For many years now I've had a Tasker profile set up on my phone to enable the NFC radio only when I launch apps that use it (Android pay primarily), and to then turn it off once I'm done using those apps.
I'd like to do the same on my Huawei Watch 2, but in my searching I have yet to find any ways to do this.
Has anyone come across a way to have the NFC radio on a watch toggled by the opening or closing of an app?
Did you find a method yet?

Is it possible to program a NFC tag to disable security on our phones? I'm thinking it's a no but it would be nice to be able to walk into my house, tap the tag and never have to put in my pattern. Then when I leave tap it again to turn in on to keep my friends out or anyone if I lost it.
It doesn't seem like the Samsung NFC app or NFC Task Launcher can do this.

My guess is it would have to be an application that has root privileges in order to accomplish this. COuld be an interesting use for NFC. I used to use an application in my PC that would listen for my Phone's B to pair with my desktop and unlock/lock my PC. I specifically used to as an automatic way to lock my desktop when I walked away from my desk with my phone.
BUMP!
This seems like a great idea. Try PhoneWeaver. I use it to do alot of those things. Its more of a profile changer
I used to use Unlock with WIFI however it says I can't use a pattern lock anymore since the last update and doesn't seem to play well with ICS either. I'll take a look at that Phone Weaver though.
Yes, I did google and search on XDA, but couldn't find an answer.
I'm looking at com.htc.autobot.cargps.provider I've seen it pop up on my battery monitoring apps, and I'm still not sure what it's for. It shows up on days I don't even use the car app or anything like that.

Autobot is a car gps tracker. Sounds like you have an app loaded that instantly tracks your movements. Like your gps share is enabled on your phone or something like that. Open navigation, and check to see if your location sharing is enabled. If it is turn it off. Also see if you have your phone connected to your car security or home security systems. These types of apps also have gps automated functions.
Can anyone suggest a simple app, for rooted, to set the date and time? Something similar to the the option you normally find in the Settings.

I con't post links but search on Google Play for ClockSync by Sergey Baranov. It was really good back when I had my Nexus S.
Thanks. I've actually had a look before on this one, but it can't be used to manually set the date/time. Only automatically after getting the info from the internet.
I just started learning about tasker and NFC but I'm wondering if tasker is worth it for an unrooted Note 4 or if most tasks would be impossible?

yes most tasks it´s impossible, but you can create awesome tasks whitout root, it´s a great app.
With regards to NFC, automation is impossible.
You cannot disable samsungs tag app without root, so you will constantly be asked to choose which app you want to perform the action.

Tasker is on many "must have" lists but be aware it is not a simple thing to set up. That said, there is a ton of stuff you can do without root.
Common examples:
Turn off PIN while at home and WiFi connected (this used to require root on older phones apparently, but not on the N4).
Change sound settings for night time operation.
Activate driving mode and other settings when connected to car bluetooth.
Search YouTube for Tasker. There are also some great threads around about it.

Tasker is geat.
You can do a lot stuff without having your note 4 rooted. While you get a little familiar with how tasker works you'll be able to do very cool stuff with it. So yes! It's worth each penny, even if you're unrooted!
Cheers
Hello. I just have a question that I have been unable to find an answer to. I have found apps which can disable persistent notifications and such and I know how to disable notifications from downloaded apps. However, is there any way to disable notifications that Samsung doesn't allow you to disable by default. I have the AT&T version of the S9+ in case that makes any difference.
Notifications such as?
All apps, barring a few, can be blocked from displaying notifications using native Android settings, without needing any app.
Hmmm. I didn't know that. I guess the ones that I've tried to disable must be the ones Android doesn't want you to, such as certain system UI or Samsung cloud notifications just as two examples. Any known way to disable those, without root.

Try the app "AutoNotifications" on the app store. I used that to get rid of the Gear connection notification which can't be otherwise blocked.
You'll want notification blocking. It's not a paid feature.
Sweet! Seems to be just what I needed. Thank you.
