Oem unlock issue. Day 8. - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Have had phone since last Wednesday (4-11-18) have never taken SIM card out. Phone died once on 4-12-18. I have restarted it a few times but I read that doesn't affect the option showing up. It's now been over a week and still no oem unlock. Any ideas?? Am I doing something wrong?

Wait a few more hours. It shows up exactly 168 hours after first use.

It's been past that. I read somewhere that some exynos models come with it already enabled but you just can't see it. So I went into download mode earlier. Will that affect my time? (Mines not unlocked.)

Booting to download mode shouldn't affect the timer. But doing a factory reset will, I think. Did you by any chance do a factory reset after first use?

Not once. I first turned the phone on and activated it on 4-11-18 at about 8:30pm. Died the next day around 5:30pm and I started charging it at 6pm. Hasn't ever dropped to 0% since.

Update deleted switch off!?

After update I cannot turn off the phone anymore!!
When I long press the "on" button...nothing happens...and when I release it it switches off the screen.
I don't get anymore the off-airplane mode-restart menu.

Odd indeed. Did you do a backup from Recovery first?
OTA's do that...why trust "the man"?
\Honestly, read what the devs are doing and DO NOT trust the carriers.
I havent..I was not expecting that. Anyway...is just annoying few times. I don't restart many times my phone.

and....it's back! The menu appeared back when around 1.30 pm of the day after the update...I was checking the wireless settings...and I got a pop-up saying: You have succesful completed the update ti 1.3... .6.
At that point the menu was back working.
My only thoughts are...I have taken off the battery after it restarted after the update..I have switched on the phone..used it for half a day...and the update was not complete?!?!
This is one of the strange things I don't get of Android (or HTC)

I will try to reset before rooting etc... Am I the only one who had this problem??

No..I am not.
I will root today or in the following days. I was not rooting since I was checking out the battery life problem.
I just did the update OTA from HTC.
wow that's strange I did the update and i still have those functions
There was a post somewhere else (this forum) about this...
the answer that fixed it for me was to enable "Use Secure Credentials" (Settings->Security)
It may be that you have to turn fast boot on, too (Settings->Power)
Hate to suggest it... but I would probably try reflashing the firmware with an RUU if you don't want or need root access.

Look up xboarder's 5.0.2.0 recovery.
Supposedly the problem was fixed.
Sorry I can't give you the link at the moment but I believe it's in the sticky.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. Even around the same time yesterday. I installed the update the night before and thought it was fine. Noticed the next day my power off option was gone. Got the same popup out of nowhere and all of the sudden it's fine again.
Very odd.

Holy heart attack! :/

So about five minutes ago I was playing a game called Triple Town and all of the sudden my screen freaked out and was super distorted and it wasn't hardly usable. So I turned the screen off and back on and nothing happened. Then I restarted my phone and it fixed it. But it scared me because I just got my phone back from getting repaired. Has this happened to anyone else?

^is always a good idea, you could take a step or 2 further..
1. pull battery and re-seat SIM and MicroSD
2. if rooted you could clear cache and davlik cache
If my phone ever acts up, I just remove the battery for a minute. I restart the phone 2 - 3 times a day to clear up the RAM. Never had an issue.

Really? Do you restart that often out of habit or do you notice a difference? I know old WinMo phones needed to be restarted on a regular basis to clear up memory that wouldn't get released, but I didn't think that was an issue on Android. BTW, this is my 1st Android phone so I am genuinely curious.

It is both. I used to have a Nokia phone and I used to restart it 1 - 2 a day. I used to work at T-Mobile and many issues I get from customers were solved just by pulling the battery out or restarting the phone. The phone is like a computer. It needs to clear up the memory. It makes a noticeable difference.
I try to remember to reboot the phone every few days. I think it helps keep things running smoothly.
If I have a problem I will turn off, pull battery, and pull SIM. So far with this phone I only did that once when it spontaneously rebooted. Hasn't happened since.

Bricked My Phone?

Last night I was able to root my phone flashed the recovery mod and used the overclocked kernel that was listed in the dev forums for my phone. The phone was running fine until I went to bed, this morning I had woke up and went to look at my phone and it was off. Thinking the battery died while I left it unplugged all night I found meh.. might be the reason. Let the phone charge while I was in the shower for about 15 minutes got out and tried to turn the phone on and unable to get a response. Tried to boot the phone to Odin mode with no luck also tried getting my computer to pick up the device with no luck at all. Few questions, is my phone bricked? If so I've only had the phone for 15 days do you think I would have any luck getting the phone replaced at a store? and is there anyway that they would be able to tell that I had rooted my phone flashed recovery and installed a kernel if I cant even get the phone to respond in any way shape or form? Any advice you have or situations where you where in the same boat would be a great help. Thanks again.

Indeed sir, removed the battery let it sit for a minute or two...
According to your post...You are bricked
Samething happend to me..just few days ago but my phone was out of warranty...so I need to pay for ...a board change (I9100) tht was the solution for me not for uh
Now as you said ...if you are fully bricked and you just bought the phone 15 days ago ...then you have still 99.9% chances that they will replace your main board
....
Last year when I bought my phone S2...after some time when I came hyr on xda rooted my phone ...once I bricked ...so I went to samsung care ...and made a story...and bang they taken my phone got my job sheet ...and after 4 days got my phone they changed my main board...
Main topic...they can't check whtr you are rooted...or not if you are bricked fully...so just visit samsung care...and make a fake story...all set just sit back for few days ...

