What the hell? Looks like some "prototype" .kdz file with Oreo (build V20a so it's older than Canadian and Korean V20c). How did you find this?
EDIT: Apparently Oreo is out for H870, check other threads

Not a prototype: I'm downloading it now through LG Bridge.
It's the official update to Oreo.
I'm very surprised that 8.1 came from official sources before than from Lineage, though.

Got it to work like this now, TWRP and rooted on oreo.
Maybe try again if you have the time.
Basically the first attempt to boot in twrp will fail and reboot your device you have to time it well and try to reboot in twrp again
if you manage to boot in twrp cancel encryption, just reboot again straight back to recovery from TWRP, now mount system, format data to remove old encryption, factory reset to be sure and flash magisk

Ok I flashed TWRP through fastboot and it worked. I think my first DL was bad. It was half the size of the second one I downloaded.
Success here too. Thank you.
Its all ok with Axon Zte A2017 Chinese.
The last TWRP I conscioulsy installed was 3.0.4.1 but it now shows 3.0.N1-1, what is that? Could it have been updated automatically from the TWRP app?
Also, before I noticed that my boot partition disappeared from TWRP, I can no longer make backups of it or restore the ones I had. Why could that happen? I get something like "unable to locate boot". Thanks

I am guessing you used EDL mode to install TWRP as that is the modified version, as I saw that too. I used TWRP to flash the 3.0.4-1 image and all is normal.
EDIT: TWRP 3.0.4-1 on A2017U Running modified Stock B15 (lots of APKs frozen). Flashing TWRP 3.1 both from TWRP and from "Official App" results with black screen for Recovery. TWRP 3.0.4-1 re-flashed OK from app.
N1-1 is from unjustified devs bootstack.

Hi! I have an LG G5 h850 and I've flashed this ROM (a full flashable zip of Android Nougat 7.0 stock). The problem is I can't seem to root my phone.
If I flash any SuperSU zip with TWRP 3.1.0.0, the phone won't be able to boot afterwards (it will get stuck at the LG logo).
I've iunlocked my bootloader using the official procedure (fastboot getvar unlocked returns "yes") and I've also flashed no verity opt encrypt 5.1 after wiping data: my TWRP can access internal storage.
What am I missing? Is there a specific SuperSU zip which works on a Nougat h850? Has the problem got something to do with dm-verity?
I have an LG G5 H850 with TWRP 3.1.0..0 and SuperSU 2.65 installed. I did not install the no-verity and my phone is operating normally. Just need a way to get rid of the "your phone is unlocked" screen on boot up.

That's astounding. Do you remember the procedure you followed? Is the ROM the same I used (LG-H85020A-Flashable.COMPLETE.zip)? Is the precise SuperSU version UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.65-20151226141550?
Patching sepolicy failure
I've proceeded to reinstall N and SuperSU 2.65 and I see the following message:
Code:
- Patching sepolicy
--- Failure, aborting
Given Android N requires systemless mode, hence boot image patching, could this be the cause? What should I do?

I see... I couldn't update OTA because when it had to install the downloaded update it just rebooted to TWRP.
Anyway, after getting that error message, I flashed a newer version of SuperSU. It patched sepolicy successfully and even booted (I don't know what I did different than other times). Anyway, it prompted me with an "Enter password to unlock message", with some attempts already out (23/30).
Could it be because I have decrypted data partition? I read the decryption and root access are mutually exclusive. I decripted just because, after the 30th failed boot attempt, I tried it just to change something and see if it worked.
If I have to choose between the two, I'll choose root access. How do I restore encryption?
Sorry, have no idea, I don't use encryption.

