Hello guys, it's been a while I logged into my account. I have a big and a strange issue with my Huawei mate 10 pro phone. The problem is, I can't update the software with my phone data but the phone is systematically prompting me to connect to a WiFi network before downloading the software package. I have unlimited data and moreover, there's a switch to choose to download the software ie, update over WiFi or not yet, the phone won't allow me to download the update with my data. The sad problem is, I don't have WiFi in my home. Is this some kind of a bug or is it intentional? Is those with the same phone having the same problem? It's a shame such a great phone can't do this basic thing. All my previous phones never had this problem so I'm very surprised. When I first had my phone in December and I experienced the problem, a gentleman at the Huawei customer services told me, it could be a bug so I returned the phone and ordered the same Huawei mate 10 pro phone from 3 which I received early January only to find out today after getting a notification to update my phone that it is having the same problem.. ???tbh, I'm so disappointed pissed off. Any ideas will be much appreciated. Thanks all

It's a problem with your Telecom operator imo.
In France some of them limit data even when you have unlimited data...

Salut, j'ai unlimited data alors c'est bizarre. Never mind my French.
I have actually found a way around it by putting my sim card into a different phone and using it as hot-spot to do the update.

1. What's the best settings to be able to economise on power?
2. When I receive messages, they appear on the screen (notifications) and wakes the screen up. Is there a way to stop the notifications from popping up ?

Nice region and near Paris hehe
1 To save battery : in Settings - battery- launch, put most of app in manually mode based on your needs. You can also choose dark wallpaper. It helps. A d brightness on auto mode.
After that, it depends of your use. Do you have problems with battery??
2 yes. Go to settings - app and notifications - notifications and controls panel (the last option on the bottom) -
And desactivate light screen when an notification appears

It's really a nice phone and happy so far apart from the fact that updates can only be done with WiFi but not with phone data. Anytime I have issues, I'll contact you as you seem to be an expert. ?

I think it's bull****.
There are 4 main operators in France. I'm on Bouygues telecom and I can download updates with 4g.
I know that with orange or sfr (other main operator) people can't download updates with 4g. I read that on french forum. Don't know if it's the case with free (fourth main operator).
So I'm pretty sure that is not a phone or a huawei problem.
And I'm pretty sure they did this in order to regulate bandwidth even if you have unlimited data. It's a sort of scam for sure...

Very good launcher. Used it a lot years ago when I still had time to play with personalization ?
Now I'm on evie. Lighter, smooth and perfect for me.
Moreover, read that there is a problem between nova and mate 10 pro with torchlight. Phone restarts. Don't know if it happens with all firmwares.
You're right. I have just tried the torchlight and it did not work with Nova.
I have never heard of your launcher but will try it. I like to fiddle with my phone and try new things.? Any hidden secrets/tricks with the evie launcher or a straight forward one?

Try it. This launcher is excellent and has the essential features and it is totally free.
No secret tricks. Launcher is very simple but very powerful and optimized.

i experiencing a battery problem after the march security update which i updated my
yesterday i finish the day with 29% and when i wake up i saw my phone at 12%
but before the update if i finish the day with the same battery life i wake up to 27%
the fuc.... up th ebattery in this march update and one of the update notes was a better batter life
now is any having the same thing

I was wondering if anybody knows if it would be possible to make a version that adds the 850MHz band for HSDPA? Maybe someone is already working on this? I do not know if the restriction to 900/2100MHz is due to its hardware design. I searched the site but seem to find contradicting info on this.
I own a Fuze, which is nice and fast on 3G but after having used the S710 and S730 I very much prefer one-hand navigation for everything else. The only thing keeping me from buying the S740 is that I want fast Internet access.

I think that limitation is hardware-based and therefor cannot be just "added"
HTC might work on US version of S740 but I have heard no rumors about such thing.

- Battery, mine last ~24hrs with a normal usage, HSDPA on, Btooth off, wlan off, Skype and MSN running and mail check every 10 min. But If I m in an area where HDSPA is always available (like... HOME) the battery last a lot less.
- Mine numeric keypad does a noisy noise.... like if there was sand behind the keys.
- Meteo doesn't work with other cities ( I tried everything... )
- I can t find a decent Navigation (GPS) software and a browser that actually work with the browser game oGame (I tried explorer, opera mini, opera mobile)

MSN, Skype and periodical e-mail checking produce quite some traffic and require a few CPU cycles, too. Both of these factors are quite good battery consumers.

Mine definitely doesn't. I would consider returning/replacing your unit as it might be faulty.

