Activate accessibility option and secure start at the same time - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Hi all,
apparently this seems to be a known bug (feature) of the S9, at least I found several reports on different forums, however without any solution so far.
The problem: It is not possible to activate both, the accessibility option for an app (e.g. for Nova Launcher, Tasker or BixBye) and the secure start / secure boot option (official name might be different - I'm talking about the option that requires you to enter your PIN / passphrase before your phone boots).
Whenever I try to enable one of the accessibility options, secure start is switched off.
Is there any workaround for that?
Thanks and cheers!
hunchi
/edit: I forgot to mention that I never experienced this problem on my S7.

On my AT&T S7 Edge, and my AT&T S9+, I just go into the Security Settings and turn Secure Startup back on. It warns that the accessibility services won't be available until the phone fully boots.

[BV Crown] Audio profile settings reset randomly

Hi guys,
I own a Blackview Crown with the latest SW released (20141015).
I noticed that randomly during the day the audio profiles and the data settings for the dual SIM management are reset to the default values.
For example: I set "screen lock sound" and "vibrate on touch" to OFF and they are set to ON automatically by the system.
In contemporary the bug affects also the data connection settings on the DUAL SIM management menu... it is switched from one SIM card to the other one (and this is the most annoying problem...).
Do you know whether this can be a known problem? Or maybe this is an Android bug?
I already tried to write to Blackview.hk but received no answers so far...
Thanks a lot for your help!!
PS you know whether there is a LOG that can be activated to understand what is happening? this issue does not happen during system reboot... it happens really randomly, every 1-2 days
I found that the settings reset is caused by the Android "POWER SAVING MANAGEMENT" function.
When the "POWER SAVING MANAGEMENT" function is enabled many services are stopped to save power (like data connection or ringtone volume for example). When the "POWER SAVING MANAGEMENT" function is disabled, the settings are set at the default values (such as "high precision" GPS or "vibrate on touch"). The customized settings are lost.
I do not know whether this is a Crown-related issue or it's common to all the Android 4.4.2 users.

[Q] Strange behaviour in Trusted Places in Smart Lock

I have a Nexus 5 with Google Play Services v. 6.5.99 and I'm getting some strange behaviour with the Smart Lock feature.
When I initially used the Trusted Places feature, I noticed that when I drove away from my home, the lock function didn't work automatically. This is also happening on my husband's Nexus 6. I don't think this is right and believe the phone should lock when you move away from the unlock zone.
However, the main problem I'm having is that the phone won't lock when I turn off the Home toggle and have no customised places set up. I also deleted a work address in Google Maps and so this option is naturally greyed out in Smart Lock Trusted Places. At one point, I played around with adding my home as a customised place and have since deleted it. I also changed my home address in Google Maps to my parents' address so I could test it when I was at my own home to see if the phone would lock. Nothing seems to work.
The only way I can get the phone to lock now is to disable the whole Smart Lock feature in Trusted Agents, otherwise I have a phone which won't lock. The exception is after a reboot - I have to unlock it once and then the phone stays unlocked.
Because of this, I can no longer use the Face Unlock feature either.
I've read that some people are finding they have to unlock their phone when it should be unlocked already but it's worse if you have no Trusted Places set and the phone won't lock. Does anyone else have this problem?
I too have the same problem with my Nexus. Only way to enable lock for me was to disable smart lock or turn the Location service off
Glad it isn't just me. I set my parents address as a customised place and the behaviour seemed to be as it should be when I went there. It appears that the problem lies with the Home trusted place.
I have the same problem although I've never used trusted places. I have a smartwatch setup as a trusted device, phone is a Nexus 6 rooted

