I have 3 H901 's
#1 -is DEAD.It had a good IMEI ,i have the sticker.I don't know if was unlocked or not
#2 is unlocked and rooted is running android 5.1 (is asking me to uptadate to masrshmallow everyday but i don't want to)I have TWRP backup.
#3 is rooted but network locked, and runs android nougat.(yes, a rooted nougat with TWRP and magisk 16 big thanks to (runningnak3d)I also have a TWRP back up
I want to network unlock V10 # 3 but T-Mobile won't help. I have both , ZX3 LG soft and MiracleBox soft
Can someone tell me how i can unlock V10 #3?
Is your #3 eligible for unlock? You can check on their website your phone's IMEI status here: https://www.t-mobile.com/verifyIMEI.aspx
T-Mobile might not help you because your phone might not be eligible for unlock.
same boat as you i replaced my h901 unlocked with a salvage motherboard after the original bootlooped . only after did i realize it had bad imei with tmo and they wont help obviously.i tried a lot of things to unlock it none of which worked.after rooting the server doesn't even respond. But i think since you have a unlocked h901 already, you might be able to copy a dump of it onto the other locked one assuming you update it to nougat as well and it remains unlocked. I'm just assuming here, someone can correct me if im wrong.
update to nougat on unlocked.
using the patched lgup make a full dump of unlocked one
flash that onto locked one?
again, i'm just assuming here.the unlock info might be on a completely off the books partition or different chip.Runningnak3d probably knows whether this would work or not.
Thank You for your help.I think jass65 is getting closer.
The question would be:
How can I dump EFS partition from unlocked phone,
Flash EFS partition from unlocked into locked
Then repair IMEI using the dead phone.
The problem is that EFS partition is protected and hidden and i don't see EFS nowhere
How can I dump EFS parttion from an unlocked H901?

Yes thats what i was thinking.flash unlocked partition and restore the original imei.though i also dont know how to read efs on the v10.
edit. actually the lg 2-3g tool 9.5 has option to read, backup and write qcn, nv, security which is basically efs i believe. tried my self and backed up qcn successfully will try writing.Maybe this would work? if that doesnt work. you can try qfil. Please keep posted on this.
edit 2 qfil also backs up qcn and restores successfully
edit 3 tried a h900 qcn i found online.it successfully restored via qfil and phone rebooted fine. imei also changed to the one of the h900 but still locked!! going through another forum it seems the unlock is somewhere in the security zone , im quoting someone's unlock log i found on gsm hosting.this is for the h900.

