Phone won't charge battery on 8.x ROMs (including MIUI10 betas) - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi everybody, my phone has a weird issue:
* Phone is recognized in fastboot mode by the PC, doesn't matter the Android version installed in the device.
* Battery lasts as if the phone was new. 10 hours of SOT, 2 full days of using the device.
* If I Install MIUI 9 (based on Android 7.x) or a custom ROM based on Nougat, the phone works and charges normally
* BUT If I install MIUI10 (based on Android 8.x) or any custom ROM based on Oreo, the phone works and charges normally; after 2 or 3 days the phone doesn't charge anymore while powered on, and the phone is not recognized by any PC. If the phone is powered off and connected to a charger or computer, it shows the battery animation but the percentage never goes up. Some times if you connect the USB cable and reboot the device, it detects the cable but doesnt charge. (Ampere shows the device as "connected" but "not charging").
Every time that this has happened, I solved it returning to the latest MIUI 9 stable ROM using MiFlash, the problem dissapear and it works and charges flawlessly. But every time I install a 8.1 rom, including the MIUI10 Global Developer ROM, the problem returns after 2 or 3 days.
Tried replacing wall chargers, tried changing USB cables, tried with different computers. Hardware doesn't seem to be the problem here (at least the chargers, cables and the usb por "per se").
What is happening? Anyone else is having this problem?

Flash Latest Firmware
Flash the latest firmware 8.7.19/8.7.12 or at least 8.4.19.
Flash any of this firmware before flashing custom roms and u'll be good to go.no problems will occur..i' ll also suggest to make a miui stable fastboot flash (of course with 'clean all' option) before flashing any custom rom.just give a fresh try.there will be no problem.

[Galaxy SII I9100G]USB port issue-Unable to charge the battery when its switched on.

Hey Guys,
I have a I9100g device with rooted, latest JB 4.2.1 Android. I have used ICS, JB 4.1.1, JB 4.1.2 and a couple of CM nightly builds for the last 2 months. For all the upgrades, device was working fine as expected. Now I have a problem with the USB port which is not recognized by PC/charger. So I am not able to charge the battery and to connect to the PC. But I am able to charge my battery when its switched off.
So I believe physical USB port works fine but some drivers may block the usb port after loading Android. Also I am not able to use Odin and hence unable to load Samsung stock version back to the device. USB is not recognized in its download/recovery modes and lsusb command under unix shows nothing about this device.
I have tried different firmwires (CM, SuperNexus) after this problem, but none of the firmwares fixed the issue. I have cleaned the usb port too.
Please help me to fix this if you ever came across same issue.
Did you ever fix this? I'm having similar symptoms, except that mine won't *always* charge when turned off, just sometimes. I'm pretty sure mine is a damaged port or connection.

[Help] Redmi Note 3 Pro cannot charge or connect to PC as USB, only FASTBOOT work

Hello. My Redmi Note 3 SD run CM14.1 with kernel Radon 3.5. It run smoothly for a month until 3 days ago. It cannot be charged as well as cannot connect to PC as USB (PC cannot recognize it). For half a day after that, the phone suddenly returned to be normal as nothing happened. And today, the same error happened again. I tried plugging it in through fastboot mode and it worked. So I thought It would be software error, I used Miflash to flash MIUI Global stable 7.1.5 with the hope that it can fix it. But not. It successfully flashed to MIUI but the problem is still here
Is there anybody got the same problem? Can anybody help me? Please!!!
p/s: Sorry for my weird English, I'm not a native speaker.
Try this:
The problem might be with your USB cable and/or your phone's micro USB port (worst case, your phone's motherboard/IC - let's hope that isn't the case). Try using different Mi USB cable or different device with the same model to find the fault. Make sure you have the required drivers installed. Hope this helps.

Phone not charging

I had flashed LineageOS on my OnePlus X a month ago, using TWRP. Today, when I tried to charge my phone, it wouldn't charge! I tried using chargers other than the original charger also, but to no avail. Even connecting the device to a PC didn't help.
Then, I reflashed the factory image (i.e. Oxygen OS) after performing a factory reset via TWRP. Since then, I am only able to charge the device through a PC and a portable battery pack, but NOT through any wall charger.
Is this a common and known issue? If so, what are the fixes for the same?
Try another cable or charger.. make it possible to use original stock charger..

My poco f1's usb port/software is f****d

So, this is after searching for around 7-8 hours for a solution. My poco f1's usb port is somehow broken. By broken, I mean it charges perfectly fine, but will not get recognized by any other device (tried 3 different pcs, both ryzen and intel).
About 4 months ago i bought my poco f1, and installed lineageOS as soon as i could. Had some hiccups, but in the end everything was fine.
About 3 days ago I ended up trying to switch to pixel experience rom, since people were enjoying that more than lineag. I ended up getting an error saying i needed firmware from MIUI 9.2.15 or something. Alright, I'll just flash miui and then flash pixel experience... right? Well, apparently this also overrides twrp recovery and makes it boot into xiaomi's useless miui recovery. This makes it so that you cant get back into twrp without a computer. Great, now I guess ill just connect it to my pc... annnd... nothing.
Enabling every usb debugging setting, changing the usb networking to file transfer, rebooting, factory resetting and repeating everything leads to a dead end. Tried 4 different usb cables with absolutely no results. Tried 3 different pcs, nothing. And after all this, the phone charges completely fine as if nothing is wrong. The device isnt rooted either, meaning i cant manually boot into twrp using their app.
My device's bootloader IS unlocked, leading to my only possible solution i can think of: achieving root somehow since the bootloader is unlocked and downloading the TWRP app and rebooting into twrp. Or i should just yeet this on ebay and get a new poco.
Help?

Maybe your usb port is broken, but if you have root you can flash twrp using apps such as flashify. Won't be much use since usb might be broken. Try going to a service center nearby to get it fixed.

Yup. Tried everything. Still not detecting
Are you using the cable that comes out of the box ?
Some third party cables don't transfer data.
(Can be the case for deteriorated cables too)
If You trying with Windows make batch file for example:
c:\usb-fix.bat
@Echo off
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\usbflags\18D1D00D0100" /v "osvc" /t REG_BINARY /d "0000" /f
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\usbflags\18D1D00D0100" /v "SkipContainerIdQuery" /t REG_BINARY /d "01000000" /f
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\usbflags\18D1D00D0100" /v "SkipBOSDescriptorQuery" /t REG_BINARY /d "01000000" /f
Start cmd as Administrator and restart PC, then will work on Windows.

PC does not detect Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (even on TWRP)

Hello
I made a thread on reddit in the subreddit of my ROM (/r/LineageOS/comments/cccbtu/pc_does_not_detect_xiaomi_redmi_note_4/) regarding my issue and they recommended that I come here (I hope that's the right place.)
In summary, the notification that usually shows when I plug in my phone, to change the USB configuration from charging to MTP, does not show.
I've tried everything I can think of (different ports, PCs, cables, etc.) and nothing seems to help.
"adb devices" shows no devices both on normal boot and TWRP. The only thing the cable does is charge.
I'd be very happy to fix it.
Thank you!
First it's a software issue so the hardware is fine
Second i suggest getting an sd card with the official stock rom on it (version 10.1.1.0) to fix the reading error since it can't be readed even on twrp
If the problem still presists
I suggest to change the cable or the phone socket
Try another cable then see
