Xbrowser problem adding Bookmarks with Amazfit Pace - Amazfit

Please note: Adding Bookmarks is much easier if using the later ver's of Xbrowser which have the User resync facility in the User profile section. I was initially using an old 2.4.7 version which had no resync.
Hi,
Recently I got the Amazfit Pace English ROM version , I think this smartwatch is one of the best out there and has the ideal screen for outdoors. After a few days I ventured further and used the below easy method to install some apps
https://www.smartwatchspecifications.com/install-android-apk-apps-amazfit-pace/
I downloaded the Xbrowser app and used the below Pace Tuner app to switch on the wifi;
https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/amazfit/tool-amazfit-pace-tuner-windows-apk-t3774967
The problem I have is that because the Amazfit screen is so small I have no way of saving any new Bookmarks. When I use Xbrowser on my phone the screen is large enough to display the OK buttoon to save the bookmark.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1utVduvfw_hC13IVzdMMfLLK47hUfMUiw
But when I use the Amazfi, the OK button is below the screen and I cant find anyway to navigate to the bottom of the screen.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=10YJ-KWIWH_M7hj2gn2d_CUZBe1Lc65Ki
Within Xbrowser Settings I enabled the "Support touch screen page down or up", but this has had no affect.
Another way I thought would be to use my phone to create any new bookmarks and then update the watch using export and import from within the Xbrowser app. But although the export works fine when I try import the Amazfit is unable to find a file explorer app and then Xbrowser crashes.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NO-hewWQeiSytOwL-fGGKCGY6dzPTqmz
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1AqTRJi2bIRWl37y-cmP88yLpYlJJQsuy
Have also installed a file browser app and get same problem where Xbrowser crashes.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Tw8bAsRsVIjgSxZOUk0tMIz5_cTYQ8aB
One clue is that when I try the import on the phone I get the "complete action using" message.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1OsH0FBTfe9BFtarohZaNQ9aWGD2UdaR6
I think the problem is that the amazfit has no default file browser and has no option to offer the "complete action using" link and so fails.
Any help or further suggestions appreciated.

Exactly, the Android 5.1 version used in Pace is mostly crippled so it doesn't have a document manager (to pick files) nor a download manager. Your better chance is using synchronisation using an account inside XBrowser. Besides that, if the only problem is the small screen, I do this to temporary change screen resolution to be able to fix things on watch using adb and watch connected to USB on computer:
Code:
adb shell wm size 640x600
adb shell wm density 120
Go back using:
Code:
adb shell wm size reset
adb shell wm density reset
It doesn't require root. Launcher will crash, but don't worry. After you go back to normal, restart watch or some things may get a bit wonky.

Many thanks, yea I thought about trying the user sync from inside Xbrowser but the trimmed down Watch app has no User profile settings so another dead end. But I'll try your idea of using adb to change the screen size and maybe that will get me going. Cheers,
Update:
All sorted, I found 640x600 a bit small so went with 400x375 & density of 150.
thanks

"Trimmed down" watch app? What XBrowser are you using? I simply installed the same one I see on Play Store, just changed some configs on watch so it will go full screen (no bars) when scrolling pages.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mmbox.xbrowser.pro

Have you tried just making an "internet shortcut" (in windows just drag a link into a folder) putting that shortcut on the watch and using a file browser to "launch" it?
I haven't yet, but I'm gonna go try it now
Edit: Android does not recognise .URL files correctly, oh well

That's even better, I was using an old 2.4.7 version. I've just removed the old and installed the newer 2.5.5 version whch installed fine and it now has the "User profile" section. Ran the Sync and my bookmarks have arrive on the Amazfit. Thanks guys for all your help and hope others may find this useful

Kies Air and different browsers

Has anyone managed to get this to work with Safari? It's a mild annoyance that when I want to use Kies Air I have to use Firefox instead of my go-to browser (Safari). Does anyone know if there is a simple setting/url change that I can use that will enable Safari to work with it? I'm running on OS X if that makes any difference.
Thanks.
I use Safari. Seems fine to me. What problem are you having?
Safari can’t connect to the server.
Safari can’t open the page “http://1**.1**.1.6*:****/” because Safari can’t connect to the server “1**.1**.1.6*”.
(no idea if I need to censor that out, thought it would be safer).
Can you try without putting http://? I never entered that, just the number.

