Have been thinking about picking up a pair of Sony WH1000XM2 that use the LDAC codec over Bluetooth. I was wondering if anyone else has a pair of these (or any Sony headphones that support LDAC).
I've read all the product reviews, I'm mostly wondering if LDAC works properly and if the sound quality and bluetooth reception is good on the OnePlus5 (especially if you're on OpenBeta 6).
Thanks in advance for any insights!
I have the MDR1000X and this model works very well with LDAC and apt-X on every Open Beta version including Open Beta 6
To be honest, I can't hear any difference between LDAC and apt-x with aac 320kbit/s files.

It's been a year I know, but for anyone wondering:
LDAC and all other Codecs are perfectly supported and working with the WH1000XM2 and Oneplus 5. I settled with AAC, since it is the best available codec still allowing to use the Sony Apps inbuilt equalizer.

I found this thread about the OnePlus 3 aptx working codec, that as Axon 7 does not receive official support for standard AptX. It works flawlessly, at least with my headphones LG Infinia HBS900, but only after turning on/off button on headphones. Check presence of the codec with Catlog. Working only on Android N (BadBoys 3.1 now). It should work with Lineage to, worh to make a try.
Really great news since I'm having 2 LG Tone Platinum that's support AptX HD but does this work on stock android and bootloader locked?
I'm not willing to sacrifice 3 year warranty here in Europe and second one I know there's option to re locked bootloader and get back to stock unofficial through XDA but I'm not having the knowledge and don't want to risk as I never done root or unlocking bootloader since I didn't find any benefit on that.

Why would you sacrifice 3 years 3 years warranty. Zte can only deny your warranty by proofing that there is a software error.. (EU law)
You can revert to stock by reflashing stock rom.
Post a step by step explaining how to install this? Also does it work on stock ROMs?

It does, on nougat. B15 and B19. I have been using it for a while.
Just go into the link OP posted and download aptx-hd zip from that thread. Flash it in TWRP and you are done.

Thanks. Two more quick questions:
- After a new ROM is installed and everything is wiped, I assume I'd have to flash this again and it's not off safe in some other partition or something?
- How do I know it's working?

-Yes, you need to flash it again as it installs itself on the system partition in the libs folder.
-Just install MatLog from the playstore to access the logs in real time and grant it root access. Then, filter the logs by typing aptx in the filter bar of MatLog. It won't find anything yet until you start playing your music via bluetooth to your paired aptx/aptx HD device.
(You have to start MatLog BEFORE playing the music via bluetooth or it won't find anything!)
It's kind of disappointing ZTE didn't include official AptX HD support on Axon 7 from beginning.
Not everyone prefer wired headphones but a lot of people prefer Bluetooth wireless stereo headset.
But since there's a way of doing it even now I assume ZTE could implement it in future update.

Well let's hope will see support on Axon 8.
Or why not even different HiFi audio protocol like LDAC that Sony offering on their device witch is on par or even better than AptX HD bring.
One thing is sure my next device must include HIFi audio or else not gone take.
As much Axon 8 is brilliant device no HIFi audio no party to me.

Can flash AptX/AptXHD on official ROM?
Do I also need a custom TWRP?
Has anyone already tried out the aptx-HD-version on their current A2017U or G stock rom?
According to that thread, Lineage OS already supports AptX. Does the device support aptx-hd?
Does This still work on latest Stock Roms like B04 on G version?
Thanks!

Stock A2017G V1.2.0 B05 didn't have APT-X. After flashing zip from first post in TWRP on stock rooted rom APT-X started to work!
Verified in MatLog.
Just received my freebuds ordered through AliExpress. First impressions are comfortable, very secure and sound good for Bluetooth. Haven't had a problem with any dropouts yet but I've only used in work and a bit in the car on the way home. Had to stop using in the car as isolation was too good for safe driving. All in all I'm happy with them.
Got myn to last night..they are magnificant very comfy and neat
Too bad i hot robbed of my p20pro and will probably get another one next week hope so
Thought, oh they look nice.
Looks at the price and moves on.

The apple original ones that cost more than these or £20-£30 knock-offs available on Amazon? Not a fan of the hard plastic earpiece, bass response is really improved when you get a proper seal which isn't really possible without some sort of flexible tip unless apple used your inner ear to model their airpods shape.
Hi, just got my freebuds and paired it with my P20 pro but it says that the bluetooth headset is not supported. Functionality wise, it is working. But i don't see any aptx support. Any idea how to test?

