Can't find a definitive answer for this anywhere.
Where do the 7.1 or newer Roms active the remote control so it can bring the box out of standy and power down?
I know there is the remote.conf file in /system/etc on the 6 Roms which I have edited sucessfully before and you supposidly edit the remote.mouse1.tab in the 7.1 Roms but that doesn't seem to work. It doesn't even let me control the box once booted never mind power up and down which maybe suggests it is activated somewhere else first??
is it written into the kernel or boot loader perhaps.??
Please don't just suggest what I have already tried above. And yes I use a wireless usb keyboard/trackpad once booted but I'm talking about bringing the unit out of standby and powering down.
Any help would be massively appreciated.
I like my 7.1 Rom but having to disconnect/reconnect the power to boot it is just plain annoying.
did you ever figure it out, my remote does not work anymore after flashing poison rom over my boxes original rom, my power button works on the remote but thats it, have to use air mouse, has to be kernel or bootloader

i read but not sure if its true, it could be the kernel or something in boot, nougat rom changed things, so now i just use an air mouse
funny thing is if i flash back with twrp the original rom, the remote works again, but do not like the original rom.

Its definately got something to do with system, check out the installation method of mine and Whiteak's Poison Rom, that only modifies system partition and apparently after applying it the remote doesnt work properly

actually it's the bootloader and the remote.conf from \system\etc\ , if the bootloader will work, and if the correct remote.conf is put in system\etc\ the remote will work too for Power ON\OFF
oh, and i know how to add more remotes to a firmware (maximum in a firmware can be added 8 remotes) it's all about kernel

Hi, here the same problem. Upgraded the Android 6 firmware of my CSA93 (Amlogic S912, 3GB RAM, 32GB Flash) to the Stock T95Z Android 7.1 ROM (the base for the Poison ROM) and the remote has gone. I tried to copy the original remote.conf (from Android 6) into the new /system/etc folder (and also 5 other remote.conf files from the Internet with a restart each time), but no chance. It is probably not so easy as copying a file Any suggestions are highly appreciated. It is really annoying to have to turn on the device with the power switch each time.

It's in the recovery partition under system/etc
Is there any more info re: this issue? A good write up would really help a lot of us who cannot develop ROM but quite happy to tinker here and there.

Working fine for me. Thanks!
thanks you for your work.
As a note to remind myself of how to install future updates:
Firetv: system, about, network, get IP address.
Computer: command prompt, adb connect (ip address), adb push (rom.zip or the name of the rom file) /sdcard/,
To check if the amazontv is downloading rom file: WIFI, open network and sharing center, change network adapter, WIfi, status
when it is finishes transfering (eta 10-15 mins): adb reboot recovery, connect usb keyboard, install zip, /0/, /sdcard/, (rom.ziop or the name of the rom file), restart system. Done.
Great work! Thank you. I will install this tonight. Quick question: Is it a requirement to have a fully unlocked bootloader or no?
I'm partially unlocked at the moment, but will fully unlock it if necessary. Just haven't gotten around to it.

I will hold off until there is a release that justifies the installation. There are no added benefits of this release. I was hoping Miracast from the windows PC would work. that is one big benefit for the Microsoft world.

Ok, so i'm stuck at an impass and am hoping someone can help me.
I have two types of Q-Box (S905). The 2/8 and the 2/16.
The 2/16 seems like a better version of the two, has 5Ghz wifi, etc. It boots to TWRP from an sdcard without issue.
The 2/8 is giving me nothing.
I'm thinking its something to do with the bootloader, but I'm just guessing as I've never had this issue before.
Any ideas guys?

I don't think there is a TWRP version for the 2/8gb version
So maybe you flashed the 2/16Gb recovery, however you able to.fix this with USB burning tool
I should rephrase.
The box works fine, but I can't get twrp.
So you may have answered my question ?
They'll have to stay as is then ?
Fix this with USB Burning Tool??? I don't get it.
Recovery is recovery as long as it is compatible. It isn't very big - 12mb-ish. It should be fine on 10GB or 1GB RAM model. I used 2GB x96 version on 1GB model I bought just to test before spending more on a better model - Txx or something.
I didn't like the look of those HDMI Android stick's when looking around... Looked too dodgy.

