Rn3 SD rom help - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi there, i've a rn3 (snapdragon, 3Gb ram) and I'm currently using MIUI but I'd like to try some new roms also to try fixing a WiFi signal issue. I need your help since I'm not very informed about them [emoji28]. I'm looking for a stable, quite frequently updated and quite customizable *rom with a good battery usage (now on miui I'm around 1.5-2 days of usage). Is it better to chose nuogat or Oreo based ones? Can you suggest me some roms and maybe also kernels to try?
Thanks in advantage

Frequent updates: Oreo roms (as nougat roms somehow don't get updated anymore)
Good Battery usage: Nougat roms (not sure about oreo roms. I'm getting 8h SOT on ABC oreo tho)
Stability: Nougat roms
Customization: Any rom will do I think. Yet Resurrection Remix, NOS and AEX are known to have good customization options (on both android versions)
Now make up your mind

Just go for Nitrogen OS 8.1 oreo. Best in Performance, Best in SOT. and awesome rom for Daily driver.

which build man?

Most, if not all Oreo ROMs drain battery when idle. Sure, they can make good SOT on intense day to day usage, but if you use one battery charge for 1.5 days or more, you probably won't find Oreo builds practical because of the bad standby battery usage.

In matter of this, they're fine. You can go with the one packed with the features you prefer. I've been satisfied with official Lineage. I also have the impression AOSP Extended 5.5 has good reputation and I'm going to try it right now.

Alarm and wakelock blockers are your friends.

Can you guys help me pick some stable rom nougat? I have Keto RN3 Pro SE version and many only say it is for Kenzo. I play only WaO and other light using. Thank you

Obeviously The latest build man 17/05/2018 OReo build.

I'm a Kenzo noob so I cannot give you much in the way of advice, although that said, Resurrection Remix and AOSPExtended are great on the customisation front, but LineageOS and Pixel Experience are the best bet in terms of just getting your phone up and running on a custom firmware front, with the latter having the advantage of not requiring a separate Google Apps package as it is built into the firmware.
I'm currently rocking the Pixel Experience Oreo firmware, and battery life averages around 8-10 hours on frequent YouTube/Spotify/Chrome/Opera use, which is better than the LG G4, another device I own as of the time of writing, which is neck-and-neck with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 in terms of performance.

Battery stats MIUI vs CM13 (RN3P)

Can someone tell me why on CM13 or any CM13 based rom is about 10h left of battery on 100% when on MIUI is about 3 days? People said that SOT is similar on both. (8-10h)
CM13 count it in different way?
Thank's

because battery stats on mobile are basically rubbish. Just gauge it based on your own usage. so many things will vary the stats, network strength, screen brightness, vibration strength etc.
Generally I find the battery lasts longer on debloated miui roms, but YMMV
Too big difference. 10h vs 3 days (72h), no way, need to be something more.

Well both are wild guess, on MIUI it is overestimation by OEM, while on CM it just a guess based on battery capacity and current draw. They'll get more accurate overtime, I'd say you need to use it for at least two weeks with normal usage, they'll be more similiar.

Same here for me.
about 2-3 days with stock miui
then only 10 hours with ResurrectionRemix which have issue with the processor.
I will try CM 12.1 by nahz if it's better or going back to stock rom

the screen on time has been reported to be about the same
the thing OP is complaining about is the estimated stats reported by the various OSes

Best rom & kernel

I need the best combo of rom and kernel ! recently got back into the android game after having an s3 and then switching to a 6s plus now I'm back, with the oneplus two
I need help on choosing the rom and kernel, would prefer for the rom to be stable and the kernel to give me great battery life
right now I'm on aospa 6.0.1 it's alright
I was so excited to get back into roms and android that I didn't even last 3 hours on oxygenOS
OOS3 is actually pretty decent. Especially if you get a ROM that is a modified version of OOS like Oxydium. Exodus is also another good choice for speed, battery, and reliability. So far though, in my experience, it's pretty hard to go wrong with any of the ROMs available for the OP2 though. CM based ROMs have seemed to not get quite as good battery as OOS based or Exodus for me, but they have more features of course. Good luck on your search!
Official cm13 with boeffla kernel is my default setup. But using aospa and resurrection remix (benschold kernel) once in a while )
Waiting to see more features in aospa

I think the best rom at the moment is Oxydium
Good battery, Android N-designed, great performance and no heating

I'm thinking of trying Oxydium
The bad part of oxydium, is not upgraded to the ota release. Happy user of cm13 unofficial, as daily.