There are plenty on xda that know how; however, and unfortunately, spoofing or altering a device's IMEI/MEID to a value other than the value originally assigned to the device by the OEM, is highly illegal in the United States and most countries worldwide. But, in theory, and for educational purposes only, nv data can be rewritten (to match that of a network unlocked device) on the LG h901 via Qualcomm's QXDM/QPST, by forcing the device into EDL mode. There is no /efs partition on the h901. The six primary partitions which encompass the radio firmware are /modem, /fsg, /fsc, /ssd, /modemst1 & /modemst2. The nv data resides in the latter two. If there are any h901 device owners still interested in a universal network unlock method, please leave a comment to that effect. I will research the legal ramifications involved with this procedure, as well as XDA rules/ethics/guidelines. Any method which delves off into modifying/altering the IMEI/MEID of a mobile device can get into a slippery slope in terms of what is considered legal and illegal pursuant to federal and applicable state law. The Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Trade Commidsion has made many revisions to their regulations in this regard following 9/11. Simply writing an IMEI or MEID number to a mobile device is not, in and if itself, illegal. Altering, modifying or otherwise changing a mobile device's unique identifiers is illegal when it is done to "spoof" the identifiers assigned to another mobile device. Moreover, any modifications or alterations to a device's identifiers, when done to falsely represent its true identifiers or to otherwise "mislead or falsely represent" information provided to the mobile network is also unlawful. By unlawful, I do not mean a slap on the wrist or imposition of a meager fine. The Mobile Device Theft Deterrence Act (MDTDA) of 2015 intended to impose stiff penalties to offenders convicted under this law, including up to five years in federal prison and a $1,000,000 fine. Oddly, the bill was introduced by the 114th Congress, but was never passed into law. The FBI, FCC, FTC, CIA, the Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security utilize a revised "catch-all" federal statute to criminally charge suspects with this type of crime, pursuant to U.S. Code §1028 - Fraud and related activity in connection with identification documents, authentication features, and information. Penalties for violations of this statute vary broadly, depending on the applicable subsection or provision used for a conviction. Around 2 years in federal prison and a $10,000 fine are average penalties imposed to offenders in past cases. US prosecutors may also opt to seek a conviction with an enhanced penalty for defendants violating the statute under circumstances involving terrorism, thus increasing the sentencing cap to a maximum of 30 years in federal prison. In India, as well, a law was enacted in 2017 which imposes stiff penalties to individuals convicted of "tampering of the Mobile Device Equipment Identification [IMEI]," or for "knowingly using a mobile device whose IMEI number has been changed unlawfully or software that can change or tamper with [the IMEI]." This statutory language has been revised into India's existing Section 65 of the Information Technology Act (ITA) and mandates a penalty of up to 3 years in prison and a fine of up to 200,000 Rupees (about $2,800 US currency). As of January, 2019, altering a mobile device's unique identifiers in a manner that conceals its true identifiers has been deemed illegal in most countries throughout the world.
I apologize for the loquacious dissertation on the legalities of altering mobile device identifiers. However, I believe it important that members be fully informed on this subject. In these type scenarios, it is always wiser to err on the side of caution. Also, as a disclaimer, this information should not be substituted for sound legal advice from a competent attorney at law. I am a paralegal in the states of TN, OH and KY. But to be clear, I am not a practicing member of the bar association, nor do I possess a Juris Doctorate. Again, if any members would be interested in a tutorial for network unlocking the h901, I will fully research loopholes, case precedent and legal principles that define the full gambit of legality on this subject. I can also touch base with XDA Admin and Mods to gain insight on the administrative level
You have no idea what you're talking about, No its not illegal. The FCC made it legal for anyone to alter any device if it is not conforming to the co sumers stabdards about 2 years ago! Stop soreadibg false information!

Hi all.
Just asking for your expertise on this which I totally don't understand.
My friends bought 2 X01ht unlocked versions recently. They have been unlocked and loaded with olipro bootloader which chinese rom and radio on it. But when we check the imei thru settings-> device information, they have the same imei. I think imei is something written on the rom and can't be changed, even if we patch new radio rom, right?
Unless something uses other tools to change the imei manually, right?
there are tools that can rewrite the IMEI on a phone ROM flashing or radio flashing will not do it. I believe those tools are hard to get ahold of though but changing the IMEI is possable and i have sen it done before.
check if the devices have been opened (no warranty sticker), probably the person who has unlocked them has copied the flash from one qualcomm to another, this requires taking out the qualcomm chip to flash it and then solder it back to the device.

The shop told me that the flashing changed the IEMI no. other than opening the case.
Flashing using the normal RUU won't change your IMEI number, it can change the last 2 digits (Software Verison) of the IMEISV (17 digit instead of 15).
maybe hardware problem bc check the imei thru settings-> device information >15 digits
Hello, I have a LG G5 RS988. I've been fiddling with custom ROMs a bit trying to get the signal to be stable on AT&T. I had finally given up and was going to just try it stock rooted. I don't remember what order i took these actions, but the end result is that i cannot boot into fastboot mode or recovery mode (TWRP was installed but is now gone).
I believe my first attempt was to wipe -> flash [LG-RS98811d-Flashable.COMPLETE-ARB01]
I think this is where i encountered the bootloops and quit messing with it for a day or so. When i came back to it, i've tried literally everything i can find to do to get it back to stock.
I have used LGUP with the uppercut 1.0.0.0 file to 'upgrade' it back to RS98811c_00_ARB01.kdz or any other .kdz i could find. While i had it in fastboot i had attempted to flash some things, but it eventually wouldn't boot so i set it into download mode. Now i can boot into android 6.XX but i have no access to the fastboot screen. It just shows the battery charging percentage...
Please help.
I've already mentioned this in another thread, but you will have to send this in for repair. Flashing lower KDZ versions even with the same ARB version can hard brick your device. It can be repaired through the 'firehose' method that needs non-free proprietary firehose file, partition xml, and stock mbm/bin images. Or through the JTAG box method which is what I do. This model RS988 is the hardest to repair because it is uncommon unlike the other variants. You won't be able to fix it another way otherwise. Also AT&T blocks LTE access to non AT&T devices especially generic unlocked versions from Huawei, OnePlus, Google, and Xiaomi. Even if you do connect, you'll fall back to 3G/HSPA/HSDPA/HSPA+ when calling or temporary LTE loss, but can reset the radio by toggling airplane mode. If you check your IMEI through them it will show up as generic and you won't get LTE access through their whitelist. You could try to call them and explain this issue, and do insist, you should end up with a higherup tech support person that can add your phone to their list. I haven't tried this since I'm on TracFone an MVNO, so I doubt this will work, but it has for others. This LTE issue also happens for Verizon users, as they only like white-listed phones to use their network.

