Factory resetting A Pattern locked Android device Ask Question - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hope you guys can help me out, to cut the long story short, I've an old tablet, of which I've forgotten the pattern on and best of all, I've forgotten the email too!
I tried connecting it with my laptop (running Windows 8.1). It only detects as charging cable and from what I've read, I think USB debugging is set to "off" and I can't go to settings and enable it.
I've tried the volume up + power button boot option, it opens the said menu, I select" Recovery mood" the little android bot comes that it's initializing system, etc, and then after few seconds, another animation comes with green android dead with red triangle exclamation mark, written "Error" below only. I tried doing "volume + power" didn't worked.
I've exhausted almost all my options here, any help would be much appreciated.
It's an ASUS tablet.
Thanks

[Q] Chinese tablet hangs after being fully booted, anyway to hard reset?

I've got a Chinese tablet that boots properly up to the unlock screen, where if I'm quick I can unlock, I can see wifi is connected, etc. but around that point it completely freeze, even the power button doesn't turn off the creen and I have to reset it by long pressing the power button.
I tried all combinations of keys to bring up a recovery (power + volumes) without luck so far. If I press any volume or back key while powering up, the tablet doesn't power up and stays black. adb isn't finding the tablet. I opened the tablet, there are pins to connect a rx/tx serial. I could do connect a serial adapter to it if that could be of any help.
Actually, at this point I don't care much about the tablet but that could be a good opportunity to start learning a bit more about Android hardware development, just don't know exactly where to start.
Any tip?

[Q] Rom Image Polaroid pmid710x

A student in my first grade class asked me to look at his tablet. I have played around with rooting nooks and Samsung galaxy tabs so I figured the Polaroid would not be too much of a problem. Unfortunately I can't find any firmware on the Polaroid website.
It is a Polaroid pmid710x tablet
When it gets turned on, it just stays at the Polaroid logo with a swirling icon
When I try to factory reset it by holding power and volume up, I get an image of an android with a red triangle and ! coming out of his chest but no options to factory reset or anything else.
I have also put a pin in the hole in the back for 20-30 seconds which still causes it to boot to the Polaroid logo and stop
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Factory Reset for Polaroid PMID710x
Someone had asked me to see if I could reset their Polaroid tablet as they had played with the screen password and couldn't remember. Usually its a matter of just going to the Polaroid support web site and downloading firmware but this model was not included on their page.
When turned off hold down POWER and + (volume button) until you get the picture of the dead android with the red warning. At that point I just played with holding down the Power, press - button and then + button volume key until a menu came up that had a factory reset option.

[Q] Can't Get Pass Opening Screen

3 weeks ago I finally spent the $20.00 and replaced the defected battery in my Sanei N78 tablet. During the week that followed I had no trouble that is till a week later.
After using my Tablet till the battery ran down and shut it self off I plugged it in to recharge. This time however, instead of getting the Android opening screen, I got nothing. So I pressed the power button till the Sanei's logo spinning color wheel page appeared. But, instead of continuing booting on in to the Android opening screen, it just stayed stuck on that spinning color wheel.
Since this has happen to me before I proceeded to use what I call the reset command (pressing the power and up volume buttons simultaneously).
Yet, instead of giving me a choice to reset or not, all I got the Android logo laying on its back with its access panel open and an exclamation point in a red triangle. Which after a few minutes returns to the spinning color wheel page?
I keep trying difference combinations of the power/volume up/volume down buttons; however, all I get is the "dead" Android logo or the spinning color wheel.
I have also tried disconnected the battery and let the Tablet sit unpowered for the next 48 hours - It didn't work:crying:
What has gone wrong?
Has the “drive” containing the Android operation system failed? Has Android itself become corrupted? Is there a fix?
When I asked this question to a site that sell only Sanei tablets I was told to hold the power button for 5 to 10 seconds. Well, I have and nothing changes. I was also informed that another answer is to reinstall the firmware.
As for the latter, I would like to try, but, the only way I could is to download it to a thumb drive from the computer I am using to post this message and either run it off that or use my home Win98 OS computer (BTW: I have connected the tablet to my home computer and while 2 drive icons do appear in My Computer any attemp to open them give me a "drive not ready" message. This because this public computer that I am using will not premit under any cirsumstances a tablet to be connected to it
Is this possible?
If not, then I have another paperweight for my desk

[Q] Xperia Tablet S (SGPT1211) not responding to reset/boot comands

Hello,
I think I might be at the end of the road with my tablet. I've never rooted it or tampered with it in an way, however yesterday it locked up so I did the usual soft reset (hold power and vol+ for 10 seconds) I then turned it back on and the sony logo popped up, but there it just hung. If I press and hold the power button it switches off, a brief press on the power button brings it back on in the same state. So I go Googling, including looking at threads on this site, all seemed to advise to try to get the Android recovery menu up. on the Sony this is done by holding the power and vol+ and then releasing the power button (only) when the son logo appears (this process to be started when the tablet is off) so I did this, and no response at all. Worse than that, where it would turn on and instantly hang, it now doesn't turn on at all. Hooking it up to my PC I can see the device in device manager, but it tells me my usb device has malfunctioned.
At the moment, my thoughts are to open it up, to:
1. Check that the power/volume buttons aren't stuck in some way (preventing the boot command being given correctly)
2. Remove and resolder if necessary internal battery to force a power cycle.
3. Bin it and get something new (it is 2.5yrs old so no big loss i suppose)
Any ideas where to look or similar experiences?
Thanks

HP chromebook 14 developer mode

Hi, I've literally searched anywhere and cannot find any answers but i have a HP chromebook 14 and wish to enter developer mode. It used to before but i had to powerwash with a failed linux install and when i hold escape + refresh + tap power it does nothing. if i hold power with the other 2 it logs out then another attempt shuts the system down. The escape key and refresh keys function alone.
is it possible there is a hardware problem where it wont accept all 3 combined? Bearing in mind i have tried an external keyboard and got the exact same result.
I've tried:
external keyboard
powerwash
all different channels of chrome (stable, beta and developer)
trying the key presses in every different combination from opening the lid etc
also refresh + power dosnt hard reset it just does the same as with escape being held down.
Could there be a software problem linked with the key presses? I really want some help because i find where i live now and the lack of wifi out and about unbearable to use this machine without some way to work offline and install to SSD
Thanks in advance if you can help
Turn on your chromebook and hold down ESC+refresh+power until it turns back on to a screen says "chrome os is missing or damaged" at this screen press Ctrl+D and press enter at the next screen it should turn on developer mode. This will take about 10 minutes or more depending on how much stuff you have on the Chromebook. After it finishes reboot and at the screen that says " is verification is off" press Ctrl+d and then you should be able to log into google.
can i do it with an hp 14 chromebook? the model is ak-039wm
