It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 before depleting the battery.

I am so happy with the battery life, it is so good after Note 8. This is the result after 4 days of usage with Note 9

guess that can't hold on for one day , although i don't have one .
This screen on time is pretty similar to what many get in Note 8 . So reviewers r right, there is very little or marginal battery life improvement as compared to N8 .

There are no reviews out. Just first impressions. And most are crap. Android Pit just posted on article where he got 9 hrs of SOT over the weekend. That is pretty damn good if that keeps up.
Note 9 seems to gain 1+ hour only of screen on time compared to note 8. Regulary my Note 8 when it reaches 30% my SOT becomes 3.30 at max brightness (seems like note 9 SOT becomes 4.30 SOT). My note 8 with optimisation delivers me 6.30-7 hours SOT with 16 hours usage (using both wifi and mobile data).
Its predictable since battery is 20% increased only.
Next year they should pull 5000 mah. Still good job, sammy.
I am pretty sure those who optimize there phones will gain more than this.

My point exactly there are no reviews out yet! Toms guide is not reliable at all!
Well come on 700 Mah more won't give you 2 hours SOT. Impossible. If your Phone lasts all day long (like me I get 6.30-8 Hour SOT in 16 hours period with black theme and optimization). Then no reason to upgrade, specially with barley any camera improvements or ui changes.
Josh from Android authority reported 5 hours SOT while taking too many pics during his day.

Nobody knows until it is in the hands of people and reviews come out from legitimate sources. So far I seen a huge improvement from different reviewers on Twitter who posted screenshots. Either way, if you don't want to upgrade that is fine. Nobody is forcing you too.
Also, Joshua Vergara had 40% left after that. So at least be honest!

Bro., no point in getting angry. Would love to buy N9, but trying to ascertain facts before i spend 1000 plus Dollars on this one. Everybody has the right to find & discuss facts and decide . Some facts may eventually turn out to be propaganda, maybe positive or negative. So, relax and lets try finding out facts, we are not pronouncing any judgements here and moreover, no body is going to listen to me or you if we praise or post negative about N9, everybody has the sense to Google or maybe look for actual life reviews and decide .

Pretty cool but not impressive considering you can get the same battery life on Note 8 (6.30-8) with black theme and optimisation. Note 9 seems to give you 1+ more screen on time than the note 8 as expected from 20% battery increase.
The Note 9 had 15% battery compared to a dead s9+.
It all comes to day to day usage.

So I was planning on buying the s3 but I can't seem to make my mind up on it. There are a lot of reasons why I can't decide. It's not in my budget but adding $100 dollars will do the trick. Anyway, is it worth the price? is it future-proof?(I've read that manufacturers are developing full-hd res screens but who needs it?) How long will it last til dev support abandons it?
I'm the kind of user who's really in to multimedia and tweaking and I want this phone to last two years until I buy a new one. So can anyone recommend me this phone or recommend something else? What do you think?
P.S. I own an O2x right now and I love it but devs aren't supporting it much right now and I just bought this phone last november(which is a really bad step for me considering the fact that it's a year old in the market and i think the processor won't last). Thanks for your help in advance!
Wait till the new nexus comes out, and then see how the comparisons stack up.....but the bottom line is today's technology is always yesterday within 6-12 months.....I thought long and hard but then I happened to go on eBay and got my S3 for £390 brand new, 500 in the shops, so I'm happy

It's the best phone you can buy right now. Dev support is strong as the phone is extremely popular. The galaxy s 2 was and still is today a huge seller with great dev support and this phone is no different.
Future proof? It will still be a good phone in two years. Sure other phones would have come along with better spec but it will still hold its own.
I for one have a compulsion when it comes to phones, I've replaced many over a short period due to shortcomings in one area or another. This is the first phone I'm really happy with and might actually keep for at least a year.
Not much in the horizon anyway in terms of android phones. The only competition to this beast is the one x and that thing is good but no removable battery or expandable storage and battery life also sucks compared to this.

how does your s3 feel in processing power? I read that theyre laggy at times but not most. I want to know what I can get for the money before i invest on this phone
Low bench mark scores , app monitor missing, no social hub alot of stock apps not there. Google wallet not supported yet. It eats up memory ram pretty good but over all it's pretty good solid phone.

For me it`s not laggy at all, i rooted the phone and flashed Siyah 1.3.8a and undervolted 50 Mv. It`s running stable, fast and has good battery life. But out of the box the phone is also good. It also depends on how many apps and widgets you have installed and are running in the background.

