You're talking about carrier unlock or SIM card unlock, right?
What variant V30 do you have? What's the model number?
Japan carrier KDDI got the LG V35, not V30. You sure you don't have an LG V35?
Even this writer was confused:
LG V30 Plus With Android 8.0 Oreo Hits Japan As LG V35

However, some people online are saying KDDI is just CALLING this the V35, but it's really a V30+ -- that it's NOT the REAL V35 LG released later to the rest of the world with Snapdragon 845 and 2 x 16megapixel cameras. I don't know.

Sorry, I don't know what V35 KDZ firmware is compatible to flash for various V35 variants.
With Frankenstein method -- using dev patched LGUP -- we're able to carrier unlock Sprint LS998 V30/V30+ to convert it to one of the carrier unlocked V30 variants, like AS998, H931 or US998.
Through trial and error we found out what's compatible for various V30 variants, and in doing so @txanmoe accidentally discovered the WTF Oreo bootloader unlock exploit for V30/V30+/V30S. He bricked his phone bad enough @runningnak3d had to help him recover, then later trying to do some stuff for H930DS users he permanently bricked his V30 phone.
But his momentous discovery was really an offshoot of the Frankenstein method. He was indeed trying to unlock the bootloader, and he did crazy stuff which shouldn't have worked, but exposed the MAJOR LG Oreo bootloader unlock exploit.
Might be possible to carrier unlocks Japan LG V35 with Frankenstein method, but you would need V35 compatible .dll file and you would need to know what's safe to flash and what's not.

i have the same problem, did you manage to unlock it?
I have an at&t phone, and i flash an open kdz, i can enter any sim card and it doesn't ask for code, but don't make a call, just show message: "emergency calls only"
the sim show full reception.
tried to dial all code (2945) in the post to bring up the unlock dialog to enter my pin unlock codes with no success
did you manage to open it?

* What "AT&T" phone do you have? This is the V30 forum -- so do you have AT&T H931?
* What "open kdz" did you flash?
Did you follow the Frankenstein instructions to convert to US998? That will DEFINITELY carrier unlock it and you will have access to publicly released current KDZ updates.
I saw what you described happen to someone else with AS998 (full bars but no ability to make a phone call). I told them to cross flash to US998 and it solved the problem. US998 definitely works:

Have you considered converting to US998 via the Frankenstien method? That is how I got Oreo on (what was) my H931.

Hello there, thanks for your reply.
I just explained my issue on this thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/help/att-v30-h931-firmware-dump-t3781647/page4
Where you having the same issue?
If converting the phone is the only solution, i might have to do that. I'll look into the Frankenstien method.
Thanks!

AT&T doesn't release full image KDZ and they won't let LG do it. They only send over the air firmware update, and for those OTA updates you have to be an AT&T customer.
Best to Frankenstein convert to carrier unlocked model US998.

No, I was not having your specific issue, but I was unable to update to Oreo on my H931 I was using on another carrier. I see that you received solid advice from Chazz in that other thread. You should be good to go at this point.

Enabling Dual sim on LG-US998?

Hello all.
I just bought an LG V30+ (US998 model).
The phone is unlocked to any carrier and it has Android 7.1.2 and Hardware version Rev 1.0
It seems that the sim tray is the hybrid type in which you can insert an SD card or a second SIM card. However, when inserting a second sim card it is not detected. (rather obvious since this phone is sold as "single sim").
Would it be possible to enable the dual sim capabilities of the phone?
Software Info:
Baseband version: MPSS.AT.
2.5.c1.2-00017-8998_GEN_PACK-1-112143.14
Kernel: 4.4.63
Build Number: N2G47H
Software Version: US99810d
Thanks a lot for your help.

Thanks Matt.
I was hoping that by unlocking the booloader or installing a custom rom from a dual sim version of the LG V30+ it could've been possible.
Is it then a matter of hardware limitations rather than software?
That's not a dual sim tray. It's just 1 sim 1 SD card

Hi Kenbo.
It has a hybrid sim card tray. It can definitely hold a second sim card (or an SD card).
That is why I was hoping that by doing some software changes the phone would recognize the second sim.

