Hotspot Latency Issue - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

I work away during the week and have been using my S9+ to hotspot to my laptop. I noticed when playing q game that there a significant lag that occurs about every 60 seconds or so. The issue does not occur on my work phone which is on the same network.
I have attached screenshots from my phone and my laptop of a continuous latency test. As you can see there is a large jump in latency every now and again on my laptop when connected to my hotspot, which is not evident when running the same test on my phone.
Has anyone experienced this on their phone and if so have you been able to fix it? Does anyone know how I could isolate the problem?
Cheers in advance

Didn't try to test ping but there was no real issue for surfing on the other phone from my S9+ DUO (exynos).
Which phone do you have precisely ?

Sorry s9+ duo Exynos, only using one sim. For normal browsing it's not an issue as you wouldn't notice the lag as its literally a second or so. It's only noticeable when in a game when the game jumps/ the ping counter jumps drastically

Isn't it possible to Hotspot and Tether at the same time? I think I remember doing that. But I don't remember any latency issues.

I never got anywhere but issue doesn't seem to be as bad recently.
Also the problem wasn't that the ping was always high (it was sitting around 50ms) but jumped to 1000ms every 60 seconds or so

Same problem..ping from 30ms go to 120ms and return 30ms..but always stay on 120
With samsung s7 i havent this problem!( with the Same sim network).

[Q] Wifi performance when using Bluetooth

Hi
Just got my 16GB WiFi Tablet Z running 4.1.2 (build 10.1.C.0.370) a few days ago and I've noticed that while I have my Bluetooth headphones connected (to avoid using those pesky port covers ) the WiFi performance of the tablet becomes very poor and erratic. The tablet doesn't disconnect from any networks, it maintains a connection and the signal strength shows no change but pages become very slow to load (if they load at all) and YouTube videos will not buffer properly. It will then work fine for a few minutes but then have issues and become unusable afterwards.
I've had this issue every WiFi network I've tried. 2 in the house (2.4Ghz) and a 5GHz one along with the mobile hotspot on my phone.
I've never had this issue on any other device I've had (OG Nexus 7, HTC One, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy Note, ASUS Transformer TF100) so
I'm wondering if this is a software issue that may be fixed with the upcoming 4.2 update or a custom ROM or is it still there on other ROMs and it is a hardware issue?
Thanks

First Time i connect with Bluetooth (Keyboard) the Wifi connect was lost...i had to restart the Tablet.. I hope it is only a Software Problem
This is a known issue for this specific tablet. It's on the Sony mobile discussion forums for tab z. Bluetooth and wifi work fine separately it's just when they are on together that issues appear. For me, wifi didn't stop working all together, it just took far too long to even load the most basic of websites. No response from one just yet.

UPDATE: Just updated to 4.2.2 and from what I have experienced, it seems as if they have fixed the issue. I can use my Bluetooth headphones and listen to music without any Wifi problems
Could anyone else confirm this?

[Q] Galaxy S4 Supercell Servers Connection Problem

So I have been playing Clash of Clans for quite some time now (over a year now), and this has always been a problem with this particular device, and the router (idk if it's the router causing the problem) that this wi-fi network uses.
I will try to specify my problem to the best of my abilities.
So what is going on is my Galaxy S4 on this particular wi-fi network I am on has very frequent connection problems on Supercell games.
With the recent updates they released, they added the connectivity issue icon that pops up in the middle of the screen when it begins to lose connection. This happens frequently. Most of the time, anytime I move to a different screen while this icon is active, it will then display the little loading icon (orange circular icon). At this point in time, I will have to completely reload my game in order to regain a connection. This also happens on Hay Day too, except Hay Day doesn't have the connectivity issue icons. I can get onto my 1st Generation Nexus 7 and play Clash, and I notice it actually "nexts" faster than my Galaxy S4, as well as never having these connectivity issues. It's weird because I am almost certain the Galaxy S4's CPU is much faster than the first generation Nexus 7's. I am wondering if perhaps this is some sort of an issue with the firmware version I am on. I have tried turning on airplane mode and turning only wi-fi on, and it still has the same issues.
Device: Sprint Galaxy S4
OS: Jellybean 4.2.2
Router: Tenda W311R
My phone IS rooted on the stock rom.
I read that S4s have connectivity issues with certain D-Link routers, but I have no idea if this is one.
Does anyone have similar issues, or have seen similar issues with this phone on Supercell games?
Bump! Does anyone know what this might be?

Wifi speed slow when bluetooth is on

I've got the 8" version and I noticed that when I connect a bluetooth headphone or speaker the wifi slow down to less than 1 mbps while playing music or video. Can anyone test if it's a common problem or is it just my unit?
Thanks.
PD: sorry for my english if I made any mistakes.

Well as WiFi and Bluetooth use the same frequencies there is always an interference between them especially if you have two streams in parallel (downloading the music file and transmitting to the head phones). You could try to use 5GHz for WiFi in that case Bluetooth should not be affected.

This isn't a minor interference, it makes wifi almost useless. Less than 1 mbps of download speed, latency increases and sometimes it doesn't even work at all. I did this speed test right next to the router while playing a song:

With bluetooth on it is impossible to stream a video without constantly buffering. I did the same test on my phone and my laptop and both are ok. My router doesn't support 5 GHz, but I read that it doesn't fix the problem for people with the same issue on other devices.
Edit: And don't forget that this tablet doesn't have a 3.5 mm headphone jack (a really stupid decision if you ask me), so it push you to go wireless and this is what you get.........
I have the m5 10" version and I have the same. About 0.5MB at a 5Ghz network while listening to some music. Get around 5-10MB with Bluetooth disabled.

