Faced a very strange problem, I have not seen ever before:
Smartphone suddenly freezes in a certain location +/- 5 meters along the road to / from work.
When I go out of the subway, on my way to the office in a certain place the phone just dies, then I have to long press power button to reboot it, and it shows no errors.
In other places this does not happen, I have the phone for six months.
Has anyone ever encountered or seen anything like this?
I had similar issue on another phone maybe the battery is faulty.

Strange. Sounds like some kind of GPS app related issue, if it's only in one certain location and no other place?

Yes, precisely one location in my town and no other place. I think thats true, but which app exactly, how can I investigate? I tried turning off the Google Assistant's location tracking, but it didnt help.
Now I will gonna test the stability with GPS turned off, if it helps, ok, but I need my GPS connection, I dont want to switch it on and off every time I go to work
I dont understand what can cause system to freeze...
Is there any broadcast TV or radio stations close by? Strong RFI (radio frequency interference) can sometimes cause problems.

Actually there is high radio tower nearby ~500m. You think some bug in cellular connection can cause problems?

Interference can be experienced due to unfiltered frequency harmonics overloading the phones radio(s) because of close proximity to a high wattage transmitter. Rare but possible. I'm an amateur radio operator and it happens.

So I have a rather strange problem.
You all know those interference noises a phone causes while receiving a SMS or a call.
If I'm home the whole day I have no problem with those noises. I only have them occasionally when i get an sms or something like that.
But when I leave the house for uni for example and return later my speakers are constantly humming and it doesn't really stop. It will only stop after I turn on airplane mode and turn it back off.
Also during that time the battery drains rapidly. It's about 10% per hour.
I've had that problem with the stock rom and then went through all Resurrection Remix Versions since 2.1, but the only difference was the volume and the sound of the interference. But it never went away.
Currently I'm on Resurrection Remix 2.4 with Siyah 3.3.2 and Modem Version I9100DXLP9.
I guess I could try all diferent modem versions and look if it fixes the problem. But since I don't really know what I have to do to start it, it's a little tricky to check if it is really fixed. I only know for certain that the problem occurs after returning from uni.
Here's a screenshot of the battery drain of today.
It contains:
1. night
2. leaving the house and listening to beyond pod on my way to uni (first awake period)
3. while in uni checking the time
4. driving back, listening to beyond pod, playing on gbadroid
5. at least you see the gap in the wifi status, that's where i turned on and off the airplane mode
the prblm is radiowaves tht interfere the electronic devices, well i don kno wat settings or any tweaks u on,,,but a good idea is to check if ur cordless phone, oven,tv all r placed at far distance as per electronic rules,an yes sometimes these things happen.its not neccesary tht it takes place for all..during my studies we had this project on y the tv gets mass disturbance during lunch hrs,see the real prblm was the oven ,behind the wall and the phone, very clearly the oven will on,cause its lunch time an ppl usd to make calls cause it was free time too..so check ur devices an post
If you mean that another device is disturbing the speakers, then I can tell you that that is definitely not the case since the interference stops once I turn the phone off.
Also I don't think that any device is interfering with my phone because the problem vanishes after I reboot.
I wrote before that it suffices to turn on airplane mode and turn it back off, but today that also wasn't enough. The disturbance went away, but the battery drain stayed. So I turned the phone off, removed the battery, waited a few secs, put it back in and turned it on again. After that the battery percentage dropped instantly from 19% to 12% but since then it has stayed at 12%.
I made another Screenshot:
I think I have an idea what could be causing the problem. I think it has to do with GSM/UMTS.
Where I live there is hardly any UMTS connection. So I guess, when I leave the house and come into UMTS region my phone switches to that, but after I get home it has problems switching back to GSM and that's what's causing the noise.
It's only a wild guess, but I try to confirm it during the next days. I just switched to UMTS only. That means I have hardly any connection at home, but I'll see wether that helps my problem...

UMTS ought not provide the same sort of interference. I don't know the technical reason anymore, but my understanding is that only 2G induces that kind of interference in other circuitry.
That's why I think maybe it's stuck switching between UMTS and GSM and everytime it switches to GSM it interferes with my speakers and that constant switching is causing the battery drain.
I guess it could have something to do with the fact that there is no reception in my lecture hall at all.
I will have to try to track down wether that constant disturbance and battery drain only happens after the phone hasn't had any reception for a longer period of time or if it is always after I leave the house.
So today I was again in that mentioned lecture hall and after returning home the speakers again wouldn't shut up.
I noticed a little downward arrow in the connection bar. I don't really know what that's doing there since I have wifi active and no data connection.
After a while disturbing the speakers and not getting really good signal it changes to UMTS. The disturbance is gone but so is my connection.
After a reboot the arrow and the disturbance are gone. So I guess there is some data connection that is stuck or something like that?
Hi,
Has anyone else experienced intermittent NFC funcionality on the 920?
For a while the NFC just doesn't work, and comes back after some minutes.
I have a lumia 920 and a lumia 720 and both phones are experiencing the same issue.
Anyone else?

