Hi all,
Is there a possibility to change the configuration of USB connection?
I would like to connect between two devices via OTG connector, but would like the host to be charged and not the other way around.
Looking on some files I saw /sys/class/dual_role_usb/otg_default/power_role.
Without being connected this file is set to "none".
While connected to a PC or to a wall charger this file is set to "sink".
While connected to another device with an OTG adapter this file is set to "host.
My question would be is how can I set it to "sink" and keep it that way forever (or as long as USB is connected). I believe I cannot edit that file, because it is being modified by the system on every new USB connection.
Thanks,
Shedaim

USB transfer problems...
I have had a lot of problems in the past when transferring files using a USB extension, Samsung docking station, or anything else inline from the PC’s USB port. Try hooking your Samsung USB cable to the back of your pc (motherboard connection). Don’t put anything else on the cable (extensions, etc).
Hope this helps…

Thanks for that information. I came online this morning looking for help with the same problem and just got my answer. I've been connecting mine with a cable from the tab to an 8-port USB hub, which in turn was connected to my desktop.
Thanks for the information!
Most other android devices i know of you can plug em in with a USB cable and it shows up on the computer like a USB memory stick. Thus far with every setting i try the prime shows up as like a camera or MTP device or whatever, makes it a pain to transfer files and it blocks some system files.
Am i missing something here or is there a way to make the prime just show up as a USB memory stick on my computer?
Have you installed the USB driver from ASUS?
http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Eee+Pad+Transformer+Prime+TF201&p=20&s=16
Mine shows up as an MTP device but also shows the drives and they are drag and drop accesible.
I just broke my Nexus 5's screen. It is not responding but the other functions of the phone work. The display is 80% broken (a bit of the right-hand side is intact).
I tried to get back my data via USB cable, but since my screen doesn't work, I cannot change the USB options. It only allows me to charge.
So what can I do with this? I tried the USB mouse method but it only allows me to unlock the phone, but not change the USB option coz I cannot connect my USB mouse while I connect my phone to the computer via USB cable.
Thanks so much!
Hi, when I connect my Poco with USB cable to my computer the installation of the drivers are ok, windows found the device.
But when i open it the Poco's window is completely white and empty: no files, no folders...there is not the SD card...
I would like to transfer flies from pc to phone by USB connection but it seems impossibile!!
The error message is: "the device has stopped responding or has been disconnected"
P.S.
Debus USB activate, windows 7
Did you change USB connection mode from charging to transfer files? You know, after tapping on notification appearing after USB connection?
Another issue (encountered by me), even with correct connection mode, Pocophone device in Windows 10 (maybe in Windows 7 is the same) remains empty if connected thru an additional USB3 hub. Direct connection to one of USB ports in PC case works flawlessly.

The different thing I have done from this morning is to disable and after enable developer option...now I can see the 2 folders on the PC in the Poco window: SD memory and internal memory!!
Don't know why...but works!!
Thank You so much!! :good:
I just bought a Lazmin112 FHD 1920x1080, 32GB , 7inch Android 12 tablet although it appears to be some kind of wholesale thing that's available from literally dozens of different retailers. If it helps it shows up as a Model number P50 under About tablet.
This is my first exposure to Android 12 so I'm not sure whether I'm seeing differences in Android 12 from Android 11 or if the differences are specific to this tablet.
The bottom line is that I can't connect to the device via usb, the PC can't see the usb data space nor does adb list any devices attached.
I've enabled Developer options but many of the controls I'm familiar with are not present. I've enabled USB debugging but there is no default USB usage setting or any other USB related setting other than USB debugging.
The documentation, such as it exists, merely says "USB just only be used for data transmission".
Does anyone have any kind of clue as to how to deal with this?
You could try swiping down to get to the notifications area and tap on the "Connected as media device" notification and then changing it to PTP mode. That sometimes works for USB debugging.
There are various reasons why your Android device is not able to transfer data. Though Android File Transfer is an effective application for transferring data, the restrictions limit the activities. Mac doesn't support media transfer protocol (MTP) for transferring files from Android to Mac. So, it is essential to install Android File Transfer on your Mac to transfer files from Android to Mac. When Android File Transfer could not connect to the device, you might find that Android File Transfer is not working properly.
Here are the common reasons leading to unresponsive Android File Transfer on your Mac:
The file transfer feature is not enabled on your Android mobile/tablet.
Your USB cable is defective.
Your Android device or Mac computer is not compatible with Android File Transfer.
Your Mac's USB port got damaged.
You have installed Samsung Kies or Samsung Smart Switch on your Mac.

Thanks for the input.
As it turned out I was using the cable that came with the tablet and apparently it's either damaged or more likely it's a charging only cable because as soon as I used another cable I did finally get the connected as media device notification and was able to view the file structure from the PC.
Thanks again.
