Please help!!! - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

I am confused a bit about project treble...
I recently installed Resurrection remix Oreo 8.1 ROM from here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/xiaomi-redmi-note-4-snapdragon-roms-kernels-recoveries--other-development/rom-resurrection-remix-v6-0-0-t3748465 and got it running in my device.
Q1. Does flashing a treble ROM bring treble support to my device? Does it automatically create the "vendor partition on the device ?
Before this I was running Resurrection remix nougat 7.1.2
ROM from here - https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/xiaomi-redmi-note-4-snapdragon-roms-kernels-recoveries--other-development/rom-resurrection-remix-5-8-5-t3772814/amp/ and I have its backup (made by using Redwolf - 26 - mido (non treble)) on my sdcard.
Now I have redwolf-26-mido(treble) in my device.
Q2. If I flash the non treble recovery and try to restore my Nougat 7.1.2 backup, will it be restored properly? I mean that wouldn't the " vendor " partition cause any problem. Please suggest me the steps to properly restore the backup of non-treble-rom...
Thnx in advance...

You have flashed a treble recovery i guess before flashing the rom, right?
Well i think if you wipe everything from the treble recovery and revert to the non-treble one,the one you had before i think you will be ok.

[SOLVED]Lineage OS device encryption

Hi everyone!
I want to know if I can use "encryption" or "device encryption" in Lineage OS (Android 7.1.1) with TWRP 3.0.2 with any problems
Actually, can TWRP 3.0.2 decrypt Lineage OS (Android 7.1.1)?
Device: Redmi Note 3 Pro (Qualcomm)
Thanks for any info and help!
Device Encryption is working fine with TWRP 3.1.0.
NOTE: If you have a KATE (Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 SE) installing TWRP 3.1.0 will make official Lineage OS updates (OTA) fail because Lineage OS only support Kenzo and not Kate. A workaround for this problem is flashing TWRP 3.0.2 when you want to update Lineage OS.
NOTE 2: If you rollback to TWRP 3.0.2 to update Lineage OS (Because you have a Kate device and don't want to change any update file) you will be unable to decrypt your system. So if you have a KATE and you are using KENZO ROMS for your device, do not use encryption if you want to update your system. *If you know how to change update files and trick TWRP 3.1.0 to flash a KENZO ROM on your KATE device, ignore this note.
How can i disable encryption ? I have twrp 3.1.0. And latest lineage os build.

Unfortunately, you can't revert encryption. But the easiest way is making a backup with TWRP, later "Wipe -> FORMAT DATA" and then restore your backup.

try Redwolf recovery, select correct variant, for 3GB or 2GB RAM.
copy interal estorage to pc and from RedWolf TWRP select wipe > format data (this delete /data /internal (you luse docs and pics if not backed up to external SD or PC) and remove encryption added by MIUI)
then flash your favourity rom, i recommend Nitrogen OS 8.1 + unifficial gapps 8.1, its stable for daily driver. i dont know if volte works, im not from india.

Unable to install Oreo GSI ROMs

Hello. I have an unlocked G8342, and I'm trying installing phh's GSI. But after I flashed the system image, I cannot boot my phone. It just shows "SONY" and then rebooted automatically.
I tried flashing the SW_binaries_for_Xperia_Android_9.0_2.3.2_v5_yoshino.img or SW_binaries_for_Xperia_Android_8.1.6.4_r1_v16_yoshino.img.
Before I unlock my phone, I've upgraded to the official Pie release. But what I'm installing is Oreo. Does this matter? Or what should I do in order to make it work?

if u dont backup ur TA partition before unlocking your bootloader, camera will not work on oreo gsi roms. I recommend u can try pie gsi roms, but it has worse camera quality and stability issues..

I just cannot even boot the GSI ROM. The camera might have issues, but it's not important right now...

what gsi rom are you trying to flash? Do you have TWRP installed? I have a SOV36 (Japan AU version) and it boots with most of all gsi's. Currently using omni rom.
Here is my steps for flashing.
1. boot into twrp
2. goto wipe and factory reset (don't wipe data, system or cache just factory reset)
3. flash img
3a. optional: goto wipe; repair and resize system (if you want gapps)
4. flash gapps
5. flash magisk if you want root
6. reboot
Hope this helps

I have tried the Phh's latest 9.0 GSI and RR's GSI and ERFAN's Q GSI and the official q GSI from Google.
None of them work, all stuck on the Sony boot logo

latest RR gsi did not work for me either but roms like omni, bootleggers, lineage 16 all booted on my SOV 36
Flash the lastest pie ftf, then follow sinkoo1979, instructions, also be sure you only flash ARM64-A versions.. I know Omni, Bliss and bootleggers work with imo bootleggers was the nicest but the unofficial one here has ceased development.. Use open camera for your pics...
The Roms are a hit or miss...make and keep a twrp backup handy...

Pocophone Error 7 recovery / Vendor problem cannot install any rom

Hi i have a problem with my poco f1
Status : UBL , NO OS , Orangefox recovery
Tried : flashing many roms and changed from twrp to orangefox but the problem persists. While trying to install the roms i wiped everything before.
Problem : Whenever i try installing a custom rom i get an error 7 message that says : xiaomi.verify_vendor() failed to read current vendor UTC build date: -2
I am not able to flash any custom rom and when i try i get this error.
The problem occurred when i tried to boot on my installed rom from multirom recovery. I had backed up everything but when i restore the backup (except the multiRom recovery) the phone is stuck on the pocophone logo.
If you need any more info i can provide please ask for it.
try clean flashing global stable fastboot rom using mi flash tool then flash twrp and flash any rom you want
https://mirror.akhilnarang.me/MIUI/beryllium/
take the latest vendor image 9.3.28 (dated 29-03-2019 17:11)
flash this via twrp and then flash rom
it should work

I will try this method first due to the smaller download size. I hope it works so i do not have to flash the stock rom again and go though the whole process.
It worked. I am now flashing a custom rom. My question is why did this happen ?

I think you came from MIUI10.2.x
since, miui10 on android9, Xiaomi has started using MODIFIED version of VENDOR image*
so when you flash custom rom which works on standard vendor image, it gives your either error7 or hangs on splash screen
*android has following partitions /boot /recovery /system, /data, /internalstorage /persist /OEM
oem or VENDOR partition translates android
using modified oem (vendor) image in android 9, its xiaomi's attempt for speedy android updates (CGI) (treble)

miui10.2.x has its own modified vendor image,
to comeback on standard image, you must flash the image (which you did)

Is it possible to install GSI ROMs?

Hello, I'm trying to install a GSI ROM on my Exynos S21 SM-G991N, since there weren't any custom ROMs for it. Is it possible to install a GSI ROM to S21? and how can I install one?

I used the official Havoc GSI (the unofficial somehow didn't work), but I was also able to install the Linage GSI and PHH GSI. I think you have to pick the A/B variant and for me only the NON-vndklite version worked. I also usually restore a stock backup first (without recovery to keep TWRP), then I format data and after that install the GSI (without magisk).
I hope this helps

I used the Official Havoc-OS 4.1 A/B, but I couldn't boot with it. Maybe it is different depending on the model?
I have experienced this sometimes as well, key for me was to restore the super partition to stock, format data and then flash the gsi with the zip mentioned in the comment above. I have the exynos variant.

I cannot enroll fingerprint because on-screen fingerprint sensor is not working. Also, I can't use 5G or LTE (only H+)
Is there a way to make any of them work?
Fingerprint sadly does not work for me either. I was able to switch to LTE in the mobile data settings. I hope the GSIs will soon support fingerprint for S21