Hmm, I like my smartphones. (S710/S730/S740) Easy one Finger Navigation, you must not toogle between fingertips and Keyboards and much faster.
The most of our female Users like much more Smartphone Edition, is much easier to use for standard things.
And the today "New Email" Plugin is much better:
It shows "all" incoming Emails, also the Emails that are automaticly routed via Exchange Rules to Subfolders. With a "normal" PDA you see only New Emails that comes into your Inbox, with S740 you see all "New" Emails that are automaticly moved to Subfolders into the Today screen. That´s really the "best of" of the S740
I Wonder, why not Touch HD, Touch Pro, Diamond has this feature??

I hate touch screens, this is the ideal device.
i wish it was a big thinner, but frankly I am so please that HTC, Samsung, Nokia (s60v3) and others continue to manufacture non-touch devices.
They are so much faster to use, less input error, and no constant cleaning of screen!
yes that´s right. I use sometimes Nokia E66/E71 with Symbian OS, for quick & Dirty use on the road, that´s really fine, only the Nokias Mail for Exchange (MfE) Application is not so good like the one of S740. When this has same charakter sometimes, I will switch completly to Nokia´s symbian OS. ;-)
This ROM is based on the latest HTC Official ROM (20764) with 21042 XIP ported in.
If you go into Settings/About/Version you will see what I mean.
Rhodium Apps included so far:
Wifi Wizard
BT Wizard
Phone Wizard
When you bring up the Comm Manager tap where it says Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Phone for the new little wizards.
More to come...Incorporating as many Rhodium apss as possible.
As with all my test builds please test all basic functions and report back.
The TF3D2 is the first release so update if you want too. Of course final release will have everything updated.

This ROM should solve the random data connection issues that some AT&T users have encountered.
Please remember this is a test build and I do not have a device to test on so somethings just may not work yet.
Please test the cam, GPS and basic functions. I know there may be duplicates of some icons. Will do all clean up work when I know ROM is stable.
Honestly, I am not even sure if the ROM will boot Doing this blind...

It is built off the same AT&T base so I am guessing it does have the random data connection.
Not sure but it should be able to be turned on by a reg key if it is not there...
First impressions after about an hour or so:
- Another super fast ROM! Feels slightly faster than v5.2
- Resources running at around 40% after installing s2u2, phoneweaver and a couple of other things that are running in the background.
- Connection setup is missing from settings->connections, but thats no biggy, just installed from cab.
- Bug with camera. Doesn't work! Tried pressing button on photos & videos tab, but no response. When trying through programs tab, I get the error "'Camera' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. If problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file".
- TF3D2 required v1c fix, but you did say it needs updating.
Overall, its very fast and stable. I'm still adding apps and setting up, so once done I'll test calling, sms, email, etc. Its late here though, so that will be tomorrow
Hmmm..not sure why Camera and Connection setup is not working. I screwed up my working OEM folder the other day and had to reconstruct ROM so maybe it got left out. Just added new packages and rebuilding...

Amigo Atom, quiero decirte que tus ROMs son de los mejores. No se la razón por la cual el Voice Speed Dial 1.2 no se activa desde el Bluetooth. E intentado varios remedios, he cambiado el auricular, también le he cambiado el radio y aun así no funciona. Podrías ayudarme con esto? Quisas algún DLL o algo le está faltando a los ROMs. Eres un genio y sé que puedes ayudarme. Gracias de antemano. A mi teléfono es un HTC Fuze.

Atom friend, I tell you that your ROMs are the best. Not why the Voice Speed Dial 1.2 is not activated from the Bluetooth. And tried several remedies, I have changed the headset, I've also changed the radio and still not working. You could help me with this? Perhaps a DLL or something is missing to ROMs. You are a genius and I know that can help me. Thanks in advance. My phone is a HTC Fuze.
I've been running this for about a day now, so can offer some more feedback.
- No problems with basic functions - calls, sms, emailing etc.
- Bluetooth works fine, though I don't have a headset, so can't comment on its use.
- GPS works well too - I got satellite fixes very quickly even with aGPS disabled.
- Battery usage is good - pretty much the same as v5.2
- There does seem to be a problem with the tilt sensor - I couldn't get Opera or pictures to rotate.
- Still has issue of random data connections, but as you mentioned, you did suspect there would be.
So after a day or so of use, I think this is the basis of another quality ROM. I really like your approach of streamling the ROM as much as possible. I've tried other really good ROMs from other chefs, but they are so resource hungry, they affect battery life. Your approach suits me fine.
With the fixes applied you mentioned in #5, and the addition of extra Rhodium apps, I'm sure this will be another very popular ROM.
One request - is it possible to make the same ROM using the HTC base rather than ATT, to see if the data connections issue can be eliminated?