The battery life is good, better than cm13, 4-5h sot
Now i'm using PA and it's more smooth than oxydium but camera is not as good as oxydium.
So far mm ROMs are still buggy and things are getting a lot better but the best ROM at least for me was VisionX but its a lollipop ROM

Latest
6h / 7h is achievable
Mostly i have 2 days of standby with 4,5 / 5h sot
Last couple of days I'm thinking about switching from OOS3 based back to CM13 or AOSP or PA. So I'm going through threads and I'm kinda shocked to see how most of them are now plagued by bugs which seem to have nothing to do with our devs, but it seems like they are getting that from sources, CyanogenMod mostly. Also, I don't remember any problems from couple of weeks (months?) ago! Like no notifications (dead silent phone), alert slider not working, echo in conversations, problems with camera, heavy on battery... before I had excellent battery life, notification and slider worked better than in OOS3, ROM was better with each version... any thoughts on that?
hi,
AOKP + Boeffla Kernel at the BEST! :good:
All ROMs and every kernel is best:good:

Can easily confirm, Resurrection Remix has given me much better battery life than OOS3 with my usage. Constant 5h SOT on LTE, 6+ on WiFi
CM13 Unofficial by Seraph08 + Boeffla Kernel works pretty well for me. I get a Standby time of almost 30 hours and SOT of over 4 hours. I used to barely manage 3 hours SOT earlier with OOS3.

I have been wondering the exact same thing.. I flashed PA June and it's been o.k. but has some issue with speaker / mic that weren't present in other MM rom's I've tried..
I went to Exodus. Feels great, works great, but with Trebuchet launcher as AOSP is very limited. I could recommend it easily

Recommend rom

Good afternoon all the roms that I try to get me between 4 or 4 and a half hours of battery.
Could you recommend some oreo or pie rom that had a longer battery life?
Thanks[emoji3578][emoji3578]

Could someone also suggest the ROM + Kernel + battery screenshots... that'd be helpful.

Tried oreo and pie roms same sot and no benefits to going on pie or oreo so i back to Aex 7.1.2
Currently using MIUI 10 Oreo sGSI with Agni Kernel.
Screen time around 5:30 hours, no bugs affecting my experience at all (only screen flickering when changing screen brightness
Tried MIUIPro Mixmod right before this and had around 6h of screen on time, just changed to Oreo because I use the Google camera a lot.

[Guide] Best Battery Backup roms for MI5

Updated: 9/17/2019
After trying almost every roms from mm to pie.
i come to this conclusion.
For pie aosp rom i recommend mokee rom because its quite stable, good backup, and frequent updates, overall great for daily driver.
https://download.mokeedev.com/gemini.html
For miui, i recommended, miroom roms, latest stable (10.2.1.0) , good on battery, latest with loads of miui features.
http://portal.mi-room.ru/roms/
If you dont care for android versions and security update, i highly recommend, mui 8.1.4.0 mm global stable rom, its amazingly fast, stable and best of battery, its underclocked offical rom, so phone doesnt get heated much.
http://bigota.d.miui.com/V8.1.4.0.MAAMIDI/miui_MI5Global_V8.1.4.0.MAAMIDI_fc3bbcd638_6.0.zip
for aosp, i recommend JDC 7.1 older version you will get best battery on this rom. (sorry its not uploaded elsewhere, if someone can upload it, i am happy to update link of it)
https://pan.baidu.com/s/1i49CS4X?fid=129016299064932
if you looking for good battery balance with speed, i recommend AEX-Mod-v5.8-gemini oreo by dennyspb.

i needed such a post thx :d i will try.
its all about battery...difference in roms maybe 1 hour SOT with less optimized roms...android 9 get best SOT then miui 10..first of all try accubattery..5 charges and you will get an idea of your battery life overall..mine from 3000mAh default only has 2000mAh..wich gives me less 2 hours SOT than normal..so i will get 3 hours more or less..that usually we get 5-6 hours SOT on MI 5 without any tweaks..just stock settings..
get a new battery, its my answer..

It will be very hard to get a genuine Xiaomi battery in AliExpress or eBay despicte what they claim, most of them are counterfeit.
I bought a NOHON battery for 10~12 USD and it works very well. This brand is one of the most recommended in AliExpress.

Best battery optimized rom?

Hello, so far i have tried pixel experience rom and despite battery last is not bad i feel miui made a great job allowing to restrict app energy almost completely with greats battery times. What is your opinion in choosing a rom mainly based on battery time?
PE is the best. Stay on PE
PE is worst ...miui rocks
I think that its's not the rom, it's the kernel. And the daily usage.
And the amount of background-activity apps.
The roms differences are in the level of customization and how frequently they are updated.
Mine for example is AOSiP. But PE and Syberia Project are good too... Also Havoc and Arrow... There are many...
I've tried a few myself, but I keep coming back to RR. It has very decent battery consumption out the box and has an array of tweaks to improve things.
With moderate usage I get a little more than 3 days out of a charge.

For me RR is best. Had been using this Rom for years on many phones in my family.
Tested other roms in between but for me no Rom matched RR.
