Okay so I've spoken to Samsung today and they said that basically they will start rolling out oreo to the note 8 once they have rolled out oreo for the s8 and s8 plus for all carriers / regions
I'm assuming its in case there are even more bugs like the restart bug also the second reason they didn't role out with note 8 is because the note 8 will have some features the s9 has due to it having dual cameras so oreo will bit slightly different than the s8 one.
Samsung have also confirmed they will be rolling out bixby 2.0 along with the note 9 around August time. I'm assuming oreo isn't too far off for us note 8 users as they also told me to keep checking for updates (unless that's just something they are told to say)
They will most likely roll oreo out to German users first like they did with the s8.
So, do we really know when it happens? I don't think that this is any news to us. I was surely prepared that we have to wait for s8 to get oreo first so nothing really changes
Excuse me sir, I don't see where "We finally know when ..." here in your post.
Nothing new, same story, really no need to open a new thread ...
we DO know when...... it's LATER
and, its funny that you think some CS agent who answered your phone call has some sort of inside info that the rest of the world doesnt already have..it will come when it comes, and not a minute sooner
target May I reckon. Samsung are hopeless in updating devices. Nothing since Sept to end Jan then 2 since. Oreo is a mile off and they won't release it until the S9 is out there with it on otherwise no one would update!
Historically, I have received the current OS update in the beginning of April on my Notes. I have Tmobile.
Ha ha. I can't believe the suckers that hang on Samsung's every word regarding updates. I have had Samsung mobiles (and several tablets) since the Galaxy S and the updates are either very late or not at all. Not to mention they are generally also full of bugs and need updated again after a couple of months.
I just rooted my Note 8 running 7.1.1 as I know from personal experience Oreo will be late and buggy as hell. No interest in waiting for it whatsoever as the phone works perfectly as is.
Holy **** I was just trying to help people who don't know ?? you're all so salty and ****s towards me lmfao grow up its just an update hahaha little kids

The wording of your post made it seem like you had a definitive date. We all know the update flow, or at least anyone paying attention.
Also a phone rep is notoriously useless when it comes to that kind of information because they don't get daily updates from the folks debugging software and writing/porting code. Not to mention it's a good way for them to disappoint a lot of people when the QA process prevents the previously stated schedule from being met.
I know when we will get the software too, when a threshold of quality has been met that they deem acceptable.
At this point the mods may as well lock this thread

Hola
Many of us I know signed up, most of us did not get in due to limited space. Bottom line there must be a few out there that got it. I am not sure of the so called NDA that was required, but I am hoping some can provide some very high level feedback.
1. Generally stable? Enough at least for usage as your daily driver?
2. How close to stock Android is it? For example, same battery management interface? Onscreen buttons? Minute vibration controls? Camera improvements?
3. Root available? I saw from some pictures issued on the ZTE Chinese forum showing a warning about having rooted device on a Nougat preview.
4. Any noticeable improvements in cellular reception? Actual dBm values would be nice.
It is just to give us a indication that ZTE US is at least not only bringing Nougat to our phones BUT the skinning and functionality and stability is ok.
I'm surprised the firmware itself has not leaked already.
Hello, I have Nougat and can provide some feedback from it.
I'd love to hear as well

Watch out, people are already complaining on Z Community about what had been said.
According to one of the testers it is still MiFavor. Wow, can't believe I was fooled into thinking they actually cared with their "stock android discussion". Guess I have to flash CM and live with its bugs.

The 7.0 ROM has been in works for months. They released an early preview (screenshots) to the Chinese forum months ago -- of course it was still going to be MiFavor. The discussion poll about stock android for R&D was literally only like 2 weeks ago. If people think ANY company can just turn on a dime like that, then they clearly don't understand how companies work or how software is developed at that level.

I was one of the people complaining and I don't regret it. They're going to cancel this if you all don't shut your mouths unless ruining this for everyone is your thing. In which case, keep it up.

This is not your thread... Not that anything is really going on in here anyway.
+1 on closing this thread.
Don't complain ZTE doesn't listen to us or play by the rules, when they are reaching and the first thing you do is break trust.
Earn it first, then complain after that.
+1 closing this thread
Why close this thread? This has no real bearing on the ZTE beta. If someone on the test panel screws up, that's on them. It's totally legit to be curious about the new OS. IMO anyway.

