Odin Python Version [Leaked ?] - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just found a Python Project which made by a guy from Samsung since 8 months ago. I cant think why dont anybody else know that which existed on GitHub. But it was built for Linux/Ubantu/Mac Platform and its written in Python 3.5 with wx Modules.. (GUI)
* I cant upload screenshots rightnow due to my mac issues in these days .. but trust me it WORKS
* I guess this guy, B. J Mun, aimed this as public sharing but anybody didnt mentioned .. may be
* If u want to test it on Windows, there is a implemented version by ME. I would upload it later
* This is for educational purposes only and just developers
* For those who asking me what is this, "This is just an alternative Odin Downloader for Samsung devices which written in Python and its for Linux Platform. You can know how the original Odin.exe worked with the Odin Protocol. And you can put it on yourself with the other programming languages such as C/C++/C#/Java.".
Take a look at pyodin.py .. thats based on Python Thread based class which included like transferring files/bytes when device is on the Download Mode. If you want to run it or compile it, u must install wxPython Modules with Python 3.5. type it on Terminal : python pyodin-gui.py
* Good luck

Android on Gene [Wing Linux]

Project aims to develop Linux and Android support for HTC Gene
How to Run It ?
Download Wing linux from http://sourceforge.net/projects/wing-linux/files/ .
Download file named wing-linux-xxxx-rootfs.cab and wing-linux-0.xxxx-gene.cab
make sure about having minimum 650MB free on ur memory card
Install the wing-linux-xxxx-rootfs.cab. It will be default installed on your storage card in folder /storage card/linux/ .
Install the wing-linux-0.xxxx-gene.cab.
Run WingLinux from Start menu.
It will take lot of time(About 10 Minutes) for first time, but Voila! it works!!!
very much thanks to - darkstar62 and kshaurya
There is a similer thread where linux on gene was discussed. Ramersonw had succesfully ported it but was unable to control Android. I think that thread may help you.
Hi Ankit,
You will need a lot of free time to port the Android for Gene. But let us to business. First, you must port a linux kernel for the Gene. This site has a kernel that you can use. This kernel is for the HTC Wizard but his architecture is similar to Gene, it can be used. You must map the gene GPIOS too. To do this you must use the Haret and Haret Console (see how here). When you have a kernel that works, you have the basis for Android.
Things you'll need:
- A PC running a Linux distribution (Ubuntu, Debian, ...);
- A Cross Compiler (OpenEmbedded, CodeSourcery's ARM Linux tool chain);
- Haret and Haret Console;
- A source code of a kernel for OMAP 850;
- Many cups of coffee .

Dear Ankit,
Gene can boot up with Linux, but i am not sure that we will gate full functionality, I had read some where the procedure to boot directly from linux, I remember that was for HTC Kaiser but unfortunately forgot to bookmark that site, I will search again and will update you.
I am sure we can get a new operating system for gene
Nice to see this, Go Ankit go!!!!

Unless your phone is unlocked, edit the Makefile and replace the CARDID with your miniSD unique identifier, zeroing the first byte. Make sure MODEL matches your phone model as well. Build EOL:

What if we build a new kernal using config file.
I am not sure about it but if anyone have any idea please update me as soon as possible.
This is the hard part (at least for gene). We don't have a proper source kernel that works well on our devices. But if you want to try take a look here. This site have some source kernels that you can use for build to gene.

[DEV] Bada Kernel

Many time after search and code read we finaly find kernel Bada
But of course like Rebellios say's we need also right code from samsung
Ther's all revision 3
Also there's OLK4 revision 4 but need call and explain for what exactly need it then maybe they give a link for the last OLK4 V4
There's all links for LK4a source
HTC DREAM OLK4 complet kernel :
http://ertos.nicta.com.au/downloads/okl4-android-3.0.tar.bz2
Ps : Also pray to some codder's make Exe to AMSS.BIN and APPS_COMPRESSED decompress it !!!
Source Update in Time...
If you need other developers....
If you need other developers to help you decompress those files, try the other forums of this site like the android development kitchens etc coz the "serious" devs are there and dont visit this section of xda very much at all.
They may have the tools or are willing to mod their tools to dissect the files your talking about.

