Hey guys at XDA
This is a thread for everyone to post their antutu or Geekbench 4 benchmarks. Let's see how close we can get to scores of the s9! Please include a guide (if possible) on how you achieved that score! Here's mine with an absolutely monstrous 226k antithesis benchmark. I OC'ED to 2.8 ghz using Smurf Kernel and used 572 mhz OC on GPU but forced it to stay there via Mtweaks. Also I disabled DVFS manually by removing its permissions. Also using S9 ROM port by Regula

How exactly did you disable dvfs?
You have to remove it's permission

Ok so using file explorer goto the main directory (where you can overview the all components of the tab. From there goto /sys. when in there type dvfs in search and a bunch of files will pop up. disable "DVFS", DVFSmin and DVFS max. Thats all!
Freezer test..now let s see how the dvfs thingy works...
So ...dvfs disabling does nothing for my phone. Same if not worse results with it disabled.

Can you post some pictures or a tutorial how you disabled dvfs and made it stick? I see.that the whole process reverted after reboot...
It can't stick. Usually the init.d script works but they changed the location of dvfs so it's not working
I figured it out yay

Can anybody enlighten me or point me to a thread as to why the second core only works when I have setcpu installed on my resound?

Be happy it does, I spent 3 days trying to figure out why my 2nd core wasnt coming online. I finally found a post about it on xda.

Even then, when it's needed, and using ICS it doesn't turn on unless you're using SetCPU.
If you want to enable it manually do this from either "adb shell" or from the console on your phone:
Here's the full command string:
su
echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/online
I know benchmarks don't really mean that much but with my second core enabled and both OC'd to 1.7 GHz while on Newt's Senseless ICS, my scores destroy the GNex and anything I was getting before!

Quadrant: 3,594

How is the battery life after 2nd core is activated ?
Thanks
I dont see a difference, as each core shares responsibility. So instead of one core being at 1.7ghz each core an be at 850mhz. Although sometimes the one core will max out without intiating the 2nd core.

Pretty crappy, but then again I have it at 75% brightness and the performance gov set to 1.7 GHz and 192 MHz with the screen off. My phone was fully charged at 1 PM, and it's currently at 45% using the standard battery. I only ran a few benchmarks with antutu and quadrant and a few other less intensive things. Looking at the battery info 78% of my battery usage is from the screen.
Try the AnthraX kernal in the development section. I believe its clocked at 1.51 to force the second core to turn on.

I have it up and running, so far so good.
I just tried it and it will boot up for me but the touchscreen won't work. I'm using Newt's Senseless.
System Tuner Pro will allow you to force both cores online. Also it overclocks and undervolts aswell.

It currently only works with GB roms. Ignore me if Newt's Senseless is one, I thought it was ICS.
It is an ICS ROM I saw some people had it working with ineffibilis so I decided to give it a shot for the hell of it to see if it would work.
You dont need to force the 2nd core on, it will kick on. If you arent using setcpu that could be an issue. Antutu doesnt work. Also use cpu usage monitor and you can see both cores work.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW
Just a note i read on one of the kernels they stopped forcing the second core on because it caused issues. In the end i truly believe it would be unwise to do so. Let the cpu do its thing. Im on bamf 1.02 and my second core kicks on when it needs to.

so it's wise to use setcpu over antutu? I'll have to try again since I usually get freezing using setcpu with all kernels. no oc nor uv. might just be a bad combo between undeclock and current governor
I just tried enabling both cores with system tuner pro and it worked but evening started going a little jerky. I disabled it again and everything was fine again.

Yeah forcing 2nd core online is a bad idea. Using setcpu, oc max 1.7 min 192. No profiles no uv. Using cpu usage monitor to view cpu usage.

The issue arises if you have a customs Kernel as in T-mobile version for example
I am on Adama003 Kernel and it is overclocked to 1.8 G and if you use both set cpu and Sleeper it won't keep the lower values and it will kick up to 1.8 upon reboot even though you say set it at 1.5.

