NON-WIFI Network IPv4 address - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

Could it be possible that all the phones in my home were compromised? When I go to Settings> About Phone >Status: I get an IPv6 address and an IPv4 address of 192.0.0.4
I would see any issues with that, but 3 different T-mobile network devices have the same IPv4, and even one of my friends whom I talk to a lot also has the same IPv4. Recently I caught an intruder on my home network, but I think he got to the phones before I was able to clean the system.
Again, I want to stress that the IPv4 is not from my Home Network, the IP is being assigned by T-mobile.
Thank you before hand!!

AT&T APN proxy?

Coming from Sprint, the Epic 4G had a proxy configuration in the stock setting that I assumed monitored and filtered traffic from the wireless radio. I have had no side effects with my previous phone after deleting the proxy address.
My question is:
Will deleting AT&T's "wireless.cingular.com" proxy setting alter the performance of my phone?
Proxy is for the benefits of carrier, not consumer. Yes, you can delete it without issues. But out of box, the phone is configured to use 'phone' apn without a proxy. There is also a wap apn with proxy but that is only used for mms and GPS supl data. Neither are editable.

IPSEC VPN issues found

Ok so I live on my phone and need my VPN. the wife surprised me and got a new S5 to replace my old S3. I tried to use the VPN client like i had on my S3 and it wouldnt work. Here is what I did in order to get it to work. Mind you I tried everything and this is what i found that fixed it.
1. go into settings, More networks, Mobile networks, Access Point Names, and hit the + at the top to add a new APN
2. name the APN whatever you want
a. under APN insert fast.t-mobile.com
b. under MMSC insert http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
c. under APN type insert default, mms, supl
d. change APN protocol to IPv4/IPv6 ***this is what it caused my connection to fail, the default APN was set only for IPv6
e. change APN roaming protocol to IPv4/IPv6
Hopefully this helps

WiFi Tether Router

using the latest version of the app, copied everything from the default (non-editable) APN to a new one just so I can change the APN to IPv4. made sure this new APN was selected and then... no connection to the Internet as the 4G LTE icon disappears. If I change the APN to IPv4/IPv6 then the 4G LTE icon appears again. Regardless when I connect my laptop to the app's SSID, Windows tells me there's no Internet connectivity. Any suggestions on what I might be missing?
You should be able to keep it on the default setting there.
What apn are you using

[Q] Disable IPv6 on LTE?

I didn't even notice this till the other day but the M9 has IP6 enabled by default. Just an idea but they could be related to some of the data problems this phone has had such as some apps not working, etc. Sprint appears to have fixed most of it on the back end however I would still like to disable IP6 anyway. I did give the app Disable IPv6 [root] a try however this just disabled IP6 for the wi-fi connection and not LTE.
I noticed in the PDN internet settings, the IP Version is set to IPv4v6 by default. When I change it to IPv4 only, the phone will no longer connect to LTE at all. It also appears to clear the APN settings out so even if you change it back to the default, I was unable to reconnect to LTE until I did a profile update.
The phone gets a 10/10 score on http://test-ipv6.com/ but again I think this might be causing some of the issues and would just like to disable IP6 all together. You can also verify your IPv6 addy in the 4G settings menu it will show your IPv6 addy. Any ideas how to force this back to ipV4 and still connect to LTE?

You are under the assumption your provider is even handing out IPv4 on LTE........ Sprint may not be.

It looks like that may be the case unless I need to change another setting. LTE won't get a connection if set to ipv4 like I said. Although my M8 would pick up an ip4 address on LTE so this could be a more recent change. If I set the phone to CDMA it will draw a ip4 address but this phone can't hold a 3G connection and just bounces to 1X all the time.

Local IP addresses (IPv4 and IPv6)

Hi.
I have Wifi disconnections frequently on my phone (Xiaomi Redmi 5) and my researches lend me to focus on IPv6.
When my phone is connected to my home Wifi, I can see in the connections parameters that there are 2 local IP addresses : one IPv4 and another IPv6.
I disabled in my router settings the IPv6 management but my phone still has an IPv6 address.
What do I need to do (On the router or on the phone) to get rid of it?
Thanks!
Dude, i was just coasting down the information highway, not actually looking for this, but found it nonetheless, and coincidentally i go thru the same rather annoying events. Did you ever solve it? Care to share?
Yep, it appears to me that while using a VPN disconnections didn't occur anymore.
I don't understand why but if works.
I use this workaround since.
I'll give that a try! Thanks
I don't think it's a problem with ipv4 or ipv6. precisely if you don't establish an IP address it can't be connected to WiFi. maybe you can try resetting the Router you are using. CMIIW
@Double Jo
A Local IP address ( to be corect: Private IP address ) is an IP address that's reserved for internal use behind a router or other Network Address Translation (NAT) device, apart from the public. Private IP addresses are in contrast to public IP addresses, which are public and can't be used within a home or business network
The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) reserves the following IP address blocks for use as private IP addresses:
10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255
As one can see those all are IPv4 addresses.
