I know on the the tablet, I just long press on the screen to choose the text. Is there a way to do it with just the trackpad and/or mouse?
Hold down button on trackpad.
That worked but I can't seem to get Ctrl + C to work in a browser.

That is not a shortcut that works.
You have to remember, Android is made for touch. When you hook up the dock, the trackpad basically plays the role of your finger.
Just plugging in the dock doesn't make the Prime a normal laptop- instead it is a tablet with its bluetooth keyboard solidly attached. True "transforming" tablets that convert from a mobile OS to a real OS when docked are years away.
Honestly I think its cool Asus rigged the shortcuts we do have.
Control+V for pasting.....oi

found a great way to select text
Press alt the drag across screen where you want to select. I find it easier and more intuitive than double tap then select.
Dave
or you can select by hovering the "arrow" over the text/word you want to copy, then touch the touchpad with 2fingers (long hold), the text/word will be selected.

Standard keyboard shortcuts work fine with Android as long as you have a keyboard.
CTRL - A (Select all)
CTRL - V (Paste)
CTRL - C (Copy)
CTRL - X (Cut)
All of these work fine in Android, and within the Android browser. I just tested this myself with my own Prime & keyboard dock. You can also use the Menu button in place of the CTRL button.
Also in the stock browser:
CTRL - T opens a new tab.
CTRL - N opens a new tab.
CTRL - I zooms in.
CTRL - O zooms.
CTRL - H opens history
CTRL - P opens settings.
CTRL - L highlights the address bar text
CTRL - B opens bookmarks.
CTRL - J opens recent downloads
CTRL - F opens text finder
CTRL - W closes selected tab
CTRL - R reloads current tab
CTRL - S opens the "share" menu.
CTRL - 1 goes to the first tab (other numbers open other tabs, in order from left to right.)
All of these are keyboard shortcuts included in the stock Android browser and are not added by Asus. They are intended to work with products like Google TV which uses a keyboard interface, as well as bluetooth keyboards and phones that have built-in keyboards.
For the OP:
If you find it hard to select text by clicking on the screen and holding, using the trackpad, click at the beginning or end of the text you want to copy and then hold shift and move across the text using the arrow keys. This will highlight the text and then you can use the keyboard shortcuts above to cut/copy/paste.
I generally prefer a Keyboard and mouse as the controls for any kind of game I play.. So i decided to test out all the games I had installed on my phone with the keyboard and trackpad of my Atrix Lapdock
All tests were done in HDMI mirroring mode and on 2.3.5 hybid rom by peetr..
Here are the games which I found to be playable..
1. AirAttack HD. - Doesnt support keyboard input but you can drag around the plane with the trackpad
2. Amazing Alex - Can play with mouse just like you would a desktop version
3. Another world - all movements have keyboard bindings, tap with mouse click to shoot
4. Dragon,fly! - <enter> simulates screen press
5. GTA III - Almost everything works perfectly. Movement with arrow keys and actions with number keys. The aiming is a bit of a problem, you have to hold down the mouse button and drag the mouse. Very simple with an external mouse but problematic with a stiff trackpad button
6. Shine Runner - Ingame controls work perfectly with arrow keys. Menu has to be navigated with mouse.
7. Ski Safari - You can use clickpad as screen touch
8. Sleepy jack - everything works perfectly.. menu, game all of it. This prompted me to test this dev's other games, cordy and cordy sky and they too worked flawlessly with keyboard input
9. Sonic Ep2 - arrow keys for movement, 1 for jump. Have to navigate menu with mouse
10. Tetris by EA - arrow keys work just fine
11. Zen pinball - ctrl and shift for paddles. enter for ball launch.
These are the games i found completely playable of the ones I have installed. Some others worked but only partially, one of the essential functions didnt work, for eg, in sprinkle, arrow keys controls the water nozzle perfectly but there's no key to spray the water and it doesnt recongise mouse click as touch either so you cant press the onscreen button
If any of you test any other games and find them playable do post here, esp some nice racing or space sim.. I'm looking for a nice one..
I also had a question whil testing these games, If anyone could answer it, that'd be great. Don't any games support proper hdmi out. As in the phone screen should go blank(or just how controls) and the game is output on full res of the display out. All the games I tested just mirror the game screen and upscale the resolution on lapdock screen. Don't any of them work like the video players, ie phone screen goes blank and video showed on lapdock screen at full res instead of upscaling..
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.panda.mouse
I am using said application to play games on my Android TV box X96 MAX+ & 2 months now the experience has been great. I had bought both Panda Gamepad & Mouse applications for emulation & playing games.
While playing hitman with my mouse & keyboard (using Mouse Pro) I am unable to emulate sniper scope pinch zoom; is there any trick to do it?
If the game is played under any Panda application default* zoom keys as mentioned elsewhere do not function
*Menu + I: Zoom in, Menu + O: Zoom out
What's up people, I bring you a zip for some, the best thing is that I usually use Xbox Game Pass and PS Play remote and there is no Xbox Guide function or simply PS button, what I did is remap Home button and Capture button in case you want to use it like me.
To add the Home function as before I advise you Button Mapper Add the link, this way you have Button mode (Normal button, Double tap> example Home button> Long press > Turn off screen) Also with the capture Capture button (Normal button> Double tap Screenshot> Long Press> Play / pause music (?))

hi... thanks for your explanation, but can you go into a little more detail please?
Also, can you create the same zip file but with the A/B, X/Y buttons reversed, so that they mimic the xbox layout?
Thanks

I don't have the hori controller, but I guess it wouldn't be the same. even so. if you are affected with the d-pad it is probably a problem of S.O. or controller keymap.
Hi @Chiveta,
I installed the March 2022 OTA update and now the capture button of my Hori Split Pad Pro doesn't work properly. I can't program it anymore. All the other buttons work without any problems. I haven't tested it yet with other joy cons because I'm on holiday and I don't have them with me.
Can you please have a look and maybe update your script?
Thank you very much!
Update:
I edited the mapping files (changed the capture button to Z, C and 4) but it doesn't work.
I use a gamepad test app and it seems that the capture button is recognized longer than the other buttons, like it's kind of stuck.
Update 2:
I saw in the changelog that there's a new function to turn off RSMouse with the screenshot button. I think that's why I can't remap the button anymore.
The original zip file from Chiveta does not work anymore, but we can modify the Xbox Joycon Layout Zip file from "[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] switchroot Android 10". Just modify
\vendor\usr\keylayout\Vendor_057e_Product_2008.kl
and
\vendor\usr\keylayout\Vendor_057e_Product_2009_Version_8001.kl
to whatever key you want, and repack the zip file, and flash it in TWRP.
You can find all keys that Android supports from the official Android website:
https://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/KeyEvent
For example, I figured out "KEYCODE_BUTTON_MODE" will trigger Xbox Guide Button Long Press (pop up the screen to turn OFF the Xbox). So if you would like to map the screenshot button for this, just changed this line "key 309 MEDIA_PAUSE" to "key 309 BUTTON_MODE"
Remember, you do not need the "KEYCODE_" portion shown in the official Android website.
Or you can just use my zip file.
I have not figured out which button will trigger Xbox Guide Button Short Press (pop up user screen). If anyone figures it out, please let me know. Thanks.
hi i have a problem with undertale but also others if i had to use gamepad. is a small app that virtualizes a touch pad and is often used with dosbox. from the notifications you should press to display the pad but android 12 does not display this thing. the only way is to use "launch on exit" of another app called gamekeyboard + at that point the keyboard comes out in transparency and if undertale is already open then you can see it with the home keys open (closed the home / back / menu menu also closes the keyboard)
