How to use Mi Sound Enhancer? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

The title says it. Does it work only on Xiaomi branded ear/headphones? Or does the phone not support it at all? I see it at the settings menu, so I figured that maybe I can use it.

It works for every earphone model not only xiaomi branded ones. And all phones that run MIUI has the Mi Sound enhancer. Surprised no one answered your question earlier

Earphone issues

I got my Redmi Note 5 (SD636 ) 4 days ago and noticed something strange right away. When media is playing through the speaker, let's say from Spotify or YouTube, and I connect the earphones in the jack while it's playing, the phone takes some seconds to stop the speaker and play on the earphones.
Also when I play PUBG and enable my mic in-game, the sound starts playing from the speakers. Like it ignores the earphones completely. To fix that have to remove the headphones, minimize the app, open it again and then connect it once more.
I'm not sure if it's a bug or just compatibility issues, but the earphones are fine. They are the from Samsung and I got them with my Galaxy S7. I currently don't have another pair to test.
Has anyone else delt with that? Any tips?

Sorry, I didn't know that... Everywhere it says that I have just a plain Note 5, not a Pro, but it does matches your description. Thank you.

Why "nano gapps"? Can't the Poco F1 be repartitioned?

Howdy! I'm torn between buying a Poco F1, Mi 9 Lite or Mi 8 Pro, and was checking here to see which of the phones has more support from the community. It seems like the Poco F1 is the winner, BUT... I'm worried in that in two or three ROM threads I checked, it's suggested "you flash the nano Google Apps". Why is that? I mean, in past phones of mine, like the HTC Desire or the OnePlus One, and if I remember correctly, you could repartition your storage to get more space for the system partition. This way you could flash normal-sized Google Apps. Is the Poco F1 - and other phones by Xiaomi - stuck at a specific size, with only the nano version flashable?
And if yes, doesn't that mean that in, say, six months or one year, when those apps will have grown even larger, not even the nano version will fit and you'll have to go even smaller?
I don't want to buy a phone for which new ROMs will feel too restricted, or you'll have to jump through major hoops to flash, one year down the road.

There's no system space restriction whatsoever, neither do you need to repartition the storage.
Nano gapps are suggested mostly because there are some ROMs that encounter bugs with richer gapps
and because opengapps support only up to nano-gapps for Android 10 for now
Ah,I see! Thanks for the clarification! If it's not too much, or against the rules, which one of those phones would you believe would be better in the long run? I've already bought a Mi 9 Lite for my wife, and I love its display, but the Poco (and, up to a point, the Mi 8 Pro) have better CPU/GPU and support here. For some reason, I don't see the Mi 9 Lite "catching up over here" - its forums seem baren compared to the other ones. But, damn, that screen...

I own the poco for about a year and i have bought mi 9T for my wife (same as the lite, but with submersible camera).
Screen difference is great.
The notch is a large disadvantage for the poco and many good ROMs break the deal for me, with how they use the space it leaves.
Sound is a bit better on mi9t
I don't think photos (with gcam) have much difference between the two, except telephoto.
I am very satisfied with the poco but i have to let you know that:
1. If you're not gaming i'd suggest mi9 lite/t
2. I get 7-8 hours SOT without performance restrictions, so if you choose the mi8, i guess that you'll get ~5-6h SOT with the smaller battery and the led (if that helps)
Thanks for the quick and extensive reply!
Although I fancy myself a gamer, I find that, at over 40, I end up mostly using my phone in other ways - notes, calendar, task management, GPS...
I really-really like my emulators, that's why the Poco F1 and Mi 8 Pro look better, on paper, compared to the Mi 9 Lite. But if I'm to be a realist, the Mi 9 Lite's screen will end up being better in the long run for ogling text, that will end up being 90% of what I use the phone for. And I'll be damned if its lower specs aren't enough to run some SNES or Genesis - era games
I only hope there's a hack or something for doubling the size of displayed text. My eyesight's started failing, and the text on its ultra-HD screen, on my wife's phone, is also ultra-small for me. I've read that you can't overdo the DPI settings in the dev options 'cause the whole UI might break.

Android 10 has text size reduce/enlarge inbuilt.
Idk if it's there in miui though.
My wife's Mi 9 Lite has an option in MIUI, but I found all the three settings it offered small. That's why I enabled the dev options and directly changed the DPI value. But, AFAIK, I can't overdo that - and don't know what the limits are.
By the way, Mi 9 Lite incoming. Thanks for helping me choose.

Xiaomi Mi Box 3 (Global) on android 9 + Xiaomi 7.1 Gaming Headphone via USB = OK?

I didnt find any more sites that I can ask this question and after about two weeks of consistently researching about my situation, I figured I ask some help from you guys.
I have a Xiaomi Mi Box 3 Global Version which I purchased from Aliexpress in 2018.
It was on Android Oreo 8.1 but I updated it to Android Pie 9.0 recently this year.
I have been using my trusted headphone by Meizu. Model is Meizu HD50 which I bought in 2016. it has served me well.
I am now looking to buy a new headphone to use as I watch Movies from time to time at home.
I recently found a 7.1 Xiaomi Gaming headphone which I am inclined to buy but just before I proceed with the purchase I would like to ask for some advice and opinion from others whether it is a good call to purchase it for movie purposes.
From what I gathered from my previous research is that the headphone must be plugged to a computer to use the 7.1 paired with the xiaomi software for PC to use the 7.1.
Im thinking could I connect the headphone directly to the xiaomi mi box USB port and watch 7.1 / 5.1 videos and have the passthrough feature of the KODI player?
Regarding the Kodi, I found from my searches that since the Android pie update, kodi lost the passthrough support. Is this true?
To anyone who has experience regarding my situation please share your opinions.
Xiaomi Mi box 3 Global Version on Android 9 ---> Xiaomi Gaming Headphone 7.1 plugged to the USB hub connected to the Mi Box --> play videos with 5.1/7.1 Audio using Kodi Player with Passthrough enabled = raw 7.1 Sound from video?????
Any response will be appreciated as I am aiming for Xiaomi Gaming Headphone 7.1 if audio works
if not, I will go for Meizu HD60 which is Hi-Res audio and bluetooth ready with Aptx support.
Thank you

Is Mi 8 variants parts compatible with Pro?

Question MI TRULY WIRELESS ANIMATION NOT WORKING

Hello everyone,
I have a Mi 11 x pro and Mi Truly Wireless Earbuds 2 c .However i have never been able to get the apple like animation on the phone like other user are getting, some thing like the file attached . Can anyone suggest a solution.
For me it's just open the case, keep it close to the phone for a sec and it's done. Try unpairing the earbuds from your phone.
