Hello,
I've been using adhell for a week, and noticed that it actually doesn't work at all on Chrome
So I checked online and apparently I needed to disable the async dns in Chrome to make it work. So I tried that, and it seemed to work (except that there are still white boxes instead of ad, which is ugly), but it brings another issue. Now I have dns_probe_finished_nxdomain error when I try to access websites... I already tried everything, changing dns server, resetting cache, etc... It doesn't work.
I didn't find any topic online about that.. So here it is
Does someone have this issue?
Thanks in advance

It is a very simple fix just read below.
First, you need to copy this text and paste it into the address bar of the chrome ‘chrome://flags/’ and press Enter.
Now without going any down or further, you will see ‘Reset all to default’ in the upper right corner of your browser. Just hit the button and restart the chrome and by now the problem is solved.

Thanks, but i already know that. It solves the problem, but the ad blocker still doesn't work with chrome. async dns must be disable to allow ad blocker to work.

Thanks, i'll try that, but its a vpn ad blocker and that's not really what i wanted. I already tried dns66 but it didn't work well + consume more battery than a system adblocker like adhell

The white boxes thing is normal for this app or any app that only blocks ads at a DNS/hostname level. Adhell does not do any cosmetic filtering that would remove the boxes, placeholders, frames, etc. in which the website itself embedded the advertisement.
The DNS_probe error you mentioned maybe due to adhell blocking the domain or else there is a dns resolution issue. Try turning off Adhell and seeing if chrome displays the sites you were having problems with. If needs be try clearing the dns cache within chrome again and/or rebooting the phone to clear the OS dns cache.
If the issue persists after you disable/turn off adhell then the problem is not from adhell at all... Did you try one of the following steps to troubleshoot?
turn adhell off, disable blocklists, turn adhell back on and see if you can browse the site?
Did you add "com.android.chrome|*|53" under the blacklist to disable port 53 for Chrome. The adhell version I am using lists this in the readme as how to block ads on chrome on port 53 for all ip addresses.
did you clear the dns cache within chrome?
If this is a bug with the app did you post on the applicable board/forum/site and ask the developer of adhell for any help?
If the adhell your using is updated often have you obtained the latest updates?
Getting in touch with the developer maybe of use to you on this. Myself when I had an issue the developer was real quick to help address the problem and implement a fix.

Thanks for your answer.
So I just tried everything you said :
With adhell disabled, it works. So the problem is linked to adhell. I tried adding the rule about port 53, but with that, I get error DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET instead...
As you said I'll try to post that on the adhell github
Ok i solved the issue
so for people having the same issue :
as scottusa2008 said, you need to add a firewall rule under Domains/Blacklist/Add firewall rule and put "com.android.chrome|*|53"
then reactivate domain rules and firewall rules on the adhell3 home menu.
And dont use the async settings in chrome, that is what was blocking my internet connection
Is this still working for you? I'm still getting ads in Chrome...

Looks like it's broken in Chrome 69 for me. It's been working throughout, but now I notice ads are appearing again since Chrome updated. I've turned off / restarted Adhell3, closed Chrome and re-opened, and checked settings are still normal.
Diden't work for me at first aswel.
Updated to the latest Adhell 3 (3.1.1.230) - I've actually removed the previous one completly.
Added com.android.chrome|*|53 to Firewall block rules. Make sure it's Firewall rule and not Domain.
After that, clear cashe at Chrome, and all working!
Have the newest Chrome version (the one with the graphics change)

Thanks. I'll grab the laptop and make the updated APK file and see how that goes. I'm guessing my Knox key is about to expire again too so may as well renew that
Edit - and how suddenly it works (on 3.0.0). Didn't do anything to change this but now ads are being blocked in Chrome again and I see this reflected in Adhell3's Reports. Weird!
ok adds with com.android.chrome|*|53 are blocked but whitelist is not working at all, any way to fix that?
data saver mode must also be disabled in chrome

Hi,
Few days back, I start experiencing some Adware issues in my windows machine and windows phone. I have a blog which server Google Ads. Now, If I load my blog or any blogpost and then starts click randomly anywhere, it open a popup to ad.adsmatte.com/rot.aspx?and_some_parameters. I noticed that, I can experience the same problem in any website that servers Google Ads. I suspect this to be an Adware. But, I'm not sure how this creeps into my machine as well as in my windows phone. All the software that I use are genuine and no pirated copies are there in my machine.
But, the most surprising this I noticed is, my Windows Phone is also affected by the same problem. Since, IE in Windows Phone don't allow extensions and has proper sandboxing architecture, then how come IE in windows phone could be affected? I tried resetting my browser in both desktop as well as mobile, but didn't helped at all. Also, I launched the browser in InPrivate mode, which has the same problem too. . I even tried loading the same in FireFox (with AdBlock installed), but has the same problem.
I searched the internet for a solution and came across these 2 links - http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-g-2014/528571-adware-redirects-most-websites.html, http://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=8189. And, I'm surprised by the timing of these issue. Is this a new Adware out-break? Is spreads to all machines connected in the same router, if I got it right.
Is there any fix? How can I get rid of this?
All machines connected to my wifi have gotten Infected with this admatte.com . Condition of my phone is worse , I cannot open any site from any browser as I get instantly directed to this site. It does look like an outbreak , because it has been reported on internet since yesterday only and no solution is working. No anti virus is able to detect this adware. So we really need help.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Ad-matte
I am facing the same issue. It infected my PC, iphone and my android. I tried malwarebytes with no luck. The attack is so bad that I am unable to open any article in NDTV app. Did anyone find a solution?
adsmatte
All this started just a few days ago. And yes it infects all the devices connected to the same router. What i observed was if you just try the link ad.adsmatte.com it redirects to google ad services, i dont know what to make out of it though. I have been using adguard extension in chrome and havent faced the problem since the installation. I would recommen you guys to do the same.
enjoy this