Running slim here as I don't care for Samsung gimmick apps and it rocks, super fast, stable, just had 7+ hrs screen on....totally happy coming from S1, as usual Samsung software causes all the problems...No lag, no fc, no moans....just joy, joy, joy

Developer support for the galaxy s1 is still as good as the s3's so it's safe to say that the s3 will continue to be supported for several years.
There will be no next-gen phone until next year. Any phone released this year could only hope to be better in terms of ram. Nothing else.
The s3 will last until at least 2015.

First uninstall your task killer, it`s not a solution but a problem. It messes up android task management and causes lags!
Second it off course depends ho many apps/widgets you have running in the background.
Third don`t say stuff to and about users that you are not sure about or do not know.

You plan on a AOSP based ROM? If yes, know that every ROM that not based on stock fw will have worse battery, no matter the device, no matter how optimized it is (unless the stock was a absolutely ****).
If I realize the performance is worse with CM I'll look into stock Roms. But that is not the question.
Does nobody know of a professionally done Test that includes Battery performance compared to other tablets?

Generally all reviews I've read so far report between 7 and a half and 8 hours of very intensive use (gaming, web surfing, FullHD video playback), being web surfing the most consuming. With moderate use, it seems it'd last good two days, especially with Stamina Mode on. I'll report first-hand once my unit is shipped.
Greetings.

For those of who play ingress you will be aware of the heavy load it gives to the phone/battery.
I was wondering if any of you have tried this game yet on the Z Ultra? How has it been? Any Gps issues? Battery ok?
I`m just curious really, looking forward in trying this out when I upgrade but considering my options at the moment.

Battery usage on the Ultra is pretty good. Its massive screen is obviously the biggest drawer of current. On a movie boot loop I got 6 hours. So with Ingress, I would expect similar results.
As far as the iPhone goes... my last iPhone was the 4S. It had the same battery performance as i got on my Galaxy S4. So apple don't have the advantage in battery.... in fact i switched to android because i couldn't see any advantage in staying apple..
I haven't played ingress on the Ultra.. only on the S4.
I want to know this too
I play ingress on my Note 2 with a build-in 3400 mA/H orginal size battery (instead 3100) for up to 6 hours. (I use a great custom rom, normal use without ingress is 3 days)
The ultra .... is a nice take away tv-screen phone great display but I think you can't play more than 2 hours ingress. the batery has only 3000 mA/H. The note 2 looks so tiny near the ultra
My main concern really is how the GPS acts with this game, since it is gps orientated. I have a back up battery pack (like most players) but would like to know how the gps performs. #
I heard someone ran into some issues with the Note 3 and gps but wasn't sure if that was user / location specific.

Huawei did it again and came with a brand new high end device in 2017, this time it's the Huawei P10. So what is your thoughts about this phone? Feel free to discuss anything on this thread ( battery life, experience, help if you need it and more), have a nice day all :good:
I think I'm going to buy the P10 - I've previously owned a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge but found it too big - the P10 Plus is even bigger. Shame, as I'd like the enhanced camera and better screen. The P10 does look pretty nice though and the camera should be excellent. I wonder what colours we'll get here in the UK?

Got it last night. No idea what has changed as the description was very vague. Only 250MB or so.
At the launch we were told our models had pre-release software and some portrait functions in the camera were coming soon, but I can't remember exactly what.

I know it's early days, but I am finding the battery life on the P10 to be far better than the Mate 9. The Mate 9 obviously has the bigger display, but with such a big difference in battery you might still assume it would have the edge.
I did a phone clone so everything on the Mate 9 carried over, so they're both effectively running the same stuff. However, I'm using the P10 more than the Mate 9 which is often in standby.... so it becomes even more odd.
I will have to do some proper tests, but irrespective of the comparison aspect, I think the P10 battery life is exceptional. The Mate 9 is great too, but this is something else!

You can share some battery stats later here if you like :good:
What do you think about this article : "
That's because there's no oleophobic coating on the actual display of the P10 — at least on the review devices we were given in Barcelona last week. An oleophobic coating may sound obscure and technical, but it's a staple feature of all but the cheapest smartphone screens. This nanocoating, usually applied to the glass during manufacturing, repels oils — like the kind on your face and fingers — and stops the display from looking like it's been used as a pizza slice after you've been tapping, swiping and calling. "
Is the phone a finger print and smudges magnet?

UK. Got mine at the same event as Recombu and Trusted. My review is pending still.
I'm finding the battery excellent, with Doze working fine (some say it doesn't). I did install AnTuTu to benchmark the phone and that seemed to keep running (never seen that before) and caused problems, so I removed it.
I wonder if they've downloaded that?
As I said before, I did a phone clone from my Mate 9, which has a nice setup of apps that are kept running and closed. So perhaps I've tweaked my P10 a lot more than others.
I've even got so used to the new fingerprint sensor that using my Mate 9 (or indeed any phone) now feels odd. Took just one week to master it!
I hope to have my in depth review done any day now. Need to take more photos and will be in London all day tomorrow with the P10, P9 and Mate 9 for comparisons.
Can you share the link of the stored firmware?