I mean the default setup of the G5, whereas TWRP can't access internal storage and will ask you for a password upon starting, to which you have to hit "cancel".
When I hit cancel in TWRP in answer to the password I then swipe below to allow modifications. At least that is what I am offered on the swipe window.
Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
Yeah, that is indeed the default behaviour. However, at some point I've flashed no-verity-opt-encrypt zip. This removes the encryption. TWRP doesn't have to ask you for a password you do not know, and can thus modify /data partition. This, however, prevents you from rooting your device. And, apparently, prevents me from booting my phone right now. Is there any way to revert the effects of no-verity-opt-encrypt?
I am sorry, I am not even remotely akin to a developer, I only follow their instructions so am not aware if it is possible to revert the no- verity effects. The only suggestion I can come up with is to do a factory reset backbto stock Nougat and then redo the installation of TWRP etc omitting "no-verity" option. But I would check with someone like Autoprime first to see if this will work and not create more problems. Sorry I can't be of more help.
Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
No problem, you've been of enough help! I thank you for your time.
I know, I'm not akin to a developer as well, but I have the bad habit of getting myself into developer trouble
Solved one: I unbricked my phone. Followed this excellent guide from by dksoni411. I thank him with all my heart, as well as AutoPrime, Hyelton, bullghost and anyone else who contributed.
Solved two: I finally managed to root my h850. Don't know what I did different from the other dozen times I tried. From stock Nougat 7.0 I rebooted to fastboot mode via adb, flashed TWRP in fastboot, booted into recovery without allowing normal boot to happen before it, flashed SuperSU (v2.79-20161211114519), didn't wipe cache or dalvik, and rebooted. Upon boot, phone reset once and then booted straight into Nougat, with SuperSU apk installed. Yay!

Hello everyone! I'm new on XDA and this is my first thread.
So, I've been messing around with my Honor 7 lately. I've flashed a custom recovery (TWRP), flashed a custom ROM (Unofficial CM13 for Honor 7: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7/development/unsupported-cyanogenmod-13-honor-7-plk-t3542627) and root (SuperSU) and I've started to regret all of my decisions so I would like to take a fresh start (AKA flashing the STOCK ROM/Firmware)
Now, before anyone starts redirecting me to other (similar) threads, I've tried a lot. I tried to flash the stock recovery (a lot of different versions) but still when I try to boot into the stock recovery, my phone just reboots. I tried to do the force update thing (holding both power + & - buttons: http://www.gogorapid.com/flash-stock-rom-huawei-honor-7/), but this combination just boots my phone into TWRP. Could it be that I'm doing something wrong or that I'm missing something, like some requirements that are not being met? Please help me, I would appreciate it a lot! Thanks in advance.

Could it be? I booted my phone into bootloader (unlocked) and flashed stock recovery with adb using the command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img". I tried a variety of versions (from B100 up to B330 I think), but none of them seemed to work. What am I doing wrong?

Download:
A1 Oreo Firmware: Google Drive
A1 Nougat Firmware: Google Drive
5X Nougat Firmware: Google Drive
FAQ:
Which one should I install?
If you plan to use Android One rom on the 5X, you should flash A1 firmware.
If you come back from Android One to MIUI, you should flash 5X firmware.
If you are going to use Android One Oreo, install A1 Oreo Firmware.
When should I install it?
You should only install it whenever you switch from A1 roms to 5X roms and viceversa. If you update your A1/5X rom, there is no need to reflash it.
Where does they come from?
A1 Oreo firmware is extracted from January fastboot image (8.1.10)
A1 Nougat firmware is extracted from the December fastboot image.
5X Nougat firmware is extracted from China Stable 9.0.3.0 fastboot image.
How do I install it?
- Backup your EFS
- Extract zip file on your computer
- Reboot your phone into fastboot (Power + Vol Down)
- Connect your phone to your computer with an USB cable
- Double click on "flash_only_firmware" file.
- Wait until it finishes.
- Reboot into TWRP, wipe cache and dalvik and then reboot to system
How do I backup my EFS?
- Install my TWRP.
- Boot into TWRP
- Tap on Backup
- Check EFS and uncheck rest of checkboxes
- Swipe to backup
Is there any way to flash this without a computer?
At the moment there isnt any other way to flash it without a computer.
Does it give me an ability to install OTAs when flashed to A1?
thanks for the nice roms:good:

I couldn't get the original Nougat one to install either at first. The only way to install it was what I mentioned in this thread:

The firmware file in the OP should be unzipped in the same folder as the fastboot program in your PC.
Since there's no thread about it yet (in here then), I'll just make this one so that there won't be any more confusion for TWRP links.
Do keep in mind that if you use the official bootloader unlock method, you won't receive OTA updates anymore from Asus.
Have a great day and happy flashing

At the time, I do not know either what is causing this. Because the Oreo rom is rather bugged a bit. (Lower audio, wifi not turning on once it's off and now this)

Since it's nougat, preferably use 20180304. Once on Oreo, you can flash the latest.

Did you upgrade your system to Oreo? If so, did you have substratum themes on?
I wonder when he opens the twrp he asks for the PIN number , password or something?
