Hello Guys,
I figured out to make my notifications background black, but I am no developer and would like to ask for your help.
There must be a way to change/edit the text color within the "theme.xml" of com.android.systemui in the theme.
As you can see the text color is still black, on black ground (green box)
In addition I wonder what .xml or .png file this white thing is in com.android.systemui, can you tell me? (yellow box)
Last thing, the action buttons text, is there also a way to change it? (blue box)
Thank you for your support :good:

I modified following files within com.android.systemui/res/drawable-xxhdpi within the theme (hwt):
notification_bg_normal.xml
notification_guts_background.xml
notification_guts_bg.xml
notification_header_bg.xml
notification_icon_background.xml
notification_material_bg.xml
notification_material_bg_dim.xml
notification_expand_more.xml
and
actions_container_background.xml
actions_container_background_bottom_right_angle.xml
Change the filetype by renaming into png instead of xml.

Rename it in xml
I found the two additional files for the action field (blue box)
But how do I change the textcolor? :/

Not possible in emui themes cause theme.xml dnt support some directory the text you need (i mean in an apk) is located in systemui/res/values/styles and in framework-res in values/style again .unfortunately the emui theme manager dnt support this directory then darck background is easy but light text is impossible.....so no.
The only way for non root users is Andromeda app from playstore (substratum)

Hmm. I read something like that already before but your explanation was much better. But impossible is a hard word. Isn't there any other way to add the directory and Support to the theme?
I also read about and tried substratum, but according to all Information I got, this is not possible on EMUI. Is this right?
Thank you

Hmmm, where do you have this information from?
All I found was, that it is not workng on EMUI devices. Also I did not find any reliable instruction how to install it step by step? Because doing something wong is easy when you don't have clear instructions
And what do you mean by "payd", is there also a free version? Did not find any.

OK thank you, I will look it up.
But I would rather use my theme than trying to get andromada to work. The only thing that annoys me , are these big white fat notification boxes.
I just can't imagine there is no way to edit the textcolor

Hello I wanna show you my work for our legendary gt540
You can see 4 folders (4 types of animations) and 3 files in each folder:
gb_animationsname - version with black menubar
gb_animationsname_white - version with white menubar
Watch animations - lil' preview
Now if black menu versions makes your phone loops or fcs you should install white version. If you would like to know why you can not get black version, my answer is: sorry your ROM does not support edited xml files - unknown reasons.

You have installed ROM via recovery probably, so reinstall via fastboot then try my theme.
I've got bootloops... maybe it's because i use the stock black theme from cyanogenmod setting?
I installed the latest openswift rom via fasboot though.. one note that when i tried to wipe dalvik cache, i've got errors: cant mount bla bla mmcblck (like error when u try to apply app2sd) and then in next line it says (File Exists)... is it supposed to be like this?

Works perfectly. Thanks man n keep up the good work!!!
@m1st3r1 got the same errors it's about 'android.secure' folder from SD, delete manually. But it's not a problem, I've installed ROM via fastboot too.

and a few phones supports it, other doesn't
So for those who has problems I created other version, but with white menu bar. Sorry there is no other way it's your phones fault.
Wasn't released yet. I need to test it be4.

This file works perfectly for me on my GT 540 with CyanogenMod 6.1.2. Thanks a lot man, its just wonderful. The font is awesome, and for now i have not seen any bugs. Brillant.
Just 2 questions. What is the number on the notification bar, next to the 3g signal ?
And it is possible to disable the transition effect between 2 screens ?
Thanks a milion man ^^
1. It's network signal as number, you can off it in CM settings > Initial setup > Status bar and uncheck: Show dBm.
2. Dunno understand.

Sorry for my english in my 2nd question, i am not very good. There is a little screen transition effect, for exemple, when you are on Settings screen, then you go to Sound settings, there is a little effect.
This is bounce I made this theme to show this effect. You can switch off animations in screen settings (but all or nothing).
For me English is the second one either

I will update this *.zip file through recovery
where is the *.xml file?
Edit:
I used the *white*.xml file it is working fine now it is 100% right i guess.
By the way where is the theme in post # 11?
The latest firmware update from Sony on the ICS Xperia 2012 brought improvements except one unpleasant moment: bootlup after editing framework-res.apk
This method only works. It told me the user with 4pda.ru sk0t. And for that, he thanks a lot.
So, the tutorial will be small. I use ApkTools150.
1. Decompiled framework as usual, using files from your firmware.
2. Make the necessary changes.
3. Now go to the folder with the decompiled framework and open the file in a text editor apktool.iml
4. Remove these lines and save.
Code:
usesFramework:
ids:
- 2
5. Go to framework-res\res\values\ and open styles.xml. Locate and delete the highlighted in red in the two lines:

@com.sonyericsson.uxp:drawable/semc_bg

Click to collapse

@com.sonyericsson.uxp:drawable/semc_bg_bright

Click to collapse
6. Compile you framework-res.apk
After installing the framework you will experience the background application will no longer be subject to change depending on the theme. I have the problem solved by adding transparency: [Sola\Go\U?\P?] Reboot&Transparent mode [Test] But this compromise.
If someone has a different way, without errors, please let me know )
Do not say thanks, press thanks:angel:
If i do not want the transperency effect will it still work? I am fine with not being able to change the background.