best solution worked for me
Got this virus on Firefox days ago, I had tried many means to delete it but did not help. I followed the guides here
removebrowserhijacker.com/remove-ads-by-ad-adsmatte-com-pop-up-how-to-get-rid-of-ad-adsmatte-com-adware
, reset browser setting and remove add-ons, then restart. It did help something.
For Chrome go to Settings--> Advanced --> Do not Track
Start the Do not Track option. This works for chrome browser in android mobile phones
ad.adsmatte prob solved..
I have been searching the prob all over the internet but at last my own intellect got me the solution... Its simple solution for android phones ..just go to wifi menu.. Long press ur wifi id and select modify settings.. In there change DHCP to static Ip and fill in the details as per shown there already.. In DNS type 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and save it.. Its done..No more rubbish admatte ...Such a headache i ve been through for a month
wat prashu posted sounds dandy except that I WI settings on my android - but Save button I not highlighted, and no use anyway
practically, my internet on hone is disabled because of the redirector.
If anyone is having any problems with the advertisement.just move to the router settings and head off to LAN and unselected dns automatically.. Select the dns manually and enter Primary dns- 8.8.8.8 Secondary dns- 8.8.4.4
I think I have got a virus in my phone. Sometimes when I open any link in Chrome, a random popup opens which usually redirects to the play store somewhere. Once I opened 9gag.com and it opened 9gag's play store link. It even happened with android authority blogs that when I interact with the page i.e touch or scroll anywhere, a random ad link just pops up. Not only this but the original page is replaced by a facebook page whose URL contains something about a campaign i.e its ID etc. History shows a website terraclicks.com and google search on terraclicks shows that it's a PC virus.
Not only with Chrome, I even got the same popup while opening a link using facebook's own default internal browser.
I used Avast to scan for viruses including all files but it found no virus. The same thing is also happening in my brother's phone and we don't share anything between phones. There's a laptop in my home which also shows terraclicks in its history. So I think the virus is spread over all the devices, but I am still unsure as to how to remove it while mobile's antivirus detects nothing.
ad virus
Yes i have the same problem. Please help.
well I installed ccleaner and cleared three things:
All apps cache, chrome history and empty folders. It disappeared for some days but last night it came again to me. Now I have repeated the process again, let's see what happens now..

which internet are you using? I am using PTCL
Do you also have this on another mobile or on computer?
no, there is only one mobile and it is only happening with it.
It's most likely a simple ad that is displayed when they detect your device and want you to download their app I stead. Use an ad blocker and you will be fine.

It's also appearing on computers. And I can say it's not coming from the website's owner because I personally work on a website and one time clicking on its logo triggered the ad. That website would never put an onClick ad on its logo.
terraclicks ad virus
You should install a new window on your computer which will definitely remove these ads but what to do with this in the android. I have installed every antivirus , antimalware and have performed a reset too but no effect.
OMG, I was also infected with Terraclicks. All I can find is removal guides that have nothing to say about Android system.. Can I just reinstall by browser or reset my phone to factory settings? I would prefer the second option because I have lots of photos that are important to me on my device. thanks
It's almost a year since the original post on this thread, and still searches for info on this insidious malware, Terraclicks shows just non-android solutions and generic adware removal info.
Like several other posters I have tried dozens of AV and anti-malware apps but nothing works so far.
Has anyone found a solution??
Clear all apps cache, browser cookies (it will log you out of all websites in the browser), and browser history (only if needed).
Try the above steps one by one and give some time between them to see if the problem goes away without doing the other steps.
It probably comes from visiting cheap websites like those sharing apk files or songs etc. They don't give a damn about the users.
For me this was solved by making uTorrent pro inactive, the adds stopped.
Once I uninstalled it they never came back.
Assuming you have cleared your Chrome cache etc, I suspect you have an app which has been installed which is causing this. In my case it was an .APK which I had downloaded externally (because I couldn't get it from the Play Store). As it happened, this particular app made itself a device administrator (you can check by going into Security, Device Administrators) and it also had greyed out the ability to uninstall it. The app was also running as a background process which is how it keeps spawning those ads. Nothing picked it up as Malware (Malware Bytes, Trend, CCleaner). That was the giveaway to me, that something wasn't right with this app. This would also explain why a phone reset wouldn't remove it, because that typically reinstalls all your apps (except in your case) the app would have probably come from the Play Store. Since removing the app, I've had no problems and the dreaded problem has gone away. Now I am a lot more careful about which APKs I loaded. Good luck
I had this issue and it ended up being one of the apps I downloaded. Once in uninstalled the correct app the problem ended. If you do factory reset, then redownload all your apps, then the problem would come back because you redownloaded all the apps you originally had. This is especially true if you use an app that's not in googles playstore so what he is saying sounds almost exactly the same as what happen to me.
Thank you that fixed it. I downloaded showbox of a site. N it messed up my phone.