You could expect to pay around $50-70, but do read my dm. Don't purchase remote PC repair methods. They could install malware on your computer, and the USB client redirector may not work for a hard bricked phone.

What don't you understand?
1) You admit you used Chip Erase which wipes out your IMEI. I warn people not to ever use that.
2) You admit you used someone else's IMEI 128GB V30+ you found on the Internet, even though you have a 64GB V30. You are using fake IMEI, someone else's IMEI.
What is your question?

Phone can still work, but many carriers will not accept it if you try to change carriers. Also hard to sell. At least in U.S.
Hi, i have bought G977N and later came to know that its IMEI is tampered to get registered on the local networks. it was working before i upgraded it to G977NKOU4CTG1, the original firmware was G977NKSU2BSL7. After upgrading it did not register any of the networks. Got it checked from software expert he told me the network patching done with tempered imei was damaged and now there is no way to do it again on new version G977NKOU4CTG1. I tried to flash G977NKSU2BSL and also the factory firmware of android pie but ODIN get stuck at BOOT.img and download screen shows non-supported version. Can any one help to restore my original IMEI and will it work.
The IMEI ( read: International Mobile Equipment Identity ) is a unique numerical identifier ( 14-17 digits ) for every mobile device what helps to differentiate each device from one another. If you take your phone in for repair, they will track it using the IMEI to distinguish it from the other millions of phones, for example.
IMEI basically has nothing to do with phone's local network settings at all. But it may be used to unlock a phone on certain networks.
The IMEI is stored on phone's /EFS partition and/or /EFS folder. If you didn't backup that before flashing you have lost, IMO, unless you still have the box in which the phone was delivered, because there is usually the IMEI printed, too.
I don't have the box of the phone. The seller has tempered the imei to get it registered on the local network. I didn't backup before flashing. Now what to do. How to downgrade to previous firmware. I tried to flash the previous firmware but it stuck in boot.img.
They told me solution is available for U3 binary but no solution is available for U4 binary.
Awaiting for help on this issue.
You should have returned the device. Since the imei has been tampered with you will not get much help here. Imei changing and tampering is illegal in most countries. And it's not discussed on xda

I'm guessing you also bought a tampered IMEI device. Take it to any local market where there are plenty of phone 'software repair' guys. Ask them if they have Chimera or z3x tool. They'll fix your problem for ~800 PKR.
Remember, if you buy such devices, don't flash anything on them. Every time you do, you'll need to go back to the same software guy and pay him to fix your signal issue.
=========================
For other people reading this comment - Yes I understand IMEI tampering is illegal in most countries. The reason people in Pakistan buy these phones is because the government has levied unreasonable duties on all imported devices, without any consideration for the age/condition. For example, a used/refurbished S10 that costs you 250 USD in the US, will have custom charges of about 250 USD applied to it if you want it to work in Pakistan. So basically you pay double.
I have this same issue somtimes the signal comes and somtimes it doesnt.

