Hello,
I've recently gotten an Amazon Fire 7 (7th Gen) and I'd like to root it or install a custom rom. However, I don't know how I would revert it to stock if I did so. Does anyone know where I can find the stock rom for the fire 7 2017? I have the original untampered device if that helps.
(Sorry if this has been asked before, I've searched and couldn't find an answer)
Thanks,
John

I realize this is an older post, as I have this device also and was browsing threads to get Google Play files for it.
To date, there is no known rooting strategy for this device, and its bootloader cannot be unlocked. Custom ROMs will not be possible until an exploit is found for the bootloader.

Hi! Fairly new to downloading custom ROMs onto devices, just got the Viper ROM for my htc one m8, was wondering if there are any ROMs out there for the kindle fire hdx 8.9. I have been searching high and low and can seem to find anything, just ROMs for older versions. I have my device rooted already with towelroot. I also have SuperSU and Safestrap already setup on it as well.
Also wanted to know if I should leave Safestrap on my Kindle for now if there isn't any ROM that works well with the new update? Because I've read that some people are having problems with Safestrap and that their tablets are bricking.
I have version 14.3.2.6
well

to answer your question no I do not believe there are any actual custom ROMs for the latest firmware I mean seriously I think it just came out this week you may be able to check out adding gapps but use it was safestrap and use it properly there is no rolling back from that software I believe towelroot still works. I'm not sure of safestrap you will have to go and read the safestrap thread for I am not on that new firmware. Best advice is to just get to reading and that is the only way you're going to understand enough about this device not to turn it into a paper weight. The only way you really break this device is if you miss use using safestrap or doing something else that is ill advised or not advised that all ... There is just too much information and too many ways to Brick and to describe in your thread here.. The responsibility is yours to do your research and their are specific procedures that you want to read thoroughly and understand. Or as of even right now I do not believe there is a brick rescue for this device yet.
My brother has a KFHDX 7", we got it last November-December, and I rooted it nearly instantly. It is in version 13.3.2.6 and I must have blocked OTA updates since it is still there. Back then I had tried to install gapps, the playstore etc, but I couldn't find a working method yet.
What I'm looking for is this:
- a way to downgrade the Amazon OS (if necessary)
- a custom recovery to install
- a tutorial to unbrick the tablet in case I brick it
- a way to install the GApps and make them work
- a list of custom roms available for the device. (It's name is "Thor", right? I couldn't find many) Aren't there any of the mainstream roms such as CM for it?
I have a KFHD 7" (2012 model) and I have flashed a custom rom so if I am given instructions I know how to make it work more or less, but I've been having some issues figuring out what is what in XDA in the KFHDX's section.
Thanks for taking the time to read this (and perhaps help me out)!
Hey guys, I know I am new but I need help. I am thinking about rooting my Kindle Fire hdx 7" 3rd generation fire os 4.5.2. But I dont know what to use. I would like it computerless. And if I brick my device I want to know how I can restore from my backup (I use a mac). So can someone help
No Root for 4.x, so you can stop thinking about
I thought there was a root. (vroot and towlroot)
Not for 4.x, only way u can root kindles with those is to reach out to customer support and bs them into rolling back to the older 3.x firmware. search the forums for what to say, etc.
Hi everybody! I've just bought this tablet in Amazon Warehouse and I don't like Fire OS. I searched a lot for a CM but I saw only a CM11 with no camera function. Why other model (like Tate) have more ROMs?
Best bet imo is to stick with FireOS, root it and install gapps and your launcher of choice, disable the stock launcher and any of the stock apps you don't want, and you end up with a nice little Lollipop tablet.
Yes I think so but for root my Ariel with Lollipop where is the guide? Because I'm a newbie and I saw only root for KK.
Yep, unfortunately you need to downgrade, root, then upgrade again to get a rooted Lollipop on this device. There's a decent guide at https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/how-to-upgrade-to-lollipop-root-gapps-t3163950
I have an HDX 7 Thor that I haven't touched in a long time. I lost it while traveling and just found it! It's outdated, currently running a late 2016 build of 4.4.4 cm11. I want to get it up to date but not sure how to start, should I go back to stock and then follow a guide to get it bootloader unlocked or is there a way to get it all from here? I know about the 1 click tool, but will that work from where I am now?
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to help. I know that this is an older device but I just want it to read manga and watch YouTube so it will be perfect if I can get it up to date.

No need to roll back or uninstall. 1-click or this method will work fine. Fair bit of effort getting to the point being able to install a newer ROM (most likely Lineage 14.1). I would go with 1-click assuming prerequisites are satisfied. Good luck.