I know this ROM was a mess. Sorry, it happens when I don't have a device to test with. However, I did manage to get my broken phone working and should be able to test while I build. If things go as planned today I should have a new test ROM posted later on in the day.

I achived building my own ROM with 2 days of sleep less night.... & around 10 flashes achived some thing. Hope you are using asian new updated build.
I have only 1 problem hope you will help me. Actually i am using your kitchen to cook..... the problem is there is a delay in getting a slide to answer screen & also an ring. Once i get a call lights start blinking after few seconds slide to answer window will pop up.....

well.. ever feel someone watching you over whatsapp last seen status and get a text from him/her saying 'hey you, why dont you replies my text.. i can see you now'.. or maybe you just meet this new girl and keep text her on whatsapp but you scared your girlfriend will notice that you are online at that time..or maybe similar situation.. you tell..
actually it is simple to make you whatsapp last seen status unchanged.. whenever you open whatsapp.. whatsapp server (i think) will detect your present and will display your last seen status whenever you friend open his/her chat conversation. so how to make your whatsapp last seen freeze ? to do so.. open whatsapp when there is no connection available on your cellphone. im using data connection. im using data toggle widget on my homescreen (data/wifi toggle, depend on what connection you are)..
1# disable data/wifi connection using toggle widget (notification toggle should do to)
2# open your whatsapp.. read, send, whatever you like to do so.
3# close whatsapp.
4# enable data/wifi connection from your widget/notification toggle.
and you're done.
pro -your whatsapp last seen status will never change until you open whatsapp with data/wifi connection are connected
con - you cant see your friends last seen status, unable to download files.
should be okay if you just open your whatsapp with connected connection few times a day and make your friends knew that you are online that day and keep the rest of the times invisible.. hahaha..

Wouldn't it be easier to use another application specifically for your affair? Not cheating would be the best idea, but I'm just working in your framework. Don't use just Whatsapp, use Whatsapp and a second app specifically for your paramour.
use another home launcher, hide whatapp, then go to data usage, restrict whatapp data usage. When yr wife is ard u, u just use data connection. When yr wife is not ard u, use wifi to check the hiden whatapp whether there is msg anot.

in my country (malaysia) everybody just go crazy about using whatsapp and forget about viber..kakao talk..and so on.. almost all people here in my country are on whatsapp :laugh: .. to make my affair(if i ever had) or girlfriend moving from whatsapp to other ? that will be a big NO i think

Mine because this silly friend of mine who keep on texting me.. Get me thinking why on earth she get so excited about sending free msg (maybe she use to own se k770 i think.. Also, you dont have to kill whatsapp, just hitting home after sending the message works.. then, with whatsapp running in the background, i enabled wifi/data and my message was sent, but last seen remained unchanged.

Yes. I used this trick most of the time. It does not necessarily be used to cheat on your girlfriend/boyfriend. I use it whenever i receive a whatsapp message from someone i dont want want to talk to that day so to clear the notification that i keep receiving, i turn off my wifi, open whatsapp and clicked the message. Ta-da! Haha just saying and i also use it so tha t my ex wont see that im online. Haha ^^

Well, to make it a real life case: my girlfriend was supposed to be on the TGV at 20:37. But that was also the last time she was seen on whatsapp. She has a foreign SIM card so she doesnt roam on her smartphone (I know because i see the specifications). The TGV has free wifi in business class, but for the rest in 2nd class you have to pay to get access. Assuming that she didnt use the smartphone (which is running on Android 2.3 and i know it has some problems with whatsapp concerning wifi connection), could there have been some sort of connection that updated her status?

Doesn't work for me I disable Wifi with the Wifi Toggle Widget of Sony and then I open WhatsApp. After that, I write a person a message and then I went back to homescreen and enable my Wifi with the Wifi Toggle Widget of Sony, but the person, which I've written to, can see my last online Status

As many users know on android lollipop for our devices e-compass is not working well (always pointing north). It's not the most usefull part of our phones, but it's a bit boring when you try to use google maps.
The reason why it's not working may be because it's not calibrated. I'll share something that worked for me.
-Download this app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brothers.compass
-Open it and click on menu button
-Follow the step, just do it all the time while progress bar is moving.
For me it worked, I hope it'll work for you

I am using Mi3 with Blisspop v2.1
I tried calibrating 3 times and got the vibration for calibration complete but still the compass didn't work neither in this app nor in google maps.

