Battery backup without root - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

Hello! I don't know if there's any post about it. Until now, I didn't root it my Le Max 2 X829, and I want to ask you, is there any way to improve the battery performance without root?
My use with the device is kind of normal, I do some research on history so I use the 21mp camera a lot and consume very much. I'm using Brave Browser instead of Chrome and Stock, and it consume less. And I installed blackberry hub (services began to use a little more battery in the last days).
In other aspects, I have active auto brightness and battery saving when I'm not using it.
With all that, without any charge the device can last until 1 day and 15/18 hours, is that good? is there any way to improve it? Would be nice to hear some opinions

it's ok?

no one have the phone without root?

Heyyo, in theory you can have better battery life with root as you can use greenify with root permissions to better handle hibernating apps.
So yeah, if you root? I highly recommend you use greenify and give it root permissions for the best battery life possible.
I tend not to root LineageOS as I can logcat via PC and use ADB for my root needs in most cases.

going to glastonbury. need a nice long life rom for hero.

hey all.
im off to glasto soon and was gonna load up the hero with a nice long battery life rom - anyone know a good one?
also, is there somewhere with a general list of stuff to make it last longer - i guess a 1 press widget to stop all data would be ideal? anything else? an auto task killer maybe?
i will be able to charge it occasionally at a mates caravan but i'd like to do that as little as pos.

I'm still using 42turkey's rooted repack of the Taiwan official GSM Hero 2.1.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694786
Everything works on it, and since it has Sense UI, there is a widget for Mobile data on/off.
Battery life seems great on this rom as well.
The ONLY thing that does not work well is the handwriting input method, as it is Chinese (the rest of the phone can be set to 100% all english though).
Lucky bugger!!!...
If I was you i'd flash MCR3.2. The most stable 1.5 ROM. Then underclock the standby.
I've heard people recommend Juice Defender but haven't tried it myself.

I would reccomend Cronos Droid 1.7.1 and then set the clock speed to standard 528Mhz (518Mhz) set the low freq at 246Mhz I think it is and the mess a little around in SetCPU like setting the sleep freq at max 480MHz and underclocking it when the battery runs low Last of all Cronos Droid is the best ROM performance wise, stable wise (if you can say that) and in my expiriences also battery wise and It's just the best if you aren't trying to find a ROM you can theme etc.
just buy those cheap portable batt chargers that use a single AA batt and u'll never run out of power as long as u can buy AA batts. It won't charge your phone very much but it will certainly keep the phone at a constant level.
awesome cheers all - im having a look at the ones detailed, will definatelylook into the overclocking thing.
and the aa battery thing....i think i've got one of them already for my mp3 player! never made the link that the phone could use it too. super!
cheers again, off to pack
There's a ninpo kernel on Villain10.3, which has some optional battery optimisations. I can't really gauge it against other ROMs as I haven't tested it like that, but adding autokiller and keeping the phone underclocked to the stock speed via SetCPU. I also run mine at 19MHz in sleep mode, but be aware not all heros are compatible with this, and yours might not wake up properly at 19MHz. Try it and see

Am I using the best tools for the specific tasks I require?

I currently have a ASUS Transformer TF101 and am soon to get a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. I have rooted the TF101 and am running a custom ROM and Kernel (TEAMEOS 4 and KAT Kernel) and will be rooting the Note once it is in my hands.
My question is regarding the apps I use to improve the Android experience and whether I'm using the right tools for the job or if there is something I could be doing better or in addition?
Overclocking.
I'm using SetCPU. Overclocking the general usage a little, with 3 profiles. standard clock speed at 25% (priority 80). underclock at 15% (priority 90). and minum CPU speed with screen off (priority 100). SmartAssV2 Governor and noop scheduler.
RAM managment
I'm just leaving that to do its own thing as I dont think any additional app I add will improve performance.
Back up
Titanium Backup
Recovery
Currently using TWRP with my TF101
Storage
Both of my devices only have 16GB internal storage. I still wish to be able to hot swap my microSD cards though so am planning on using FolderMount in order to do this and making sure I dont access the mounted apps while an alternate microSD card is inserted.
Im also using DiskUsage to help identify and delete files on my device that arent required.
To explore and move my files I'm using ES File explorer.
Battery Saving
As I've already set the CPU speeds with SetCPU, the only additional app im using to help reduce battery usage is Auto Airplane mode.
I'm still quite the android novice so any suggestions of things I can do to improve my experience are welcomed.
Thanks
No takers on this then?
Any advice on battery saving apps and if they are worth it. The guy next to me at work swears by juice defender, but im skeptical that it would give me any benefits
in my opinion i dont think juice defender saves that much of batter , it just turns wifi and other things automatically which u can do manually..

Thats what I thought.. Appreciate the second opinion though. I'm always looking for things to tweek and improve
after a little more research, it seems wakelock and greenify might give me genuine battery life increase...