As ch1lko said above you need to enable developer options to see what modes are usable, unfortunately for me its only SBC as selecting anything else just keeps SBC active. May be a bug in the .110 (C782) firmware I'm stuck on. If anyone else has a later version and the freebuds can they check if at least AAC can be selected as that is meant to be supported by the freebuds? One encouraging sign is the Huawei Freebuds app which can update the firmware in the earbuds, with a bit of luck it may be possible to support some lossless codecs in a future update.

Hi, I am already in developer mode but it seems that that option of selecting the desired codec is not available. It just stick to SBC mode regardless what codec i select.

Hi shuflie, I am on .120 (C636) firmware but is facing the same issue. Let see if .130 or .131 firmware does solve the issue?? The freebuds are currently on the latest firmware from my last check. Let's hope this issue can be resolved soon. Have email Huawei on this but is not getting an answer.

Dolby Atmos is supported only with wired headphones. I'm with fw 128 and this is how the phone shows my bt headphones that supports aptX.
Also when I play music I can change the codec through Dev options and the difference in sound quality is quite noticeable between SBC and aptX.

Unfortunately it looks like SBC is the only mode available for the P20 Pro and the freebuds unless they release an update for either the freebuds to support one of the following aptX™, aptX™ HD, LDAC or HWA; or they add ACC into the supported codecs for the P20 pro. The list of codes are the one officially supported according to the Huawei website, strange that they would announce freebuds at the same time as the P20 Pro and only support each other on the lowest Bluetooth audio codec.

I believed this is the current firmware on the freebuds.
Update is here. AAC codec is enabled now.
got mine today and tried immediatly to update.
It failed at about 83% and now left earbud does not work. Just won´t respond. And the App also cannot find the Buds to do the update again.
Tried it a few times and with a second phone and no success.
Anyone here any tipp maybe?
Resseting Connection and reset the freebuds did not change anything :/
Hi,
I just acquired a new Sony bluetooth headset but I suffer from terrible bluetooth quality (gaps of silence while listening, lag, low audio quality): it is barely usable.
Since the headphones provide support for the LDAC codec but apparently LineageOS 7 does not, what can I do?
The stock rom probably provides LDAC support. So does Android Oreo (and maybe LineageOS 8). Is there any way to benefit from the LDAC codec (the headphones also have aptx) on LineageOS 7 without having to go back to the stock rom or buy another phone? Is there a way to port LDAC support from the Z5C's official stock rom to LineageOS?
Thank you for your help
I just bought the Haylou GT1 Pro and is impossible to use them to watch a video with P30 Pro the audio lag from the video is so, sooo bad. Tested with S10 plus and sounds much better. I'm still on 9.1 185 ... Anyone knows how to fix it?
Thanks
Currently, the only way to properly use Bluetooth devices is if they support the aptx codec as its the fastest codec and the P30pro is really bad at handling the other codecs.

buy better one... i have jabra elit 65 active and there is no lag and any other problems... they was also perfect for my old p10, now i am on p30pro
But after test with S10 plus seems that the problem is not the device !
Same here on mate20 pro with Huawei freebuds.
Very very bad delay,
With my old OnePlus no delay at all.
Huawei devices are crappy with Bluetooth.

Second this,
I have Sennheisers True Wireless and its next to 0 lag as well.
While it may work better with the S10 the problem is more the headset using codecs that the S10 may support but the P30 Pro does not.

Go in developer options and change the Bluetooth audio codec. That will fix the Audio lag.

Disappointing, I remember back in 2014 people complaining that MaxxAudio wasn't supported by BT in OPPO Find 7. It's extraordinary that these blasted companies ditch the audio jack and expect people to use BT without the system EQ, which is far superior to the bucket-load of poor third-party EQ apps.
OnePlus 7 Pro doesn't support it, according to support. Sony Xperia 1 I now know does, so it's a choice between that and LG.
Reno 10x has aptx HD via Bluetooth. It means you can enjoy almost lossless audio if you have right headphone. I have an audio Technica Bluetooth headphone with aptx HD. Works amazing with the Reno. Perfect and Crystal clear sound. The problem with aptx HD headphones is that they are expensive. The one i have is 300 $.
