Jlinksz qt-10.1 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Found a cheap Chinese tablet with an octa-core processor model number mt6592t. The advertisement on new frog said it had Android 7.0 on it. When it came in it actually has Android 4.4 version 7.0. I am a little upset to say the least. However, if any of you developers are interested in this tablet I'm may keep it around. Not sure but I feel it has potential. It has an unlocked bootloader , dual SIM card slots, and 64g storage.

[Q] Nook 16GB

Hi, I'd like to buy nook tablet 16GB.
My question is if it is different in any other way than the 8GB?
Is rooting procedure the same?
I know it might be a silly question but I've seen that many people around have only 8GB.
And the last question, maybe I'm a little bit lazy, but does root procedure enable me to do the dual boot, or I can do it without rooting? Is dual booting more efficient than just "modding"?
the first model came with 1GB of working ram and the later comes with 512MB so that one fact is giving the forum developers a 'major' pain...
.
imho, i believe you just need to go to the general section and do some reading of the FAQ posts...
Simply rooting on the stock OS enables access to content/features you otherwise would not have. However, there are still some limitations. You could thus install cm7 or cm9 (cm9 only for 16gb model) internally, saying goodbye to the stock OS entirely. You could leave the internal OS alone and make a bootable SD card for cm7 on either NT model. This would thus allow you to either boot into cm7 or B&N android (dual boot). Do some reading and see what fits your needs best.
I should note that while many people avoid replacing the internal OS due to worries about voiding the warranty, it is trivially easy to return this thing back to stock conditions and B&N would never be the wiser.

What do you mean by "working" RAM?
Like every model has 1GB of RAM, but later ones have only access to 512MB?
Last fall, Barnes & Noble unveiled its Nook Tablet in a very distinct way. Instead of matching the Kindle Fire’s $200 price, the CEO systematically trashed the Fire with an entire slide show full of ways that the Nook Tablet was superior to the Fire (spec comarison here) and worth its more expensive $250 price tag. Among its vital advantages was double the storage (16GB) and RAM (1GB) of the Fire. Compared to these specs, the Fire underpowered and slow, the B&N argued. It’s only been a few months, but oh how things have changed. Today, B&N unveiled a new version of the Nook Tablet with the same RAM and storage as the Kindle Fire. The price: $200.
To be fair, even with the drastic cut in specs, the Nook Tablet does still have a few advantages over the Kindle Fire. We were never able to obtain a Nook Tablet for review, but from our impressions at the launch event, the ‘VividView’ display on Nook is much better and the microSD slot for expanded storage is nice, if you need it. But the cut in RAM will likely mean that the tablet will lose that quick responsiveness that separated it from the sluggish Fire.

Is there any way (except from asking a question to a seller) to find if this tablet has 1GB of RAM?

[Q] Gigabyte GSmart Maya and Gsmart Rio - any experience and reviews?

It seems that our phone market here (in Croatia) has recently been updated with some brands i haven't seen before - Gigabyte and Prestigio. I know them as tablet and/or computer peripherals manufacturers, but i haven't really known that they also made phones.
My friend bought a Prestigio phone a few months ago and he is satisfied with it, although i can't get any detailed infos from him since he only uses it for calls and angry birds when he's on the toilet
Today i noticed two Gigabyte phones that are both packed with features and seem to be a good bargain, considering price and what is stated as phones' specs. Here are the two ones i noticed:
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=5400&idPhone2=5401
I'm wondering has anyone had any experience with these phones? For the price, (a little more than €200 - a really good price for that kind of phone here) they almost seem too good to be true. I was also wondering what's the real difference between the processors? Both of them have 1gHz dual core, but the Rio model (cheaper and weaker) has Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon, and the more expensive Maya model has MTK 6577. I have heard of Snapdragon before, and i think it should be a good processor, but i have no information on the latter one.
Oh, and maybe it's good to note that the cheaper, Rio model comes with android 4.0, with no possibility of upgrade, and Maya comes with 4.1
Anyways, what should I expect of these phones? Should I consider buying any of them at all? Did anyone try to root them and put any custom rom on them?
also, this model popped into my eyes... also a gigabyte phone:

