I have an old galaxy s 4 from Verizon that I gave my mom. Since then I moved her number and my number to tmobile. She is having many issues with calls dropping and freezing. Can someone please tell me which firmware I can use for her phone ? I want something that is more compatible with tmobile and without the Verizon bloatware. Not rooted or themed. Just basic stock will do. Thanks guys.

You mean basic Samsung stock? That's Verizon stock and will have bloatware. To get rid of bloatware you will need root. I'm on the bootloader with GPL1 at the end (the latest firmware) and I used it with my AT&T SIM card no problem. Your mom's phone might just need a data factory reset, a firmware update, or you need to set the APN settings for T-Mobile.

After looking for a while I haven't found anything debloated except for custom roms but I think my mom will have a hard time learning what everything does. I guess I'll do it the hard way. Find a list of apps I can remove and do it myself. I'm going to try installing a fresh copy of the latest verizon software and remove all the useless apps. Remove the awful bootscreen and enter in the tmobile settings myself. How is it running for you? Do you have any dropped calls and freezing? That's what I'm most concerned about. Lol

I believe that you should be searching for a "TW" ROM for the I545...
TW ROM's are stock Firmware that's Debloated with some modifications (the modifications varies depending on the Developer).
Some of those have the word "Debloated" on the title of the thread but, most has this specified within the OP (1st Post of the thread).
Just keep in mind to read the OP instructions and such first and ask questions within the thread if you require additional support and member guidance.
Good Luck!

It was running okay, I didn't make any calls with it. I did do some texting though and it was fine.

Hey man. Thanks for your help. It turns out I couldn't flash a custom recovery on the phone because I had the bootloader locked so I basically removed all the bloatware from verizon, samsung and changed the boot screen to the proprietary Samsung bootscreen. I also changed the system audio files and the phone is buttery smooth. The only problem now is the I can't send texts. Even after I added a good apn and get 4g speeds. Do you have any input on that?

The only word of advice is to be very careful about what you uninstall...
What may look like Bloatware may have a dependency attached to it. In that case, freezing/disabling those with the dependency hook would be the best course of action.
I haven't needed to do this in a while and I don't have the Bloatware listing myself but, I believe that there should be one for this device somewhere on the forum.
Good Luck!

Question about number 8
I recently had to revert back to stock and mistakenly chose the root66 4.1.1 rom. I'd really like to get to VRAMC3 because i can't seem to get my bootloader unlocked (trying to get into recovery brings me to a not custom recovery) and I would like to get to the VRAMC3 4.1.2 ROM. Being on the root66 rom means that I'm rooted but i dont' think my bootloader is unlocked. would placing the recovery file on the root of my sd card mentioned in the OP help my situation or hurt it?
got a new note with latest firmware
I got this note 2 with VRUFND7 im pretty sure that's bad. what are my options? I would like to root it just so ican tether. I have unlimited data plan and would like to continue to use it. if there is any option besides foxfi that does not require you to lock your phone that would be great. That is really the only reason I want to root. any chance there will be an update soon to get around the locked boot loader?

No root method for ND7. Also, more than likely there won't be a bootloader upon method.
I have a SCH-I605 on ND7 with 4G. The service sucks. Prior to this, I had a SCH-R950 flashed to PagePlus with 3G and I got way better reception. My question is, how can I improve my 4G reception? Is there a updated radio file that I can flash?

Q1: How do I Root my LG G3?You should revert to ZV4 using Flashtool - see below.
OR
You can root ZVA using THIS Thanks to @l33tlinuxh4x0r - But be aware that most ROM's/Kernels are made for the ZV4 bootloader!!! You will have all ZVA partitions, so you may have issues.
On ZV4:
1. Your phone must have NEVER been Rooted before. Even if you've uninstalled SuperSu and removed all the files IT WILL NOT WORK!! It MUST be installed on a clean phone. ie Never Rooted, LGFlashtool - see below about this.
2. Root for us is in this thread. HERE
Version 1.2.0 is the most current - Hit "Grind" it'll more than likely say not supported, then hit "OK" and it will "Bruteforce" root to your phone, then reboot when told and it'll reboot again on its own.
Let it bootup, then install SuperSu, reboot and then uninstall Stump Root.
Version 1.0.0 was made specifically for the Sprint G3.
Q2: How do I unlock the bootloader? You must Root first with Stump, then we use BUMP
HERE is another option to install BUMP.
or

Our build prop is too large for most text editors. 920 text editor, works so you can get it from the Playstore. Make sure after modifying anything to set permissions. For the build.prop it's rw-r-r.

