Hi everyone!
I want to know if I can use "encryption" or "device encryption" in Lineage OS (Android 7.1.1) with TWRP 3.0.2 with any problems
Actually, can TWRP 3.0.2 decrypt Lineage OS (Android 7.1.1)?
Device: Redmi Note 3 Pro (Qualcomm)
Thanks for any info and help!
Device Encryption is working fine with TWRP 3.1.0.
NOTE: If you have a KATE (Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 SE) installing TWRP 3.1.0 will make official Lineage OS updates (OTA) fail because Lineage OS only support Kenzo and not Kate. A workaround for this problem is flashing TWRP 3.0.2 when you want to update Lineage OS.
NOTE 2: If you rollback to TWRP 3.0.2 to update Lineage OS (Because you have a Kate device and don't want to change any update file) you will be unable to decrypt your system. So if you have a KATE and you are using KENZO ROMS for your device, do not use encryption if you want to update your system. *If you know how to change update files and trick TWRP 3.1.0 to flash a KENZO ROM on your KATE device, ignore this note.
How can i disable encryption ? I have twrp 3.1.0. And latest lineage os build.

Unfortunately, you can't revert encryption. But the easiest way is making a backup with TWRP, later "Wipe -> FORMAT DATA" and then restore your backup.

I see "phone is encypted" under Settings -> Security&Privacy -> Cryptography and Credentials
Fingerprint stopped working this morning (yesterday I updated to build 20180904 and the sensor was working after the update)

I am confused a bit about project treble...
I recently installed Resurrection remix Oreo 8.1 ROM from here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/xiaomi-redmi-note-4-snapdragon-roms-kernels-recoveries--other-development/rom-resurrection-remix-v6-0-0-t3748465 and got it running in my device.
Q1. Does flashing a treble ROM bring treble support to my device? Does it automatically create the "vendor partition on the device ?
Before this I was running Resurrection remix nougat 7.1.2
ROM from here - https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/xiaomi-redmi-note-4-snapdragon-roms-kernels-recoveries--other-development/rom-resurrection-remix-5-8-5-t3772814/amp/ and I have its backup (made by using Redwolf - 26 - mido (non treble)) on my sdcard.
Now I have redwolf-26-mido(treble) in my device.
Q2. If I flash the non treble recovery and try to restore my Nougat 7.1.2 backup, will it be restored properly? I mean that wouldn't the " vendor " partition cause any problem. Please suggest me the steps to properly restore the backup of non-treble-rom...
Thnx in advance...
You have flashed a treble recovery i guess before flashing the rom, right?
Well i think if you wipe everything from the treble recovery and revert to the non-treble one,the one you had before i think you will be ok.

Hello Everybody,
I have so following problem with data encrypted in twrp:
I installed latest version of twrp
! Used MIUI 10 developer version and data was encrypted according Twrp (according to settings device is not encrypted.
To flash no new OS from Twrp I had to format all data.
After that I installed second latest (08.11) Pixel Experience and Magical latest version.
I rebooted system.
! No Twrp and magisk APK installed.
Manually installed Twrp and magisk APK
I can install adaway also (superuser is installed)
Problem:
System mentioned that there is a new version of Pixel experience (15.11) and I wanted to install it. But it didn't work -> Twrp stopped installation, because data is still encrypted.
To install latest version I formated everything again and did above steps. But again with same result... I can install everything (manually) and everything works without to install new versions of Pixel Experience or anything else from Twrp recovery.
I tried to encrypt my phone over settings, but after encryption the system freezes after putting in pin code at the start. In twrp recovery I have to put in the code too, but again encryption is still available...
I have no further idea. Could you help me? Don't want to loose all data Everytime an update appears
Magisk "force encryption" manually enabled. The other setting is not enabled.
Thank you very much for your help!!!!!