Hello, since I haven't yet reached 10 posts, I need to write here. So. My question rather points at SynnyG and his AOSPA-L rom for Mi3. Is there any progress with the compass fix? Just asking, I myself found compass useful because of travelling and mapping certain objects. At the same time, I love this ROM, its simplicity and spirit of the AOSP look. But, the compass is bugging me. Every compass app is randomly turning the arrow around, depending on how I tilt the phone. Also, the measured magnetic field is out of range, showing more than 200uT when device is laying horizontally(not happening with MIUI in the same room with the same conditions). Maybe just heavily decalibrated? Calibrations don't work though, so I rather think it's something in the ROM(and basically all CM based ROMs, as I was also trying Bitti's one and it behaves the same, plus phone overheats with temps at almost 80°C). Other than that, the ROM so far runs smoothly, without any crash or lags. I just miss some option to switch between performance modes. Just for information, I'm using the latest AOSPA 6.7.1015 build with stock AOSPA kernel, MI3W 64GB. Not sure if I need to post some logs or such. If so, please tell me and I'll send it. Oh! And one other thing, that doesn't fit in this thread much, but I think there's a little bug in systemUI, where the network and wifi icon doesn't show the traffic activity with the up and down arrows. Thank you for answers, appreciate it. And sorry if I'm asking in a wrong thread, I'm relatively new to XDA.

No problem to use the spanish version. In fact the spanish one is the only at this time which shows B09.
Hong Kong, Singapore, Sweden show different version of A2017G
You're right that the ZTE network is down. I am waiting, if there comes one, for the OTA.

You can't interact with them through the quick action buttons, reply, archive, things like that. The problem is that when you expand them, they contract again. It was already there in b08.

The issue is that if you, for example, receive an email and get the gmail notification, you can't expand the notification and use the reply and archive/delete button because the notification contracts immeddiately to its state without the buttons. You can tap the notification to launch the app, yes, but that's inconvenient if you can do the required action through the button.

I have got it. And was it available in B08? I didn't realize it but it doesn't mean anything because I have never been missing it although it would be useful really.
No, the bug was introduced in b08, the supposed "fix" for the notification bell (that ZTE USA successfully implemented weeks ago with obvious bugs such as this one, but I digress..)

Well since they didn't fix the broken lock screen with BO9 it's not worth updating at all.
We will wait until Android N in couple of weeks released.

Before installing B08 was working absolutely fine with all previous version.
Let's hope being fix with Nougat upgrade next month.
It's quite annoying that bug since it's one of the major feature of Android M having the ability to interact through lock screen for various app Watchapp,Viber,Gmail and so on and with B08 is broken.
Even listening music through lock screen the management of music control is limiting.

Another secret update from ZTE. From what I understand the unannounced updates would logically have minor fixes to the things they messed up in the announced update i.e. B08.
Dolby still switching off when plugging headphones. It does not look like they fixed anything really. Maybe the problem with delayed notifications? Hard to be 100% sure, but I have not felt like there were delays since the update.

I wouldn't think that it is bug. It is the appropriate way in case of a phone is made for audiophiles.

Why do you think that? Do audiophiles not want their phone to remember their preferred settings?
Or is Dolby bad for a proper audio experience? In that case, should not we be free to choose whether we want it or not?

I don't want to tell others what they want to. But if I was who made this phone I did the same. Dolby is not an audiophile thing. But an audiophile is not always audiophile. Sometime they can turn dolby on due few reasons but mainly non of them will use it for listening music on headphone. I would hate if next time I plug headphone I need to turn it off manually. If I use dolby it has good reason (mostly movie) and usually it is only one time event for specific material.
Otherwise dolby remains turned on in case of speakers and it is also fine. It is reasonable.
So current functionality is quite good for me. Also it would be fine If it was switchable.

obladi64 is right - Dolby is not audiophile thing.
I myself dont like any added software effects on my music. axon7 shines with FLAC's. and if you are audiophile you surely dont want to ruin all those subtile sounds with unecessary software adjustments.
first thing is high quality music, then headphones, then DAC/AMP. I can say I cant listen to 320kbps MP3's as they sound awful with my setup.
anyways everyone's hearing is different, and music taste is different, so you have to choose what is best for you.
B09 ist just a full build that will be used for newly produced devices or as a restore image. Nothing more.