"port a recovery", someone can explain it? mean custom recovery?
I am looking for a custom rom, minus the Google stuff, that will work on my Ulefone Armor X Oreo 8.1. I have a working TWRP recovery and have rooted it via Magisk but went back to stock after a few nagging problems.
The phone spec isn't wonderful so need something lighter but still having plenty of functionality.

This specific device and Chipset is fairly new and there's very little on the forum that's specific to your device.
With that stated...
You have a Mediatek MT6739 (64 Bit) device that can be very helpful in that aspect.
Though I had located a few threads that won't be very helpful for you but, the following thread is about the best that your possibly going to find for your device at this point in time.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701283
It does take some time for developments to pop up on the forum for newer Mediatek Chipsets but, where there's a developer (with the same Chipset device), there's always a way depending on the level of difficulty.
I wish you the best of luck with your search!

I'm also looking for that. But if I can get TWRP on it I'd probably try SU.
How did you get to install the TWRP? I found a few posts but was apprehensive about whether I can use SPFT to flash original stock ROM if things go wrong. I suppose that would be the easiest way.
For what I paid for the phone, it's a decent enough device.
Using SD card as internal memory always result in the total capacity being reported wrongly..256GB becomes 512GB with 50% occupied, 200GB becomes 256GB with 64GB occupied. Still waiting for their tech support to reply but unlikely they would.
Cheers!
I have rooted it several times and flashed the stock image several times too without a problem. Haven't used SU though I used Magisk.

I do not have your issue with storage but my wireless charging mat today stopped charging but still lights up. Phone will still charge via cable. Trying to get a replacement mat.
I installed using SP flash tools on windows and Linux just to see the difference.
If you do a Google for Install TWRP ulefone armor x then you will get some information and relevant files.
Unlocking the bootloader via ADB is straightforward on Windows and Linux too. And then relocking it.

im also facing the same issue... kindly someone help.. ive explained my issue below:
Can someone confirm? My device is encrypted by default, so whenever i install TWRP it says to decrypt device. I tried the pattern, changed it to password, and pin still my device doesnt decrypt in twrp. I feel its a twrp bug, because when i set the device to ask pattern during boot, the same pattern/pin/password is accepted, but not in twrp.
I want to know 3 things:
1. Are your devices encrypted by default (i dont remember encrypting my device, I dont know how it is encrypted)
2. Are you facing this same issue of entering password when you reboot into recovery?
3. What is the purpose of the boot.img in the twrp zip? am i required to flash it before flashing the recovery, or does it remove encryption?

In the folder containing the TWRP recovery there are 3 files, boot.img, scatter, and recovery. You only flash recovery, you have flashed the boot image, ensure the checkbox is unticked after loading from scatter in SP tools. That is what I think you have done to get that result.
Follow the guide here. I did it a few times before success as I followed a guide from another site.

You ignore the password and change the language to English from Russian. Just don't enter a password at all. The recovery won't stick as Android replaces it when you reboot. After you've completed other steps maybe OEM unlocking then it stays, or so I read somewhere.

Yes all are encrypted.
Yes I get the same request for password which I ignored and selected language and carried on.
I do not know why boot.img is included it just gets in the way.
After installing TWRP unlocking OEM bootloader and all the rest including rooting it I decided it would be better to wait for a new ROM. All we need is a working TWRP and an unlocked bootloader to flash a new ROM and we have that. It doesn't work very smoothly and I felt it could be better which is why I went back to stock.
When I posted this request I didn't imagine others would try installing Magisk etc, waste of time really as you won't stay with it either. Best wait for a ROM I think.

Mine is the same encryption is enabled. I select external SD storage and I am shown the contents using the same procedure as yourself, I cannot tell you why this is so. I am using the same technique, same phone, same settings, same TWRP, maybe we have different SD card?
That is all I can think of by way of an explanation. It works perfectly for me. I also made a backup which I can select and restore without a problem.

You could try using the latest adb and some universal driver ***,
but not much use from ADB really, if it has a stock recovery Then also
making update zip s could be problematic... signing...
Best to try contacting the manufacturer or seller, what ever, and try to get the firmware + tools.