No need to censor those are local ips no risks.
It automatically adds the http:// to it after I press enter.
Weird. Is the number you entered is the same on your phone? Well, if you still unable to open I guess you've to use Firefox. Might have to wait some pro to solve it. haha
Yeah, double checked. It's weird that it works on FF. Maybe there's some setting enabled on Safari that's stopping it from working?
If you click on Safari > About Safari, what version are you using? Also, if you go to preferences > Advanced > Proxies > Change settings, do you have any of the options checked? Those are the only things I can think of that might make a difference.
Mine is 5.05.. Only Auto proxy check. Hmm...
all same here. I'm fresh out of ideas!
when you enter the url into your browser, and get the "cant connect" error, try restarting the phone. happened ot me as well and fixed it. same happened with my SG1, used an app called wifi explorer which was also to explore phone files wirelessly and had to just restart my phone after using app for the first time too.
Kies Air - Fix
I had this same problem, watched Kies connect once, but never connected again, kept stalling. Tried Mozilla, Chrome and Explorer, all with the same result. Then I noticed lots of Java icons stacked up in the taskbar, and under closer inspection, lots of instances of java started in the task manager.
Turns out the problem is the Java cache on your PC, it doesn't clear after you drop the connection, and prevents further re-connection attempts. Uninstall the Java on your PC and it all works fine. Not sure what you need to do if Java is essential to you.
Turns out the problem is specific to Java 6.24 and if you roll back to 6.23 it will be working again

[Q] Hide root / su from another application?

My company has a policy for our company email application (Good) that doesn't allow the application to run if a phone is rooted. Brilliant, the application is password protected and has remote wipe capabilities, but that still isn't enough for them! Which means I'm stuck carrying two phones around. I would like to either hide superuser/su/root from the phone when I'm not needing the escalated rights, or just block it from seeing it completely. Therefore I need your help. Any thoughts/suggestions work arounds would be much appreciated.
I'm currently running (about to upgrade to a new ROM, but not sure which):
Samsung Galaxy S Captivate
MODEL #: SAMSUNG-SGH-I897
FIRMWARE: 2.2
BASEBAND VERSION: I897UCJI6
KERNEL VER: 2.6.32.9
BUILD #: COGNITION.V2.3B8
One last thought if I can get this accomplished. I might be that I might be looking to get the new Samsung Infuse 4g (AT&T), since I'd finally be consolidating to 1 phone.
bump this thread!
I'm really hoping someone has some kind of answer for me here.
Okay maybe I'm being over simplistic, but why can't you use a different mail app? Or if you can't do that go into outlook rules and redirect your email to another account, use K9 as your mail app change your identity in K9 so it looks like any emails are coming from your work account, and set the reply to email address in K9 to your work address.
That's what I do to access my work email.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Yeah I hate to say this, but if it were that easy I would have done it already. We don't allow auto forwarding of all mail externally. We also don't expose any email externally without 2 factor authentication via OWA. Therefore automating an app (like touchdown) to pull down the mail is practically impossible. The company is being so gracious by "allowing" us to give up our corporate blackberries and use our personal phones with the "Good" application. This gives them the control and sense of security (albeit false) by enabling the password, password changes, and remote wipe capabilities. Therefore they don't allow rooted phones. SUCK!
You know, this would be a good feature to get around the movie rental block on rooted phones as well...
Find out how it's checking for root. Is it searching EVERYWHERE for su? (If it were, i'd hate your developers, because that's just stupid. Waste of phone power.)
I'd imagine they're either asking for permissions (you'd know if they were) or they're searching to find the su binary.
I'd suggest you find a way to move SU from where it is right now, and make sure all apps that need it know where to look for it.
I think it's just looking in the paths, because I am able to rename/move the su binary from within the terminal emulator, and suddenly the root-checking apps work again. However, other apps which require su will break.
I think the solution would be to create an app which does nothing but this:
1) Rename/hide the su binary
2) Launch the requested 3rd-party app (in this case, the enterprise e-mail app)
3) Once the app activities have been destroyed, restore the su binary
That might work, as long as the 3rd-party app doesn't require root.. ^_^

