Hello,
I am currently running on Android 6.0
I am trying to move apps to SD card but for some reason I can't see the option.
I have tried going to settings and apps and tapping on the app and can't see an option.
I have tried a few apps as well to move to SD card but all the apps do is take me to the settings menu. They don't actually move the app themselves even though the app I am trying to move is movable according to the app.
Any ideas anyone?
Anyone?
Please?
Everyone's lack of response does not encourage me to contribute to this forum. Thanks for nothing! Crap community!

You are probably looking for what is native to Nougat on up. I'd suggest trying APP2SD and before you use it read the tutorials on XDA here.

I'm sorry if this is already adressed in another thread, but I searched and could not find anything; if there is another thread I would be happy if someone would direct me there.
I have been using this site to help decide on getting the nook, and to figure out how to root the nook. Now that it is rooted I am having 2 problems. The first is that I have run out of room on the device and can not update any of the apps until I remove some, and I was wondering if there was a way to put them on the SD card. I've gone into the nook color tools, manage apps, and selected an app that I was told would deffinitely work from the SD card, Angry Birds, and selected "move to SD card" and it says, failed to move.
The second problem is that the 'n' button only takes me to the zeam launcher, whereas before when I hit the 'n' button it would open a menu asking me if I wanted to go home or to the zeam launcher. Is there a way to get this option back?
For the latter question, go to Settings->Applications->Manage Applications, then choose Zeam and click the "Clear defaults" button.
How about the former?
Manual nooter supports apps to sd. You may still run out of room though.
Eventually.

I think you need dal's kernel as well.
If i install dal's kernel, what would that do to my device? aside from allowing applications to be moved to the sd card.
Moving the purchased or built in Nook apps to SD causes them to appear uninstalled to the Nook Store.
I was having the same issue, but I left the Nook apps alone and moved ALL other eligible apps to SD. Once I did this I am able to add Nook apps with no problem.
I did start from scratch and add all Nook apps first, this makes things much easier.
Hi All,
In the Applications screen, I have arranged the icons there but after reboot or disconnecting from PC, my icons rearranges themselves.
I have searched and in xda-dev, only one guy has posted the same problem in xperia mini:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=998357
I don't have any SD card inserted so I'm not sure why.. (I've seen discussions that apps moved to SD card will make their icons run around)
Can anybody please assist?
Running Android 2.3.4, GINGERBREAD.UHKG7
Thanks!
Mine also does the same
Unfortunately I don't find any solution yet

I use AppZorter to put the apps in alphabetical order
Genius and saves me alot of time trying to move countless icons to different pages whilst trying to get them in order ... Only for somd of them to move on reboot.

hi chrisjcks,
thanks for your feedback but I don't want to arrange it alphabetically.
I want to sort it by my preference which would be in pages: apps, games, settings+mod, etc.
You can create folders and move your apps into them. I do it, the folders keep arranged as I pleced them. The apps inside, however, keep re-sorting as before. But if you have small folders, it's much better as if all apps are in a complete mess as it's without having folders.
Hi skr68,
yes i understand about the folders but it's sad having to create folders when we can have as many apps pages as we want..
can anybody else assist in advicing how to stop the icons moving around?
i'm currently using other launcher but it will not allow pages to be not full..
go to settings > applications > manage applications and the "on SD card" tab
the galaxy s2 partitions its internal memory in 2gb of ROM and the rest as an sdcard, so whether you have an external sdcard inserted or not, apps might still be being installed on the "sdcard"
have a look and see if any are ticked, open them and move them to the phone memory and see if the issue persists
Well, that might not *quite* be what he wanted to know...
We are talking about the icons here, not app installation paths.

