Hi all.
Galaxy Ace 4 (model SM-G357FZ) doesn't turn on (this was expected) and says something about trying to re-install firmware with Kies.
This was fully expected, but when trying to re-flash the file in AP in Odin, I get a FAIL and error saying "volume size too large" and "invalid ext4 image". I have tried using the appropriate PIT file, which also fails to reset the partition. What do I do?
The phone cannot reach Recovery Mode, but can access Download Mode.
The name of the file I'm trying to flash to AP is "G357FZXXS1AQA4_G357FZEVR1AOC1_G357FZXXU1AOB1_HOME.tar.md5" and the PIT file I've used is "HEATQLTE_EUR_OPEN.pit".
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

where can i find this pit file? and do i flash it with the pda file in odin? or just the pit file?
First rule of XDA.
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=i9300+pit+file
I was following an old guide that showed an Odin screenshot that had Re-Partition checked and a PIT file selected.
Unfortunately, the text (which I skimmed past) said not to do either of those things.
Now my S5830i is stuck in a boot loop. I get the boot splash, then the glowing SAMSUNG text, then it goes back to the boot splash.
Stock Recovery and CWM both show errors mounting /cache, so I'm guessing I really killed the partition table. However, I can still get into Download Mode, so I'm really hoping there is a chance to save my phone!
All the guides I can find now say not to check Re-Partition or use a PIT ... but what do you do if you did? I can't find that answer anywhere on the forum.
If it helps to diagnose the problem, I used the following Odin setup:
Options:
X Re-Partition
X Auto Reboot
X F. Reset Time
PIT: cooperve_0623.pit
PDA: PDA_S5830iXXLH3_S5830iOXXLH1_RST_S5830iXXLH3_HOME.tar
PHONE: MODEM_S5830iXXLH3_S5830iOXXLH1_RST_S5830iXXLH3_HOME.tar
CSC: CSC_S5830iXXLH3_S5830iOXXLH1_RST_S5830iXXLH3_HOME.tar
Really hoping someone can help me out with instructions on how to rewrite the partition table and get back to stock. Thanks!
After trying it a second time, there are no errors mounting cache, but it now says (on first boot): "Failed to mount /data (invalid argument)"
If it helps, I am using Odin3 v1.87

Use ODIN v3.07.
Get USB drivers if you dont have 'em.
Now once detected,
flash this PDA: http://www.4shared.com/file/Ls2CAsHv/PDA.html
P.S.: Do not touch any other option in ODIN, just flash the PDA file.

Ynt: [Q] Need debrick help: accidentally checked repartition in Odin on S5830i
I use pit file more than once and it did not brick the phone. Try to wipe everything in cwm inc dalvik cache. If it still gives errors try another firmware from samfirmware, last one is MB2 one i think. The italian one MB2 works fine in my phone.
S5830i Stock + Root + init.d + LightSpeed Intervention + Link2SD
Thank you

Thank you so much.. that PDA.tar really did help..
I was stuck at boot loop.
now it's fixed!!
Hi all,
I'm having a problem with my completely stock Note 2. It doesn't boot (stuck on logo), but I can access recovery and download modes. Recovery mode comes up with a lot of error messages (can't mount /efs, /system, /data or /cache - no such file or directory). Factory reset doesn't help either.
I tried flashing stock in Odin but that fails after "NAND Write Start ... Complete(Write) operation failed." Flashing the .pit file with it fails with "Re-Partition operation failed." I also tried with different versions of Odin, different USB ports, and different computers. What can I try next?
Any advice would be appreciated!

Sounds like it is a little more than a soft brick.. Can you explain what you did before this happened..

So no modding.. No flashing a New Rom..No Odin flashing back to stock or new modem..etc etc..
Bc it sounds like you have corrupted partitions.. I would try to see if you can use Heimedal and fix it by flashing each img seperatly.. If not you may need a JTAG service, if you eMMc is not borked..

No modding at all. I tried using Heimdall, but the .pit file failed again.
Code:
Uploading PIT
ERROR: Failed to confirm end of PIT file transfer!
ERROR: PIT upload failed!

Yup, redownloaded everything and got the same stuff.
A while ago my phone started to restart itself for no good reason. Then it got worse and it starts randomly resetting itself (factory reset). To solve this issue I tried to do a manual factory reset myself, and the problem persisted.
I can deal with these random restarts, but then one day as it restarts it got stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy S3" screen. I tried to do another factory reset in CWM and clear the cache, but it says "E:\cache\...." isn't mounted. As I investigate further it seems the reason that it can't boot might be because the memory is not mounted I guess?
I can boot into Download mode and CWM perfectly fine, so I decided to try to flash the Stock Recovery and Stock ROM through Odin. Connection between Odin and the phone was set up fine, but then it stopped at this error message "Complete(Write) operation failed." Flashing either stock rom and recovery yields the same error . It simply can't write to the memory it seems.
Now I'm stuck at this start screen. I've heard flashing a PIT file might be able to fix it, but I have no idea what that is.
Is the phone bricked? How do I fix this? Should I use the Rescue Firmware in this post? It would be great if anyone can help me since I have been asking for help on other forums but got absolutely no response...
GT-i9300
If you can boot to download mode you can try to use the rescue firmware. No, it isn't bricked because it still works
Thanks for the response! I'm going to try the rescue firmware, but I see that it says "KOR" on the file name. Is that referring to "Korea"? My phone isn't bought in Korea does that matter? Also what's the CSC thing it's talking about?
Your description matches emmc corruption/failure, so it is a software brick.
Follow the guide for the rescue firmware it doesn't matter about the country or CSC, but make sure you include the pit file.
If that fails to flash then it's time for a new phone.

I just downloaded the zip file, but it seems like it doesn't have a pit file inside. So where can I get that file? Thanks again.

There are two versions in the rescue firmware page 4.1.2 and 4.3 the pit file is in the 4.1.2 version and can be used on both.
Now I tried to flash them with Odin 3.07, it doesn't fail nor success. Instead it got stuck at "Get PIT for mapping.." I read that this might be a driver problem, but I've reinstalled my drivers, and I even tried all the usb ports on my computer. I've terminated Kies' process, but it's still not working!
What should I do to get Odin to write onto the device???

It won't write for a reason, the emmc chip is damaged.
Recently I soft bricked my phone attempting to debloat some files on my phone. I was dumb and did this while there were files on the phone I wanted. I have seen from other posts on XDA that you can recover these files by flashing the stock ROM for my device. I used Odin to attempt this after downloading official stock firmware, but after attempting to flash the AP/ADP it said it required a PIT file for flashing. I know that it stands for Partition Information Table, and assuming PIT modifies the partitions in some way, I would prefer not to mess with the current partitions what so ever. Assuming PIT doesn't modify the partitions, after I obtained the PIT file Odin said that the PIT file was corrupted, even though I had just used Heimdall for obtaining the PIT file.
Is there a way to avoid using a PIT file at all?
Why do the PIT files for my device all give the "corrupted file" error on Odin?
Is there a better way to recover my device's files?
Does using a PIT file erase the current partitions or do I have to check "re-partition" in Odin for it to erase my files?
Using the latest version of JOdin3 with the correct .tar.md5 img files for my device from a trusted source.
