Long story short, I had some reasons to flash ST15i in past but had never seen this error before.

I use the latest version of flashtool, because previous one cannot sync with github what gives me additional errors.
My question is what does that "Not a sin file" error mean and what causes it (except for my inability to see some obvious things).
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I am having some trouble flashing my Z2, I hope you can help me...
As you can see in the log below somethings get updated (confirmed in the service menu, Phone software V=1278-4770_23.1.A.28, file system V=global-lte_23.1.A.0.726). I have tried Sony's USB drivers and Flashtool drivers, 32/64 versions of flashtool itself (computer is 64 tho), also tried VodaUK and genericUK ftf (later is the one I want, both downloaded twice with Xperifirm), USB2 and USB3 ports... It always fails at the same point. After that the phone reboots into normal operating mode while still plugged (that's what you can see in the last entries).
I am uncheking all wipe options as i don't want to loose anything..

THanks for the quick reply! I am on Win7 x64.
Forgot to add as part of troubleshooting: ran flashtool as user and as admin, install drivers both as user and admin too..

You try using a different image? I can't imagine that'd be the problem, but for troubleshooting.
I'd also try a different cable and a different version of Flashtool.

nah! Same thing... :crying:
This time tried with different cable, same
Also tried .726, same.. however now system info shows .726 everywhere which I guess is a good thing.
As for previous Flashtool version I could only find .13 which did not appear to do anything. Is there a another version between .13 and .18?
Thanks for your help..

I don't know of .13, the only ones I know are .10, .11, .16, and .18, but you shouldn't need to worry about that too much I wouldn't think. I'd try flashing it on a different computer with a fresh install of the drivers. And be sure you're wiping all the right things too.
...erm
"wipe the right things"? I am certainly not wiping data, should I wipe others?
Try an earlier version of xperifirm, one that doesn't make xml files for flashtool.
Hi,
I've followed your suggestion, but in a slightly different way. Instead of using a previous version of Xperifirm, I did download the firmware directly from Flashtool and let it build the bundle. It worked!
Thanks for the help!
As pointed out, there must be something going on with the xml files done by Xperifirm.
Uncheck "Unknown" under partition list before you start flashing the stock ROM. The unknown partition includes a file named fwinfo.xml which isn't supposed to be there in the firmware bundle. Delete fwinfo.xml from the source folder before you build the ftf or uncheck unknown partition before flashing

Well... I've followed the guide below and the suggested previously

Have anybody noticed 1.3.0.64 firmware for D6503 on XperiaFirm? Since the last app update, I could see it.
Anybody tried this? Looks like it's an internal test firmware.
Just downloaded it. It's an 4.4.2 firmware with build number 17.1.2.A.0.251
I have attached build.prop if anybody wants to have a look!
EDIT: It has Ascom TEMS software in the /system. I have not installed this fw.

Don't use it, avoid it because you don't need it. Stay with the 314 for rooting purposes on locked bootloader.
I need this firmware for my another sirius, cause this firmware noticed on xperiafirm via flashtool

I was initially interested on this firmware because it has TEMS software which is used for Mobile Network testing by the Engineers.
But now it looks like we need a different variant.
So my friend tried to flash the latest rom 23.1.D0.509 he said it would straight fail. He tried a different download, it failed somewhere flashing it. now the phone doesn't boot up. It will go into recovery (stock) and flash mode. when I try to flash the old or new ftf it gives me this erro "19/048/2015 20:48:37 - ERROR - Can't read a byte value" I'm now stuck. any ideas?
After banging my head against the wall a few times. i managed to flash back to 4.4, then it took to 5.0 I have no idea what happened. glad its fixed. i did check resetnvram to get rid of the " ERROR - Next to unit should be the size on 4 digits" after that went just fine
How did you get it to flash anything? I tried for a few hours to flash the leaked firmware using the ftf file and the Xperia flash tool but the tool doesn't have the z3v as an option what is the workaround to that I'm on stock firmware not rooted

I had issues with flashtool as well. Had the Z3 device driver, flashmode and fastboot drivers installed. Phone was in usb debugging mode and set to allow installation from unknown sources. Still had issues with it saying "Processing of loader.sin finished with errors." .... "Error flashing. Aborted"
I read that someone had success with using an older version of flashtool, so I installed 9.18.4 and tried again.
I got the "Drivers need to be installed for connected device." Reinstalled those three drivers mentioned above and tried again.
Got the loader.sin error again, along with "Cannot identify your device." with a prompt to select a device from the list ( I usually chose Z3 (D6603) up until now).
BUT this time I hit cancel and was told "You can only flash devices."
I unplugged my phone, reloaded the ftf, hit flash and it began flashing!
Hope this helps.

Yesterday, I have been playing around with my phone (Z3V) and I was able to flash it to latest leak (23.1.D.0.509) and had no issues. Prior, Flashtool that I downloaded from flashtool.net, the latest version seemed to me that it will not put loader.sin into firmware content. With newest flashtool, the flashing might not work. If you need a detailed guide how to get to latest leak for your phone (z3v) then I will write it for you. I can only tell you how to do it without a root since I was not planning on rooting my device.
P.S. : I will make a video guide on how to flash z3v without root to 23.1.D.0.509 in few days.
Please do I don't see an official update any time soon

What rom did you flashed with it?
it seems that the firmware you used in flashtool is broken or incomplete. (02/017/2016 03:17:06 - ERROR - Processing of loader.sin finished with errors.)
download again or download 4.1.B.0.587 firmware may help. link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1628264
I have used the instruction to come back to kittkat. The FTF bundle is SGP621_23.0.1.A.0.167_CE.ftf and flashtool ver. 0.9.18.6
but when the flashing starts I got error, here is the log:
22/027/2016 01:27:18 - INFO - Devices sync finished.
22/027/2016 01:27:23 - INFO - Device disconnected
22/027/2016 01:27:42 - ERROR - root : this bundle is not valid
the first error "bundle not valid" I have ignored, as it was adviced on other forum and then connected the tablet in flashing mode (vol-) and quickly after that I got:

dude I only know that I had successfully downgraded from LP to KK just from flashtool..(the best I did for this tablet) check if your ftf is corrupted.it happened also to me 2 times in my other mobile devices..
how can I check if it is corrupted ?
That was my fault. I only choose the "generic drive" after running flastool-drivers.exe -
the driver specific for Z3 Compact Tablet was needed (was at the end of the list)
Nevertheles, after first attempt the Flashtool did not start flashing but enter into MTP mode and install
the drivers for the tablet, as I suppose.
Only after the second attempt it started flashing.
Now is ok, I have KK again.
