Do you have root?
If you do, make sure to have adb installed systemwide, bootloader unlocked for obivious reasons and usb debugging enabled. Fire up adb in a terminal or command prompt in the folder you wish to dump to and start here. Type:
adb devices
su (after typing this grant su permission on phone)
adb pull /system
adb pull /boot
then, if possible
adb pull /
The last one may not work. Regardless, if one of you can link me to the firmware your j7 came with stock and you are still on that build link it here and I'll download the firmware and get started on a rom for you. What carriers are currently using the J7?

Any android pie custom rom available for Samsung Galaxy J7 Max?
---------- Post added at 06:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:38 AM ----------
Any Android Pie custom rom for J7Max available? Google search did not show any.

@Sands207 @ashyx @rumorbox32 @TheMadScientist At present, I have android version 8.1 (Oreo) installed (by software update) in my J7 Max. Recently the warranty has expired so I wish to root but wish to retain the same OS 8.1. What is the procedure for that? Odin software usage may damage/fault the existing rom, if I am not wrong. I just want to root and use the Root facility. What is the procedure for that? google search did not help in this regard. Thanks for any replies.
(I followed the procedure correctly (Odin, Twrp, Magisk, No-verity etc.) but phone didn't boot stuck to Samsung logo, tried 5-6 times, finally restored back (from begining Twrp - Backup) but lost all the data.)

@Sands207 @ashyx@rumorbox32 @TheMadScientist
Presently no root access. I know the usage of adb.
Only to get the root access, used Odin, Twrp, Magisk, No-verity etc. on my Oreo 8.1.0. But because of bootloop (Samsung logo only) had to restore from the Backup and lost the whole data. Now its like a brand new fresh phone (Oreo 8.1.0 again) and no root. I shouldn't have tried the Odin, Twrp. Magisk, No-verity etc. Very disappointing.

[UNSUPPORTED] [RECOVERY][UNOFFICIAL] TWRP 2.8.7.0 - HWPLK - PLK-L01 - English

Development and support ceased.
For further explaination, see this post.
Q. Why do I need this? I already have one!
A. It has the correct details in it, so any (well written) recovery flash-able zip can determine if it's the correct device! The recoveries currently on XDA of the H7 are actually for the P8 and MediaPadX2
A TWRP recovery with correct default.prop details for the PLK
ro.board.platform=hi3635
ro.product.model=PLK-L01
ro.product.device=HWPLK
I've created it with the Marshmallow zImage (kernel), it works fine on my B140
You know the score:
Unizp twrp-2.8.7.0-hwplk.zip
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.7.0-hwplk.img
Q. Does it work on the Marshmallow Beta?
A. If you are willing, please flash it and let us all know
All stock recovery and boot images for PLK-L01 can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7/general/stock-plk-l01-boot-recovery-images-t3290348
Changes:
an adb tweaked version (2.8.7.0.a) added 11-Jan-2016
ro.adb.secure=0
persist.sys.usb.config=adb
To fix (when I get a new unlock code...)
fstab update
system mounted read-only (change in [Mount] section for now..)
cache wipe time (maybe switch to rm -rf instead ?)
some more tweaks...
Ace work again @sminki thanks for this.

ro.adb.secure=0
use adb shell without a confirmation prompt
persist.sys.usb.config=adb
was originally set to none (and was set to adb in the earlier twrp)
probably little use to most people :silly:
ok, thank’s!
I try to use TWRP without "a" and it work!
But it is not possible to clean my cache!
It starts, but will not end!
i have forbidden to mount system to r/w!

Mate, by not working i meant that it dn't help, the problem persist i.e bootlooping on other roms except miui. Nonetheless i solved the problem,it was either with the recovery or somewhere with vendor and system partition.

if you talking about treble rom, you need original recovery , not twrp.
and, for treble to work, after -
-- fastboot flash system yourdownloadedtreble.img --
you need to boot into recovery and need to format data/chace, so new system can acces it!

Currently there is no TWRP available for the a20e.
A developer would need to create one.
It would be good to have a thread which is used for the A20e.

Are you still available to help with the a20?
I upgraded to U4 and on using agrim720 TWRP.
My backups will restore but I get stuck on the boot logo.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for new possibilities, as use GCAM, playing games hahaha
The Lenovo Vibe K5 is a 2gb ram Phone, but it has 64 bit system
The A10 will support it very good I think

@afaneh92
Hope you are ok
It looks like I don't have permission to delete things from the system partition since I upgraded from u2 to u4.
I can't do it with root explorer and I can't do it with titanium.
This might be the same reason why I can't restore backups of the system partition.
I need to find a way to change the permissions of the system partition.

I think you need custom kernel with some security things disabled, if nothing changed in system.
Or flash back U2 boot.img if you can for testing.

One question: is it Ok to just stay with the U2 bootloader?
I have the U2 bootloader and an Android 10 GSI. Things are working fine, except MTP, but for that I am going to flash the corresponding kernel:

Hi physwizz,
I have two questions arising from curiosity:
What would be the advantages from upgrading from U2 to U4?
What would be the procedure to perform the aforementioned upgrading process?
PS: Using a GSI now, not stock Android.
Regards

That worked
Thanks. That saves me from going back to Odin to flash stock
The next step is to debloat using twrp file manager and backup system.img and use that one to flash.