As I had mentioned this morning I woke up and plugged my phone in for a good 15-20 minutes while I took a shower. There after when I looked at my phone it didn't show as if it was even charging most of the time it will at least show a charging logo. I let the phone sit plugged in for about 45 minutes and tried to soft reboot the phone holding volume and power still nothing came of it. Had taken the battery from the phone and put it back in with the same process to no success. I had removed the SIM Card from the phone replaced it back in the device and as soon as I plugged in the phone it showed the phone was charging. From that point I was able to reboot the phone with no issues.
I was worried due to the fact I had flashed the kernel last night and was toying with the settings given in the stweek that came after I flashed the recovery and kernel using the recovery options on reboot. Really don't have an idea as to why I had the issue that I had. But at the end of the day I'm just glad I didn't have to pay for a replacement.

[Q] Task650 (4-14) - No Carrier Signal For Several Minutes After Boot

Been having a problem with Task's latest ROM (4-14) and the previous version (4-1). Both take several minutes to obtain carrier signal (AT&T) after booting. I've tried flashing with full wipe several times, different modems, and adjusting APN settings, but nothing fixed it. My phone usually picks up service after about 5 minutes, but sometimes I've waited 10+ minutes and had to reboot again, because it still hadn't connected. Also, maybe this is just how it's supposed to work, but I've noticed that while my phone has no service, if I go to System Settings->More->Mobile networks->Access Point Names there's nothing there at all. Just a blank window until it finally connects. Is anyone else having this problem or know of any possible solutions? Thanks!

ROM: Task650
Build: 4.14.2013

Have you tries rebooting with airplane mode enabled and then disabling it when fully booted? This has worked for me in the past, although I've never had to wait as long as you've stated you have for a signal.

I tried this method and it didn't work for me , I even did a complete wipe and re-flashed the rom and gapps, I also re-flashed two separate modems amd was never able to connect to the mobile network. when I first flashed the ROM everything worked great, but when my device went to deep sleep it never came back

Mine does exactly the same. Baseband is unknown and there's no IMEI info until it finally connects. I also noticed that under service state it said "radio off" until it connects and then changes to "in service".
That's very odd. It's not just this rom it does this on is it?

Yeah dude, I've been using Task's ROM for a while now and this has only started happening since the 4-1 version. I even flashed back to the 3-13 build just to make sure and this problem doesn't happen with that build. I was hoping the 4-14 build would fix it, but it didn't. I did see on Task's developer thread someone made a post about having this issue, but it looks like they never posted a logcat or anything to help Task resolve it. I would gladly post one if I could, but I'm new to XDA and they won't let me post on a developer thread.

I no longer have any issues with the time zone changing in the newest build (4-14). I don't know if you're on that build, but the workaround for that problem was to set your own time zone manually.

Apparently, what's happening is the radio doesn't turn on during boot (Radio baseband not recognized error or something). I fixed this problem by turning on the wifi temporarily then turning it off. Apparently this will turn on the radio and should stay that way. I hope this works for you.

That worked dude, thanks! It took me a couple tries, I probably didn't give my phone enough time to boot, but I got it. Definitely a lot faster than waiting for it to connect on it's own.
I wonder why this only seems to affect some of our phones, but not the majority? If I didn't know any better, I'd say it almost seems like they have slightly different hardware. I bought mine directly from AT&T the first week it was released. Don't know if they possibly made any hardware revisions since?

I have been having this problem as well.
Yesterday I did another wipe and reinstall. I did a full wipe (and in mounts formatted everything except my external SD which was temporarily removed.) after flashing the rom, I rebooted recovery and did another wipe data/factory reset and wiped dalvik, then I installed gapps. I then formatted the cache and data again and rebooted the phone. It seems to have fixed the issue for me.

Known issue for months now about the time zone. And apparently some others have experienced a longer than normal connection delay too. Weird.

updated to version 4-14 and was enjoying it until today. Lost my phone service, for some reason the IMEI got corrupted...I don't even have the access point names choice in mobile networks...no amount of rebooting fixed it...had to flash the phone with a backup file and so far its doing fine..

I'm getting the same thing happen with mine. Started months ago. Sent it back to xiaomi for repair with a very clear explanation of the issue - they turned it on and found it works and sent it back to me, insisting it's fine.
Got it back and turned it on yesterday - within a few be hours the problem recurred just as it did before and it's continued to do so today
€30 postage and inspection fee plus months of having to rely on my old phone - and my F1 still won't work!
Very frustrating

Check your kernel settings, Fsync might be disabled, enable it for more system stability. It might caused random system shutdowns or reboots.

Don't know if it's for the same reason, but mine appears somewhat screwed and Xiaomi have done nothing to fix it. Gonna have to take it to a local phone repair shop. Loath to do that, since the warranty will be voided - however the warranty seems to be worth nothing, so I don't see I have much choice
