Hi guys, you can unlock you N7105 via the Samsung hidden menu. [Also works with N7100 and some Galaxy S3 (SIII) variants - NOT ALL]
#############################################
I can confirm the unlock survives ROM flashing
#############################################
Before doing the instructions below, please double check your phone that it is actually LOCKED by inserting a sim card from a different carrier/provider...you may or may not leave that sim card on the phone while unlocking
Unlock your N7105:
Click to collapse
Note: your phone must be running at least Jelly Bean 4.1.1 (if 4.1.1 does not work, try 4.1.0) otherwise some of the menu choices are not present
Just dial the following keys *#197328640#
Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF > (after choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds, then go back one step by pressing the Menu button then select Back, now you are in [6] Network Lock then choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ ..... wait for a minute then reboot your phone... enjoy!!! There is no confirmation on the phone that the unlock was successfull.... just reboot your phone....
To test, just insert a sim card from a different carrier/provider. If the new sim card works then your phone is now unlocked.
I have done this to my other Note 2 N7105 originally locked to Orange.....
========================================
Do this procedure AT YOUR OWN RISK
========================================
To those who were able to unlock their phone with the method above, can you please post in the thread and let us know which phone model (N7100 or N7105) you have, Country and Network/Carrier your phone was locked to...... and if I have saved you some cash, please click the Thanks button or the Donate button on the left just below my name to buy me a can/bottle of Heinekken, Quilmes, Budweiser, Fosters, Tiger, Stella Artois, or San Miguel :cyclops: ...
========================================
NOTICE:
To those having "Conditional Call Forwarding" pop up message or similar pop ups appear everytime you make a call (but they disappear within a few seconds), this is normal with an old sim card, or when using a ported number. There is no restriction to calls or internet or whatever. This is confirmed by my provider when I walked in and asked them about it. They even showed me one of their sample Note 2's and S3's having the same message.
========================================
I have mentioned in my old thread that there was a pop up message that says "Conditional call forwarding active" everytime I make a phone call using another SIm card that the phone was not able to use before unlocking.
I can confirm that this was due to my Sim card. It is a very old O2 sim card that I have used for years. I have tried that Sim card on another factory unlocked phone (Galaxy i8160 bought from P4u) and it had the same message.
Can anyone confirm that this is a full sim unlock?

I have tried 3, O2, giffgaff, and an Asian roaming sim and the phone have signal and does not prompt for network password like it did before unlocking...

No problems. I did the steps did not work. Did them a second time, looks like it worked.
Used a verizon LTE sim, but they are a CDMA carrier. First time I tried the verizon sim asked for unlock code. Tried steps again and second time it did not calk for sim unlock code. I got signal but the notification bar still said searching.
Works perfectly on the AT&T SGH-I317! T-Mobile SIM had no issues.
OMG it work im in the UK & my note 2 WAS lock on EE now im using my o2 THANK U i don't have to pay EE to unlock my phone:good:
Wow. I fricckin paid $25x3 codes for ours...
Could have saved me $75 bucks.
I wonder if this works on galaxy s3??
Thanks for sharing !

Put a sim from another carrier. If the phone does not ask for a code and you can use that sim to make calls then it worked.
just unlocked my at&t phone for free! Thanks OP!! Tested by inserting my old vzw lte sim. Before unlocking I got a pop up asking for the unlock code after putting in the vzw sim. After going though the steps it no longer asks me for the unlock code! Success!!
Hmm, this might open some very interesting options ...

Hmm, this might open some very interesting options - one of them being that the Samsung private key was somehow compiled into the modem tool inside the ROM; I wonder if that might be extracted from there and if that is Samsung-wide or just N710x-wide; what I do not doubt so much is that if that works so well then the next official ROM will remove it - but if I am right about the key it will remain valid so tools based on that could be made :good:
I can imagine that the official response from samsung on this would be "oops"! Fantastic
Thank OP for the excellent information, you just saved me $25 bucks.
I am getting greedy, can someone come up with the steps to root the phone?
Can confirm it works on ATT and T-Mobile. I did my att one and my friends t-mobile on a few minutes ago. Thanks OP

Thanks.
Op you are legendary, can I ask how you discovered this? I'm interested in finding the other hidden codes for the Samsung LTE phones.
Work for me on n7105 from Orange, however the menus did not behave in an intuitive way. It might be worth explaining what happens/what to expect with your details.
Has anyone tried putting the lock back on? Is it possible?
Also do you have any credits to share, I like to know all the people who helped - after all; networking is the key to success.
Again, legendary. Thank you.

No problem. I just found out about the secret code somewhere on xda, but it was for another topic I couldn't remember. But I never read about it being able to unlock the phone. I just carefully played with the menu and accidentally found about it.
I have not tried putting the lock back on.... who knows we cannot unlock it again... if you want to try it, feel free and please let us know, but for me, I will not

edit:
what do you mean by it did not behave in an intuitive way?