I think what you are experiencing is the NFC system going into sort of a sleep mode. Then when you use it it takes a few moments for it to pick up the signal from the tag or other device to wake it up. It also drains your battery horribly to leave it on. i would suggest turning it on only when you are about to use it. Then it should be active and ready to receive. You also could be seeing some badly programmed tags or cheap tags that do not have the correct level of RF output.

I see no difference in battery life when turning it on and leaving it like that.
I don't think the problem is the tags, because I cannot pair with other phones neither while it has the issue.

Sounds like you got a bum phone then. Use your warranty and trade it in.. My NFC reader has never lagged and has always recognized tags and other devices within 1 second of being near them.

two brand new phones with the same issue? I don't think it's the hardware itself.
Also, I found more posts about the same issue on the nokia forums, maybe they need to fix something on the software side.

Are you running the latest 1314 firmware? There was an official update, but it did not get pushed and you have to go into settings and force the phone to look for it..

yes, I have 1232.5962.1314.0001
I can also vouch that keeping Tap+Send on doesn't affect my battery life at all. Also, I've noticed on the 920, it's very iffy on the location. You have to touch the sensor to perfection (which annoys me with the charging stand) for it to function. Maybe that's the intermittent behavior you're experiencing.

I can say that the NFC transmitter on this phone works at medium distances, I have several NFC tags scattered in my desk, and sometimes I put things on top of them (like my wallet) and if I place the phone on top of the wallet it interacts with the NFC tag beneth the wallet, and that's like 7cm apart from it.
when the issue appears, no matter how close I put it, it just doesn't work.
I'm planning to put the phone in Test mode using nokia care suite and test the behavior for a while to see if something interesing comes up, kind of difficult because this happens randomly.
My NFC works great, except when I'm sharing something between 2 lumia 920s, sometimes it takes a few tries to get the phones to notice eachother.
Has anyone else had this issue? I've had it occur in two different vehicles. Stock & rooted latest software

I don't use any streaming services though. I have all my music saved on my SD card and play it from there and when I stream that music over Bluetooth to my car stereo, every now & then the audio will just go out (mute) for like a second and then come back on. I thought it was my friend's car stereo (Hyundai) but I'm driving a Chevrolet now and it's doing the same thing. So, I'm sure it's the phone because it happened on my original eVo LTE and I now have a replacement device that does the same thing.
I'm having the same issue, audio cutting out for like a split second at regular intervals.
I'm running OMNI dated 20140331 and kernel from that.
On stock 4.1 it didn't seem to do this.
I saw in another thread that boosting the min cpu frequency might help, I'll try that today.
Well that didn't work.
Anybody else have any ideas?

I've seen a few times it can be caused by the back cover being loose not sure if that is your issue but it's worth a shot
Sent from my EVO using XDA Free mobile app
It wasn't loose but I see the antenna contact points. I'll try applying pressure to the back cover over the bluetooth antenna contact point (as soon as I figure out which one is the bluetooth).
But I thought the issue with the back cover was total loss in bluetooth connectivity?
I don't have any problems connecting or staying connected. Just the audio stutters/skips.
Holding the back cover slightly below the headphone jack (where the wlan/bluetooth antenna contact points are) did not seem to make a difference.
I'll probably move the contact points out a bit anyway.
The only change to stock OMNI is restricting the max cpu freq to 702.
I'll try turning that off tonight.
So I've noticed that randomly throughout the day my phone will randomly disconnect from Wifi and Bluetooth. It always drops both at the same time then reconnects.
Has anyone else had this problem?
For me the Mobile Connection Drops every few seconds.....No Network...4G TLE with 5 Bars.......No Network...4G TLE with 5 Bars.....No Network...4G TLE with 5 Bars.....No Network...4G TLE with 5 Bars...
Got my My LG G5 from T-Mobile... After 3 days the phone has been overheating, and every 10 seconds it drops Mobile Connection...I went through a plethora of tests with T-Mobile Support and they determined that I need a replacement device...so waiting for the replacement...One other thing, I notice this happened after calling T-Mobile to Unlock the device...So not sure if there is any correlation between my issue and T-Mobiles Unlock App, T-Mobile said the two were not related.
WiFi is unstable for me, too. Disconnects randomly every hour or so. I mostly notice it when casting to my Chromecast. I have to reconnect to the app in order to regain control. I've tried multiple routers, and the problem is reproducible with both. Bluetooth hiccups, too, but never fully disconnects. I haven't noticed that the WiFi and Bluetooth disconnects coincide. Mine is AT&T branded.
I've got a similar issue, only the wifi is fine most of the time, but Bluetooth skips every few minutes and has completely dropped twice. I'm exchanging my device tomorrow to see if that fixes it. I also got a crap battery as well. Kinda disappointed with this $700 purchase.

