So I have the mate 10 pro and both the cables needed to connect it to my TV but it doesn't work so I messaged Huawei technologies support and received this "Regarding the connection between the TV and Mate 10 Pro via the HDMI cable (also called an MHL feature), we can inform you that it is not supported by our device.
We will send this information to our development department in order to be taken in consideration and maybe implemented in a future update.

You must be doing something wrong. I can project my Mate 10 (Non Pro) to my TV without any issues.
I am using this adapter

Im reading some conflicting information all over. Id like to know if there is anyway to do Video out from the Lumia 920. Id like to be able to connect it to a projector and present.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Should be possible... But by the looks of things, a custom rom would be required. That's what other phones need. I haven't seen anything for wp8 though except at the press release.

Video out is coming via DLNA
http://wmpoweruser.com/dlna-play-to-app-only-coming-to-nokia-lumia-920-in-q1-2013/
A developer from Nokia Beta Labs has released information about the status of DLNA wireless video streaming on the 920. As it turns out the reason it was not included is because there are some dependencies that need to be updated before it will work properly. They also indicated that Nokia would be responsible for updating the software/dependencies and not Microsoft, so this feature may only be available to Nokia Windows Phones.
The developer has indicated that the official release will be Q1 2013.
Yay, thanks for the update.

Do any of those mhl to hdmi adapters work on the Lumia 920?

This is what I care about, not every monitor supports DLNA, I'd rather have some hardware solution, I can't believe it's not supported by default on any phone nowadays, it's a pretty basic feature.
I'm tempted to buy the mhl to HDMI adaptor from monoprice just to try it if I ever get around to ordering it.

To my knowledge WP8 does not support MHL output. For presentations they have always used USB to PC output (using a Microsoft only tool) and then connected that PC to the Beamer.
to bad photobeamer is not videobeamer
That would be fantastic if it worked locally but I understand the work involved for something like that. Hope that you find a resolution for this.

When the devices first launched and came to our organization - we ran into a problem with this - as it was a question we had for training our employees. M$ made it clear to us that there is a special PC driver they are using to enable this feature and that it would not see the light of day outside of their paid trainers. I personally think this is bull**** and needs to be released - plenty of good stable uses for this.. the iPad/iPhone has this - why cripple your device..
if anyone finds something that would work I would be greatly appreciative.
There are two options
1 Nokia wireless nfc beamer
2 plug the phone in to PC via USB and run the project my screen application (desktop) from Microsoft.

Note to noobs: DON'T PM ME WITH QUESTIONS. POST IN THE FORUMS. THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE HERE FOR!
That's so nostalgic, when you read this posts from 2013 when people then didn't know what is coming on.
I've been searching around but haven't found a clear answer on whether I could get an adapter, either mhl or something else, to allow me to connect my huawei honor 5x to my TV via HDMI. I am currently running CM13.
If it is possible, if someone could point me to one that should work, like an amazon link or something, that would be great!
I know I could use a Chromecast, but I'm looking for a direct wired connection via HDMI so I am not dependent on a WiFi network to show the huawei phone display on my TV.
Hi I intend to get one of the M5 Pr's but I have one question before doing that.
I come from a NVidia Shield K1 and so I'm used to have the Tab connected via HDMI for watching vids in Hotels.
So is it possible to use an USB-C -> HDMI adapter with the M5 Pro?
Thanks in advance.

Can you please post the used Adapter for it, if it works. I tried at the office with an LG 21:9 Display and am not sure, whether the resolution was too much, whether the adapter did not work, or whether it is not supported

I found an article on notebookcheck.com. They tested the normal M5 Pad and found that HDMI is not possible.
What was your outcome with the Pro Model?

Edit 04/23: sorry for being late on here. Didn't have the time to check yesterday, but promise that I will have this evening for sure.

Tried yesterday with USB-2-HDMI Adapter. Notebook is working. Huawei M5 8.4 is not giving any signal.
There is this line in the Vendor build.prop file:
ro.hdmi.service=false
Might be worth experimenting with.

thanks for your answer, but this would not help since amazon is not working with chromecast in offline mode. But it is similar to the answer someone gave on Android-Hilfe.de
Reading in other Huawei sections, seems no others support mhl or slimport. So I don't think it's capable of video output.
So what would be the options for outputting video to a TV screen? I've always used a micro HDMI cable on my current (old!) Tesco Hudl2 tablet, but if cabled connections aren't available, what is the wireless format to use? Miracast or Chromecast don't seem to support all video formats and I'm not sure the quality would be as good as HDMI cable.

