I went to sleep last night while my phone was on 35% battery. In the morning the phone was dead, I was shocked, charged it up and checked battery consumption and found this (check the image) media.metrics drained it! What is this and how to solve it? View attachment 4561092

I had the problem yesterday; deleted everything in my downloads folder and it went away. Check there for any funky files.

Hello all,
I unplugged my fully recharged GSII last night and set the alarm for the morning and slept. I woke up in the middle of the night, about 2 hours since I unplugged the phone and realized that it only had 78% of battery.... I've had enough battery to use for 2 days without hooking it up..
I was quite shocked to see this... but then I saw this app called "wi-fi sharing" just draining the phone's battery. It drained it down so much that when I woke up in the morning the battery was down to 50%.
What IS this monster? I have it frozen at the moment..

Classic AT&T bloatware... It's some filesharing thing, it's different from wifi tethering...
Just took the update and battery life dropped significantly. I was running stock rom, rooted, and kernel with CWM. I could use the phone quite a lot and it would last all day and still have 25%-30% left after being off the charger for 17 hours. I flashed the stock kernel and performed the update yesterday. I charged the phone all night. I was off work today so I didn't use the phone at all. After 15.5 hours, the low battery notification sounded. The battery meter showed I only had 11% remaining. The main culprit was the "Android OS" at 77%. Display, which is normally the main power drain, was only 6%. This shows how little the phone was used.
I believe its Entropy who has a thread that has really helped me. Could be a rouge app. Do you have better battery stats?

What app(s) can I get that will actually show what is pulling the power on my battery? Last night I went to bed with 85%. This am I woke up and lost 25%! Nothing was synching - turned everything off - so something is working in the background or draining my battery.
You can try better battery stats.

I was in England last week and I noticed on the last 2 days my battery not only drained itself much faster than usual, but it also recharged slower. When I got back home, I noticed if my phone was plugged in, and I used it, it still lost battery! I use the original charger, one thing I noticed after my trip though, was the two "blades" we plug in were closer to each other (they weren't parallel anymore) I kind of pushed them back to place but anyone can see the blades are slightly moved
Please help me auick this is very important!
EDIT : Usually I recharge my phone from 23h to 6h45,but today I noticed it only recharged when the phone is Off, and very slowly, it only made it to 51% merely adding the sentence cost 2% of battery while docked..

Probably the battery itself is dying?
S3 should be filly charged within 3,4 hours in most.
Or you may need to recalibrate your battery?
I have been into some situation like this:
1. 10% charging, after one time reboot it goes up to 50%, just in minute.
2. Battery from 95% drops to 50% with rate of 2% - 3% per minute.
What I do: drain battery to 0% and start fully charged it into 100% and then it seems to be fine through...

Have had this phone for about 2 - 3 weeks. Starting yesterday, I noticed the battery draining abnormally fast. I am not using any email client other than gmail. So basically, nothing in my routine changed. I didn't install any new apps, or started using any apps that I wasn't using before. Essentially, out of the blue, my battery is draining like crazy now. I had to recharge it mid day yesterday, had about 30% left before going to bed, woke up and phone was dead.
This is the s6's battery..i go out at 8 and at 12 my phone shuts down..buy an external pack and youll be fine

The reason I made the thread is because the battery was fine for me until a couple a days ago, now it drains 30% over night and I can barely get through half a day on light use. One problem after another with this phone. I guess I have to do a factory reset.
Booting into safe mode could tell you if the fast drain was caused by a rogue app.