Nope. We're good to go on this one. Just be careful what apps you remove. Don't cut too deep.
What a lot of people are doing is freezing/disabling apps before they remove them.
Added questions Q5 - apps, Q6 - modifying build.prop and system files
Updated rooting instructions. Just made it more thorough.
Here's an idea for q8.
How do I get my QHD preloaded videos back?
The answer is... Restore your G3 with flashtool!
I accidentally deleted my QHD vids awhile back when I did a factory reset from stock recovery. I couldn't use someone else's vids because they have some kind of protection and can only be viewed on the device they came on.
I restored with flashtool the other day and when I was going through my gallery this morning I noticed that they are back.
I searched and asked everywhere trying to get them back with no luck.
---------- Post added at 06:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:29 AM ----------
I'd like to make another suggestion, if you don't mind.
These are common questions that someone would search Google for. It would be great if this thread popped up when someone searched Google for the answer.
My suggestion is to make each question specific to the G3 or LG G3.
Example.. Q3: How do I restore my LG G3 back to factory stock condition?
Just think about what you'd type into the Google search bar.
Excellent faq, please don't think I'm trying to be critical.

It's all good. I was the one asking for suggestions, so I don't think that at all.
The way XDA wants these FAQ's is to try and find the most common questions so as to limit the amount of new threads. I tend to take it a little further by providing links and other info that I think is helpful.
To answer your suggestions:
1. So far, I think you're the only one who wanted the QHD vids back. So I'm not being rude, but for now I'll leave it off. You, me and others that actually read these threads know how to fix this. (and this IS on the first page now). If it becomes a common issue, I will gladly add it.
2. I'm not positive about this but I think the tags at the bottom serve that purpose. I added a couple and I think anybody can do the same. I'll edit the OP just to make sure.
Thanks for the suggestions, and please don't think I was being critical. I was just explaining my position.
Added link for question #5 APPS removal list. Thanks to stas333

If you're on Sprint, Stump is our root method. And to unlock the boot loader, we all use Bump.
Stump and Bump are the names of the apps/methods.

Op updated with ZV6 info - There is no Root for it yet.
Flash one of the zips in Development.
I was wondering if there was a way to flash AT&T ROM to work on the verizon model. I know how to flash international Roms but not AT&T.
For example, currently I am running Echoe 32.1 (International version), but when I try to flash Goldenfinger (AT&T) my phone calls work but I get no SMS or data.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!
Someone with ROM building (from source or porting) experience can better explain this, but the simplest answer is that because the frequencies that AT&T and T-Mobile operate on differ from those of Verizon and Sprint (typically). So the ROM you are trying to use has different radio drivers for frequencies your phone doesn't use, which results in most or all your antennas to not function. I know that at the very least you need to modify the ROM to utilize the Verizon radios. There may also be some system configurations to be altered in the install of the ROM so it's instructed to use the right frequencies, though a more qualified individual will need to verify that.
Hope that gives you a general idea.

This patch can be used to flash roms from international and other carriers. It has an aroma installer allowing to decide how much Verizon stuff you want to install, anywhere from just the APN's to the full phone & messaging apk's. Read the OP and thread to understand which patch to use and how to use it.

Yeah, unfortunately things have been weird with that patch lately. It's a mix of the dev not having time to update while everything has been getting significant updates pretty quickly and lost user interest overall. I've used that patch with AT&T roms before, but admittedly not since Jelly Bean. It should theoretically work still, but there's other variables you have to consider. All I can say is that if you're really interested in running one of those roms, read through the patch thread to see what particular aroma settings and additional zips, etc. people are using to get those roms to boot.
And Safestrap users can use that patch too. I would PM @shindiggity for assistance. He seems like a helpful guy and he uses that patch on Safestrap.

