Face recognition with glasses doesn't work? - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

I normally dont use glasses, but i use it from time to time to rest my eyes , and the face/iris recognition struggles to unlock , is there any way around this? I putted my face without glasses, should i put with glasses on and hope when i dont have them on it unlocks properly?
Isn't there any way of adding more than one face? One with and without glasses like the fingerprints?
Who has glasses how do you deal with this?

I have the same issue. I'm guessing it's because of the glare reflected or something. If you raise you glasses off your eyes it'll work

I'm using intelligent scan and I wear glasses.
I'd say it works for me about 90% of the time.

Yes.
Something I did, not sure if it plays a part in helping. But I opened my eyes just a little wider than normal when setting up recognition.

Sorry for being annoying but, does the mobile still detect you perfectly if you don't have you're glasses on?
Because i putted my face without them, that's probably one of the problems i don't know

I wear glasses, and face recognition works fine, but I did the initial setup with my glasses on, too.

Exactly i think the best thing is to do it with the glasses on. I need to try it out in a few hours

It works a LOT better with glasses on than if you record a face with glasses off

S-Pen Near Screen

When I'm trying to draw or write on my note, when I go to use it, it draws when i get within two inches or so of the screen....
So my regular, non-cursive, writing looks like crap. Bad.
How can I turn that functionality off, or turn sensitivity down?
***Tap the S-Pen on something hard, and see if there is a difference. Took me three tries.
I'm pretty sure that is not a feature, and is a defect either in the software or unfortunately the hardware. You might need a new S Pen to fix the problem the right way.
There's a youtube video out there on how to "fix" this issue, but what it really does is reduce the sensitivity of the pen to the screen and you probably lose some serious pressure levels when applying this fix. Sorry no link, but I would advise trying your S Pen on the verizon floor model and see if it does the same thing to that one. Then you can feel fairly certain you need a replacement pen.

I was thinking the same thing... if the pen is dropped and the tip is pushed back in to the pressure sensor then it would be 'active' all the time and the hover feature would be interrupted by the phone like touching the screen. A flat tip would be a good indication of that being the case.

yeah that happened to me too briefly. the pen nib is stuck down so it thinks it's touching the screen when it gets in range of the screen

I've read that this happens when you use your finger to touch the s-pen tip/point.
I had the same problem on my s-pen too. But yea, the tapping on a hard surface seems to work.

check to see if the tip of the s pen is pressed in as it would be if you were touching the screen. It is a physical button that pushes in while writing.

Sensitive s pen

The screen picks up the s pen movements and starts writing before I touch the pen to the screen. Any way to change this?
EDIT I figured it out

Care to elaborate for those who might have this problem in the future? I've heard it can be solved by tapping the stylus on a hard surface but I'm interested to know how you solved it.

I'm one of those people. I thought this was the way it was supposed to act and thought it was a horrible horrible design. I would rather have it act like a regular damn stylus. I can't use it because things skip around, and it selects things I don't want.
Using the googles, I did find this

i had the same issue until i tapped it on a desk a few times...works perfect now.

Promxity sensor?

Hi I'm wondering if the note has a proximity sensor? Maybe we can lock the phone using some apps when using a flip cover.
It already locks with book cover if you select "lock instantly with power key" in settings.
You can check your device's available sensors by

Do have a dialer haha.. Using the lte version. Anyway too bad we do not have a proximity sensor.
I don't see the need for a sensor like that. Magnetic covers already work out of the box. Also the light sensor could be used for stuff like covers and pockets right?

Samsung releases these covers also. It should be fine. I use the s-view cover on my S4 without troubles for some months now. I also have an IPad second gen since release with a magnetic cover. It's been on there for ages and not a single problem.
If a magnetic cover destroys the device while Samsung devices have options for these things, at least you'll get it repaired or replaced.

[Q] gap in display waterproof

just got my z2 and when sat in dark room with brightness turned up the bottom left of the screen shines a bit of light between the plastic trim and the glass display
now i am not bothered by this but will it leak water in when submerged? or am i been paranoid
also noticed the flash is off center a bit apart from that everything seems ok
thanks:laugh:
I think gaps do compromise waterproof, and the off set camera or flash led is a early batch fault
Take note that i recomend you getting a replacement

In my question thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2793532) I got the answer that it doesn't really affect waterproofing because the seal is made over a larger area than the gaps.
The gaps I have are at the top right, bottom left, and the middle of the entire left side (very minimal but noticeable to my very focusing eyes - I regret looking that close to my device)
Thanks for the replys the gap doesn't bother me just worried water would get in and the slight misalignmen of the camera flash doesn't seem to affect anything so I should be good shouldt I?
Thanks

problem is dont think id get a replacement as ive had it since 1st june and dont fancy having it sent off couse my experience you get it back worse then when it first went :crying:
well it was annoying me so i thought what the hell i filled a bowl up and put the phone in the bowl (which even a waterproof phone i dont understand the point in doing lol) anyway after a minuet or so the phone seems all ok there was no bubbles coming from the phone to show water getting in and all seems ok so the gaps in my phone at least seems water tight (hopefully):victory:

It feels like a raised lip. Quite minor but there is definitely a slight less than what seems to be like half a mm raise.

So a glass screen protector would level it out, maybe?

Is there any way to decrease the contrast? I enabled srgb mode in dev. Settings and my eyes still hurt... I used basic settings on my s6 since the other 2 amoled settings hurt my eyes.. If not, then sadly I have to return this device and I love it.

Yeah. The glass screen protectors hopefully account for the slight raise. If so, it will level it out. Get the thinnest glass possible.

This might not answer your question completely, but hopefully it helps. I'm typing this on a rooted, decrypted 5x. Fingerprint works perfectly and Android pay is working for me if I go into Supersu and disable root. I can add cards and I was able to pay with it. If root is checked in Supersu it will fail though.
Well, that works for me. I can live without Pay for a while. I really want to keep fingerprinting intact. Thanks