I wonder if it would be possible to create an app to do this automatically whenever a certain app is loaded (e.g. when the email app is launched, a background process automatically renames su, and then when it's closed, the background process kicks in again to rename it back to su).
Actually, now that I think about it, Tasker might be able to do that...I'll look into it...
EDIT: Yup, managed it with Tasker. Install Tasker if you haven't already (there's a week trial available here: http://tasker.dinglisch.net/), and load up the app.
In the "Profiles" tab, hit the + button at the bottom to add a new profile and give it a descriptive title (e.g. "hide root"). It'll then ask you to select a context, select "Application", and then choose the app you want to hide root from and click the tick. It'll then ask you to choose a "Task". Select "New task". Give it a name (e.g. "hide root") then click the "+" in the window that appears. Choose "Misc", and then "Run shell". The first command to run is something like this:
Code:
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
This will remount /system as RW (i.e. allow you to write files on the system partition). The command may vary slightly for your phone, the parts that are likely to change are "mtdblock3" and possibly "yaffs2". The correct parameters can be found by running the command "mount" in either terminal emulator on the phone or over an adb shell, and look for the /system entry. You should probably make sure you get the right command here, it's probably a bad idea to mess with remounting without the right command.
Enter that command and tick the "use root" box, then press the tick at the bottom.
Do the same again, only this time the command is:
Code:
mv /system/bin/su /system/bin/mu
(again, tick "use root").
Now click the tick at the bottom of the "Task Edit" window. You should now be back at the profiles list, with the name of the app you want to hide root from on the left and the task you just made on the right with a green arrow. Press and hold down on the task and you'll be given the option to "Add Exit Task". Select this. Choose "New Task" and call it something like "show root". As before, add an action to the task, go to "Misc" and then "Run shell". This time, the command is:
Code:
mu -c 'mv /system/bin/mu /system/bin/su'
Don't tick "use root" this time. Click all the ticks to get back to the profile list. You should now see your profile with the app name on the left and two tasks on the right, one with a green triangle, one with a red. Make sure the box at the top right of the profile is showing a green tick (if it's a red circle with a line through it, tap it once), then tap the green tick at the bottom left of tasker. the su binary will now be automatically renamed when you launch that app, and renamed back when you leave it. (you can add more than one app, and you can add more apps later). I tested this with terminal emulator, typing "su" gave "command not found". I then left terminal emulator and loaded Titanium Backup, which worked perfectly, indicating su had been restored correctly. (I think if you use a task switcher and leave the app running in the background, you may have issues). The first time you exit the app, you will get a superuser (or SuperSU, if you use that) prompt for permission. After that you won't.
If you need to disable the root hiding, just tap the green tick beside the profile name in tasker, it'll turn into a red circle with a line through it and it will no longer be active.
Hi,
There is an app called hide my root. The problem is you would have to ensure you run it when needed. And it does work. At least I was not able to launch apps needing root.
Hope that assists a bit.

OP can't use TouchDown because it doesn't support 2-step OWA authentication.
Seems like the proper solution here is to hide the su/superuser.apk/etc files from specific apps, not rename them/etc (which breaks root access for everything on the device, even if only temporarily).
I don't think that this is straightforward to accomplish via namespaces, unless you want to go cloning the whole bin/data directories (if you did that then you could bind-mount them in a namespace only visible to particular apps. Most of the namespace functionality applies at the directory level only.
Another approach would be to just put some code in the kernel that checks uids against some kind of blacklist and just hides the file, just as any rootkit would.

Got an oppo find x in US

Finally got my oppo find x purchased from China, let me know if you guys have question about using in US.
What service provider are you using it on? Any issue? Does Android auto work fine? Do you know if you can use the face recognition to access apps since there is no fingerprint sensor?
I also had one imported from China. I'm on att. I don't know any app that supports the face id right now. None of the bank apps support it, Google play doesn't, lastpass doesn't. So you'll have to type in the password every time.

How is the service on at&t? Just curious are running china rom or global one?
I'm on Tmobile, face unlocked does not work with any apps. Mine is Chinese rom, Google play store installed by my own, no apps crash found now. And I tested Verizon yesterday, it's not working, no signal at all unless turn on the lte only mode, seems Verizon has not approve the device on their network yet.

Hi, how did you disable the stock launcher and get Nova running? Don't you need an Oppo ID for that? Without a Chinese number this doesn't seem to work. Under default apps - home screen apps nothing is shown for me .

1. Install Nova launcher or whatever launcher you like on your phone. Go to phone settings, disable gesture control and use navigation buttons instead.
2. Enable USB debugging on your phone. Download and unzip ADB. Instructions can be found here.
3. Go to the root directory of ADB on your computer. Open Command Prompt, or Terminal on OSX or Linux.
4. Connect your phone to computer using USB.
5. Type the following in the command prompt
Code:
adb shell pm disable-user com.oppo.launcher
. Remember only do this after you have other 3rd party launchers installed.
6. The default gesture control will not work properly anymore. You can use navigation buttons. Or if you want to use gesture, go to phone settings, choose the one where swiping from bottom left is back and swiping from bottom right is recent apps.