I bought RIO R1 yesterday so its quite new for me, but as I used many android phones I can compare it quite well.
I can compare it to htc desire, wildfire s, sensation and many others
so the biggest problem is battery drain, but Im used to charge battery often so its not so big deal for me.
problem is with headphones, only the ones packed with phone works ok, but I will try more of them (htc headphones start music application and radio is only mono)
phone is little bit laggy but Im trying to get rid of apps I dont want.
root was easy done in 5 minutes and the most of the time was used for searching for right drivers and software.
I found CWM but its for A30 and phone does not show anything in recovery mode. I tried [email protected] but got nothing. I will try to search and play with it.
both sim cards work great (only one sim can be used for hi-speed internet, second one is only on edge), you can choose the time to choose from which card will you call or use predefined.
you can set own ringtone for every sim card and if you get sms or call you can see on which sim card.
I installed all apps from my htc desire and its much faster but I have problem with my favourite launcher - action launcher. I will try nova launcher as I have paid version.
Im waiting for 4.1 or higher or maybe I will also try to compile it for tests.

[Q] Recommendation for budget Android phone for casual gaming for kids

My nephew (7 years old) is keen on getting a mobile gaming platform. Rather than buying a dedicated device like a Nintendo DS (or whatever the latest is called) I was thinking a budget Android mobile with big screen would probably work better. The phone wouldn't be used with a SIM card and thus has the benefits of being cheaper (initial outlay) and access to tons of free games. All the games would be downloaded and updated whilst on WiFi but out and about there would be no internet connection. The phone doesn't even need a beefy processor because even the simple and graphically non-taxing games would suffice.
I had first thought of the Orange (UK) Monte Carlo phone as that was only around £100 for the PAYG handset outright. However, they no longer do this handset. I see they do an Orange San Diego handset which seems promising but no idea how good the Intel Atom processor and 2.3 gingerbread OS would be for the usage scenario needed.
I'm happy to unlock, root and put on a custom ROM on the intended phone to get it to a more recent Android OS version if the one it comes with is quite outdated. However, it does need to playable and usable (even if it isn't the snappiest handset).
Any other suggestions or comments?
P.S: I'm based in the UK as is my nephew
Why not consider an entry level 7inch Android Tablet? My family own several Sumvision Cyclone Voyagers. JB 4.1.1, dual core RK3066 and benchmarks on a par with the Nexus 7 Tablet. This is a Chinese tablet but is sold by several mainstream UK retailers at around the £75 mark.
You'll see mixed reviews, mainly because the shipped firmware was buggy with lags and freezes being common, but current official firmware is good. It's reasonably easy to root, and there is CWM recovery available, and unofficial pre-rooted firmware. I haven't tried any custom ROMS, but there are a least a few users experimenting them.

[Q] Polaroid S7 Tablet 7"

I purchased this this tablet yesterday @ Kohls for $99.00. It has decent specs for such an inexpensive tablet. HDMI out, Blue tooth, 4 gig internal storage, MicroSD card slot, 1 gig system Ram, front and rear facing Cams(Not so great in the megapixel dept but it has both cameras!) Dual Core processor.
Here are my issues: It does not have Google Play store on it (It does have the Amazon Store though and some lesser stores as well, but I need the Google play store. Also There is very little in the way of documentation on this tablet. I don't know if it is because of this being a new tablet from Polaroid or not. I would also love to Root this as well. Below are the model number and other important info from the tablet. Any help in getting the Play store installed and also getting this tablet rooted would be surely appreciated! Thanks in advance for your responses

Buzztv vidstick St4000 (better than firestick) 2gb 16gb android 9

Hey guys just posting here about this amlogic s905y2 powered stick I've came across on another forum.
After modding some firestick 4k and 2nd gen tanks I wish I'd came across these sooner lol
Check it out :
https://www.kuul.co.uk/set-top-box/...00-4k-ultra-hd-android-9-iptv-hdmi-stick.html
If the 2gb 16gb is not enough for you there is also a 4gb 32gb model coming soon with the same android 9 etc.
Rumoured to be running rings round Amazon's firestick (both tank and 4k)
Lets hope some development comes its way to spice it up a little bit:good:
