Hi guys (obviously) I’m really new here and can only post certain areas, I recently had a falling out with amazon (we broke up for good this time, she was very unfaithful) and I have an ABUNDANCE of Alexa devices. I’m not going to get anywhere near the money I invested into the, by selling the, and I also use the, all the time (without prime they have significantly been not as helpful). Is there a way to root an android OS or Cortana even to run on them instead?

Hey guys, I was wondering what the consensus would be for me, and what suggestions people have. Here's my situation:
I pre-ordered my TFP from GameStop, and the SKU is from the first "batch"/revision/whatever it's called. Overall, I'm quite happy with my transformer, and have been able to forgive some shortcomings because I love the screen, form factor, and weight. Asus was basically the only Android tablet manufacturer that everyone seemed happy with back when Tegra 2 was the only game in town for Honeycomb tablets, because they delivered a solid product at a reasonable price, and because their updates/customer support were the best/among the best. So I decided to go with the TFP, and again, I was overall really happy with it, even with subpar wifi signal and a nearly useless GPS signal (which I know is not really all that important to most people, but I was planning on using it fairly often).
However, the awesome screen - which was something that I really liked about the tablet and allowed me to overlook some of the deficiencies - is starting to develop an increasingly bad light bleeding issue on the right edge of screen in landscape. I'm at the point now where I'm wondering what my options are, but I have long passed the 30 day return period.
Should I:
a) Contact gamestop despite the return period expiration? I'm pretty sure they will do nothing, but if anyone has heard otherwise, or if they have a reasonable replacement program, that would be something to consider.
b) Contact ASUS and try to get them to fix it or swap it for the new SKU?
c)Try to fix the problems myself, following guides here on XDA, despite having no experience working with electronics hardware?
d) sell it on eBay/craigslist/whatever and buy a new TFP, taking a huge financial loss? (probably not possible)
e) sell it and buy something else (I'm sold on the TFP, so I would only want to do this if people think ASUS will NOT fully "back" this product, and focus their attention on the newer models on the horizon)
f) something else
Thanks any opinions/suggestions appreciated
Put it in the oven @ 425 degrees and serve hot. Serves 1-5 people.
Sent from my tablet thing with XDA Premium.

You are past your return window so that's that.
If you want to keep it, then contact asus and RMA it.
If you don't want to keep it then sell it and get something else.
Hi Guys
apologies if this has already been answered i did search and found a few pots but they didn't give me all the information i was hoping for or match my criteria exactly.
Ok so i have a 3 year old son,
his hand to eye coordination is coming along and ever since he's been able to unlock his mothers ipad we cant get him off it.
i have no problem with him using the technology at such a young age in moderation and im sure it can be quite educational with the right apps etc.
however using his mothers ipad is not ideal, its totally open he could accidentally press anything from in app purchases or anything that is available on the internet which is a scary thing.
we came to the conclusion that he needs his own tablet, that we can load with selected app's and he can play etc.
i looked at the tablets designed specifically for kids like the vtech's leapfrogs etc but im not exactly sure they will be the best way forward because they wont really grow with him yes they are probably great for a certain age range but as he gets older it will loose its usefulness.
i need something that's going to be pretty much a disposable price (£30/£60) lets be frank this is probably going to be destroyed on several occasions.
so i want want an android tablet the bigger size the better. I need it to be able to root the device as i want to take advantage fully of titanium back and restore direct to a replacement device if needed.
needs to be able to run sort of childrens apps available i know the can be a broad spectrum but lets just say the average ones (processor / memory consumption wise)
i have seen lots of different softwares to lock the os down, so only use certain apps etc but any other suggestions would be great. or anyone who has made something similar.
cheers guys

There's a dedicated thread for such questions here,

I'll close this thread.
Good luck!
(running KitKat) I received this for my birthday, and was advised by Linux tech friends to come straight here, greets everyone.
My goal with this tablet is to watch tutorials and grab faster bandwidth for uploads and downloads when in range - nothing too exotic.
I'm hoping to persuade the goods out of anyone familiar with this. If it's TOO bad there's time to return it, but my real concern is just battery life and if a ROM can help it to OTG while charging at the same time, or alternate means to power it if I go camping or am away from power.
All I've done in the meantime is disabled apps I know I don't want, and rooted it for a while (Kingo Root) just for AppFreeze but ditched both.
Any and all info and comments, even bad ones, are really appreciated! I have decades on Windows Mac and bits and pieces of Linux. No Android but I can find my way around.
Was this worth buying?

I definitely think it was worth buying. It's fast and has a nice screen for not being HD. I was in a bad accident a month ago and my mom bought it for me to waste time in the hospital and skilled care facility. I haven't found any roms for it yet, I just opened a thread about that.
Sorry I don't have any more info for you, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for sure.
First of all I hope you recovered well - I hadn't logged in here for ages. Super nice of your mom to get you one in your time of suffering and recovery.
Lately I've hoped this could upgrade to at least Android 5 because of an app that would allow me to use the tablet as a remote control for the audio workstation Presonus Studio One.
I emailed the G5 people (they seem gone now) who told me they didn't have a ROM to upgrade the tablet.
Any upgrade is better than where I stand with Android 4.4. Nothing that matters runs on it and the tablet sees wasted with no use.
So ive been putting it off for a while, but its time to retire the device im using. Trouble is, I'm used to being rooted. And theres so much out there, I figured I'd ask here first instead of getting swamped trying to dig through the options.
So, my budget is around $250-300, flexible depending on the device and what not. Prepaid cuz **** contracts and all that. And so you know what I'm coming from, Im currently on a Galaxy J3 with Virgin. So whatever it is should be a noticeable, preferably significant upgrade from that.
Things ive never had in a phone but would definitely pay a little more for:
Fingerprint sensor
NFC capabilities (android pay, etc)
Anything that has been standard on fancier, more expensive phones but not on devices under ~$150 (my max I'd spend in the past).
Carrier doesnt matter too much, as long as its prepaid/no contract.
Help me people, I await your advice.
Also, apologies if this isnt where this should be posted.

Try Micromax Canvas Infinity
Ill go the whole ordering a phone overseas as a last resort. Id prefer it to not be too "off brand" if possible. If not then we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
Recently had this phone given to me by a friend. Unfortunately, it was her kid's, and her kid cannot remember the pin, or what, if any protection she had on it, i.e. Samsung or Google, though, if any, I would suspect Google would be the one. Unfortunately, the friend is also locked out of her Amazon account right now (even Amazon's massive money still doesn't eliminate mistakes in their system), so getting details direct from Samsung that could help me out, if I had access to the receipt (I'm assuming, here, but reasonably, I think) is, for now, out, which very much sucks, because I'm presently using a dated LG, cannot afford anything at all (hence the donation of the phone), and Samsung is what I know, and am familliar with, and, in my opinion, with cause, as, from my (admittedly limited) experience, they are the most feature rich, and most customizable. What I am wondering is if there is a way to get around this issue with the limited access I have. I know there must be more than one way - it's been awhile (like s5 Neo awhile), but I've installed ROMS and "broken into" phones, before (no, not stolen!) - but I've used the internet in a far more limited way, for the last few years, now, and, since my elder days of tireless research and such, Google has changed dramatically, making it hard to find out anything, anymore, without sifting an ocean of clutter, and I don't know my way around, like I used to; internet and phone technology have both changed very fast, the past few years, and so, here I am. Any info needed, I will do my best to find out. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
