Now that android dual sim phones are coming, can one of the greater modders make a dual sim dialer for us. That is a dialer that will prompt you to select sim 1 or 2 before dialing. Thanks in advance.
Won't these phones come with a dialer thats does that ?
DW contacts & dialer works just fine. Though, I would have wanted the Sim 1/2 icons integrated into the UI instead of having a popup screen for calls.
Go Sms works fine for dual sims.
Request help for Google Voice to work in dual SIM Android
I am working on a dual SIM android PCBA.
The Android dialer is made to operate the dual SIM and SIM standby mode.
However, in this Android OS the dual SIM function block the other WiFi telephone dialing functions, such as Google Voice and Skype.
Is there any advice on where to stand to unblock this to allow outgoing WiFi phone dialing to calls?
Thank you.
That already exists on every mediatek based dualsim phone...

True. I have one since a week.
But the annoying thing is that SIM Contact Binding doesn't work properly.
When I have binded a contact to a SIM and I choose to call this person, it will still ask me to choose which SIM to use.
Then what is the contact binding for in the first place???
Hi folks,
I tried to use true phone https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hb.dialer.free instead of the stock app, but I can not make calls with second sim. When I swap sims in the stock dialer then I can make calls with the second sim only. So I am just wondering if anyone had solved similar issue? Or maybe there is another great dialer working with honor 8 well. I have newest update B389 so android 7.0 and emui 5.0. Thanks for your opinion!
Hi
I use Pixel Phone without problems. Its free....
Greetings
Use True Phone dialer and have no issues whatsoever. Both SIMs work flawlessly.
As detailed here (rebuild url by removing spaces);
www. reddit. com/r/Huawei/comments/9w5vwc/huawei_mate_20_pro_android_auto_dialer_bug
It seems the bug stemmed from a missing Voicemail Option settings on the current version (126 and previous ?) of the EMUI.
Looking at my Mate 20 Pro, the Voicemail settings cant be found.
Thus from Android Auto app, an attempt to read the System Voicemail setting will cause program to throw an EXCEPTION error. Now, how do we fix this ?
Disable permissions for contacts and call log worked for me as a temporary fix.
I'm confused as if I press and Hold 1 from the dialler it connects me to my Carriers Voicemail as expected, and that's not something I manually configured.
NB haven't tested with Android Auto as I don't use it
NB I can also reconfigure by going to Call Settings| More| VoiceMail Where there are 4 options
Service Provider : Configured as "My Network Provider"
Voicemail number : configured as "901"
Notification Sound : Select
Vibrate On/Off
O2 UK provided M20P on .122 FW
Edit Add: Just installed Android Auto and starts , runs & seems to work as expected
NB also noticed you referred to the .126 FW which some peeps seem to be getting instead of .122

You are lucky Your version of the firmware provide Voicemail options. I tried looking for mine via press and Hold 1 on the Phone Dialer and viola -- No Voicemail settings i can set to . I also tried to look for it via search on the Android Settings Menu and there is none. Is it a telco activated option or is it because we have a different version of the firmware ?
Also, i did that "remove all the SIM cards" thingy to test if Android Auto will not crash when the dialer is clicked - viola -- Android Auto did not crash.
Now, how do i get Voicemail activated on my side ? hmmm
ok, here is my not so great Android Auto Dialer Bug QUICK FIX
I used TWO (2) SIM cards, 1st one is a Data Only SIM card with no Telephony service placed at slot1 of the Mate 20 Pro. 2nd one is my primary telephony sim card attached in Slot #2.
Settings:
All Data Access on Sim Card 1
Telephone Calls default on Sim Card 2
I discovered that Android Auto will always check which sim card with internet settings and will attempt to get telephony settings from there and since there is no telephony service on Simcard 1, Android Auto will skip the Voicemail setting retrieval and will proceed to display the dialer
From there, i can now initiate the call via Sim Card 2

From your other post I see you have a dual SIM version, maybe that explains the FW version difference.
Question :
Was your phone :
a) bought SIM Free Outright
b) Carrier/Telco provided with contract
If a) then I would have expected it to have all the options avaialble and be unrestricted.
if b) then it may be that your carrier/telco has deactivated some settings to make you pay extra for features.
Do you have Voicemail with your carrier ?

Bought it SIM Free.
I think the telco provider has disabled it but my previous phone which is a Huawei P10 (transitioned to Mate 20 pro a week ago) has Voicemail settings in it
UPDATE:
I recently got a PATCH update from Huawei for Mate 20 Pro FW .126 Patch 02 and VoiceMail options are there and Android Auto Dial Bug is now FIXED
Also, i dont have to remove call log and contact permissions from AA. It is now working as expected
Okay guys, this is an error due to the way the firmware is installed. It all comes down to the carriers and their software. Using the M20 pro on vodafone, AA crashes, doesn’t even start. I’m returning that phone and going with EE, and i forgot AA crashes, tried it just now and it works fine. It’s all to do with the default voicemail setting the carriers have. Also making a voicemail request by holding 1 may work for people having the crash.
Deleted VM no and re added works perfectly now
Happy user!!!
Which means previous versions of the EMUI tend to be buggy on the Voicemail settings. Either a reset of VM for those with the settings available and a f/w upgrade for those without VM options on their phone.