[Q] reccomended Rom, kernel, mod or configuration for best battery life

hello everybody
the question is simple..... i have a E790 and i want a Rom, kernel, mod or configuration for best battery life... any suggestions?
Slick V3 plus MEs kernel. Lower min clock speed and use badass governor. I've never had anything better. I'm currently using MEs EG8 ROM, which I like better, but battery life is slightly less then when I used Slick.

Best configuration for extended battery life = power off when not in active use.
Not trying to be a jerk here, but while stating that question is simple, the answer most certainly isn't. There are a huge number of factors that play into battery life, and you haven't provided any info at all to us to provide good answer.
The answer depends on how you use the device. Do you need extended idle time but not high performance? underclock, undervolt, freeze all your background apps. Do you have lots of stuff running in the background? Try greenify paid with xposed features. Do you want the most possible screen on time? drop your brightness as low as you can stand it. Run in Airplane mode. Are you in a crappy service area? Turn off cell radio and use Wifi only.
We don't know what you need for connectivity, or how you use the device, or what apps you run, or anything else. We need tons more info to try to chase battery life. We don't know what will constitute "acceptable" performance, to you, when down-tuning processor speeds and brightness and things. These are all things you need to experiment with to find what works best for you.
In general, I've found that for my use-case, the new 4.3 ROMs are marginally better on battery life than prior versions. I typically get about 4 hours screen on time, with around 20 hours up-time, and minimal phone calls (15min per day or so) and end up having 15-20% battery left when I put the phone on the charger. In moderate use, I look for wakelocks to be roughly twice my screen on time. I don't run much processor intensive stuff, the majority of my awake time is spent at minimum clock speed.
Min screen brightness

Min screen brightness, lower timeout, eco mode, task killer, data off and airplane mode at the office (or school or whenever you use "silent mode" instead)

Be very careful with task killers. If you try to kill stuff that auto restarts, you will end up causing battery draining start / kill loops. In general task killers haven't been necessary since gingerbread.

As stated before, the 4.3 roms seem to have better battery life then the previous versions.
Certain apps can help with battery life as well. "Tasker" can be setup to disable functions when not needed.
"SetCPU" can be used to setup profiles to change min/max frequencies and change governors when certain conditions are met... this can also be done with Tasker but requires a good understanding of Tasker functions.
"Greenify" is also a good app. It will hibernate apps that you choose. This can prevent certain apps from running in the backround until you actually use them.
Turn off animations
Turn off animations and transitions, keep the minimum amount of widgets and location services from social apps
Kernel Confusion
Dear Concern,
m using AT&T LG Optimus G (e970), i just rooted my phone and unlocked my bootloader. the confusion m having ritenow is
m about to install the new custom rom in my phone but m confused about the kernel thing that ppl used to talk here .. my current software information is
Android Version :: 4.1.2
Kernel Version ::: 3.4.0
Software Version : E97020J
Can anyone guide me if i need to flash kernel while installing the custom roms *4.4.2*, and what are the risks?
is it necessary to flash kernel or not ??
Regards.
Moiz
Its not necessary to flash separate kernel..custom ROMs come with embedded kernels sometimes modified from existing kernels, such as mizry's AK kernel...flashing separate kernels are optional

Underclocking Z3v

Anyone know if ROM Toolbox Pro will work for underclocking the Z3v? Also what settings would one recommend that would help increase battery life, decrease heat, without compromising performance too much? Thanks in advance.

I posted the exact same thing on my thread about battery saving tips with root. I use Trickster ROM though.
Use to use SetCPU and had good luck with it don't know if it is still maintained, of course used it to overclock not underclock but it can do that too.

Oh the days of overclocking! Processors are fast enough these days. No sense heating up the phone, killing the battery, & no need for the extra speed like in the days of the OG Droid. No need to slow it down though either, but I guess it would be nice to have extra battery life & a colder phone.
Haven't used SetCPU in a long time. I know it didn't work with my Droid2 & I had to switch to a different app. Always wanted to play with the one in ROM Toolbox guess it is time to start. Hell I paid for the app let's do it right?

App receivers and battery life??

I have a Galaxy S5 but I think this is a general question. I've modded and tweaked my cell phones for several years, but I know next to nothing about what I'm doing. That's why I do a LOT of research BEFORE doing anything. There's a lot of bloatware and unnecessary stuff floating around in the android system. I'm trying to reduce battery drain and speed up boot and processing speed.
The first problem I run into is trying to find anything about different software, components, and processes. I don't want to remove something and brick my phone or make it worse.
I'm running ROM Toolbox Lite using the Auto Start Manager.
Question: What is the relationship of app receivers and processing speed and battery life?
I'm considering turning off all receivers that start with bootup on programs I seldom use and don't want active until I start them.
1. Will those receivers ALL turn on when I decide to start a specific app? (That's what I'm hoping for)
2. How will this affect my speed, memory usage, and boot time?
From others experiences is it worth getting the PRO version?