:crying: I just got this email to fill out to beta test Nougut.
Looks like we should get it on February or March.
Received email, completed survey. In a supreme cosmic coincidence, I got the email moments after picking up my Daydream VR. The universe is sending me a sign!
I think that they might be releasing Nougat without Daydream initially. If the new questionnaire is any indication because they asked a lot of questions about Daydream capability. Also, it takes, at least, 7 days to verify a rom with Google. So unless they already have a nougat rom cooked (maybe without daydream?), it's definitely slipping to February.
Paging @DrakenFX. I told you we won't be getting nougat
Truly disappointing. Glad that I sold my A7 today.
Yes, very disappointing if true! That nearly borders on false advertising, in fact. It would be a shame to buy a 'daydream ready' phone when in fact it is not daydream ready.

Eh...Long update. But at least the beta testing proves that they care about bug testing. THAT, I can get around.
At this rate, it seems like end of feb might be a possibility. I'm suspecting probably end of q1..

Yeah, Answered yes too. Hoping maybe they are looking for some rooted users to test updating from a rooted device or something. Ether way LOS looks like they will be releasing soon so not worried.
All you people complaining, wouldn't you rather wait longer for a bug free update? A lot of OEMs are having trouble with Nougat and if it takes them till March then so be it because I want MiFavor to be fixed.
All the people are complaining here, but hey Motorola also did this. The Moto Z Play was scheduled for Nougat update in December but latest updates point to a feb-march release. If you really want those updates so much buy a Pixel for twice the price.

Exactly. I don't get why people are acting like Nougat is the Holy Grail and they'll die if they don't get it.
Android has changed a lot. I remember the wait for Lollipop when the newest Android version was 4.x, and for a good reason: Lollipop changed a lot about Android, and I'd lay a claim that it changed more than the M->N update. I don't have a lot of hope that ZTE would give the Nougat on Axon 7 a top notch UI flow, but I do hope silly stuff get fixed (ie excessive background killing due to app battery consumption, big ugly "clear all" button that gets mistakenly pressed all the time). Daydream... I'm not sure. Depends on the headset and also more importantly, actual good games that get released on the platform.

I saw that story today, looked at the calendar and realized one big contributing factor: Chinese New Year is on Saturday. A billion people are currently taking trips to their home towns to celebrate for two weeks, then travel back to the city. Not much gets done for about three weeks around the holiday. Hopefully around the middle of February they'll be back to parse what the second round of beta testing brings up, in which case... maybe end of Feb, early March we'll get Nougat, if all goes smoothly.
I'm a little disappointed, but it's not a big deal for me. I'm pretty happy with the phone as is.
I don't know if you are informed but in the last weeks there were very bad news about this company:
- LeCloud closes on June 30
- Job cuts in India and in the USA
- Former employees have denounced LeEco and they are creating a new company
- CEO & CFO dismissals
- Arrests for industrial espionage
- Sale of land purchased in the USA
- Allegations of misappropriation
- Missed the deal with Vizio
- Closing of the EcoPass service
Well, what about the future of this company?
Who will supports our devices?
Noone knows I think, it's cheap phone with good specs so people buy it. If you worry maybe buy other brands instead. LeEco is like living on the edge now but they still make new phone I think. Don't worry they not shutdown yet.

Not everyone, what we got for stock Eui Marshallow 21S, 23S, 26S everything work fine. If you like flashing there is also many custom Nougat roms to enjoy . Even with new stock Nougat rom, not much change for the device maybe some cosmetics stuff, looks etc which not really matter for me.
If I like update/new rom I will buy Xiaomi or Google phone not LeEco.

For every company, update their smartphones is an obligation (security patch and so on) and a demonstration of seriousness. I'm using the Resurrection Remix on my Le Max 2 and Nougat custom ROMs are incomplete just because LeEco still doesn't release Nougat officially.