MOD NOTE: IT APPEARS THIS KERNEL IS FOR 4.1.x ONLY. Flashing on 4.2 will result in bootloop. also, this kernel is unsupported by the OP, so thread is currently CLOSED
First and foremost, I would like to thank _motley for his kernel since this is based on his kernel. I chose his kernel because I have worked with him and IMO is the best kernel out there at the moment . Second, I would like to thank pinoyto and secret for testing the kernels. Also thanks to Koush, Blades, faux123, pershoot, chatch15117, all the Gtab, Asus Transformer and Motorola Atrix users, and other devs that I may have missed. BIG THANKS to my beloved wife for watching the kids while I do this.
I call this kernel elite since the timings are pretty aggressive and voltage are decreased on the low side and increased on the high side. This kernel might not work on your device because of these so be sure that you have a backup and and that you are familiar on restoring your device.
The following are the difference with motley's kernel
1. JRCU is implemented
2. Lowest backlight setting set to 5 (save battery and better reading at night, if you have screen flicker issue it will be more noticable because of this so I suggest covering the ground pin of wifi)
3. Core voltage increased from 1200 to 1250mv on the high side to hit 1.7 frequency and 600 GPU but decreased from 950 to 900mv on the low side.
4. Increased CPU voltage to 1240mv for 1.7 frequency but allows decreased 750mv in low side
5. Increased GPU clock to 600 and pixclock increased (please let me know if you have problems on screen due to pixclock increase but so far no issues on testers)
6. Built using gcc 4.5.2 ( I know, I'm an oldie)
7. DVFS core table completely changed to allow max clock of host1x and pll_c and hit most max frequencies.
8. Enable Thermal_Sys to throttle at 68 (BTW, if you are using system tuner, the reading is +10 as per secret)
Added 484 GPU and 520 GPU. LMK how it goes.

UPDATED 09/23/2012
Releasing another 1.8ghzCPU and 650mhz GPU
Here are the differences with the last 650gpu
1. Used Linaro compiler
2. Increased 3d/2d bus, pll_c, and host1x for higher scores
3. Removed the pixclock overclock, This is running on default pixclock by Asus. This will limit the fps to 60 fps max, so old benchmarks will not score over 100 fps but will only max at 60. I suggest newer benchmarks like GL2.5 or Benchmark 2.0 ES Taiji...
4. EMC voltage decreased to 1.100 mv (Not sure if your device can handle this but pinoyto's device was fine with it)

UPDATED 9/20/2012
*** SPECIAL RECOGNITION goes to PINOYTO for the first donation of this project. THANKS for rewarding my hard work!! ***
Thanks to masterg0g0 for 2nd donation
Also thanks to all the testers of the 700mhz GPU.
This latest kernel comes with the 1.8ghz CPU and 700 GPU with 3 types of pixclocks.
First off is the max pixclock. This has the highest pixclock of all the kernels and will limit your fps to over 100 fps. The downside is the pink screen issue.
https://rapidshare.com/files/901768617/1.8ghz700GPUMAXPIXoc.zip
Second is the mid pixclock overclock. If you have a pink issue on the first one, try this. This will limit your fps to about 90 fps. The downside is you might still have a pink screen
https://rapidshare.com/files/4017246162/1.8ghz700GPUMEDPIXoc.zip
Third is the NO pixclock overclock. This for sure will have no pink issue but will limit your fps to about 65 fps.
https://rapidshare.com/files/258377771/1.8ghz700gpuNOPIXOC.zip
Here are the changes made from this latest kernels
1. GPU increased to 700 gpu, vcore and vrail voltages increased
2. pll_c, host1x increased to accomodate the increase in GPU speed
3. Compiled using Linaro toolchain.
WARNING:
The timings in this kernel are very aggressive, voltages although within Nvidia limits are high. Please make sure you backup and be very familiar in recovering your device.