I think Miracast (not sure if supported on M5) always work because it is mirror what is on the device screen to the big screen? But it drains your battery fast because the screen must be on at the same time.

Thank you. I've checked, and the M5 does support Miracast (Wifi Direct). I've been trying to test the quality of Miracast using my current phone (S7 Edge) and various receivers, and from what I've seen so far, it doesn't look good enough to play locally stored movies at 1080p or 720p without lag / stuttering.
Chromecast might be an alternative as this sends the compressed file data and not the screen, but as far as I can see this supports only limited container types and codecs. Most of my movie files are MKV, which isn't supported, and some have dolby audio which again isn't supported.
Disappointing, as a quality video out is the only thing missing from the M5 for my current use.
I just bought a Chromecast and I am thinking of returning it ...
I can mirror my desktop mode from the m5 Pro via "Connect" in winodws 10 to my computer but not to my Chromecast ...
what the f.....?? -.-

Return it, Miracast (M5, Windows) is not Chromecast (Google). If you want to cast it to a TV, you need something like this.
https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-us/products/adapters/wireless-display-adapter-2/p3q-00001
Already did so....
are you positive this definetly works?
DONT!!! Buy from good companies. Wifi problems, no android 10, no dark mode, no headphone jack ....
Hi guys -- I tired with the m5 version -- doesn't work! I personally have a Matebook x pro and a mate 20 --both worked on a projection! -- So lets hope the put in an update soon ?
Hi, I was mislead by the store seller that with emphasy told me "and now, with this new mate 20 pro, you can connect up to 2 devices simultaneously!!" (emphasy added). I regarded him and asked if he was kidding. I told him that I actually have up to 4 devices connected and working simultaneously with my note 8 (in DEX I have the BT mouse, the BT keyboard, the BT earphone and the BT gear watch connected).
Now I ask you if this is also possible with the new huawei mate 20 pro or not. It would be so strange if not possible and I think that the store guy was not well prepared.
Thank you
Should be, i had 3 devices connected to my Kirin 960 Mediapad M5 10.8. I think he means two high speed devices, like earphones and headphones.

Hello, can someone try a USB-C to HDMI adapter with Oppo Reno 2 please ?
It works with Oppo Reno 10x Zoom and Oppo R17 Pro and RX17 Pro so it should work also with Oppo Reno 2 but can someone confirm it's working ?
Thank you
Doesn't work ?
I'm quite surprised but didn't manage to make it work as I've just tried

I'm also surprised and disappointed by Oppo, it looks like older Oppo smartphones worked with HDMI and new ones doesn't work anymore, why Oppo ? :/
Thank you for trying it @Vhaalion it's very helpful ! :good:
Are you sure ? Did you tried with sevral simple adapter cable ou with a hub usb-C ?
In fact, in GsmArena site, it's indicated : 3.1 USB features, so it would be compatible with HDMI output... Thank you
I have tested it some time ago with the app "Checker for Type-C to HDMI". It says "your mobile can't support USB Type-C to HDMI".
When I connect my phone to a USB 2.0 socket of my PC it does just load my Reno2. So it is not possible to just plug in the USB-C to USB-A cable into the computer to backup files, save photos etc.
Hello,
I asked to Oppo support last week, they answer, it's compatible. I also try with apps like HDMI checker (there are a lot in googleplay) and its also confirms "compatible"
So I bought and tried with a new cable adapter (USB C => HDMI) and nothing at all... automatically (like a samsung Sx ou Huawei)
I contact Oppo support yesterday, they have users feedback that it works via apps from googleplay, and not an apps wifi mirroring... but an apps that use HDMI transfert
I search, but I found nothing... according to Oppo, Reno 2 is hardware compatible (3.1 USB) but Rom doesn't include automatic detection, when you plug USB/HDMI cable...
So, if you have an idea... I also ask the apps name to Oppo support, but, they have only feedback, they don't try...
Hello,
since android 10 is out on reno2 , and android 10 as native outpout support (can be activated in developper mode) did someone tried with android 10 ?
thank you
waiting for awnser before bying usb 3.1 to HDMI cable