Did a search and there's a plethora of codes here
AT&T GN2 - worked perfectly. Thanks OP!
Does anyone know how I could lock into LTE only mode? The phones I am using (T-Mobile & AT&T S5) is not rooted. Nor am I allowed to root it. I've search through all of the debug menus and its seems like I can only lock into certain bands. I havent had any success sending AT commands either....but I am not sure this would still even be capable as I do not know the Qualcomm AT commands to lock into a certain RAT.
Try this: Dial *#*#4636#*#*, look for LTE only option and select that. Hit home to clear out of dialer. Hope this works!

This works on most phones, but not the S5 for some reason. It must be another code.

Ok, so I figured it out. If you dial *#2263# and select "LTE Band Preference" it will lock it into LTE only (I am using an unlocked T-Mobile phone, not sure if that makes a difference). I have confirmed this via AT Commands. I have a new question. I have queried what bands can be selected. Does anyone know which one would be for LTE Band 17? What is "41.WLAN_US_5000"...

How to Flash U Firmware On AT&T and Keep Volte & video calling and get lte band 17
So after Doing some looking around i found out how to get volte and video calling working, and enable band 17 on G930U. I dont take credit for this. i seen it on a different forum and just wanna make sure people know how to fix it.
For starters if you dont have g930u or dont know what it is. heres a great thread about it with easy to follow instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s7/how-to/xda-community-love-g930u-t3415875
Okay so after you flash the U Firmware.
edit the others.xml in System/csc. Scroll to the bottom of the xml and change volte and video calling to TRUE. Save and then reboot. The options will be in settings and the video calling icon will be in the dialer.
and to re-enable band I7 Open the dial pad
Type: *#0011# to enter Service Mode (Be very careful with what you do here)
Note: You need to be rooted for this to work
Once in Service Mode, do the following:
Tap the menu button and tap Back
Tap the menu button again and select "Key Input" and enter an upper case Q and press OK
Tap the menu button again and select "Key Input" and enter 4 zeroes (0000) and press OK
Wait 5 - 15 seconds. You'll see the Main Menu
Choose option [2]: UE SETTING & INFO
Choose option [1]: SETTING
Choose option [1]: PROTOCOL
Choose option [2]: NAS
Choose option [1]: NETWORK CONTROL
Choose option [4]: BAND SELECTION
Choose option [4]: LTE Band Preference
Choose option [7]: LTE ALL (Or you can choose any band instead)
If you want to go back then tap the menu button and choose Back (Don't press the back key)
Once again guys i take no credit for any of this. ive just seen people looking for the information and decided to put it all together for you
I am just curious, what's the benefit of enabling B17 on the device given that AT&T has B12 MFBI enabled throughout its network?
Does this enable the enhanced LTE voice? When you go to About Device > Status does it show IMS registration status as "Registered"? None of the carrier specific features will work unless the IMS is registered on the AT&T network.

What I understand is that none of the carrier specific features will work unless the AT&T network registers your phone. They have certain models they will recognize on their network for those features. 930U is not one of those models.

IMO this is because of the stupid AT&T policy, not because the phone does not support it.
AFAIK not being able to use band 17 is Samsung's problem right?

The S7 has wifi calling on the ATT branded rom. It's the stupid (or smart in a business sense) way they change things to their own proprietary format. If you want wifi calling then you have to buy their phone, not the U version.

That's what I'm saying it has wifi calling, but it does not work on the ATT network because they changed their rom for their wifi calling, the built in Wifi calling in the U rom does not work with ATT.

Same here. If you just want to access the network settings you can download an app like "ForceLTE" or similar.
I'm facing the same problem, I am appreciated if anyone have the solution?
Check your carrier and location
Whether you can use VoLTE or not depends on a few things:
* Your location, your account with your carrier, and the model of your phone.
* The carrier, carrier account, location, and phone model of the person you're calling.
* Some carriers support VoLTE only in certain cities or area codes. Contact your carrier to ask about your area and account.

Thanks for your reply, the problem is I have no problem to have VOLTE by using Galaxy S10 with same sim card and I couldn't find the volte "switch" in the oppo UI and couldn't turn on/off. As a result couldn't use the VOLTE function. Therefore I do think it is the firmware problem from Oppo.
I just thinking about if I could flash the official Taiwan rom of same global phone model to my current one for solving the problem. But I'm not sure if it is workable or not.

Ah. I have CPH1919 (UK) and only option is call over Wi-fi. There is also no way to get to the hidden service menu either like in every other phone I've had.
If you know for sure that Taiwan firmware has it, then I suppose, in theory, it would work providing that it is also definitely CPH1919 - any other variant has different partition structure. Be careful. Read around and let us know. Good luck
I have a CPH1919TW, it's using the same global firmware as CPH1919EX (even Oppo TW provides CPH1919EX ROM for download), the phone will ID itself as CPH1919TW.
