The way to custom firmware flashing on Samsung Galaxy S5 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Frequently, the custom ROM firmware flash requires an unlocked bootloader always. Hence, rooting is a required manner of flashing the custom firmware of any Samsung Galaxy mobile device. So you have to find the CF Auto Root and the most compatible custom ROM firmware file with your device build number. Once downloaded all requirements, enable USB debugging and then boot the device into download mode. First, root the system and then the bootloader will be unlocked. Then you will be empowered to flash the custom firmware. Read more before engaging in the custom firmware flashing.

[q] can i flash straightaway?!

I'm getting the Galaxy S 2. However, can I straightaway flash a custom ROM or do I need to unlock bootloader first???
It has an unlocked bootloader, thus you can install any custom ROM straightaway.
You can flash straight away, a ROM like Lite'ning will root your phone so no need to root before hand.

Help - Understanding the Custom Rom Installation Process

Hi
I want to install a custom rom to my alcatel one touch p310x 2GB :
I have rooted the tablet and made a backup using MtkdroidTool
After reading some articles about how to install custom rooms I have some trouble to understand the process :
1- What's the difference between rooting and unlocking the bootloader ?
2- Did my device need to be rooted and the bootloader unlocked to install a custom recovery ?
3-Do I need to install a specific custom recovery for my device or only to use the latest version from any custom recovery?
4- Do I need to install a specific custom Rom version or only to use the latest version from any custom room ?
Rooting is gaining the admin status of the /system partition which allows you to have the ability of greater control of your phone. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooting_(Android_OS)
Unlocking the bootloader is removing a security restriction built in that disables the ability to install custom recoveries and kernels. http://www.kingoapp.com/help/bootloader.htm
You must use roms and recoveries built specifically for your phone unless otherwise specificed by a developer for some phones that are basically the same version as another with minor differences. If a developer does not have your phone listed as supported, do not attempt to load, ever. Using a recovery or rom that is not made to boot on your device will almost always result in leaving the phone unable to boot, or even worse, unable to even power on depending on the phone and update attempted.
thank you

Verizon note edge marshmallow bootloader unlock new ROM N915VVZW2CQI3

Please, before install this stock firmware unlock your phone bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=67027842
This is a new Stock ROM, based on new SM-N915V N915VVZW2CQI3 firmware. If you install this firmware by ODIN, your SM-N915V phone firmware will be latest N915VVZW2CQI3 and you will not loose developer edition unlocked bootloader.
Step 1: download and install this stock firmware https://mega.nz/#!knRXxSCZ!3mwUAi0FXpGN-E0zPjBqx5Hf_YLSK8Ror8VQH5JiE54

How do I sign an MD5 file for Odin?

Hello,
I have been trying to install Android 11 on my phone (Galaxy S9 SM-G960U1) for a while. I have realized that in order to flash new firmware onto my phone, it must be signed or the bootloader won't accept it. When I flash non-signed custom firmware, Odin returns an error about authorization.
Only OEMs/Carriers sign Stock ROMs / OTAs provided by them. ODIN works with Stock ROMs only.
To flash a Custom ROM you need TWRP or similar.

I cannot use TWRP without rooting my phone, which will take some time. I will use the Extreme Syndicate method (https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...pment/root-t4041815/post81608559#post81608559) to root my phone, then install TWRP.

I tried using TWRP, but I got the error:
Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support. Please note that repair/return for this issue may have additional cost.

Do I need to flash stock firmware for S7 Edge SM-G935F first, or can I just flash TWRP?

Basically, I've searched for this question but no concrete answer to be found. I am following a rooting tutorial and it says to flash stock firmware through Odin and then flash TWRP.
I have found the stock firmware for my country (Android 8), but other cell carrier than mine, and the phone is currently running Android 9.
Can I just flash TWRP without flashing a stock firmware beforehand, or is it necessary to flash a stock firmware first, and if so, what about the different carrier and a previous Android version?

Before flashing TWRP, it is a good idea to flash the latest firmware to get the latest version of the modem, which will be useful for use with custom ROM.
Carefully read the TWRP flashing instructions so there are no surprises.
If you don't want to change the original firmware, then flash TWRP.
beware, latest firmware may bring new security updates such as vaultkeeper or RMM protection to your device.
you can flash different CSC with modded Odin (not recommended) but you can't downgrade bootloader.
use Samloader or Bifrost to download from official Samsung server for your region.
