i bought from china the redmi note 2 and it came only with English and Chinese, and i wanted to install a global rom for it, in some instruction on xiaomi site/forum they said just download the rom, post in in the phone, enter the update app and there will be 3 dots, well i didn't had those dots, so i tried to flash custom recovery via flashify, it said all good, then i tried to enter recovery, it just doesn't let me(it gave me before the mi recovery, but when i tried to update zip from there it said invalid file).
so right now my phone is boot normaly into this chinese/english rom, everything works, but if i try to enter fastboot or recovery it just restart again and boot into the normal state
how can i reflash the recovery or get into the fastboot?
Install a Miui Developer Rom with root. Download flashify and flash twrp. Next flash your rom
that's how i have lost the recovery, i flashed via flashify the TWRP
i can't install miui developer rom without recovery
You can install anything with the MediaTek SP Flash Tool. Search for it on this forum or on Google.
install MI Flash Tool
then download fastboot developer rom or fastboot stable rom and flash it (not normal rom.zip but fastboot rom)
I have a similar problem - i tried to flash twrp recovery both by flashify and by fastboot flash and the recovery is simply not working. I can boot into fastboot without problems, or i can start the phone normally, but when i try to enter the recovery it just continuously reboots the phone and i have to take out the battery.
edit:
it appears i've been flashing wrong version of the recovery image, i flashed the one from this link and it worked - forum.androidurdu.net/showthread.php?tid=637
Hi!
My E2303 recently got stuck in a bootloop, I think maybe I've bricked my device..
The M4 is/was rooted and had TWRP flashed.
So, this is how I got in a loop:
I flashed "system, userdata, recovery & boot.img" via fastboot from a custom Marshmallow 6.0 build in the "development" forum.
The post said that you have to be on the 26.1.A.1.128 firmware, but I completely missed that sentence, the device was on 26.1.A.1.111 I think. But I am not 100% sure -I know atleast it was not on the .128 firmware.
So after the flash I rebooted my phone and it started to reboot itself at the "Android" logo.
I can still enter both Flashmode and Fastboot.
The problem is with flashtool, whenever I try to flash a stock firmware the app get stuck on "preparing files for flashing" and could sit like this for hours with no result. This is what I've tried so far:
-Updating flashtool to the latest ver.
-Flashing the stock .128 firmware. (flashtool reads that my device is on 6.0)
-"Repairing" via PC-Companion, but it said I'm on modified software. - so no help from that.
-Flashing the above .img files again to try and enter recovery. Did not work.
-Flashing the .sin files from extracted stock firmware - Resulted in error.
What more can be done??? Is my phone just a paperweight now or what??

I flashed TWRP from their app (i am rooted) but when it says success and I try to boot into the custom recovery it boots into Odin mode instead.
EDIT: I tried the .img version instead of the .tar and it won't boot into recovery at all now

Hi everyone,
I tried to install Lineage OS on my Xperia Tablet Z Wifi and followed the instructions here: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/pollux_windy/install
I am on Ubuntu and I did unlock the bootloader successfully. Then I tried to flash twrp but this is where things went wrong.
After entering
Code:
fastboot flash boot ./twrp-3.5.2_9-0-pollux_windy.img
the device did not start anymore. I can still enter fastboot mode and the device is recognized on the PC but else the only thing that happens is the LED blinking red.
Any ideas where to go from here are appreciated.

you flashed recovery to boot. So only recovery exists in boot section.
Of course tablet won't boot afterwards, as there is not kernel.
Download custom rom you want to install, unpack boot.img from roms zip files and flash via "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Afterwards enter recovery and flash custom rom zip, gapps or whatever you need.

I tried this but flashing the boot.img does not change anything unfortunately.

You can reflash stock ROM via Flashtool v.0.9.18.6. or flash another boot.img to check if it boots or not.
Thank you, this worked for me.
Should have used the right twrp form the beginning. flash to boot works if it is the right version in my case scorpion_windy