It's not just my unit then, must be a bad design of the antennas or whatever I guess, great. Because I don't think it could be fixed with a software update, right?
This is unacceptable to me, I'm going to return it. Now the problem is what tablet buy next. What other choices are there? IPad, I don't like Apple; Samsung Tab S2 is kinda old; S3 too expensive...... damn it.

I have the M3 and just tried it. With Bluetooth on I get less than 1 mbps down while streaming, just under 5 mbps with no streaming. With Bluetooth off I get 155 down on my 5ghz wifi. Damn. I usually use my phone for music.
The mediapad M3 has this issue also, it just crawls when using wifi and Bluetooth.

Ok, I'll give you some numbers.
Huawei M5 playing a song through bluetooth:
M5 bluetooth off (I know, my internet connection sucks):
Nexus 5x playing a song through bluetooth:
Nexus 5x bluetooth off:
Can you see the difference??
I know that if a lot of devices are connected at the same frequencies there is going to be interferences and the speed is going to drop (notice the minor hit in the Nexus). But the case with the M5 is not normal, must be a bad design. It makes wifi almost useless. And there are 2 replies that have test it in a 5 GHz wifi and the problem persist.

Man. I gave up bluetooth headphones a long time ago. Just search the internets for this problem. You have enough to a week. The general answer for this question is change router channel or get a 5ghz router.

Again?? Did you not read that a 5 GHz router doesn't fix it? This thing is broken.
Give up bluetooth headphones on a device that doesn't have a 3.5 mm jack, great. And no, that stupid usb to jack adaptor it's not a proper solution to a problem that shouldn't even exist in the first place.
The tablet is going back to the store next week.

Again. Google it. Its not a problem related to this device. Its all over the internet. Every OS and lots of devices. Maybe some devices dont suffer as much from the problem but this is definitely not a problem related exclusively to this device.

Unbelievable..... Last time I reply to this.
I have tested my family's phones, a Xiaomi Redmi 3s and a Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro, and both under the same conditions give me around 9 mb/s:
So let's compare numbers:
Nexus 5x - 12 mb/s
Both Xiaomi (budget phones) - around 9 mb/s
Huawei M5 - around 0.6 mb/s (tested multiple times, it never gets more than 0.8)
The M5 is more than 10 times slower. Do you get it now? Yes, none of them get the maximum speed when bluetooth is on, but only one becomes extremely slow.
Ok, those are the hard numbers, but what about real life usage? Well, the M5 is so slow that browsing the web is a pain in the ass, web pages with lots of images takes forever to load, and it is impossible to watch a hd youtube video because it's constantly buffering. None of this happens on the other devices. Do you see the problem now??

this is really sad to see. there are so few tablets to choose from, and even less if you want hd screens and latest gen hardware. this one looks great on paper, but reading in here is a complete disappointment.
it does not take a rocket scientist to notice the speed problem, and anyone that says "well dont use bluetooth!" if they cant make them play nice (which they do fine on other hardware, at least well enough to use both at the same time without noticing an issue) they should not have even put bluetooth on the device.

I hope ppl staying saying ALL android has this problem, the problem with my M3 is wifi is nearly unusable when blutooth is on. And pls stop misleading huawei tablet users 5ghz will be better. IT DOESNT HELP. I have owned many android ( samsung note3, note5, xiaomi, even entry lenovo tablet n nvr had one with wifi problem with blutooth on. I am using m3 and even 5ghz is below 1mbps for download with blutooth on. If u have sim version u should check from time to time.. It is slow extremely slow compared to other device using the same sim. I have given up. By the way my problem is only for download, upload tests are ok with wifi n sim.

wifi connection interrupts automatically when not using the tablet for a few minutes

Hey there!
Ever since the official Android 10 update I'm experiencing interrupts in my wifi connection whenever I put my tablet away for a few minutes. I'd guess that's probably some new feature for battery saving, at least it's called "sleep mode" on my OnePlus 5T, but I haven't found anything similar on my tablet yet. The patch notes for the Android 10 update also don't mention anything wifi or battery related as far as I can tell....
It's not my wifi since my phone and my bf's phone all work as usual.
Any ideas or anyone experiencing the same issue? Already checked dev options in the settings, but couldn't see anything related. Maybe I missed some settings somewhere?
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, 256 GB LTE (SM-T865)
push.
I've been experiencing problems with WiFi direct screen share connections too, like Miracast protocol

Yup! I did a couple of things though, so I don't really know which of them actually helped fixing the issue, or if it's even required to do all.
- I got 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wifi. They shared the same name, which made my tab switch between them often. I renamed both wifis so they don't share the exact same name (fun fact, they're now called Pizza 2.4 and Pizza 5). My tab is now only using the 5 GHz one, the 2.4 one now is only for devices that don't support 5 GHz (like my New Nintendo 3DS XL or my printer), because I live in an area where many people are, and the more wifi channels are occupied, the messier (and more prone to interferences) it gets. 5 GHz has a smaller range but is also stronger, which is perfect for my small flat. On 2.4 there's way more interferences because it has more range.
- In my router's settings, I've set the tablet's IP to static, because I've read somewhere that this might help.
Can't tell if both steps are required, you might just wanna try out one first if you don't necessarily want a static intern IP for example.
My tablet also used to take ages to find my wifi, which is now fixed for some reason. On my OnePlus 5T it still takes very long to find my 5 GHz wifi, although it also has a static IP. But both devices won't disconnect randomly anymore.

if you haven’t got 5ghz only thing i can suggest is change the Wi-Fi channel you can download Wi-Fi Analyzer of the play store to see what your neighbours Wi-Fi is on as sometime they do interfere try that if it dont work send the tab s6 back and get a replacement or get a better router