Me too, i disappointed
Okay so, I've only managed to reproduce it on 5GHz networks. It doesn't seem to drop out on the 2.4GHz band. Bluetooth doesn't drop out either.
Scrap that, just happened again at work on a 2.4GHz connection. Hopefully it's just a software bug that will be fixed in a later patch.
I have 5Ghz wi-fi at home and it's been rock solid. Have also had no issues with bluetooth. Hope you get it figured out.
Both bands Wi-Fi & BT rock solid for me too. The BT in particular seems much stronger than my 6P which had occasional drop outs even at close range.
Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
I notice that it reports "Avoiding poor connection" in the WiFi menu when it's disconnected. I'm sitting in the room with the router, so maybe the "poor connection" detection is too aggressive.
Mine just starting dropping WiFi while the screen is off, I check the settings and everything is setup right it just started to happen today. I would F/R the phone and see if that helps
I exchanged mine for a new one, and the WiFi connection remains inconsistent.

Mine also does this and seems to be getting worse also vibrations have also stopped all together
I can't even get through 1-2 songs on bluetooth before it disconnects and plays through my phone speakers... it has zero issues connecting in the first place and sounds fine, but then just drops.
I do have pretty unreliable wifi at home so I'm playing some music with wifi switched off to see if it could somehow be related to wifi dropping, but these songs I'm playing are cached to my phone from Play Music so that'd seem weird to me..
Also wondering if hardware and distance has an issue with it. I had it 2-3 yards away from my bluetooth shower speaker when it disconnected. I'm playing it right next to it now and so far into song 2 with no issues. I've never had this issue with my G4, which is a bummer, because that phone was a piece of junk that my G5, otherwise, outclasses in every possible way.
To update, the Bluetooth issues absolutely seem to be linked to wifi drops, at least from my testing. Even playing local media, I noticed both dropped at the same time, but I played through 5 songs with my wifi toggled off and not a single problem.
Those of you with issues in the car, is your wifi toggled off completely? I'm wondering if it's affected by having wifi on, or just by a random wifi drop.
I've had wifi issues with every Android phone I've owned since IPv6 became normal in home routers. I blame Google for refusing to use DHCPv6, the most widely used dynamic network addressing protocol, instead using some weirdass protocol called RDNSS which NOBODY uses. I've found the best fix is to ensure your router is set to stateless autoconfiguration for IPv6, but it doesn't fix it completely. Those who have a router that can shut v6 off, try it out. Xfinity doesn't let you.
I will say my g4 behaved the exact same way on wifi, but I don't remember Bluetooth having issues. I don't use it much, though, since I have an AUX in my car and Chromecast music.
Having the same issue as well. Fought with sprint for weeks and went through a few replacements in that time... Got the G5 as a free upgrade and it's doing the same thing. Done with LG devices...
Yes, and I just made a thread about it. Oops. Anyone try resetting phone? I'm about to but that's a pain having to bring it all back and make sure I back everything up.

That is not promising as I've had this issue since day one hoping an update would solve it to no avail trying to avoid getting a replacement.
My last phone did the exact same thing. For 2 years. Also constantly closing apps I was using, freezing, and my keyboard would disappear frequently. It did it from Day 1. It was a nightmare.
Finally got a new phone (and moved up to Marshmallow,) and the drops have started happening after less than 1 week. They really need to find out what's causing this!
Hi!
Has anyone had a gps problem with Sports Tracker or Suunto App? They suddenly stops recording the route. The recording of the route is usually interrupted at the beginning and sometimes in the middle of the trip. I have tried restoring the factory settings but does not help. The power saving+location settings are in order and the necessary rights have been granted. The latest versions of the application and system are in use.
I tested the same on the One Plus 8. I took both the OP8 and OP10T phones into my backpack and turned on the recording of the Sports tracker or Suunto app. One Plus 8 recorded the traveled route correctly, but One Plus 10t left part of it unrecorded..
I would like to save bicycle trips and hiking on the map, but it is currently completely impossible with the phone model in question.
I have the same issue with two different 10Ts, I have not found a solution besides either leaving the screen on or connecting to power during GPS usage. If I ever figure it out I will make sure to post the fix.

Good to know I'm not the only one with this problem. It's quite annoying. Fortunately, the screen can be "locked" when it's on. So there is no fear that the phone will press the buttons by itself.
I did a factory reset again. After a week of testing, the route was saved normally every day.