Hello, friends. My plan is the following:
1. Unlock bootloader with DC having EMUI 8.0 and Xloader 01.
2. Install OmniROM Pie Alpha 5.2 (EMUI 8) from OpenKirin: https://openkirin.net/download/
3. Install TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/development/huawei-mate-10-pro-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3769904
I do not know if I have to install TWRP before or after the ROM, but I have the feeling that, given the peculiarity of OpenKirin ROMs, I have to do it later.
For the three steps there are requirements or limitations to consider. However, it seems that the installation of TWRP is the fact that most care must be taken in this case.
In this unofficial TWRP, there seems to be differences in treatment depending on whether EMUI 8.0 or 8.1 is installed.
The following is not clear to me:
a. Do I have to install TWRP before or after the OpenKirin ROM?
b. Do I have to install TWRP having EMUI 8.0 or can I have EMUI 8.1?
c. Can I install an EMUI 8.1 ROM with this TWRP installed? It is not clear to me, because despite the initial warning of the thread, the changelog shows that there are some options for EMUI 8.1
d. Is the OmniROM Pie Alpha 5.2 ROM EMUI 8.0 or 8.1?
e. What Xloader has the OmniROM Pie Alpha 5.2? I do not even want to smell the Xloader 02, since my idea is to always stay in Xloader 01 to not have so many barriers that Huawei puts to those that we want to tinker with.
Normally, I know that TWRP is installed before, since ROMs are usually installed from there. However, OpenKirin are installed through Fastboot and only overwrite the System partition. The following is read in its https://openkirin.net/user_guide/openkirin-rom-installation-instructions/ Instructions page:
4. TWRP and other custom recoveries are not compatible! Please make sure you have installed the stock recovery of your device. If you install the ROM with a custom recovery, we can not help you with any problems that may arise.
13. Before starting the ROM, you must perform a factory reset on stock recovery.
15. Press the "Delete data / factory reset" button.
It has all the looks that in case you want to venture to install TWRP you have to do it after installing OpenKirin ROM, due to its peculiarity.
Do you have more information? Is there anyone who has installed TWRP on Mate 10?
@Pretoriano80
Can you help me, please? I do not want to kill my phone.
Please.
Can someone help me please?
No one?
Hi!
I recently updated from Havoc OS 2.9 to 3.3, so now I am on Android 10.
Up until now, the OrangeFox recovery was able to decrypt data. But with the new version I always get an error.
Did someone manage to have recovery decryption working in android 10? If yes, how?
Format your data. With twrp. Encryption is gone. Be carefull after doing that.. the first bot May Take a while so wait and don't worry
"E1001: failed to update system image. Updater process ended with error 7" on Mido
I need your help guys.
I kept on getting this error saying "E1001: failed to update system image.
Updater process ended with error 7" everytime I flash roms on my Redmi note 4x SD variant Mido. No matter what the rom I flash and recovery I use results were all the same.
I already edited the roms that I have, I removed all the asserts scripts from the updater script but it was still the same.
I have been flashing roms before but I am not completely familiar with this error and on how to fix it.
I hope you guys can help me.

Attempted to flash:
Corvus 5 Q mido
Corvus 7.5 Q mido
Corvus 8.5 Q mido
Syberia OS 3.9 Q mido
Resurrection Remix Q 8.6.2 mido
MIUI 12 Razer mido
MIUI 11 stock global recovery rom
Colt OS Q latest ver mido
AbhiXROG Edition 20.9.24
Recoveries that I've used:
TWRP 3.3.1
Orange Fox r11
Pitchblack Recovery 3.0.0 (twrp 3.4.0 based)
Firmware:
MIUI 11 Global stable
They've failed me, and my phone is dead until now.
I also tried to flash fastboot global miui rom, so what I did is I boot my phone to EDL then used miflash the latest one to flash the rom into my phone. Flash attempts were all successful, but my phone kept on being stuck on Mi Logo. I can no longer think of other options.

Hey, I faced the same issue today.
I'm not sure what I did wrong, but I think I wiped my data incorrectly or something.
I tried many things but it wouldn't work.
Here is how I resolved it.
1. Installed Orange Fox Recovery (Maybe not necessary, but that's what I did)
2. Format Data. (Not Wipe, Format)
3. Flashed ROM again.
Voila, it flashed.
Hope it helps.
Thanks for your response. I'll make sure to do the same procedure. I hope it can fix everything.
