Hi, I have an M5 8.4 C636 which is Asia Pacific region and haven't had any updates since June. I'm running on version 153 but according to HFF app there are 2 new software versions (169 & 180) but they haven't come through on OTA and are not approved for installation (per HFF app) although they are correct for C636 regon
My bootloader is locked and I'm not rooted but I was going to unlock the bootloader and selected 'unlock bootloader' in developer options some time ago then decided not to unlock it. Think this has stopped the OTA updates.
Does anyone have any suggestions about manual update when none of the available software versions are approved for installation?
Thanks in advance

In the past they have been - but more recently, the speed has been OK. You just have to temper your expectations a bit.
Motorola used to have a reputation for fast updates, but when I last had a Motorola device, they were really slow at updates.
Huawei have committed to Android Enterprise, which delivers at least 1 major OS update (Android 9), and Google security patches for 3 years within 90 days of release by Google.
As we are on July 2018 patch, they have 30 days to deliver either Android 9 or Android 8 with a newer security update newer than July 2018, otherwise they fail at their enterprise commitment and leave themselves legally open to breaking contractual obligations (and potentially customer returns)
I'm on the August security patch for maybe the past two weeks so I'm hopeful that this will get updated regularly.
Hello!
Now I have the Poco from about a couple of month, I know that the 10.3.xx is already available from en.miui.download but the OTA updating not start...
Can I update manually without any sistem faillure or data losting directly from the Sistem Info > Sistem updates > "tap on 3 points" > Download the last packet and then install it...?
Is this method sure for the further OTA or the update procedure for this terminal is alwais the metod signed above?
Many thanks
I have the same issue in Estonia, the update never showed up for me
Same for me, Belgium.

Hey, so I've been using Xiaomi phones for quite a while, and I've gone through notes, Poco, the 9T pro, now up to the Mi10. I've only ever installed minor mods and such, never needed to flash ROMs before. I just set up my Mi10 today and it says no updates are available, staying on Android 10 and MiUI 11, even though it should have at least access to a beta MiUI12. Tried different regions, nothing.
I looked around and saw some ROMs for MiUI 12 for DL, there are ROMs for the Ultra and Pro, but not the basic. Thing is, the Pro and the regular are almost identical devices, save for I guess the camera sensors. So, I have a few questions.
Would the Mi10 pro ROM work for the regular Mi10 5G?
If not, is there a link I missed here for a MiUI 12 ROM for the regular one?
Can I really install a ROM through the phone itself, manually, and if not, is there a guide on here that I have also missed?
Soon
Check weekly builds on xiaomi eu website
Probably your device is branded. I have mi 10 EEA with android 11 and miui 12 v. 12.2.4

How do you mean? It's imported from the Netherlands and not locked to any carrier or anything, as far as I can tell. Hmm.

Sure thing, is there any way I can easily do that?
Something like a log I can post?
You can post that screen

As you see, VF is Vodafone branded firmware, so it is very slow in updating. You should change fw: unlock bootloader, use mi flash for flashing EEA fw. You can relock using that fw, not others

Hi,
I had the same questions when i received my Mi10 last week (France) it was locked on mi11 and no update proposed
Now, before unlocking the bootloader, i could manually update with no problem to miui 12.0.6 European stable version through manual update (setting - > updates - > menu > select update package
The recovery update package can be found easily on Google.

Do I need to use Mi Unlock to unlock the bootloader, because I've never done that before?
And do you mean this one? Mi 10 EEA Firmware V12.2.4.0.RJBEUXM Update | Xiaomi Firmware Updater
If these are stupid questions, sorry, I genuinely don't know how it works.

You mean the V12.2.4.0.RJBEUXM Europe recovery ROM from here Download: MIUI 12 stable update rolling out to several Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices (xda-developers.com) ?
Because when I tried to install it with choose update package, it said something about couldn't verify carrier or something like that.
Haven't tried it in recovery mode after restart, but I was worried if that might have a bad effect on the device. I have not unlocked bootloader myself, never done it before.

No problem bro. Yes, you have to unlock bootloader with mi unlock and then use mi flash for flashing rom from here: https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=2
Choose "last europe"
It is miui 12, Android 10, but then you receive ota update or download recovery update version from web.
In mi flash you can choose "clean all & lock" option, i have done same procedure for my device. Cheers.

VF is different from Global or EEA, so package doesn't match in update app

Well, this really blows. I set up an account fine, logged in with MiUnlock, tried to unlock, it threw an error 1004. Tried again, told me to associate this device and number in developer settings. I did that, tried again, and it said "Try again 168 hours later, not earlier or you'll wait from scratch"...
This sucks.
I don't get it at all. Everything seemed fine. Is there really nothing I can do?
I'm almost tempted to just return the phone if I can't.

It is normal, Xiaomi requests 170 hours generally for unlocking

But it was with some sort of error message, is this normal?
If it's normal and I just need to try in a week, then ok, but if there's something else, I might as well return it since no telling when VF will release firmware, and I wasn't told it was VF-branded on purchase.
I also get something about "SMS_DOWNLINK_REACHED", if that matters, but it didn't seem to affect the Mi account or the developer options "add account to device".

You have to wait a week, yes. Seller should say if it is a branded VF device. If you don't want to wait you can return it. In my case i have paid 420 EUR, so i choose to unbrand it by myself.
I advice you to read some guide online for unlocking etc
Message in "mi flash" is normal, you have to use "mi unlock" before. They are different programs

Yeah, I know they're different, this message is from Mi Unlock Tool, I followed the steps on Xiaomi's DL site for it, i.e. create and confirm a Mi account on the phone, download the tool, log in with the account, boot the phone in safeboot mode, try unlocking, llink the phone and number with developer options, etc.
If it's normal, then that's good and I didn't mess something up. All that's left is to wait and see if it works in a week.
Thanks a lot for the help, I hope this works out eventually!