Hi there,
Could you please extract your theme store and oppo app store apk and share it with me, please...
Thx in advance

I found another way to boost TicWatch performance (this time around 2.5 times)

Do not worry, this is not the old TicSystem trick - this is better
/!\ Only for TicWatch Users /!\
Hello,
While attempting to change my Wear OS accent color via ADB, I discovered a way to speed up the watch around 2.5 times (measurements done lazily, could be wrong. Still makes it faster, though.) - It does not cripple the watch at all (I have not tested battery life)
While everyone knows the one with disabling TicSystem (for you curious souls, it does not cripple the watch at all), I believe I may be the first one to do this. It revolves around Mobvoi's Wear OS overlay. Doing this trick made my watch really fast. The watch is around 2.5 times more responsive now and no matter what I do, I can not get the watch performance to slow, as it normally would.
It runs even better if you disable TicSystem too (Bottom power menu - you can literally use the top power menu instead, if you remove TicSystem)
Here is a step by step instructional tutorial:
1.) Enable Developer Options
---
2.) Disable All Animations (you can enable those again later)
---
3.) Enable ADB Debugging
---
4.) Hook your Watch up to your computer with ADB and all that stuff (I really do not want to go in depth on how to hook up your watch to your PC, You can google that)
---
5.) Type "adb devices" to connect your watch and start daemon
---
6.) Type "adb shell cmd overlay list"
---
7.) If there is a com.mobvoi.ticwatch.jupiter.home (or something containing the same words in a different order) continue with this guide. If there is not, leave this guide
---
8.) Type "adb shell cmd overlay disable com.mobvoi.ticwatch.jupiter.home"
(or however else your overlay is called)
---
9.) Type "adb reboot"
to reboot the watch
---
OPTIONAL 10. Enable animations again)
---
That is it, the watch now runs very much faster without any usability difference. To be honest, I am still not exactly sure why it works, but it works.
I have been doing a lot of testing and I just can not find anything that went wrong when I disabled it. There simply seems to be nothing. Everything works.
If some issue does come up, please let me know. Also, if there is an issue, you can just reproduce all the steps here, but replace the command in step #8 with "adb shell cmd overlay enable com.mobvoi.ticwatch.jupiter.home"
(Also, if any other fellow android developers are reading this, please help me understand why in the world uninstalling the package itself slows the watch down again. I have been scratching my head at this for a while now. Maybe it is placebo?)
(Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage to your watch. Even if this is unlikely to cause any damage, you are responsible for anything that might happen)
I don't have those mobvoi overlay, only google's
Code:
com.google.android.gms
[x] com.google.android.wearable.overlay.gms
com.google.android.wearable.app
[x] com.google.android.wearable.overlay.home
I don't feel lag actually since the first I use ticwatch E, of course after disable most system app. The latest change only to disable ticsystem which render the battery life longer, approx 20%.
You most likely just disabled the Jupiter home app. This guide is directed at people, who do not want to get rid of the whole Mobvoi experience, but still want a faster watch
I only disabled these
com.mobvoi.companion.aw
com.mobvoi.wear.account.aw
com.mobvoi.wear.fitness.aw
com.mobvoi.wear.health.aw
com.mobvoi.wear.heartrate.aw
com.mobvoi.wear.social.aw
com.mobvoi.wear.system.aw
It seems the jupiter home app only available in ticwatch pro, not in my ticwatch e.
Thanks for the sharing.

First enable developer options. Then you should see.
Developer options are enabled in settings/system/information/build version. You have to tap on build version 5 times or more.
I know and I did it. But there is no option for this.....
There only is a switch for ADB-Debugging and another for Debugging over bluetooth.
Thats weird. Never the less, why don't you try to do it via bluetooth?
How to do this?

Galaxy Tab S7 randomly takes pictures

My Tab 7 will randomly take multiple pictures without any input from me - I have deleted as many as 900 pictures of the inside of the case and been woken at night by the shutter sound going off continuously.
I have tried removing permissions for Camera to disable it but now get multiple notifications that I need to allow permissions in order for Camera to take pictures (46 notifications when I opened the tablet just now).
Can anyone tell me how to prevent either of these behaviours?
I am seriously considering switching to an iPad.

Maybe uninstall and reinstall with ADB?
Pardon my ignorance - ADB?
Android Debug Bridge. Download platform tools. Enable dev options (Google how to). Enable ADB debugging. Connect to PC. Run platform tools in power shel. Do ” adb devices “ to verify your device is connected. Then do “ pm uninstall -k --user 0 package name” replace package name with that apps package name, which you can find using the package name viewer app. Then reinstall with “ pm install-existing package-name “. If you did not get how to start ADB you can Google a better guide, but those commands are how to uninstall and reinstall.
