On my Galaxy Note 8 I noticed in settings > cloud and accounts > accounts > Samsung account > password and security > connected services > Under app or website it lists "Remote PC". What is this? How do I turn it off and/or delete it? Does everyone have this on their phone as well?

Hi
I am new to this forum. I have an XDA trion and am attempting to set it up with a Nikkai (from Maplin) GPS reciever. All software has been installed, however the software doesn't seem to pick up the signal from the reciever.
Any suggestions?
Phill
What software are you trying to use it with?
Have you paired the device and set a serial port?
Have you configured the software to use the same serial port?
Tell us more...
I am using Tom Tom software.
I have been through the bluetooth connection wizzard and it offers a serial port connection, which has been selected.
On the GPS reciever, I had assumed it would connect automatically, how would I find out which port it needs to use on the device?
Phill
Need to do two things:
First with tomtom 5x or 6:
1. You need to pair your bluetooth device (this means adding the device to your bluetooth device list)
comm mgr > start bluetooth > bluetooth settings > add device > provide passcode for pairing > select serial port > done!
2. Now you need to add a outgoing port:
bluetooth settings > add port > select your paired device > add a port that is suitable (I use com port 09) > optionally check secure connection> done !
Turn bluetooth off !!! Tomtom usually controls bluetooth so it will turn on and off automatically.
Now start Tomtom choose preferences and go to GPS setting:
Select bluetooth GPS and then configure to use port (09 in my case) which you created. Then you should start seeing signals....
Hope this helps. Good-luck!
Hi,
I'm a new Android-User and a new Forum-User. I got a x10 mini pro this week. I'm wondering why my device must be always connected? It has to update my mail-accounts always one time per hour. On other systems this is normal: The internet connection is established when used.
I found this out by google search: There should be this setting: Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Enable always-on mobile data. That is just what I'm looking for. But on my device there isn't such an option.
It's a x10 mini pro from sony ericsson. Newest SE-Firmware-Version (2.0.2.A.0.24 Android 2.1) Why do I don't have this option? Is where another solution for this problem? I don't like to switch data-connection off an on by myself. The device is rooted. Any suggestions for an app that can do that? I've tried JuiceDefender but it doesn't actually do what I want.
thanks for your help.
Always On Data
Huh?
But the applications let you tell it how often to check for updates? There were a few the last time I checked.

Hi, i believe that you refer to "data traffic" option. "data traffic" option enables/disables your phone data traffic, that is, enables/disables you mobile internet.
You can find this option in:
Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Data Traffic
When you disable (uncheck) "Data traffic" you wont be able to use at all mobile internet untill you enable it again.
To help you with fast enable/disable data traffic there is also a stocked widget that allows you to turn on/off data traffic, its called "Data Traffic". To put it on one of home screens, long press on one of the home screens, then meny will pop with bunch of options, select: Widgets > Data traffic. And wola!! You have it on home screen.
That way you dont need to go trough all the longer process on entering settings menu.
Anyway, i dunno why you wanna disable it, it eats very little of internet, and i find it useful bunch of times.
Good morning Thanks for your replies.

I run only few applications like k9 mail. They can do that.

No I don't refer to that option. This widget is already on my screen. But with this I have to enable and disable it manually.
On the big X10 should be the always on option. You can check out this link: <can't post this link, cause' I'm a new user >
I wonder if I can manage to set this in the system files without being able to tick this in the settings.
I've installed a nightly build cm 10.1 yesterday. But when I tap the icon of my provider I activate 3g before disabling my connection. I don't want to connect to the internet by 3g, only with wifi to prevent a high bill.
When i synchronise with gmail, all my apps installed on my tablet are being installed on my phone, I can't find the setting for this. I only want to synchronise with my contact in gmail.
You could disable mobile data in network settings, but when you have wifi it will use that first for data.
On the apps question, you must have ticked the 'backup and restore this device' option when you entered your Google account during phone setup.

Problem is that you can active 3g with a single button, this is crucial for me because I don't want my children access the internet without wifi. I think I'll try a different rom, maybe fox hound.
Quick setting buttons can be removed via quick settings panel usually .

My Sony Z2 automatically deactivates mobile data and/or WiFi.
I have not been able to detect any pattern or logical explanation.
Why does it do that?
"Stamina mode" is off.

great answer, thank you
1) I will try Setting >> WiFi > Advance > Keep WiFi On During Sleep.
2) no WiFi related apps, no changes in settings (other than default)

Does anyone have any idea abt Huawei's wifi bridge like functionality in S9 ?
I found its very useful
Tried NetShare app but it doesn't do the job it says
If anyone can port that functionality it will be awesome ??
I am also looking for this feature but couldn't find any.
It should be present.
Look for a setting called "Wi-Fi sharing" in settings > connections > Mobile Hotspot and Terhering > Mobile Hotspot