I think they did use Antutu. I saw one reviewer showing his battery stats and Antutu was at the top. So i guess That was the one causing the problem.
Yeah, i was thinking that maybe they just had a rogue app causing the drain since everybody uses their phones differently. Because, for me, 20% drain overnight is too much just because Doze didn't work.
I was also a little bummed that they moved the fingerprint sensor to the front but it's not really a big deal.
I eagerly await for your review!
Why should I choose a P10 ? G6 is water resistant, has a bigger screen and makes better photos ?

I have managed in under a week to get really used to the new fingerprint sensor. I always said I preferred it on the back, and this is the only phone I own that has it at the front - but it's VERY easy to get used to. I am sure you would too.
It's ironic that Samsung is moving its fingerprint reader to the back, and who knows what Apple will do.
AnTuTu was causing real problems, and brings up the warning about excessive drain. It shouldn't be doing anything when not running, but it seems to run itself. I wonder if there's something dodgy going on there (always rumours about AnTuTu taking bribes to boost scores). I hope not!

I can't answer that. I really liked the G6 at MWC. Awesome display and feels nice in the hand (not too thick) but I'm not hearing great things about the battery on that, although the reviewers have pre-release models (like the P10) and there was an update yesterday. Too late for some reviewers who already gave their phones back.
Hopefully I'll get a final release model and can compare. I've always liked the camera on the LG's since the G4. The G5 camera was great, but I hated the phone. The G4 had HORRIBLE battery life. The G6 may well be the phone that turns things around for LG, or it may not (for example, LG are pathetic at spending money on marketing). Huawei on the other hand seems to have a bottomless pit of money right now.
This is a very impressive result, good job LG, I'm only wishing that u11 was also in this test but oh well

Thank you! I just sent that to a friend whose LG G4 battery is bad. He's considering the V30, but also mentioned the Note 8 and even iPhone 8 (which I don't understand).

Another battery test win for the V30.

Hell, all made it over 8 hours. That's a win all around.

But you are posting with your V30.
And your point??

Wow, the V30 beat everything except iphone 8+ With excellent recharge time to boot.

The V30 battery is okay. It's not the best I've seen in a device but it charges so fast, that's hardly an issue for me.
IPhones do generally get good battery life, I've got a 7 Plus as well as my V30. However, it takes forever to charge it. Even using the iPad charger.

I just got rid of an iPhone 7 and it had the worst battery of any phone I've ever owned. It was my first and last iPhone. Glad I'm coming back to Android with the V30

I had a iPhone 7 in between the S7 and s8+, iPhones are junk. That's a fact, not an opinion either. ?

I went through three SE models with logic board issues, 6s with battery recall, 6 that got bent in my purse, 5s that had dead pixels like crazy out of the box. It all got topped off by my 7 Plus having the Intel modem and I got practically no signal... Anywhere!

Sorry for your kinda bad experience with v30, but judging from the videos and articles people share, v30 has the best battery life among the phones that came out this year. Maybe you need to disable or uninstall some battery draining apps

I just found this review today, the first one I saw saying the battery life is a cons
https://www.pcmag.com/review/355846/lg-v30
The 3,300mAh battery is disappointing. We only got 4 hours, 46 minutes of LTE streaming (full-screen video at maximum brightness) on one battery charge, much shorter than with competing phones. The Galaxy S8, for instance, lasts 5 hours and 45 minutes, and we consider that to be merely average. Most new phones will get you around 7 or 8 hours.

Different tests give different results and it could be a device with a bad battery... idk

Hmm [emoji848] that's very surprising. Majority of reviews actually mention how great the battery life is, most say it's way better than note 8 for example. Yet again like you said, different test might have different results. But for me actual mobile phone websites and reviewers are more trustworthy

I'm trying. It's been a while since I've run Android as my daily driver. Each time I come across a suggestion to save battery, I'm changing it. I always got good battery on my Note 3 but it was never stock. For some reason I can't get Facebook to stop pushing notifications, I've got them blocked in the app settings and on the phone. I'm about to delete this crap!
Yeah, facebook is one of the most battery and ram consuming apps [emoji19] I hope you can find your perfect set up on your v30

I never ever run FB as an app. I load it up as a page in the browser and then don't let it push browser notifications. Out of all the things on the internet, I trust FB the least.