If no luck, try to find out its soc. You could even try to open the damn thing...
Or just assume it's a MTK. If so -> MTK drivers, DroidTool, Wwr, SP_FlashTool, etc..
and make a backup. Worked ok? Good! Now find someone having the same piece of...
and ask her to do the same and share his system...
Good luck! :fingers-crossed::good:

Thank you so much for making such a hard effort to help me! ?
I'll do my best and will keep you informed.
Partitions "nvram" and in in my case also "pro_info" are important backups.
Nvram contains IMEI values etc... anyway it can be important to save it/them.
And pro_info might have some extra values defined in it. At least if the device
has some faked firmware showing wrong hardware values like in my case.
Then there might be some real values needed, defined there along with the faked ones...
I'm no MTK expert but managed to fix my tablet by restoring those partitions...
Ehh!
I've read all the info you linked. ????
OMG!
Well, I guess that I should download the rom.
After that do I have to do all the instructions?
How will my pc be able to see my phone?
I need no data backup.
I swear I got in touch with the store in which I bought the data cable and asked if it is really a data cable and not just a charging one.
I can do anything I just need to know the steps to be taken one by one.
There is no way to see the system files on my dead phone to be able to delete the rest files of SELinuxModeChanger?
Thanks for your kind reply in advance!

1. I can relate your "shock". That Wwr route isn't the easiest one, I can imagine.
Haven't done it myself. Maybe that SP_FlashTool + scatter file is enough for
the backup. If you have those IMEI numbers saved you probably can skip
the backup, but as I said I'm no expert, so you might want to do some
Googling before deciding anything...
2. Install the MTK drivers (search). any tool will need them too.
3. IDK. Maybe someone else has an answer to this?
Checked. The stock recovery doesn't use test keys, so making update zip is not possible.

Checked SELinuxModeChanger's info - and its source code too.
It shouldn't do any writing that factory reset wouldn't remove.

Easiest would be that the vendor would give you a full OTA/recovery update zip package.
(Not such that just patches the old one. ) That most likely would fix it.

Yep. Thanks.
Well, actually the antivirus Zemana asked if I wanted to make SELinuxModeChanger a part of the system/a system file. I agreed. I made the wrong decision. I used ES File Manager to delete SELinuxModeChanger. Well, I succeeded in half... but failed to delete it from all system maps and couldn't reinstall it again. Rebooted... The rest is history...
I guess phone thinks that it has a corrupted system and that's why it doesn't boot.
Navon... They never ever update. No system security patches ever.
Actually, 1 yr ago I had a problem nobody was able to help. I was advised to take my phone to Navon asking for refurbishing. I had no money and I wanted to fix the problem myself anyway. It took a year, but I found out how to fix it. ES File Manager was the key.

Yes I have seen that post. For "fun" I added the fota values from your build.prop to
my tablet and installed the apks needed for the OTA update. The OTA server
http://adups.cn didn't respond. It seems that the programs needs to be
updated or they don't provide updates for the older models...

Thank you so much for your trying to help me!
I guess I need some time to let it go for a while.
It came across my mind that 1 yr ago my phone was rooted also. Do you think that having my phone rooted makes Recovery Mode especially Factory Reset disabled?
Unfortunately twrp is not compatible with KitKat.
I guess it will be a hard effort to make my phone work again. I seem to give it up. Unfortunately, sending the phone to Navon for refurbishing... would cost too much and phone must be sent by post (!!!). It is a great phone, but customer service at Navon is...

I don't think that rooting is causing it. How do you know that
Factory Reset doesn't work?
You have a twrp for it? Older one, or what do you mean?

Maybe not that hard if you're able to connect to PC... but..
(it looks like that at the moment I cannot make a connection either, LOL
re-installing the drivers probably fixes it, IDK, have to check it some day... )
---
That OTA update needed (at least) one program more (to be run as a service).
Did that too. And I also disabled the firewall that was blocking the connection.
It just says that my system is up to date. (Changing version numbers etc. doesn't help).
The server response hints to http://europedownhw.mayitek.com/ site
that seems to be dead...

