I finish using my phone, I turn off the screen, I put it down and a few seconds later it plays the (quite loud) audio for a probiotic gummy ad. Anyone know what I have to drive a stake through so this never happens again? No indication of anything on the screen or notifications after I picked it back up and looked at it.

Its got to be an app that you installed that did this. My wife had the same issue. After every phone call she would get a loud ad. She messed around for a few days and found out that an app she installed that allows her an easy way to take notes while on the phone. The app would open during the call and then at the end of the call it would play an ad.
No way around it other than to block ads or find a diff program or pay for it if you can to subvert the ads.
Weirdly, I haven't installed any new apps for a while. Must be an "improvement" in an existing app, but which one is the question.

I was at lacrosse practice today and right before practice I was listening to my music on my phone and then I put it away in my bag, after practice I went over to my phone and for some reason it downloaded an APK with a weird and quite long name, I was curious as I did not give it permission to download anything and I clicked the APK and the app was named "Sexy girls"(Lawl.) so I clicked cancel and deleted the APK off my phone, that was really weird though, does anyone else have a similar issue? I even have Lookout enabled and I thought it would be able to stop something like that, do you think I have a virus? After scanning the results came back clean except on AVG where it said my SuperUser app was a virus, which I highly doubt.
Any ideas/comments would be wonderful :]
And before you ask, no I wasn't watching any porn on my phone...
hey everyone I'm having a weird problem with my TP. The speakers on this thing work well for a while but, at random times the sounds and music I play comes out with static. If I reset the tab it goes away or sometimes if I even plug my head phones in and out it goes back to normal but not often. I've even done a tablet reset and ran webOS and it still happens from time to time. I've contacted HP and they just keep telling me its software related so I'm stuck. I'm running the latest version of webOS now. Its not rooted or anything either but I'm considering turning on developer mode to see if it will work but I don't know. Any ideas/suggestions. Thanks guys I appreciate you looking into the matter for me.
Do you mean the sound become distorted? Like muffled? Its happening to me also when the screen turns off. But if I turn on screen, its gets good. Also it happens only if its on highest volume?
sent from cm7ed touchpad
I've had both problems listed above. Booting into WebOS then back to Alpha 3 solved it temporarily. I imagine with CM9 ICS being the major focus now, we will have to live with it for now.
I have noticed that when I am on Pandora with classical it does not pop; only my 80's Techno pop makes the speakers squeal. Maybe the TP is making a comment on my music?

Install prepare and install sound app that restarts the sound drivers, gets rid of the static temporarily. It is software related since the 3.0.4 update.

Yes I meant distorted and it also happens when I use either Pandora or play videos on YouTube. Where can I find that benfikaman?
This app is called PulseAudio Restarter (covered here)
You could also do it manually with xterm :
Code:
pulseaudio --kill
I don't remember if you have to type pulseaudio --start after, but anyway the app does it so you won't need these commands.
I guess then I am going to have to unlock my tab and install preware to get that app first. Thanks guys I'll post my results soon. Oh if I run preware will that void the tablets warranty or something? I'm sure ppl have asked this before but I'm not sure how this works. Thanks guys!

Preware is featured in the official HP catalog, and I've haven't seen any warning about warranty on the webOsInternals Preware page.
If you really need to use your warranty, you'll be able to restore your TP at its original state with webOsDoctor.
You'll see, it's easy to install preware
EDIT : some more infos here, didn't found official link about it.
preware and patches won't void the warrenty. An overclocked kernal could, if applicable