Thank you for all your help! Im gonna PM him and read through the thread and if and when I find a solution, I will post it here.
I've flashed Goldfinger and it does work. These are the steps that I do. Flash rom, patch, signal bar fix, modules and finally SU. In the patch I select minimal and everything else I leave pre selected. First boot does take a couple minutes. Let me know if that works.

Q&A for [ROM] Barren - Odexed & Deodexed
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [ROM] Barren - Odexed & Deodexed. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

Are you asking because you're curious? Or learning?
If you're curious, I dd'd fresh from Flashtool.
If you trying to learn, pm me and I'll help out with what I can.
Would a dirty flash work?

Is there anyway to restore the LG Health app? I tried using TB to restore it from stock rom, it shows it as being restored/re-installed but I can't access it or use it? Wasnt sure if there were other necessary files needed that I'm missing. Thanks!

I'll make a flashable zip in the next few days for people that want to add Lg, Sprint stuff back.
It'll be in post #2 of the ROM thread. I'll also hopefully be posting flashable updates there too.
Any chance this rom will work with d851?

It's a Sprint ROM, so probably not. Yet.
We're all in the learning phase of flashing these G3's, so it'll take a little time to see if it'll work with most of the other G3s, which are all built for GSM.
Sprint is built for CDMA with an option for GSM. Hopefully that makes sense?
I guess you could try it, but you may end up using Flashtool, and hopefully don't end up with a brick.

Is this a newer version than the stock deodexed you had up? Im running that. Anything new in this or just the name?
Nevermind. I see now.

Okay, I'm curious. What happens if we do select internal in the TWRP wipe menu? I understand not to wipe external, and I moved my TB folder there and confirmed TWRP backups are there as well. Does an internal wipe also wipe the external via symlinks or something?

Internal wipes your internal SD. If you have nothing you need there it's fine.
Usually there's something there you forgot about. That's my case anyway.
Or if you have different roms you restore to, they may need files from there.

I wished I know for sure the answer. I would say it wouldn't. But if you have stock working already, then maybe it will.
My little warning just in case, If it doesn't work you may end up having to use Flashtool to fix it, or with a brick. I can't be held responsible.
But, if you do decide to try it and it does work, would you mind sharing that carrier folder? If that's all we need to get this thing GSM I'd be really happy.
Good morning!! That what i did for the gsm stock rom [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/unlock-sim-gsm-how-to-t2853594" and works i had low signal but i change the network mode with shortcut master to 1800 and everything ok!! By the way i ll make a full back up and try it maybe tomorrow and i ll post you back the results thanks for the answer
everything ok!!!! i installed the deoxed rom from engine95 and works greatt!!! and the most important i have gsm signal without do anything more !!!! the only problem i had was with the activation screen i did the trick with the buttons volume up and down power button and back without wifi asked me for pin code accept had signal but still activation screen reboot with wifi this time did again the trick and after 5 minutes told me activation failed and the menu pops up
the rom is faster and smoother the volume is louder and i see a difference in camera quality the photos are cleaner and sharper
the only strange thing is that i did wipe and advance wipe but i still have my photos and my music!!!( i have no sd card)
thanks a lottt!!!
Barren ROM
After installing Barren ROM, how can I find out if the original bloatware was reduced. I read in some threads that after installation of this ROM the original bloatware was reinstalled.

They made mistakes. I think they forgot to read the op and wipe/system. As far as I've heard, it's bloat free.
Believe me you'll know if the bloat gets installed.
Title says it all. I tried using shortcut master lite, but I need to be root. Is there anyway I can get my carrier features without tripping knox/becoming root user? I have a samsung note 8. This is pretty annoying. I read somewhere that they were able to update the user data file with odin. Was wondering if that caused any issues.
Thanks again

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to post this question within the following thread that's specific to your device.