I just tried this and it also appears to be working when opening AA on the phone and going to dialler, just have to try in the car now and fingers crossed it will work.
*edit*
Just tried it in the car and all good also. Who needs the patch lol
Hi,
i've been using this phone for the past month (CN Version, Currently on 21) or so and so far I encountered the following problems:
1. Cannot Change the Default Messaging app.
2. Cannot set google as the default assistant
3. Cannot get VOLTE and Vowifi to work for me (Briefly had Xiaomi and used the code to force it to work).
4. Auto brightness keeps screwing up.
5. Cannot disable the market app
if anyone can help, that would be great.
And alot of missed things:
Missing "Choose date format" option. We are locked on american format, month/day/year.
Missing pocket mode.
Missing DeepTool for Android 11 to unlock bootloader. Speaking with support via mail, the answer is:
"Thank you for writing to us, we would like to inform you that
Bootloader unlock support is not yet available for Android 11, please stay tuned over official community."
Edge lighting is limited to 2 warnings. Need that option to be unlimited, until you see the notification. Like led notification before.
Missing "Vibration pattern" on calls.
Missing option to change sim in dialer if you choose a prefered sim. Prefered, not mandatory. If you want to call somebody with the second sim after you set prefered sim, you need to change that to the second sim to call. Too complicated.
Missing contacts manager option. So, you don't have posibility to import/export contacts, to hide contacts without number, to sort contacts in different ways, to merge contacts with same number, to choose what contacts to display(from phone, from witch google account, from sim, etc).
Missing navigation bar customization. To choose whats is happening if you press home twice, or if you press long on back button etc.
Missing option to return call and same sim you get the call.
For me it's not acceptable to launch a phone without posibility to unlock the phone(bootloader, recovery, root) for power users. Now, for me, realme GT it's a beast in a cage. And tied with chains by realme staff.

Seems far too many issues to be able to love this device.
I don't believe Realme software developers intend to tie anything, it's not logical to hinderi purchasers on purpose.
Realme deveopers are simply inadequate and require more time as many bugs were most probably unknown prior to roll out of the device.
....and by the time this Realme can function perfectly, it'll be time for upgrade due to end of the 3 years security support.
Hey. Bought my phone yesterday on Amazon sold/sent by Amazon (Poco F3 died in water).
I don't know why but my phone was already with developer options unlocked. Is it normal?
Besides that, the phone gives a pretty good feeling except a few bugs of ui here and there (full screen gesture often bring me back stock launcher for example.. Same was for the poco) and that I don't see any custom roms/twrp compared to poco F3.
Also noticed that I can't add French dictionary on top of English (set my phone in English) and on whatsapp I have words with underline when I write in French hum.
edit: returned my phone and sticking with my S10e.
I have used a number of dual-SIM devices in the past, although none ever from Samsung until now. They have all been Dual-SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) implementations. Those significantly older devices though has a lot more control over how the two SIM's worked together and for different functions. The s23 Ultra almost seems like a step backwards in terms of a decade by comparison for dual-SIM implementation. The s23 Ultra only allows me to set a primary SIM. It doesn't ask which SIM I want to call from and just assumes I want to call from the primary SIM. With texts, MMS messages don't download from the non-primary SIM unless I manually switch the primary SIM to the other SIM. Is there something I am missing or just not familiar with how to setup a Samsung device for ideal dual-SIM use? My OnePlus 8T and Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 were vastly more advanced in their dual-SIM implementations.
Idk why you're not getting texts on non primary but I have 1esim and 1psim and I get texts for both and even send from both within seconds of each other. 1 work line, 1 personal line, I use Textra and it has an option built into the text box that lets me switch which sim I send from.

Regular texts are fine. It's with MMS that don't and won't come through unless I switch the primary SIM to the SIM with a pending MMS. I can't send an MMS from the non-primary SIM either. I have to switch the primary SIM to the other SIM.

Are you using Google messages app for texting? If so rcs might be your issue, the limited time I did use Google messages and used rcs it was buggy as all get out. I was getting regular messages days later instead of instantly, MMS would just have a button that says couldn't download and I'd have to tap that to receive MMS (which most of the time for me is group chats so then everything is out of order)
this was my problem on my old zfold3 so I switched to Textra back then (and still use now) and it doesn't use rcs (because Google hasn't released public API for it and only works with their app) and haven't had anymore issues with texts, MMS, or dual sims
I do use Google Messages but I have RCS disabled and RCS has never been enabled on my s23 Ultra. I still receive the "Tap to download" on the non-primary SIM and "Can't send message" when sending an MMS from the non-primary SIM.
I haven't used Extra in ages. The lack of customization has me favoring Pulse when using something other than Google Messages. I will give Pulse a try and see if that makes any difference.

I would just try a different text app to see if that solves it, also maybe resetting your APN settings? Idk
Textra in last couple years has a ton of customization
But I haven't used any other app so idk lol

I will try a few. With Textra, the last time I used it. It lacked the abilitity to set a color for each contact and there was no gradient color options and no HEX color code option.

As for colors you can set per contact now but no hex code though

That's a step in the right direction.
It is definitely a Google Messages issue. Using Pulse, it automatically switches the connection for sending and receiving an MMS message, even when the SIM isn't set at the primary SIM. I really appreciate the help with this, @spart0n! I text a lot and hate having my texts being unreliable in any way.
Thanks, this issue has happened to me a couple times now since my data SIM is my secondary SIM which has to be set to default and was really annoying me.
Its been a Google messages issue for as long as I can remember when using dual sim. If you're not using RCS, then I'd recommend samsung messages or textra for dual messaging. It automatically downloads without having to switch sims. I just enjoy RCS too much to go back to regular sms/mms