I ran into the same issue this morning with a bad static sound. I ran the pulseaudio restarter app and that did not fix the issue. I also have had times when no audio at all and the pulseaudio app fixed that. A full reboot fixes the static issues but I agree that it is annoying. I haven't moved into Android yet and I'm running an up to date Touchpad.
So far so good for me. Im hoping it works. I have another question-if any of you guys are in yahoo fantasy leagues or have done it before than you may know what I am talking about. With the touchpad I can't use websites like yahoo fantasy or pizza hut. The browser keeps refreshing itself or like in yahoo's case, each time I click on a little note thats supposed to open as a small window on the site it wont do that either. Is there anything that can fix this?
I tried to run same music apps in webos and they were fine. I have sound problem only in android and only when screen is off. Should I try that pulseaudio app?
It won't help, the screen off sound issue is a CM issue, on the android side, this webOS app can't do anything about it. And I doubt that's the same problem, restarting pulseaudio by adb or console in android won't fix it.
hey guys so here's what's up....the speakers worked fine for a few days after running pulse audio but now its back to the same thing. Any other suggestions? Thanks guys!
I have not found this anywhere else, so I finally have to ask.
When I receive a phonecall, the phone rings. I answer the phone, put it to my ear, then suddenly the stock music player starts playing a song. I have to go into the app and pause it every time. When the phonecall is over, the app closes itself.
My first attempt was to try and see what options were on in each app, but there doesn't seem to be anything related to something like this in either music players or the phone app. I went ahead and just disabled / uninstalled ANY music-related apps (player, pandora, winamp...) and tested it, and it still happens! How can the app run when frozen?
I'm really at my wits end here, can anyone offer any insight?
Sounds like a bug with the model of your phone. If you are running on a rooted phone I would recommend freezing the default music player and trying another player. On my phone I ended up freezin the app and installing a player then moved the app just installed to my system apps folder that way it stays there on a reformat. Hope this gives you some ideas...sorry I cant offer a fix. Keep me updated.
tuck my napkin in my shirt coz im mobbin' like that.

Ah yea, forgot to mention this was total stock.
But that's the thing, it is disabled! I had disabled it through the applications manager. And it still happens. Just wild. Not gonna root+TiBu+Freeze yet, so we'll have to see.
Ill see if i can find a fix. If you have headphones in does in still autoplay?

I wish I could remember when it started but I can't, probably sometime in the last 3 months. In the beginning it was very rarely happening but now it is ridiculous. It happens with the default music app (my car automatically grabs the music off my phone via BT when I am near it) and Spotify. It happens if I am connected via Bluetooth, or if I am using an aux cord, or if I am just playing it off my phone, both with and without earbuds. I can't find an external reason for it, the phone can be sitting untouched on my desk and it will just pause the music randomly. I then have to turn on the phone to press the play button to continue listening. Any ideas?
Oh, and my phone is not rooted and I have the lollipop update. Thanks!
If you want you can download this app and start running it while your playing your music it SHOULD capture everything in the system as it is happening: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.infamous.logcat then just copy everything audio releated. You can also search, see by us seeing whats going on in the system we can better determine it. Who knows maybe you have found a new bug in the lg software :good:

Do you have the log? You may want to just uninstall the Google app it may end up fixing your problem.

Sorry, I just now checked back. I have been using the log, but am not familiar with it and I have no clue how to use it. I have recorded/saved logs but I don't know how to access them to even look at them and I haven't had time to read up on how to use it. My fault for dropping the ball. As soon as I can find the logs on my phone I will post something. Thank you for following up with me.
Well I have made logs and I can't see anything on them at all pertaining to the music pausing. The program is extremely slow when I try to 'record'. The last time took 8 minutes just to load the recorder. I tried to export the log to post but after 15 minutes of the program "compiling', I gave up. The problem is extremely frustrating as some days I can run for 30+ minutes with no problems and then all of a sudden every few minutes/seconds the music pauses, which of course then interrupts my run (I'm training for a half marathon and this is stressing me out, lol!). Same goes for in my car; everything is fine and then boom! it's just pause, pause, pause, pause, over and over. I am at a loss.
Anyway, I'm just going to wipe the phone and start over, one app at a time. Maybe something weird is somehow conflicting.
Thanks for trying to help!
Well, just following up in case anyone comes across this same problem and stumbles upon my post.
Before wiping my phone I started making backups of my stuff, I had also done as much possible searching to see if anyone else was having this issue. Well, when I got to my Fitbit app, I remembered that some people had issues (not identical, but sort of similar) with their Android activity trackers and their phone, which made me wonder if I was having the issue too. I have been using the Fitbit app with a Fitbit One with no problems. In January I upgraded to the Fitbit Charge, which uses the same app, BUT the Charge also connects to the phone through the app via Bluetooth so that phone calls will show up on the Charge display. Anyway, I uninstalled the Fitbit app and I have not had the issue since then. So I am guessing there is something with the app, the Charge, and the phone not working together.

I am a YouTuber, and I need a very clean, non junk stuff appear on the screen, as well as keeping the internal feature on the video. I have some struggling with the timer on my LG's Screen Recorder, as it keeps appearing and there is no way to shut it off. Is there anyway I can do? I wouldnt want to neither use other 3rd party app cuz no internal sound, nor upgrade to unofficial Android 10 cuz it wouldn't actually record the sound for me, and I would like to keep using it as it has powerful function to my device as if I could take the timer off. It is a big matter to me. Thank you