Try these
1st
Settings: Applications: 3 Dots in right corner: Special Access: Optimize Battery Usage: Change view to all apps: Then turn off anything Facebook related.
2nd
Remove accounts and re-sign in
3rd
Verify Sync is enabled and data isn't restricted for those apps
4th
Make sure data saver isn't enabled within Facebook or Messenger app settings
There could be a ton of reasons for this though. If non of the above resolves then most likely it's either carrier data/service related or FB servers. If none of this resolves and it continues much longer I'd suggest opening a support ticket with Facebook as they could get a better idea of what is causing the delay.
O and having multiple active locations signed in can cause you to miss out on notifications and even have delays in sending/receiving messages.

Closing apps isn't a problem nor would cache/data. It would be settings related, account related, or some mixture of both.
FB says to first try removing accounts, wipe data/cache, remove apps (FB & Messenger), then start over. The article was done back in KitKat days but that is the best way to start in narrowing down the "why" aspect.
The article that follows that points to VPN and ad blocking as a potential culprit but I would think that's unlikely in your case.
FB services app including update manager came preinstalled on S7/S7 Edge in which I once had your same issue for a week but using package disabler I wiped those, uninstalled app (FB & Messenger), rebooted, followed by installing again. Fixed the issue and until now hadn't thought of it.

Light version works perfectly no delays or freezing at all
Hello,
I am using LG ZERO and have disabled most apps and Google apps. I use ApkPure to install apps and have a problem with internet browser that supports custom adblock filters.
I have tried Via and Lighting browser and it seems that each time I update and use EasyList, soon as the page loads or I cancel it, it becomes blank. This also happens with Fanboy's Annoyance filter and some other but most of them are working fine. I wouldn't know the issue and couldn't find anything online. Please help.
Thank you for your time
Tried factory reset and only installing Via, it still shows blank page after finished or skipped loading when EasyList filter is updated.
On my old phone android 5.1.1 blokada worked really well, basically not a single ad.
Now, with new android and new blokada, I have permanent ads all over the place and I am continuosly harrased by other "free" functions blokada installs without asking .
I can not even switch their vpn off!
What is the best ad blocker now?
I mean an adblocker, that will block ads, and that is it. If I want anything else, I will look for it.
I do NOT mean an ad blocker that works with the browser. I basically never use the browser on the phone. I am talking about ads from apps..
Thank You
This sounds odd, im using blokada 5 with default Block lists this App does not install additional Apps at all. Make sure to download from Official Site blokada.org also don't use the downgraded Slim Version. U add more Block Lists in Settings when default not enough.

You don't pay anything to use their DNS servers. Just configure the DNS IP in your network setings - no need for any software. The IP is in the link I gave.

Why don't you use Blokada 4. I use it and it works well for me. Just sometimes after switching on the device it keeps on saying 'please wait' but after switching off the vpn and switching on again it works perfectly.

Todey's "quality" of Blokada is why I asked this question. But of course in one sense you are correct. In Android 5.1.1 it worked perfectly, in Androids 10, 11, 12 it no longer does.
Actually I do not know, if it is Android, it might be the MIUI.
I can see the "progress" the updates deliver in so many places... My Camera f.e. demands access to the microphone when I want to take pictures! It will not let me take photographs without access to the mic....
I have become such a fan of how digitalisation has made this world so much better and more intelligent.

Thanks, Under "Modify Network" the phone only offers to switch between "Use randomised MAC" and "Use device MAC", the latter is set as default
After a while of trying out I managed to get to the DNS servers, where I saw that DNS1 is my IP adress and DNS2 is 8.8.4.4
In adguard's instructions it mentions two values, 94.140.14.14, 94.140.15.15, but it does not say if I use one of those in both or if the first one is DNS1 aand the other one is DNS2....?
Also: My phone is set to: Data only via WIFI, never through SIM. The ads I am talking about usually appear without the WIFI switched on and cannot come in via simcard. They appear f.e. on the HF Onkyo Flac Music player, which is the identical version and installation as on my old Android 5.1.1 phone, where NO ads appear...
But I will try the DNS change, if you tell me which one to put into 1 and into 2...

Use 94.140.14.14 in DNS1 and 94.140.15.15 in DNS2. It is unusual to have your IP in a DNS setting.
The ads are probably cached on your phone. You may need to clear both DNS cache and the app cache after updating DNS. Turning WiFi off and on may clear the DNS cache, if you can find no other way to clear it.

Well. I am afraid it did not work.
Everything has been reset after the phone re-start. Static is back to dynamic IP and the Ips are back to the old ones...
