What could have gone wrong? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I unfortunaly didn't backup my stock firmware for my old Galaxy S2 plus (used it for photos with my DSLR camera with DSLR Controller app).
However i installed some stockfirmwares from the net, and none works.
What have i messed up? I used Cyanmodgen the latest one for the s2 and then i switched to [ROM] [N6F26Q] AOSP Nougat (12 Jan 2017)
Anyone have a clue? Been trying for a week not getting it to work again!
Oh, and yeah the camera cable and OTG cable seems to work, since i can connect usb mouse/sticks, and so on.
But the camera is not recognised.

:bump: come on guys, no one knows about this stuff? Shouldn't it be basic for nerds

So obviously this is not a userfriendly forut sometimes.
But the solution seemed to be the OTG Cable was semi-broken. By Semi it means the cable still worked with Usb mouse, keyboard aswell as some memory cards. So i was fooled into believing that it worked.

[Q:] CM9 Nightlies no go w/ S3 (I9300) HDTV Adapter (EPL-3FHU...)?

Hi guys, could need some help, please:
I just can't get a picture from my S3 (neither YouTube, Homescreen, nor movie from SD Card) to show on my LG HDTV's screen... Any idea, why?
Just in case you're wondering...
-- I do have the latest/correct Adapter for the S3 (Model code: EPL-3FHUBEGSTD/Original Samsung bought on Amazon)
-- I have connected the S3 charger to the Adapter
-- One side plugged into HDTV, the other into the Adapter, and the latter plugged into S3.
I think that the CM9 Nightlies (RC2) just might not be up to par... (??)
Can anyone confirm it's actually working with your International S3 (I9300) and XpLoDWiLD's version of CM9 ??

I can confirm this on the Cm10 nightlies.
The mhl adapter works fine on Samsung-derived Roms, just not the CM ones.
I wonder if a different kernel would help? I plan to try a few later...

i have this exact same adapter and can confirm it working perfectly fine on samsung roms. I have posted a similar thread on getting it to work with USB OTG here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836822
I believe there must be something in the kernel to enable HDMI output (seeing as i get a "HDMI cable connected" notification) as well as switching into USB Host mode (and thus providing the adapter with power). It has been suggested that among the 11 Pins in the new Galaxy S3 port there should be 2 separate USB Ports, one to be used for charging, syncing, data cable, MHL, etc, and one to use for USB OTG while the other is in MHL mode.
I am hoping for new insight into this matter, since this would empower the device greatly. Together with the superior hardware, this would definitely be a killer feature.
+1

USB OTG not working S2

Hi. Today I tried to connect a flash drive, a mouse and a keyboard but none of them worked. I saw videos on YouTube showing that you only have to connect the cable and that's it. No apps of configs. When I connect the OTG cable it detects it and a notification appears saying USB connector connected. The flash drive's LED flashes and even the mouse optical flashes red but nothing happens. No cursor and no drives in memory. What can this problem be?
I am using Siyah's Kernel V6b4 and have JB 4.1.2 official leak.
Thanks for your help!!
I'm on Xylon ROM (trinity kernel) on galaxy nexus. I bought an OTG cable to play Vice City on my GN. No notification here, I test a mouse successfully but my Xbox controller doesn't work.

But I have Galaxy S2. And on some videos on youtube even with stock firmware 2.3.4 it worked.
I noticed that on the videos the notification is "USB host connected" while mine says "USB connector connected".
My OTG cable has a short between pin 4 and pin 5. 5 volts are coming out because I tested it with a multimeter.
It's mostly up to the kernel to provide OTG support. And unfortunately it seems it usually isn't something the kernel devs prioritize. I've had pretty good results with the CyanogenMod stock kernel though.

Can I install only the kernel on 4.1.2 leak? Because cyanogenmod does not support MHL and I don't wish to flash it.

Nexus 9 - no otg support?!

Hello good people,
I was so happy, that i can use Nex9 like Linux Desktop, because i used Nex7 (2012) like that.
Bigger screen, bigger experience. So i happily bought USB OTG, connect and....nothing.
Tried mouse, keyboard, two kind of OTG cables, HDD, two kind of Flash Disk's their formats etc...
I tried everything rooted, unrooted from 5.0 to 6.0.
Can u help me or explain me the situation?
Thank you sweet devs (no homo)
Still hoping.
Adam
Did you tried different USB OTG adapter? I tried pc mice, 3 USB sticks, 3TB HDD and everything works, no root stock Nexus 9

I just tested with a USB flash drive and my Audio DAC, and both work great.
Did you find a solution? im having a similar problem with my Nexus 9, it recognises the USB but NOTHING plays back, i just get play back errors.
Im using a USB OTG cable with a 32gb flash drive, both Nexus media importer and other file explorers display the contents but nothing plays back at all
SOLVED!

Hi! Yes, i solved this. Upgrading to 6.X (CM) it was first thing that works for diagnostic. Second thing is the OTG cabel. YOu have to use special OTG with electronic. (i personally call it expensive and cheap OTG) . Thats it. I hope that i helped you. Because i was very sad in your situation.
Sorry for english. I am from Bananastan

Logitech C930e with Android 6.x

Hello!
I am a newbie here.
I have H96 PRO+ Amlogic S912 Octa-Core TV Box w/ 3GB DDR3, 32GB ROM and I would like to buy a webcam to be able to use it for Skyep too.
I would like to know if the Logitech C930e is compatible with Android 6.x or should I buy the Logitech C920?
If you have other webcam recommendations, please feel free to mention it
Thanks
AFAIK it should not matter as the cam will only be detected as a normal webcam anyway.
I doubt Android has specific drivers for Logitech.
I tired on several Android devices with a USB inspection cam using noname Windows drivers.
The cam worked on all Androids right away but I was for example unable to activate the light.

Not too far right. Not every USB Webcam is supported by Android.
You have to pick a one that is compatible with the Android version you have.
For example, I tried an old USB Webcam Logitech v-ubk45 that has a built-in mic with my box and only the mic worked but the cam was not recognized.
Thanks for that info, will keep in mind.
So far I had problems with all sorts of devices but even cam I connected just worked.
I have a 920 still around in one of my spares boxes, will hook it later today and report back if my box will recognise it.
C920 should work well as long as you have Android 5.x and above
Can confirm, my C920 works fine on the X96 and the Yundoo Y8.
I confirm that logitech c930e works well with Android 6.x

I want to use the S9+ for an USB OTG video receiver. I am waiting for a special USB-C to USB cable, but I'm afraid it will not be enough.
The software "Go FPV" complains it does not have a UVC driver. It seems that UVC is the keyword for these devices to work.
I don't know yet how to solve this.
FPV (First person view) is used to control race drones. These send an analog video signal over 5.8 GHz.
It looks like u are right.
What is the explaination of the disappearance of the driver?
If people get it to work, please let us know.