Transparency is not an end, and correction of errors. If left as it is your background in applications is static, background image is stored in the framework-res\res\drawable-nodpi\semc_bg.png and semc_bg_bright.png.
I repeat, this is a compromise.
Thank u this will definitely help!

It will not work.
1. If you do not delete the line about "com.sonyericsson.uxp" framework that will not compile \ work.
2. If they delete and copy two pictures of SemcGenericUxpRes.apk-then the background will be static, it will not change when you change themes. The background is taken from the framework, of those pictures, which we copied. Choosing a theme is not working 100%.

Ok i thought i'll do a little more,i moved the two pngs with an additional "_uxp" tag to their name and followed the changes in the file as per post,
Also i declared the 2png files in public.xml
Now next thing in my mind would be decompiling SemcGenericUxpRes.apk
Changing the drawable smali which finds this variable and declare it as part of framework-res.apk
now the question is what is the framework-res.apk file according to system?
Any solution to keep theme background?
Now this is an interesting workaround. Very clever.
However..
With Sony's ICS roms, you need to install SemcGenericUxpRes.apk with apktool before you decompile framework-res.apk. This will give the program all the resources it needs to fully decompile the apk.
Otherwise you will have a partially decompiled apk that will always give you a bootloop unless you do something like the op.
apktool if SemcGenericUxpRes.apk...give it a try!

Basically this is the stock gingerbread keyboard with (image) changes made by me. I’m not the developer of this app, I just changed some things to make it look more cool
I started theming the keyboard app just for my personal use but after using it for a while I think the outcome is good and I thought some may like it.
This will not work with ics/jb, so there is no point try it, but if you want to try it that bad, go ahead, its not like you will suffer from something, its just an apk.
If someone use 2.1 or 2.2 please test it and tell me if it worked, I think it will work, but I haven’t tried it.
If you have any bugs please report them by posting them below
All Credits go to the original developer(s) of this app.
Changelog 22/12/12 SC_Keyboard_v02_blue
changed the button for capital letters and for the symbol pages
now the original button look like this
SC_Keyboard_red initial release (at the same style as blue, see scrrenshots above)
SC_Keyboard_white initial release (at the same style as blue, see scrrenshots above)
1/12/12 initial release
I have some plans for the future, so you can expect more themed keyboards in this thread and of course if there is any problem I’ll try my best to fix it.:fingers-crossed:
Do you like the keyboard’s style but the colors don’t look well with your theme?
You are lucky, I’m open for color requests.
How to install
Its very easy to install the keyboard, but I'm making a short tut just in case…
Instructions
1)Download the apk from the above attachments.
2)Find it with your file manager.
3)Install it.
4)Go to settings>language and keyboard>and check the box next to “SC_Keyboard”, a message will pop out, if you don’t have any problem with what you will see then click ok(this massage doesn’t mean that your device have find something suspicious on the app. This message pop out everytime you install a keyboard and its caused by the permissions of the keyboards apps)
5)Go somewhere where your keyboard will open(long press menu button or go to sms)
6)Hit the settings buttons
7)Hit “select input method”
8)Select “SC_Keyboard”
Done
**please don’t post anything like “I cant find the icon to launch it”, if you indeed think this, reread the instructions.**
Enjoy
Thanks bro will try it when i flash back 2.3..

First of all what im gonna describe is how i did it and it doesnt mean that its the best way to do it,google is your best friend.
We are gonna do our job with apk manager for now.(alternative you can use apktool)
First of all download apk manager.
Try to open it, if it opens without errors that means you have already installed java and adb successfully and you can skip the followings.
-install java jdk
-install sdk
-set up adb
----------linux users go here or google for more informations
----------windows users go here or google for more informations
Now you must be ready.
Take the app you want to edit and place it at the "place-apk-here-for-modding" folder
Open the apk manager by open the "script.dat"
Now you are seeing many options, type 22 and press enter. Select the apk you wanna work on.
Decompile
it by pressing 9,a new folder have being made inside "projects" folder. This file contain the files you want to edit.