It's so difficult to just talk about the situation without polemicize or "fanboying"?
You're being obnoxious... People aren't buying this phone because of the LeEco brand, they're buying the Le Max 2 because it's a $196 phone with unbeatable specs for the price. There's no brand loyalty involved, it could've been from any other random Chinese brand for all I care. TBH, you have to be pretty ****ing stupid to expect any kind of support, either from the online Chinese stores that sell this phone to you at heavily discounted prices, or LeEco, a brand that I never heard of until recently. I already knew that their smartphone division was failing, so as people have been telling you... we bought this phone because of the specs and decent XDA support, I never expected LeEco to provide updates, matter of fact, some of the Le Max 2 variants ship with stock ROMs that have no update function like the American X829 variant.
I always been a big fun of HTC, but when I dropped my Samsung, I was shopping for the phone with good battery life. U11 came out at the same time but was nothing excited about it and I looked at LG G6. No doubt, it was a great looking phone, probably the best looking no-bezel phone at the time of it’s release. Awesome battery life and only $599
So… I got one from HK. It came with all toys including large memory 64Gb of RAM and Quad DAC audio processing. But no wireless charging. Its for US market only. Smart people at LG probably thought it’s a great idea to give SEA customers more RAM because their songs are longer. Someone must’ve spent lot’s of money on this research. US model came with no Quad DAC…
So now one year later, my phone sitting with September 2017 security update. Indian model had March update already. Again, LG must think there is a reason to secure this particular region more than HK. Who will hack anything in HK one may ask?
Just before releasing LG7, LG creates software update center to ensure updates and updates Korean version just before LG7 is released with another gimmick called ThinQ. And yes, it’s not even Oreo 8.1
So will you upgrade to G7, which cost almost $1000, has nothing to offer other than AI (which was promised to be on 8.0 update for G6, but isn’t) Will you buy any of LG phones? You guess my answer…
I love my G6, I can run it almost 2 days, wide lens camera is awesome, but I do not have phone which manufacture will obsolete in less than 1 year.
Luckily HTC U12 will be out at the end of the month, I can wait.
I can wait for OnePlus 6 as well..

I don't know why people use xda only for complaining, never a solution. And I don't speak about your particular situation, but in general. Some of mine last phone was oneplus 3t and nexus 6, and people complain about update also on them. Thing like 'OMG yesterday pixel 2 got this and we not, why, cry...' or 'never another oneplus because....' all the time.
I normally choose a phone because I like it, if I don't I buy something else.
If I buy a thing and after some time I write on the forums that this thing is horrible, I think I will appear dumb...
Nothing personal, just my two cents.
No Way I do the same mistake and buy an LG phone again! Very bad supporr.
This company does not respect their costumers
Nah I'm getting a Pixel or OnePlus in a few years. LG is getting bad. I don't like the software skin either.

Fact is that G5 received more updates (and it's actually more up to date here in Europe) than G6 in the same window of time, this is not a predictable thing, moreover when G5 was one of the first devices to receive Nougat.

You are right, that is a big problem, we can cry together until LG do something.
In your list of reasons why you bought the phone was there any though given to the update frequency? Yes, because lg said that the device was to get updates on par with the other devices released at the time. Google is getting ready to drop Android P and we're still on 7 that in itself is reason enough to be disappointed in lg. I think I'm still on the Dec patch. They can't even get those to us with some reliability. Then there's the locked versions where you can't root the thing and do it yourself if nothing else.

PS.: It was released in 2016.

There's no money in the Axon 7. Paying people to update this phone is like throwing money out the window.
Get your heads out of your butts.
PS.: It was released in 2016.

Just let the people hope. The ban is lifted, so of course people get their hopes up again since oreo was announced and almost finished developing before the ban happened.

Couldn't disagree more. The Axon 7 was definitely good enough to create some buzz. If they want to build on this little success, they should do everything possible to make their customers happy and give them the promised Oreo update. If they don't, they have to start all over with close to none loyal following left.

The funny thing is how many of us promoted the Axon 7 once we gave it a shot and had the surprise of how great it was. ZTE listened to its customers input. Especially with the Axon line. My modest (possibly desperate) hope is that the Axon 9 was ready for market already prior to the ban. If ZTE has any sense, they will get the Axon 9 out sooner than later while those of us that will latch on and promote it, use it, and love it are still hopeful. I realize many have already moved on to OP6, etc.
i am still holding out. someone had said at one point ZTE would need to rebuild confidence first, but in my opinion, the perfect way is to release the axon 9 alongside pixel 3/XL and Note 9 and before one plus 6t. There is a slot just for that phone. Budget, but not cheap, but cheaper than OP6.
if they focus on their budget phones and let the budget flagship Axon line fall further behind, they have no more runway with enthusiasts. I am glad they are still doing warranty repairs and that they are playing ball with the ban lifting requirements, but at this point, we are long overdue for new hardware. Im also hoping they keep bands for Verizon, even though it will never be certified by big red. Just keeps options open. and gives an advantage over One Plus.
Is it just me, or I don't see USA on the first drop down menu of countries which ZTE offers support?

Well, a lot of money was spent already on developing the update before the ban. They announced it in December if I recall correctly. And from what we could see in the leaked beta, it was almost done.
So I think that it does not make sense to cancel the update when it's 90% over.
Also, we need to remember that ZTE is a government owned company of one of the world's economic super powers Money is not really a big deal for them I would imagine. The fines will probably be supported by the Chinese government and ZTE will be just fine.
Oh nice. I just got this phone 2 days. Got it because its Daydream compatible for a great price. So it would be even better to get an OS update.. but not even necessary.