Factory Reset doesn't work. I mean that in Recovery Mode it doesn't matter how many times I do Factory Reset nothing happens.
I have no twrp. Only KingRoot was able to root my phone. TWRP said my phone not compatible with it.

While you're are letting go, you could read some stuff linked below. Good
instructions. What to do and what not to do. (Unlike at that "getdroidtips"
site I linked earlier. Some of the tips and articles there are total rubbish.
Mixed stuff copied somewhere else, I guess. Some might work, but not all.
Also they use wrong words in article names to get better Google rankings.)
SP Flash Tool + MediaTek MT65xx drivers download and installation guide including bricked devices
Download MTK Drivers (32 & 64 bit) XP Vista Win7 Win8
Windows 10 MTK VCOM USB Drivers for 32 & 64 bit + Drivers installation tutorial (Might be useful with win8 too.)
Download SP Flash Tool v3 & v5 – Latest versions ( Tip: read to the end)
Remove, Disable & Uninstall MTK USB Drivers and inactive COM Ports – USBDeview (if having driver problems)
(And I also sent you some info in Hungarian already in the previous post. Backup etc.)
Again. just for fun sake, I tried again if my MTK tablet/phone would be recognized by SP flash tool.
No luck. Previously it wasn't a problem. Still, the adb/fastboot works okay.
So, some problem with MTK drivers. I have used SP_Flashtool, BeTools,, even older ones
like WiseLinkTool. And maybe some that were between those two.
Well, I don't have any good reason to fix those driver problems at the moment,
everything works ok, but still it kind of sucks.
Anyway adb/fastboot works okay. And that is the problem mentioned originally in the title.
So, does the fastboot work?
With fastboot, if it works, you might be able to boot some modified recovery without flashing and then maybe do some backups etc.
My adb driver package, mentioned in my signature has some options to remove the
old adb installations and the old (maybe problematic) values from the registry...
USBDeview is better choice in some situations though...

Hey CACTUS
I am very happy to test it
but can I install One UI 2 Port or can not ??
and thanks very much for your hard work 🫡
I tried the J730F that Kostareka uploaded, and it actually worked! And it's hella SMOOTH! I'll test it for a week and see what's in store for me. I think I'll try the other One UI pie roms on the J7 thread and see if it works. Thank you @Kostareka for creating this patch.
wow, thanks for the hard work. I've tried and it works. I'll give it a try for some time. I still have this tablet for my kid, but messing around with it... I love it
Btw what do you think of trying with this rom https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-v4-5-a600x-exynos7870-arm64-08-2021.4287221/
It's Android 10 with one ui 2.5, the most recent rom that I've found for a Exynos 7870 device. Will it brick?

Hmmm I don't know if thats going to work, Kostareka said flash One Ui PIE roms not 10. And even if it does work, I don't really recommend it, because in terms of battery and ram optimizations, android 9 is it's max for this tablet.
If you're going to try it make sure to change the installer on the ROM you just downloaded otherwise the ROM will detect your device as unsupported.

I'm not really an expert but
1.EXTRACT THE ROM
2.OPEN THE EXTRACTED ROM AND FIND META-INF, THEN OPEN IT
3.OPEN 'COM' FOLDER AND INSIDE THAT FOLDER IS THE GOOGLE FOLDER, OPEN IT AND YOU WILL FIND THE ANDROID FOLDER,
4. INSIDE THAT FOLDER, YOU WILL FIND THE UPDATOR SCRIPT. YOU CAN EDIT OR CHANGE IT. IF YOU'RE GOING TO CHANGE IT USE THE UPDATOR SCRIPT FROM THE J730F THAT KOSTAREKA UPLOADED
5. IF YOU'RE TO EDIT IT, WATCH A YOUTUBE TOTURIAL ON HOW TO.
I never tried this before, but I'm going to try it
Back to the J730F Stock Rom, it has some trouble with wifi connections. It won't connect to a 5GHz wifi and it disconnects frequently from a 2.4GHz network.
It seems to be unable to receive a DHCP IP. I've tried with a static one, but it works with some errors from time to time...