Updated 8/23/2012
This new kernel is based upon what I believe is the best overclocking speed (1.5 ghz) and a cpu nominal voltage of 1.150mv and a core of 1.175 mv (core default is 1.2) while lowering the lowest voltage of 750mv and 900mv respectively. This kernel hits the max speeds of the GPU at 600 while utilizing the lower voltages to insure better battery life and less heat. Also pixclock has been decreased to minimize pink issues on the screen Again, this might not run on all Nexus 7 due to aggressive lowering of voltages. HAVE FUN!!
Also make sure you have a backup and familiar with restoring your device.
BTW, if you like my work. Don't hesitate to DONATE and help me buy some diapers Thanks
Finally got the issue why most devices where not working right. Also was able to undervolt MORE because of this finding. Here are the changes
1. Vcore undervolted to 1.15 mv (default at 1.2) cpu mv at 1.15 mv running 1.5ghz
2. pll_c decrease from maximum (this was what was causing all the issue)
3. This kernel is set to 1.5ghz automatically. However if your ramdisk is programed to 1.3, then it boots to 1.3 intially. After pressing the power button once (or letting it sleep), it automatically resumes to 1.5 ghz without any CPU program.
I highly recommend that these settings be used for better battery life, LESS HEAT and power usage... Good for daily use

Very interesting. Thanks for making this. I already downloaded. Ill give this a go shortly. Ill make sure to delete data from system tuner to make sure no default voltages are saved from motleykernel.
I hope my device can handle the 1.7ghz, since you increased the top end voltages. With 1.7ghz and 600mhz gpu oc, I'm not expecting this to e old on battery. It's more like you said, pushing the limits of what we capable of. Wish me luck! Lol. Anxious to see how this benches. Did you add the I/o tweak and disable fysnc in this build? Or will running commands from motley thread do the trick? I'm notbsure if tkt app will allow fsync on faster if the file path tnot the same on this kernel.
Ill report back letting you know how it went

As for your fps scores, I'm not surprised with this being 600mhz gpu. Bit the crazy thing is our displays can't handle or really display more than 60fps.

yes,, your cpu isn't up to it, simple. With overclocking make small steps, note what you are doing, experiment with voltages, but all chips are different so experimentation is the only way, along with lots of reading and learning, skill aided by searching

you have to understand the fact that the kernel is in alpha stage, so if you dont know what you are doing you shouldnt have flashed it. and also all chips are not capable of handling higher frequency, 1.6 ghz should be asafe bet for all processors..
700mhz in siyah makes a big impact depending on the benchmark you run.. check the thrread in my sig for more info.
Thanks all for posts! I figured it out, I give more juice for all these steps for perseus alpha And not anymore reboots. 1.8 GhZ 1450mv 1.7GhZ 1400mv, 1.6GhZ 1350mV, 1.5GhZ 1300mV, I run now 1.7GhZ for dual core mode, I'll try soon run my phone quad core mode . But I can't overclock my gpu with perseus and siyah rom doesn't give me overclock more than 1.5ghZ DD so strange Ps: 1.7 GhZ Dual core My Cpu score is 8123 and memory 5538 on quandrant benchmark.
Edit: If my phone a little bit overheat it reboot same thing is 1.6GhZ, 1.7GhZ, 1.8GhZ. 1.6GhZ I run stability test about 1-2min and it reboot, Battery About 41 degrees Celsius :S
Why in the name of all that is holy would you overclock your CPU, and then run it in dual core mode??
You would be better off leaving it at 1.4ghz in quad core mode.
That seems pointless.

I will do later in the evening siyah kernel video for overclocking problem
hello, i am trying to make a kernel for samsung galaxy player 5.0 which has same cpu&gpu as well known gt-i9000.
I have successfully overclocked cpu from 1.2ghz to 1.6ghz but benchmark results on added frequencies are worse than at stock. But if I use tegrak overclock and set same freq and voltage as in my overcloked kernel, then everything is okay and benchmark results are much better.
any idea or you need more information?
about gpu, I changed it frequency in drivers/gpu/pvr/s5p110c/sysconfig.c but it doesn't give any benefits. what also should I edit/change to successfully overclock gpu?

Gpu overclocking is not working this way. Our gpu speed is linked to the main bus speed. To overclock the gpu, you need to overclock the bus (this is known as liveoc for the i9000).
Why CPU oc is not working, idk. Have you defined proper apll values for the added freq?

On Infuse, I found that somehow adding extra frequency steps could cause the device to get jammed at whatever the policy minimum was set.
I haven't had time to figure out why.
wow, big thanks guys :> gonna try without extra frequncies and try to overclock bus too (I have read that liveoc isn't as steble and generally is worse than normal oc)