[Q] Android 4.4.2, the security option "verify apps" keeps toggling itself on

[Q] Android 4.4.2, the security option "verify apps" keeps toggling itself on
I don't like a scan periodically scanning my apps in the background, so I wanted to turn it off, but even after toggling it off (in the main security page in the tablet's menu), it ends up toggling itself back on a few hours later without my consent. Is that a common issue?
I went on the google settings page as well and unticked the two options to verify apps and send analysis info, and the funny thing is that merely accessing that page without changing the settings (and when they are already unticked) will automatically toggle the "verify apps" setting in the main security menu on the tablet. Although even if I dont visit that page, leave them unticked there and have it unticked in the main security menu, it will still toggle itself back on a few hours later in the main security menu.
What's going on here? Is google pushing that option to be on at all time to scan your apps regardless of users choice?
Has no one heard or experienced this issue?
To the people reading this who are using Kitkat, does your "verify apps" in the general menu remains unticked for extended periods of time without ticking itself back on? If so, do you have the latest versions of google playstore and google services? (can you even use old versions of those anyway? mine seem to auto update despite me having auto update disabled in the play store)
Anyone has any idea what is causing my issue and how I could solve it?
I just noticed this happening to me. It seems that if I uncheck it, then run the play store app, "verify apps" is checked on again. I don't know how to keep it off.

Random Ads & Strange Behavior

Hey Guys -
I recently upgraded to a Galaxy S9+ and overall love it despite not being able to root. For the past couple of weeks, I've had a three very annoying issues though. I've tried many things to resolve, but so far can't figure out solutions. Below are thr issues and what I've tried to fix each. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
1. Random ads open in default browser (Firefox) no matter what I'm doing / what app I'm in
It doesn't matter what app I'm in, every 5 min or so Firefox opens on top of whatever I'm currently using without warning and displays an ad in a webpage. I use the Ublock tool in Firefox so sometimes it opens to a blocked webpage
What I've tried to fix:
- Closed all tabs, cleared history / personal data, then force quit Firefox
- Restarted phone
- Tried many malware apps like Malwarebytes but scans come in clean
- Uninstalled apps not installed from Google Play (only a couple)
- Put all apps not needed to run in background asleep
- Disabled notifications for apps I don't need
2. Display configs randomly apply
I have my screen set to turn off after 2 minutes and also have "always on display" enabled during the daytime which is different than simply leaving display on. Currently, though; after 2 min the screen just dims - that's it. If I hit a button to turn screen off it works, but if I place it on charger after doing this, the lock screen appears and it just Dom's after 2 minutes too. Basically, always on display only works after I press a button to power display off
What I've tried to fix:
- Verifying settings we're correct
- Setting configs differently then reverting them
- Disabled all MacroDroid / AutoMagic scripts
- Installed Greenify to put apps to sleep thinking one may be keeping device awake
3. Secure Startup Reverts
My work uses InTune and requires strict policies and settings in order for sync to work - one of these is Secure Startup where you must enter your passcode after reboot. Every couple of days or after a reboot, this setting Reverts from being enabled to disabled this making my phone daily compliance and stopping sync of work stuff. I must manually reenable it, then jump through hoops to get it compliant again. This has been an issue since I got the phone.
Any suggestions for any of the above?
Thanks!!
You could have a malware in your phone. When I had my note 8 I experienced something similar with the ads, it was very annoying. Long story short... I had to do a factory reset
I agree with TonyGzl92. It is probably Malware.
If the problem persist and you have deleted all installed apps and still get the problem you will ned to perform a factory reset and watch the phone after every app you install.
I had the issue with the screen just dimming instead of going completely off, and it was a conflict with an app I had installed. Pretty sure it was a Play Store app, but it's been long enough I no longer remember what app it was.

Google either choose simplification or flat out removed the setting. As for why in some sense it makes things simpler for developers and virtually most (not all obviously). Linked two articles out of the multiple google search results below that pertain to the question.
I maybe totally going out on a limb to guess (and I am, not something I am to fond of doing honestly) since GPS/Location services only turns on when it is needed maybe the option was unnecessary?
Granted the choice would be nice, but so far I haven't seen anything in my usage that shows GPS location is a battery killer. In fact I get a lot more active use out of my phone now as it is then I did previously on Oreo, which is rather nice IMHO.

fyi...
The option seems to be there.
On the Pixel phones you can enable it via "developer options" -> "featured flag"
Samsung decided to ditch this feature flag, why i don't know.
But with tasker and my unrooted S9 i could enable the battery saving mode.
Although you can't verify i think it works.
As i use Life360 which triggers the GPS when opened and haven't seen the GPS icon since i toggled to battery saving mode.
So as lomg as it works i'm happy.
Task:
Location Mode - > Mode: battery Saving
