Does anyone know what differences there might be between the Unlocked version and the T-Mobile variant? I'm wondering if there are any features missing from the Unlocked version while on the T-Mobile network (like how on the VZW version Wifi calling is apparently not usable on the Unlocked version).
Any info would be great, thanks.
The unlocked one has the mobile data toogle while Tmobile dont have it. Wifi calling running fine on the unlocked ones with Tmobile services. Hope that could help you.
AS I understand there aren't many differences between them.
I need root. Therefore, because, AFAIK, none of the US variants have unlockable bootloader, I'm planning to buy SM-G965F from clove.co.uk.
Does this variant have the best compatibility with T-Mobile USA? If not, which one does?
Has anyone already tested speeds while on TMO network?
Also, has root been confirmed? I've seen TWRP availability and a bunch of kernel mods, so that kinda suggests that root is not going to be a problem, but just wanted to confirm.
Bump
I have the Korean variant G965N and a thread with my speed experiences and connection experience so far.
Here is the link to the thread that clockedtouch is mentioning.
Hello, I just bought an S9 + (G965U) from the US Verizon company when I'm from Mexico and when using it as a US phone, despite being configured as Mexico, I see several applications as if I were in the US and I did not allows you to use it 100% so I wanted to know if there is a way to appear as Mexico even though the equipment was not purchased here?
Additional try to change the Rom for a different one from the same model (G965U) because the Verizon is too personalized by them but I was not allowed so I would like to know how to change the CSC correctly, followed the Note 8 instructions but the phone I showed error and I did not change the CSC so I ask for your help
I have a Samsung S9+ I currently use that I bought and Canada and now recently moved to the states. I have been trying to see if I could either flash the firmware or just change providers to the United States one. The model number is SM-G965W for the s9+ and the s9 is SM-G960W they both are unlocked in Canada but they don't work in the states. I was wondering if there is a guide or if some one could help me. Thanks so much!
I am thinking of getting an S21 from AT&T because of the deal they have right now, but I don't like AT&T bloatware. I'm a noob when it comes to phone firmware and such, so I'm not sure what is or isn't possible.
My understanding is as follows:
Carrier unlock is possible via AT&T website to use other carrier SIM cards.
Bootloader unlock is not possible on AT&T devices (starting at V2 seemingly?).
I'm just not clear if you need an unlocked bootloader to flash the stock S21 ROM on an AT&T device. If not needed, what is the point of unlocking the bootloader, just for root?
Any clarity is appreciated.
You can use "patched ODIN" to do flash "U1" firmware, which removes bloatware.
Not sure about the bootloader, I think you're correct on that.
I flashed an Xfinity Mobile S21 (carrier unlocked by them) to U1 but so far the phone is refusing to use the proper carrier settings for VoWIFI (I have a VZW sim in it now). It worked for 1-2 weeks previously. Everything else seems to work properly including VoLTE.
I'll probably switch back to Xfnity Mobile to get VoWIFI working again.
Thanks for the response.
can I ask something related? I got my Samsung S21 from Amazon unlocked and I'm in International market. the phone has esim capability but it's locked up. my question is (can) I flash international firmware or let's say the one being sold in the middle east? I'm stuck with single sim which is pretty annoying. what do you guys recommend

My understanding is that the international firmware is not compatible with the US phones because the US version uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, whereas the international phones use the Exynos chip. I think you're stick with single SIM, unfortunately.

the snapdragon version is only sold in the US solely?
"International and Korea models of the S21 utilize the Exynos system-on-chip, while the U.S., Canadian, Chinese, Taiwanese, Hong Kong and Japanese models utilize the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888."
