I have been using my Tab A 9.7in for more than a year and im experiencing a issue with its stereo speakers. Their volume is very low, it is observed that rarely they sound almost okay but normally their voulume is too low like need to get very close to hear clearly.
I'm running nougat 7.1.1 not rooted, would like know if it can be rooted or not.and how to boost volume.
Thanks!

Quick question for anyone who may be able to answer this.
Has anyone noticed a low volume when the speaker phone is ON while making a call?
The phone speakers are awesome when you play music. Also normal call volume is very good. However, when I turn the speaker phone ON during a call, the sound from the speakers doesnt seem to be that great. Infact it is quite faint.
Any one else has the problem?? Also does anyone know any solutions??
Used the speaker phone yesterday for the first time and must admit even set to the highest it was piss poor low, very disappointed as like you said the speaker when playing music or video is fantastic.

this is my problem too, even my X10 mini beats the XPS! I need a louder speaker phone...
I also have this problem with a very very low sound when speakerphone is ON during the phone conversation. I have the latest software 2.3.7.I have had 4 Android phones before Xperia S and did not had such a basic problem. After all the quality conversation is mobiles priority number one before all the media, design, display and etc in my opinion. It is so low that I don't hear 50% of the conversation on a speakerphone when am I alone in a room. Please don't give any solutions like turn up the volume during conversation and all other settings since I have done it already. This is simple a manufacturers software mistake. Sony please take this seriously and don't embarrass on such a basic thing in phone like speakerphone volume. Everything else on this phone is great, only problem is a loose cover for the micro usb that you use everyday to charge the phone.
Strangely, when I switched to speaker mid call yesterday the other person commented that I got A LOT clearer for them Didnt sound quiet for me either, though I was in a quiet environment so it wasnt competing with anything.
Did you turn on xLOUD?

Thats for music with the music player.
hi all xperia s users. i've recently become an owner of this phone and i am very pleased overall with its performance and design.
but during phone calls the speaker isn't loud enough, especially while traveling on the bus and in other laud places.
but i have noticed that when i play music from the phone's speaker it is much louder, so it is not an issue of the hardware, but the volume seems to be limited during a normal phone call.
so can the volume during taking phone calls can be increased in some way beyond its current maximum value?
cheers
lucas
+1 to this issue. The speaker phone is very subdued compared to music when its played through the speakers.
I am on 62 firmware, has this issue been fixed in later updates?
any help guys?
yeah I have noticed the volume is low, never used to be!!
Anyone found a way to fix this?
speaker volume
since it works fine in walkman and videos it's not problem of the hardware as it is obvious....i had an lg 2x before xperia s and i flashed a newer baseband and the noise in calling gone and the volume fixed....even when i install cm9 ics the speaker in calling got even louder...so i think it would be kind to search for a better solution by software such as try some basebands or kernels...but to flash this we need root...so if you hope for a fix root required otherwise we can stay as we are now...
This is a flaw that Xperia S came with. The Loudspeaker during call. Cant really say if its a hardware problem or software.
I've looked around, and while I've found similar threads in MotoX, I havent found anything similar for the Samsung S3. Ever since I upgraded to android 4.4.2, my in-call volume has been very low. Unless I'm in a quiet room, I am unable to hear a thing. My speaker is fine, as is the volume on a head set, but the volume from the ear phone is very low. Has anyone encountered this recently, and if so, what was the fix? I've tried changing ROMs, going back to 4.3, etc, but nothing seems to reverse the problem.
Thanks all!

Any recommendation? I used boeffla, but unfortunately that only changes the volume for headphones and the rear speaker, not the ear speaker

It seems like every new version of Android, my volume gets lower, and my options for boosting the volume get fewer. Even my bluetooth headphones, which were originally absurdly loud, are now too quiet to be heard in many situations. I can't even use the thing for media anymore, which is the whole reason I got the thing. Does anyone know of a working method for boosting the volume on CM11 (4.4.4 kitkat)? I've searched high and low, and have come up with nothing but dead ends. Thank you.
Hi,
I'm new to this forum and a n00b, so please be gentle
I have an old Xperia Z2 which I bought in 2014. The phone is fantastic, and in complete working condition till now. I recently updated it to Marshmallow as well and it works without a hitch (in comparison to my daily driver - Galaxy Note 4 which went really sluggish with Marshmallow). However, I have a strange problem which I'm unable to rectify. The earpiece volume on the phone has gone really low. This problem popped up sometime last October (even while on Lollipop), and I didn't worry too much about it as I had my Note 4 as a daily driver. But I'm now using 2 SIMs, so I need this phone to work.
The sound from the earpiece has become extremely low, and it is impossible to hear the other person when outside even with low traffic noises. I've tried tinkering with all settings/methods available, shutting off the noise cancelling mic, trying to clean the earpiece grille, performing a hard reset, but nothing helped. However, the volume is fine when playing audio through the speakers (I'm not sure through, I assume that the earpiece doubles up as a speaker - I may be wrong). Everything is fine with wired/wireless earphones though.
Is there a way I can tweak anything to make this better - I mean, all I want is the earpiece volume to be loud enough to be usable. The phone has been out of warranty for a long time, so I'm fine with rooting it. However, I'm a n00b (as already mentioned), and I need some guidance on how to do it. Also, I'm a bit wary of taking it to service, as firstly the phone is out of warranty and repair would cost a bomb surely, and secondly - I don't want to mess up the water resistance (not that I dunk it in water, but it's a nice to have feature).
Can anyone please help me out with this? Also, does anyone else have this problem?
Thanks
if you are rooted and have a working recovery try this audio mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...-dontbelive-marshmallow-stereomod-v1-t3366065. It increases the speaker and earphone volume and i am using this mod on my z2 this is great.

Not that kind of advanced n00b. Yup I did, the earpiece is at highest volume.