Yes it the only thing I don't like about Touchwiz, You will have to use a 3rd party launcher like launcher plus or ADW launcher if you want that feature.
hi viva.fidel,
yes there are items listed "On SD Card" but they are not ticked - i opened them and the option is to move to SD card, no option to move to phone memory..any further advice?
Thanks!
hi jhernand1102,
i don't think it's limited to touchwiz, you can see the same problem with xperia mini at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=998357
hi, any help?
I think what is being said is that apps on SD are displayed after others because it needs to mount and scan at boot time, this is what is killing the order in the launcher.
What I really want to figure out is if there is some way I can modify the touchwiz launcher to always arrange alphabetically.

hi alias_neo,
yes i understand that but i don't have any sd card installed and if you see post ten, none of the apps "on sd card" is ticked too..
anyway, gave up and decided to use after market launchers..currently using GO Launcher
I'm running KG6 on a SGS2 and I was also having this problem. I found a solution though.
1. Install AppZorter Lite from the Android Marketplace.
2. Open AppZorter and select 'Settings'.
3. Select 'Advanced settings'.
4. Select 'Recover application menu'.
This will reset the application menu on the home screen and the icons in the app draw.
5. Move applications to your desired locations in the app draw.
6. Restart and enjoy app icons where you want them to be.
@ _Sledz_
thanks for the valuable input!

A simple solution would be to use adw free or paid. You can make catalogs and sort your apps as you want.
However touchwiz does not have any such features except moving apps around and making folders
app icons keep moving
my app icons keep moving around after I place them where I want them too. Probably the most annoying thing I've discovered about this phone.
Infuse 4G

worked for me

I can't believe I'm asking one of these "what ROM" questions but what custom ROM/s does XDA have that will have a setting where I can default app installs to the External SD?
My internal 16GB keeps taking a beating & I'm a little tired of the maintenance.
Directory Bind helps for some apps but its not anything close to a complete solution.

I take no credit for this, Kaos420 made this mod for cm 10.1, check it out and get ready for some AOSP

Hello all..
I just switched to Android. I got the LG G PRO 2 runs Kitkat, and I was wondering if there any way to move apps to the SD card. I tried "Move to SD card" option but we all know this is useless.
I read that it could be done by rooting the phone (not yet sure what or how is that). but should this be done every time I need to move an app or what?
Also, is there any way to easily control the placement of the apps on storage, specially large apps like games and such, one by one like in old Android?
Any piece of info related to the subject will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Does every Cyanogenmod rom allow that by default, or dit it die with version 11 or 12 being the last one?
If installing directly to SD is a no go, what good apps are there that do the transfer (and keep everything working, of course
I would recommend Link2SD.
I have used it with satisfaction on several low memory devices.
Not sure why, I find Link2SD and its options terribly confusing Well, I guess I'll need to learn.
There are a lot of guides and it's not so complex.
The best way to use it is to create a second partition on sd (consider a backup of your data on pc/otg/cloud/...).
As far as I can remember link2sd will ask you the filesystem type and then it will create some script to use it.
Then you can simply tap on an app from the list and press "link to sd".
From the apps list you can do a lot of operation like convert apps to system/user app, freeze/unfreeze, merge an updated app to rom etc. and using the filter this kind of operation will be very easy and fast.
EDIT:
On the plus (paid) version you can link also data.
If you really want to maximize the free space on the device, this option is worth the few moneys.
EDIT2:
I've always used it on other devices using AOSP based roms, I don't know if there are problems using it with MIUI.
Thanks a lot! So, if you "link" (strange choice of word, it's not actually linking if it gets completely moved to SD and nothing remaing in main storage is it, that's what confused the hell out of me), app and its data to SD, will it be exactly like it was downloaded and installed on SD right from the store, like it used to be on Android versions that supported such thing? I know Cyanogenmod 11 did that perfectly, wonder if it's CM thing by default, or did they moved to new (stupid) concept of raping the main storage in later versions
EDIT: Any chance of "linking" bloody Whatsapp to SD completely? I'm in continuous maintenance mode of my wife phone because that **** consumes the storage for all it's worth.

Linking is not the same as moving.
For example, if you move to sd and then remove the sd from the device, widgets and app icons will be removed.
Maybe they will be restored when you insert your sd again, but the order could not be the same.
The same doesn't happen linking.
There are also other benefits, try googling for "link2sd faq".

I'm not using whatsapp so I don't know if it works.
I guess that your are talking about the "whatapp" directory on which msgs and media are store.
If link2sd can't solve your problem, I think that can try to move the whatsapp directory to sd and then manually create a link (keep the original name) on the original position.
Or you can try with apps like foldermount
EDIT:
try looking at this thread
Maybe your can try xposed app..xinternalsd..swap sdcard to be phone memory