You would need firmware that supports it like H930D (64GB dual SIM) or H930DS (128GB dual SIM), neither of which are compatible with any of the North American variants.
Even flashing the H930DS firmware over Europe H930 gives a fake dual SIM icon, not actually enabled. And those two firmware are "compatible".

There is only the official unlock method.
Check the CID to see if it can be unlocked.
Code:
fastboot getvar cid
Then check the List of CIDs
I'm in the same boat with the cricket g power 2021
My phone XT2117-1 (Moto G Power 4+64GB) is locked by Verizon provider.
There is no Verizon network in my country.
If I insert a Sim card from a local provider (Tele2-Russia), I see a message: "A locked device. Your device is blocked by your operator. Please insert a valid Sim card."
I turn on my phone and two such screens are available to me:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And such a window for scanning a QR code is also displayed (If I tap the screen many times)
I wanted to unlock the bootloader. But the MOTOROLA support site does not generate an unlock code for my device.
Can you help me unlock my smartphone?
Can I make a crossflash for XT2117-1?
What should I do for this?
Verizon is known to require OEM locked bootloaders. I believe ATT does the same, but not T-Mobile. Was this phone given to you or were you given a buying offer you just couldn't refuse? I ask because considering you're in Russia, I presume based on your local carrier, the unlocked global variant would have been your best if not the only choice.
In terms of flashing, you won't be able to without unlocking the bootloader, but there may be a way to fool the phone recovery program to load up a similar stock rom by replacing some of the images within the official rom file you can download. But I'm doubting this will work at all due to hash signatures and other checks that may fail along the recovery process, which at worst you'll end up bricking your device.

You're right.
This is an Ebay purchase. Since it was purchased through a mail intermediary, it will not be possible to make a refund to the seller.
It turns out that there is no proven way for my smartphone to replace the firmware with an alternative firmware or stock firmware for another operator?
If I wait for a while, will MOTOROLA unlock the bootloader?
Will I be able to install LineageOS on the phone XT 2117-1 in six months or a year?
Unless you or someone in the moto community find an exploit to circumvent locked bootloaders, I very much hate to be the bearer of bad news in saying no you won't be able to install Lineage. Nor do I think Motorola would allow OEM unlocking any time soon.
I have an LG Stylo 2 that ran on Verizon, 5 years later that guy remains locked. Granted it's LG and a device model that didn't get much visibility in the community. Things could look much different for the Moto G Power in a years time. Who knows, mate. But I'd heavily recommend selling or finding a way to trade it for the global variant.
Is there even a Lineage rom available for this phone?

Anyone try any GSI ROMs on the G Power 2021?
It's pretty standard hardware as far as phones go. No weird under display fingerprint reader or anything. Anyone try a GSI ROM? It might "just work" or "almost just work but you need to run a few commands to fix something".

Lg G8X Rom to upload in LG V50s to make it dual sim

Lg g8x is dual sim, I wonder whether you can upload the rom to LG V50s since they have the same hardware except v50s has bigger ram and storage.
Is it possible to make it dual sim?

both have same ram 6GB
honestly v50 and g8x are almost the same phones, and I still prefer g8x because of gorilla 6 LCD vs V50 has Gorilla 5
Considering that even if you have the ROM somehow - which you can easily obtain by getting the firmware files via a quick Google search - I highly doubt that dual - sim would work anyways; LGUP doesn't even let you flash a firmware that's not made for your exact model. I don't believe that the v50s even has a dual - sim slot anyways, so this is a lost cause.

LG V50s has a dual sim slot, but it is not recognized by the phone. The sim slot can carry a micro sd and sim. I can see that the main difference between the g8x and v50s is only the ram and the rom of g8x can carry dual sim.
So thinking maybe we can flash the rom of g8x to v50s to have a higher ram dual sim phone.
I cross flash the rom of g8x over v50s but non of sim working and cannot change network it shows 22.

Nope. you can switch between U and U1 firmware but nothing really changes but if you try to flash other model firmware you either get an error or possibly brick the device. Samsung made sure the north American models wouldn't be able to be unlocked to be able to unlock the bootloader ever.

Does this mean that if I have activated my U1 in North America using a US Sim Card I still can not use a SIM card from another country while traveling? Or does the restriction go away once I activated it?