Thank you so much for offering your help.
Actually, it is not a difficult process to extract that file.
First thing needed is to install QPST and enable the phone serial port.
After that, you need to open a program called EFS Explorer and then extract the files.
You can find a video that explains the process here

After installing the Qualcomm drivers, you will see LG Diagnostic Port, and LG Serial Port in device manager. Manually update/replace the serial port driver with Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9025. Then in the phone hidden menu you have to turn off the diag port under SVC, Port Check Test as shown in the video above. Then it should show up in QPST and EFS explorer

I have all the carrier_policy.xml files, TM VM EA. But I have some questions first. In which country and what is the name of the Carrier? The only reason I'm asking is: As far as I know, nobody in the US has crossflashed (most have been crossflashing the lmv600am) and really been able to get a 5G signal. Yes, I know it may have the 5G moniker on the taskbar but using Netmonster tells a different story, as do other tools. It's 4g masquerading as 5g. For example, on the v50/v60 on tmob network, using b66 shows it's 5g when it really isn't. When you crossflash with a KDZ the efs partition is not overwritten nor should it be because it contains imei info. Any file (carrier_policy.xml as an example) in the efs to be change has to be DL from the efs partition using Qspt, edit, and then reloaded. Show are you really getting a 5g band on your phone??????

I've been trying forever to get this to work with my ATT with stock FW and when crossflashed to EA, and you're right, I think it just doesn't, regardless of fw version installed. I've pulled the EA EFS policy files as well as the ATT ones, modified them, reuploaded and 5G just will not turn on. I've persisted so long because this method worked fine on my V50, however that one is a V500N (korean variant) whereas this is a V600AM (US/ATT variant), so I think that may have something to do with it. Have tried adding MCC-MNC, editing the rf_band lists, all sorts of combinations. I have a feeling that when the sim is inserted the phone doesn't even look at the modified xml files in the EFS partition and just generates it's own with the american models, but this is just speculation.
The other thing I noticed is that when I edit my ftm file to regain my serial number and remove the NT code error, the outer screen on the dual screen attachment works again, but then I lose 4G altogether and revert to 3G without data.
On my V50 all I had to do was add '5G' to some band lists and it worked, however, that unit is not crossflashed and still has stock korean firmware.
I'm in UK on Hutchison 3 network

On my V50 all I had to do was add '5G' to some band lists and it worked, however, that unit is not crossflashed and still has stock korean firmware.
I'm in UK on Hutchison 3 network

Well I can tell you that there's a running discussion on a lot of the points you just made not the least of which is whether or not the modem is being provisioned at activation and if so what exactly and how much.
I have 2 lmv600am which I got off Ebay. Both had been crossed to EA fw when I got them. Since I'm on Google Fi, I went to the AT&T unlocking site and Sim unlocked. I then put my G-Fi sim into 1 of my v60 and sure enough I get a 5G moniker on my taskbar. Now during this time period Tmob is changing their policies on LG phones, mainly since LG is no longer in business. For example, lmv450 no longer actives on Tmob nor any of it's mvno's and I believe the same is happening for all Sprint phones plus all LG non-tmob phones. They're checking by imei.
So it didn't take long and bam, I wasn't even getting a 5g moniker. I call G-Fi and asked, WTF. I was told that G-Fi is now only allowing Google and Samsung phones to activate with 5G services, only 4g for V600am. Once again imei strikes. BTW you can page thru modem protocols here; *#546368#*600#>field test>modem settings>engineering mode to see if you even have the 5g protocol loaded. I use to but now I only have 2g, 3g, hspa and lte.
The only reason I'm bringing all this up is because Carrier Policies are changing with LG phones so It's worth a tech support call/chat with your carrier to see what's what on their side.
The next step would be to use a serious network app to verify what really going on. I think in your area the G-Mon app is being used a lot. I use Netmonster in the US. I saw a screen shot from a guy in Poland, I believe, that thought he was getting 5g only to find out that it was really lte+ 3xCA. He was getting 727.3 Mbps on the DL which is absolutely screaming. That’s faster than 99.9 % of the phones in the US.

Forgot to mention that I noticed that after a fresh flash, the xml files present in the EFS are different before and after inserting my sim.
Interesting but also disappointing to hear about the IMEI checking :/
I've been through hidden menu settings, and depending on which firmware I have installed I can see different bands and modem protocols available/activated, but can still never turn 5G on with my american V60's.
I had so much hope for this handset since firehose was made available!
Which reminds me, I even bootloader unlocked and rooted my crossflashed at&t unit. Successfully install Magisk etc, but couldn't enable r/w on system partition, even after generating and flashing a modified super partition. Something else going on here.
YOU need to check out the v60 group over on Discord.
