If I have custom ringtones files I know how to make those work on the LG V30 for the ringer and contacts. But when it comes to using these custom files for Notifications and the like, I can't seem to get them to be available to select. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Did you try rebooting after you got them to the phone? I had a hell of a time trying to get an Alarm tone (.ogg) visible in the Clock app. But once I 1) put the file into "emulated/0/Alarms" and 2) rebooted, it finally appeared.
I haven't messed with notification sounds (I use Silent), but maybe you need to have them in a particular directory, and the phone needs to rescan storage for media files in order for your sounds to be available.
any one can help me wana add text tone notifications to my lg v30 can't seen to figure it out

Been running 10.1 for about a week now and am loving it. Unfortunately, my first beef with this ROM just popped up and I'm hoping someone out there can help. When selecting a tone for a new alarm (or just setting a ring tone for that matter), I'm prompted to select from the stock system sounds. I know when I first flashed to this ROM I could select to use a set of sounds as my default and am fairly certain I chose the extended bank of sounds. Why limit yourself, right? At any rate, I went to manage applications and can't reset defaults because the button is greyed out and unselectable. The non-standard set of sounds is still in there as evidence of both my alarms going off with the sound I had been looking for and, in addition, I can still see all this "missing" tones when I open up Astro File Manager and go to /mnt/sdcard/system/media/audio. At this point, there are folders for alarms, notifications, ringtones & ui, ALL of which contain sound files...the ones I'm in search of. How can I reset this? Did a nandroid backup when sounds were still accessible and when I reflashed to the backup I was still missing the option to select these sounds. What gives? Help!!
The default sound is nowhere to be found. I have looked in System/Media and it is not there. The tone I am talking about is when no tone is selected in the selection area. The AT&T tone is selected by default for the ringtones, but nothing is selected for the notification tone. The notification still has a default sound and that's the one I am trying to find. Any help would be great.
I am little confused on what your asking which version of Android and firmware your running. Can you see the ring tone where you go to change it in settings? And if your looking for where in system the file it self is what are you using to go though your files with. Personally I like root explorer but you have to have root I will look to see where tones are.
AT&T ATRIX - VERSION 2.3.4 ROOTED BL UNLOCKED
I am on a rooted Motorola Atrix with Gingerblur ROM installed (2.2.2). The ringtone I am interested in was on the stock Atrix as well. This tone can be found by going to Messaging, Menu->Settings->Notification settings->Select ringtone->Default ringtone. But this ringtone is not where I would expect. My goal is to make this Default ringtone my Phone ringtone instead of my Messaging Notification ringtone. I looked with Astro in /system/media/audio/notifications... actually, I looked in all the folders in audio (alarms, notifications, ringtones, ui) and this tone is not there. Is there somewhere else to look with Astro? Thanks for the help!
Im trying to find where some of the built in alarm sounds are on the phone. In particular the 'Smart Alarm' sound 'light' as id like to use this also as the main alarm, however it is only visible in the menu for smart alarm and not the main alarm, and i cant find it anywhere on the phone so i can copy it somewhere else myself.
Anyone know where to look or how to get the 'smart alarm' sounds? Or someone with a rooted device have access to the file could email it or something?
Thanks
System/media/audio/alarms

Thanks. looks like i need root to access it.
I'm using the stock message app, but my custom ringtones are not in the pick list.
Do they need to go in a specific folder? Is there an alternative to getting custom tones for contact?

You may need to set the permissions to the ringtone for them to be recognized. rw-r--r-. Hope this helps.
Put tones into ringtone, notification, and alarm folders, they will show up after a reboot.
Edit: if they show up, but don't play, fix permissions as stated above.
Sometimes you have to be smarter than your smartphone.
Maybe I can't find the right setting to turn this on, but I've seemed to have lost the ability to have different/customized notification sounds for different people/apps.
When setting up my phone, I wanted to have different notification sounds for email, texts, anything else. When I go into Gmail to change my notification tone, it changes it for the whole phone. When I go into an individual text conversation in Message+ to change their specific notification tone, it still changes it for the whole phone. It seems that any notification can only be used by one ringtone.
I'm willing to bet I have something turned on/off that's preventing me to do what I want to do. I'd rather not have to try and look for some app that the phone should (has has with previous versions) do on it's own.
Appreciate anyone's help. :good:
Trying to figure this out myself. So annoying
Did you find the solution?