Q... How to set up Linux dev environment

Ok I installed the jdk on 11.10 ubuntu. The installed eclipse from the software center. I'm currently installing the android sdk. All of the sdk. I'm assuming using eclipse I should install the adt plugin. I'm interested in developing an app. Any pointers would be awesome. If anyone has any links to read up on app development for newbs I would be grateful. I would like to build a ROM to, something for personal use. I would post it if I ever feel its worth it. I'm interested in learning development and i have some great ideas for apps that do not exist that could be decent money makers. Just gotta make the thing. As I already said any help or advice would be awesome. Links would be cool to read up on. And thanks in advance for anyone who helps.

find the thread with "dsixda rom kitchen"
When i use eclipse and go to /help/install new plugin and set it up with the links from the sdk webpage i get this error. It finds the adt plugin but then wont let me install it.
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
Software being installed: Android Development Tools 15.0.0.v201110251216-213216 (com.android.ide.eclipse.adt.feature.group 15.0.0.v201110251216-213216)
Missing requirement: Android Development Tools 15.0.0.v201110251216-213216 (com.android.ide.eclipse.adt.feature.group 15.0.0.v201110251216-213216) requires 'org.eclipse.wst.sse.core 0.0.0' but it could not be found
Hi mikedavis120,
Adding htt p: / SOMETHING /download.eclipse.o SOMETHING rg/releases/indigo (Indigo Repos) to your "Install Software"-List solves it.

VM env. for Stock ROM and Mod

Hi,
I'm currently woring on creating a complete VM and a document with instraction of getting from compile to flahsing from begining.
The complete enviroment will be set and ready with the Stock ROM (currently targeting 4.0.2.A.0.58) and the Android OS.
This will allow users to be able to take this VM and start right a away to change the Stock ROM and integrate changes for that from other modes.
will update this thread when it's done. and links for download (unless someone will be faster the me )
18/12 Update:
Just now finish creating an working and compiling enviroment with 2.3.4_r1 of Android
now working on making it to work with the Sony Ericson source code...
Regards,
LaBBa.
Hi,
I need a little help here... i have followed the steps in Google:
http://source.android.com/source/initializing.html
and also the Journal:
http://journal.tianhao.info/2010/12/compile-android-gingerbread-on-ubuntu-10-10/
i have compiled the code and got it up and running and also in emulator with the command line that was written in the Journal and the Android is working..
now i try to understand the Sony Ericson guide:
http://developer.sonyericsson.com/wp/2011/05/06/how-to-build-a-linux-kernel/
I have downloaded the ARM cross-compiler and installed it, was really bad instructions on how to install it. but just need to run: sh ./the_downloaded.bin
and installed it correctly
after installing the ARM cross-compiler successfully done a make to the kernel but only after fixing the symbolic link that from some reason was attach to 0x86 arch and not arm.
the paths where different since i used the default installer path and match the same version that they used: 2010q1
so first done this for the .config :
ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=~/CodeSourcery/Sourcery_G++_Lite/bin/arm-none-linux-gnueabi- make semc_zeus_defconfig
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
then run the make:
ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=~/CodeSourcery/Sourcery_G++_Lite/bin/arm-none-linux-gnueabi- make
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
now i got kernel compiled!
the question is:
i know that with the Android compiling i got 3 files in the /source_android/out/target/product/generic:
1. ramdisk.img
2. system.img
3. userdata.img
do i need to use the ramdisk from the Android for the next steps of SE guide ?
1. Getting a RAM disk and extract it
2. Re-package it with all of the kernel of SE that we just compiled
3. Assembling the boot.img using the mkbootimg
moreover, after i assemble the files i want to make a really clean installation and cleaning all the flash and installing all in a vanilla mod.
what should be the next steps ?
Regards,
LaBBa.
I thought that the community here will help in this small matter so we will have more pepole that could join the efforts of making brtter and cooller roms... I guess I was wrong. All I wanted to do is help the dev community and create the full step by step guide to starting developers in the android world....
Sadly I'm forced to end this thread due to lake of knowledge...

im sorry i would help but i dont know much lol srry no one that knew could or would help
hi,
I hope that you are able to get this working.
i will use it when it is finished
Edit: what have you exactly done?
Maybe i can help
all i wanted to do is to download all the source codes and compile it and then creat the same version (for this case the .58) manually and get to the same images that need to be flahed.
i wanted to create from this a complete tut that others that have allot of knowladge in development could start working without the stragling of setting up an eviroment or all the issues about how to get from compiling to acctuall creating an .img to flash it on your device.
just a simple "out of the box" solution so pepole could get and work right a way without wasting time in assembling the source codes and setting then env.
ok, and where are you?
I mean what have you done for now??
please see the second post.. it's all there..
yes you need that ramdisk for the kernel.
but you need to edit the ramdisk to work with the xperia play.
i can do that, can you upload it??
what i'm going to do now is, i'm going to upload all the VM to the web and write the complete tutrial for all the steps i have done so far and then we could continue. thank you for trying to help!
ok,
if you need some help PM me!