about changing the look of an app you just have to edit the images with a photo manipulation program (I'm using gimp) and some xml that contain the colours about certain things. The images that you need to change are at the res>drawable-mdpi
If you want to make changes at any .xml file, you can make them even with a simple text editor.
Compile
by pressing 11,an apk named unsigned<sth>.apk have being made at the "place-apk-here-for-modding" folder.
Sign
now move the unsinged*.apk that is inside "place-apk-here-for-modding" to "place-apk-here-for-signing" folder,go to script and press 12
Your modded apk must be ready
make changes and see what will happen

Great news to every modder here. QMG files in Lollipop are gone! Edited SystemUI and Framework-res and every resource are now PNGs as in Jelly Bean. Here is a test theme I made which I will post later:
LG G3 Statusbar:

I hope to see a more active forum now that edit System apks is much more easier than before.

I could, but the battery icon still remains unavailable to edit...
Xposed would do that flawlessly for sure!
Two projects in mind:
G3 Statusbar (Finished)
AOSP Lollipop Statusbar (looking for nice resources as a lot of them are blurry/resized)
Very great news! Thank you Samsung!

There is a other thread with AOSP for kitkat.
Isn't there a converter?
Can we change the color of the background in menus from white to black?

Yep, but they're sighlty resized and the kitkat battery is a little bit taller than the LP one, meaning that the icons are not well aligned.

We can change them since Kitkat. You just need to decompile the APK and edit styles.xml and set the original theme to the opposite:
Code:
@android:style/Theme.Material (dark version)
@android:style/Theme.Material.Light (light version)

You need to edit the xml file to point to images and you're good to go.
Yep, it would be nice to change these horrible TW colour schemes, gonna have to read up how to do it. Anyone know of any guides to help?

At least not in SystemUI and Framework which are the two fundamental apks to modify the entire System appareance.
Probably some apks still makes use of QMGs because they're directly ported (or copypasted, call them how you want) from Kitkat. But the core apps now have PNG resources.
The best way to know if an app have or not QMG files on it is downloading QMG2PNG tool made by Xperiacle and import the apk, if you have an error saying that the APK have no QMG files on it, then you're good to edit it!

Yep, I've seen that here in XDA, but I have problems recompiling the APK, it gives me a ton of errors in apktool and doesn't create the dist folder with the Apk inside. I will try to use another apktool if that's the problem..
styles.xml
Where can i find styles.xml file ?
I searched with root explorer and i didn't find it ... please help
You have to decompile the apk with e.g. APK Tool first. The styles.xml is located in res/values.
Indeed, really sad, that there are still qmg files. But framework and SystemUI are mostly free of them. Still better this than nothing. [emoji6]

Same OS, same company, same build, should be the same! Download QMG2PNG tool (by Xperiacle) and import any S5 apk, if you have toast notification that says that there aren't QMG resources in the APK file, then it should be the same to your device.
Brothers,
I love the Trebuchet and SlimRom's SlimLauncher because of customization options provided in both.
While nothing can beat Trebuchet but because it hides the protected apps, I wanted to have a Launcher which can be less poppulated and customizable homescreen grid.
So, I modded the SlimLauncher to have Transparent App Dock n Drawer with only 4 Columns of Apps.
Screenshot and Flashable Zip attached. Kindly try and report back.
It will work on most of the AOSP and LAOS based Custom ROMs.
Code:
[B]Flash the zip, wipe Dalvik & Cache, Reboot and enjoy.[/B]
Credits are solely of SlimRom's for such a fantastic Launcher. & @sharkie405 for the Hotseat Smali editing tip.
EDIT:-
v1 Added -
1) Full Transparent Hotseat (dock)
2) Full Transparent App Drawer
3) No App's Name in app drawer
4) Only 4 columns apps (Looks nice)
5) Selectable Homescreen Grid.
6) Selectable Gestures at homescreen.
7) Selectable Search bar.
Screenshot added for new ones -

Thanks for the feedback. Will resolve the same in v1 about app names.
For icons it's there in homescreen. Try clearing the data and also share on which rom you have tried. If you have any AOSP or LAOS based ROM it will work with default dialer, browser, camera & messaging.
Edit:-
Try, the v1 given in the OP or attached here. Try it. It has no app names in app drawer + Transparent App Drawer & Hotseat.

Brother,
The Launcher is intended to work on CM 14 or above. If it's working on CM 13, that's a great news for us though it was not supposed to work because some mandatory java files will be missing in framework of CM13. Kindly try the launcher on Android 7.1.1 or above.
Regarding OP Dialer, I am coming back after a long time and thus I cannot promise you for the same. Also, it's the proprietary dialer of OnePlus and thus don't know if it will work any AOSP or LAOS based ROMs.
For other ROM based on OS, I guess, It's already there so need of this.
Best Regards
Bond
